Female Genital Mutilation Now Stark Reality in America

Most immigration talk is dominated by the issue of illegal immigrants, but some legal immigrants can also bring problems into our country. A practice called female genital mutilation (FGM), predominantly seen in Muslim-controled countries, is now an issue in the United States.

Worldwide, an estimated 6,000 girls are subjected to the practice each day. For centuries, women performed FGM on family members or neighbors, anywhere from infancy to puberty. The practice is most common in parts of Africa and the Middle East.

Many girls do not survive the ordeal due to bleeding and infections and those who do are scarred both physically and emotionally for life.

Female genital mutilation is the cutting off or, in fewer cases, the mutilation of the external female genitalia. This procedure is often done without anesthesia using dull and dirty razor blades or scissors.

Female genital mutilation is unspeakably painful for its young victims.

To make matters worse, often the vagina is sewn closed until marriage. And sometimes, a girl’s legs are bound together for a period of time during which scar tissue grows over the vaginal opening.

In either case, only tiny holes remain for urination and menstruation, causing a number of health problems, such as constant pain, urinary tract and bladder infections, kidney problems including kidney failure, irregular periods, cysts and infertility.

In addition, childbirth can be life-threatening to both the mother and baby, and sexual intercourse is often excruciating.

Three Methods of Genital Mutilation

Female Genital Mutilation is usually performed in one of three ways:

  • Clitoridectomy: removing part or all of the clitoris.
  • Excision: removing part or all of the clitoris and the inner labia (the lips that surround the vagina), with or without removal of the labia majora (the larger outer lips).
  • Infibulation: narrowing of the vaginal opening by creating a seal, formed by cutting and repositioning the labia.

Female genital mutilation is commonly referred to as “female circumcision,” but a more accurate term is “female castration” because victims typically lose the ability to become sexually aroused. As a result, they’re not tempted to engage in premarital or extra-marital intercourse.

Female genital mutilation was performed before Islam came into existence and it’s not dictated by the Quran, Islam’s holy book. However, FGM is largely practiced by Muslims, although not exclusively.

There appears to be some disagreement within the Muslim community about whether the practice is tied to their faith.

Sheik Yousef Al Badri, of Al Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, addressed the issue in a film called “Honor Diaries,” a documentary about abuses against women such as FGM, forced marriage and honor killings.

“Circumcision is the reason why Muslim women are virtuous, unlike Western women who run after their sexual appetite in any place with any man,” he says in the film.

Elsewhere in the documentary, Dr. Qanta Ahmed, a physician and the author of In The Land of Invisible Women, says, “Female genital mutilation is not advocated in Islam in any way, shape or form. It doesn’t appear in the Koran, but has very much been adopted by some Muslim societies.”

A Matter of Honor?

Paula Kweskin is the film’s producer and a human rights attorney.

“I do believe it’s an element of the honor system,” she said. “And I think if we can break down the honor system, we will break away issues like FGM and child marriage and forced marriage and honor killings because these things are all linked together.”

She says the purpose of her documentary is to educate the public about a topic unfamiliar to many people.

“We really believe in education and getting the message out. A lot of times when communities learn about just how harmful the practice is, they stop,” she said. “We’ve seen that in Africa and we’ve seen that in other parts of the world. A lot of times it’s just a lack of education and a lack of understanding, and it is a tradition that’s passed along, so it’s very hard to break tradition and break that cycle.”

Appearing on “The 700 Club,” Ayaan Hirsi Ali, author of the book, Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now, recalled her experience in Somalia at the age of five.

“Not all of them are Muslim, but the majority of the women who have been subjected to this mutilation are Muslim,” Ali said.

“Not a day goes by where people who are Muslim, use their faith, using the guidance of the (Muslim) Prophet Mohammed and what they read in the Koran, to engage in violence and in oppression, and to justify that in the name of religion,” she continued.

FGM Invades the West

Currently there are an estimated 140 million victims worldwide, including in some places that are not predominanly Muslim or Arabic, such as Canada, Western Europe and America.

An astounding half a million girls and women in the United States have either undergone female genital mutilation or are at risk of having it done to them.

Many live in New York City, New Jersey and other places with immigrant populations from countries where “cutting,” as it’s called, is commonly practiced.

Recently, FGM survivors marched at the U.S. Capitol to raise awareness, including Frances Cole, who described her experience.

“I was 11 years old at the time, and I was told that we, my sister and I — she was 13 at the time — we were told that we were going somewhere to be made into women,” she recalled.

FGM survivor Mariam Bojang, who also marched on Washington, found it difficult to describe the torturous event.

“The experience of FGM is, oh my, I don’t even think there is a word on earth I can describe it with. It’s cruel, gruesome, no one on earth, I wouldn’t even wish it on my enemy, that’s how gruesome it is.”

Congress passed legislation making it illegal to perform female genital mutilation in the United States and making it a crime to take girls out of the country to do it, a practice known as “vacation cutting.” Twenty-four states have enacted similar legislation.

Taking Action

Shelby Quast is the director of the America’s Office of Equality Now, an organization working for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women and girls around the world that is dedicated to ending female genital mutilation in a generation.

She says people who suspect FGM or have evidence of it need to take action.

“Counselors, teachers, the medical community, police, whoever really are front-line professionals that might engage with girls who are at risk – they have a responsibility to report this as a form of violence against children,” she said.

She says there are a number of reasons FGM is performed.

“Many of those are based in patriarchy, based in controlling their sexuality,” Quast explained. “A lot of it’s for myths, mythical reasons, myths that her body parts might grow to represent a man’s if they’re not cut off.”

Other reasons include the belief that female genitalia are dirty and ugly and a prerequisite for marriage.

Breaking Their Silence

Discussing female genital mutilation is generally taboo, although courageous victims speaking out, like Frances Cole, could become powerful agents of change.

“So I just hope that other women who’ve gone through female genital mutilation speak up,” she said. “Nothing’s going to happen to you. Even though I’ve been told I’ll be stoned to death, I’m still not afraid to talk.”

Bojang says that victims speaking openly about their ordeal promotes healing.

“I had scary nightmares, like of people chasing me and then kidnapping me to do something to me,” she recalled. “But once I started talking about it, you know… I was one of these people who would crawl up in their own little corner and not talk to anyone, but look at me today. I’m brave enough to stand here and talk to the whole world.”

Victims of female genital mutilation should know there are treatments to repair some of the damage to their bodies. Gynecological surgeon Dr. Marci Bowers is one of the few physicians performing them.

“Surgical treatment, defibulation, or removal of the scar tissue is important, especially when it comes to pain and where it comes to blocking outflow and allowing childbirth,” she explained.

“But also the newly minted surgical procedures that are proven to work are to restore sexual function,” she added.

While these treatments will improve a woman’s quality of life, the hope is that one day soon they won’t be necessary — in the United States or any place else in the world.

Pope Francis: It’s Blasphemy to Commit Violence in the Name of God

After the deadly attacks in Paris claimed by Islamic State militants, Pope Francis said on Sunday that using God’s name to justify violence was sacrilege.

“I want to firmly repeat that the path of violence and hate does not resolve humanity’s problems, and using the name of God to justify this path is blasphemy,” the pope told thousands of pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square.

“Such barbarism leaves us stunned, and we ask ourselves how the heart of man could plan and execute such horrible acts, which shocked not only France but the whole world,” he said.

The pope then invited the faithful to pray with him for the innocent victims of the attacks.

It was the first time the pope had spoken directly to the general public about the Friday attacks, though in a radio interview on Saturday he characterized the assault as inhuman.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks that killed 129 people, saying they were in revenge for French military action in Syria and Iraq. {eoa}

Netanyahu: It’s Time to ‘Wake Up’ on Radical Islam

Around the world, authorities are on high alert to prevent any more strikes by Islamic terrorists.

In Britain, Prime Minister David Cameron announced Monday that seven terror attacks have been foiled in Britain over the past six months.

President Barack Obama and other world leaders are meeting at a G-20 summit in Turkey, working on the next steps to end the war in Syria and respond to the escalating ISIS threat.

And in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Monday that radical Islam is responsible for terrorism around the world.

“In Israel, as in France, terrorism is terrorism and standing behind it is radical Islam and its desire to destroy its victims,” Netanyahu said. “The time has come for the world to wake up and unite in order to defeat terrorism.”

Following the attacks in Paris, Netanyahu repeated what he has said for years, “militant Islamic terrorism attacks our societies because it wants to destroy our civilization and our values.”

The Paris attacks happened just hours after a Palestinian terrorist murdered Rabbi Ya’akov Litman and his 18-year-old son, Netanel, in a shooting attack on their vehicle. His wife, three daughters and another son had minor injuries. The family was on their way to celebrate a pre-wedding Sabbath with their fourth daughter and her soon-to-be in-laws.

Netanyahu said it’s time for the world “to condemn terrorism against us to the same degree that they condemn terrorism everywhere else in the world.”

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attacks in France. Netanyahu said it would be appropriate for Abbas “to condemn ruthless terrorism against innocent people in Israel and fight the incitement that motivates it.”

Israeli security services arrested the perpetrator of the attacks on the Litman family. Netanyahu said the terrorist is a member of Islamic Jihad. Apparently his father and brother turned him in due to Israel’s policy of destroying the homes of terrorists.

Netanyahu said Israel is no more blame for the terror against it than France is.

“It is the terrorists who are to blame for terrorism, not the territories, not the settlements and not any other thing. It is the desire to destroy us that perpetuates this conflict and drives the murderous aggression against us,” he said.

“The terrorists who attack us have the same murderous intent as those in Paris. Thanks to our aggressive policy against terrorism—to control the ground, go into the villages, demolish terrorists’ homes and take preventive action against the infrastructures of terrorism—along with the determined action of the IDF and the security services in carrying out this policy, we succeed many times in frustrating and preventing more serious disasters,” Netanyahu said.

In a separate case on Monday, two Palestinians and a third wounded when they opened fire on Israeli troops who had arrived to destroy the home of a terrorist from an earlier attack.

‘God’s Purpose’ Causes This Robber-in-Action to Act Like a Pastor

With a gun held to her head, the woman was ready to give up her life.

Then something extraordinary happened, according to local reports.

“I said, ‘You can shoot me. I just had surgery. I just have a lot going on in my life,'” Daysi Baquiax recalls.

But that’s what stopped the would-be robber dead in his tracks.

“He said, ‘No, I’m not going to hurt you. God has a purpose for you,'” Baquiax says. “He puts his arm around me and tells me, ‘Calm down, calm down,’ and just kind of comforts me.”

‘It Ain’t Over!’ Christians Appeal to Heaven

2015 has been a challenging year for the church. The Supreme Court legalized gay marriage and Christians faced jail time, fines and lawsuits, simply for standing up for their faith.

These events have led some to believe America’s best days are over and that evil has won. But a number of leaders say “Not So Fast!”

Oasis Church in Ohio hosted a nation-wide prayer tour called “An Appeal to Heaven” which is bringing hope to believers that with prayer, America will turn back to God.

Flag From the Past

A white flag with a large evergreen and the words, “An Appeal to Heaven” flies over hundreds gathered in Middletown, Ohio; not for surrender but for America’s future.

“He’s taking me back to our roots as a nation,” event organizer Dutch Sheets said. “A lot of people don’t know that we were born under a prayer movement with a flag that said, ‘appeal to heaven,’ but we were.”

Sheets, who has led many national calls to prayer, said the “Appeal to Heaven” flag is the same design used by George Washington’s rag-tag army during the Revolution—a war where there seemed to be no hope or path to victory.

Sheets described what it was like for the American militia: “We can’t defeat the British, we can’t get our independence, we have no army, we have no money, we dont’ have the weapons, they have all of it! They have the greatest empire maybe ever, but if God is in this; if this is God’s idea; if He really is raising up a city on a hill to be a light to the nations, He’ll help us. And they put that on the flag—’An Appeal to Heaven’ and that’s what it means and God answered their prayer.”

Bishop Harry Jackson said Americans need to remember the original mission of our forefathers.

“God’s original intent was to have a land that would preach the Gospel, share the good news around the world; our prosperity is tied to the purpose of God,” he said.

Jackson said it’s also a time for this nation to pray for unity and forgive others.

“The church is going to have to own the fact that we have been divided,” Jackson said. “And the only group that has the capacity to rise above these ethnic differences is the church of Jesus Christ. We need to learn how to forgive others. If we will forgive and extend grace and cry out to God, I believe God of Justice will release to us a divine set of actions that will bring realignment to heal us.”

A Coming Wave

Sheets say “An Appeal to Heaven” is more than  a series of prayer meetings, but a movement designed to wake up the Body of Christ and let them know when it comes to America—”It ain’t over!”

“And I don’t care what they (the courts) say about the unborn, I don’t care what they say about marriage. It ain’t over ’til God says it’s over,” Sheets said.  “It’s not settled law until God says it’s settled law and we’re going to change these things. There’s got to be a hope that comes—if we appeal to heaven, he can turn this thing around.”

Lou Engle, whose prayer movement, “The Call” has brought millions together on behalf of this nation, predicts a wave of God’s out-pouring that will be bigger than anything we’ve seen before.

“And it won’t be just fasting and prayer, but it will be a proclamation of my Gospel; signs and wonders and stadiums will be filled,” Engle exclaimed. “It’s time for the Jesus movement. I feel we’re in that shift, it’s happening again.

Christians sharing a passion to see America turn back to God came here from across the country to be a part of this prayer movement.

“I’m an intercessor and a prayer warrior and I’m constantly praying for this nation, praying for this generation and I really just felt like God wanted me to be here,” Brandon, a 20-something African-American man from New Jersey said.

“And we can believe that God will hear our cry and he’ll shift things; so whatever that looks like, whatever the shift is, we can believe that He’s for us, He’s good and He’s hearing our cry,” Becky, a 40-something white woman from Kansas City said.

“I’m walking away with hope and I’m walkng away with faith—because I know God is moving,” Ginger, a grandmother from Michigan, said.

‘Give Him 15’ App

Sheets also unveiled a free iPhone app that will spread this movement to the digital and social media universe. It’s called “Give Him 15.”

“For the first time technology allows us to get everybody on board. We don’t have to go to the same church, we don’t have to be part of the same movement, all they have to do is pull their iPhone out and say, ‘OK, I’ll do this, Lord I pray for… ,’ and know that all over this nation millions of people are going to be praying that same prayer!” Sheets said.

“We’ll be praying for the election, praying for the ending of abortion, praying for the healing of our nation racially and the prayers will come from all over and many different groups and denominations. Talk about the power of agreement and the synergy that can take place,” he added.

As these events move into next year, many hope God will do for this generation what he did for George Washington’s.  Even when it looked like all hope was lost, God intervened because His people appealed to heaven.

“There’s got to be a hope that comes, if we appeal to heaven, He can turn this thing around,” Sheets said.

“Let it be said of our generation that when a nation teetered on the edge of destruction, having lost the ancient path of truth and righteousness, we answered the divine call to war for its restoration.”

Is France Bombing Syria the Start of World War 3?

Rumors of the beginning of World War III have swirled for weeks, but with France retaliating against the Islamic State, could this be it?

French President Francois Hollande called the attacks on Paris an “act of war,” before responding with bombs of their own against the Islamic State, which has claimed responsibility for the violence, according to multiple reports.

“It is an act of war that was committed by a terrorist army, a jihadist army, Daesh, against France,” Hollande said, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State. “It is an act of war that was prepared, organized and planned from abroad, with complicity from the inside, which the investigation will help establish.”

Some, like Pope Francis, are calling the attacks and rebuttal “piecemeal World War III,” according to Catholic News Agency.

The violence is indeed the worst the French capital has seen since World War II, with 129 dead and hundreds of others injured.

And while there have been calls for prayer, people like Charlie Hebdo cartoonist Joann Sfar asks people to not #PrayForParis.

“Friends from the whole world, thank you for #prayforparis, but we don’t need more religion,” Sfar, said. “Our faith goes to music! Kisses! Life! Champagne and Joy! #Parissaboutlife.”

The disinterest in faith, combined with the violence and natural disasters the world’s experienced in recent weeks, are all part of Jesus’ “beginning of sorrows” prophecies in Matthew 24:6-8:

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled. For all these things must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines, epidemics, and earthquakes in various places. All these things are the beginning of sorrows,” Jesus said.

He continued: “Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. And you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. Then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another. And many false prophets will rise and will deceive many. Because iniquity will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matt. 24:9-14).

Franklin Graham: ISIS Terrorism Is at Our Doorstep

While the city of love was in rampant chaos following multiple terrorist attacks, many took to social media to call for change to prevent violence from coming closer.

Among them was evangelist Franklin Graham, who spoke up about the ramifications of immigration around the world.

“We cannot allow Muslim immigrants to come across our borders unchecked while we are fighting this war on terror. If we continue to allow Muslim immigration, we’ll see much more of what happened in Paris—it’s on our doorstep,” Graham posted.

“France and Europe are being overrun by young Muslim men from the Middle East, and they do not know their backgrounds or their motives and intentions. Islam is not a peaceful religion as George W. Bush told us and as President Barack Obama has said—that is just not true,” he continued. “Our president and our politicians in Washington need to wake up before it’s too late. This is not the time to be politically correct. Our nation’s security is at stake. The future of our children and grandchildren is at stake. We should not allow any political or religious group who want to destroy us and our way of life to immigrate to this country.”

Graham blames hate and evil for the increased violence around the world.

In a separate Facebook post, Graham pointed that the attacks will not stop until people understand the power of prayer.

“My heart is still very heavy as I think about the 352 people injured and the 129 lives that were ended much too soon in Paris Friday night—all because of hearts filled with hate and evil,” Graham posted. “There is only one who can change the human heart and that is God. The Bible tells us, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). The good news for our world is that God can change any heart willing to turn to Him in true repentance and faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Prayers do make a real difference—so let’s continue to let the people of France know that we support them and are praying for them during these difficult days.”

ISIS Makes Clear and Present Threat on Washington

Islamic State warned in a new video on Monday that countries taking part in air strikes against Syria would suffer the same fate as France, and threatened to attack in Washington.

The video, which appeared on a site used by Islamic State to post its messages, begins with news footage of the aftermath of Friday’s Paris shootings in which at least 129 people were killed.

The message to countries involved in what it called the “crusader campaign” was delivered by a man dressed in fatigues and a turban, and identified in subtitles as Al Ghareeb the Algerian.

“We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France’s and by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington,” the man said.

It was not immediately possible to verify the authenticity of the video, which purports to be the work of Islamic State fighters in the Iraqi province of Salahuddine, north of Baghdad.

The French government has called the Paris attacks an act of war and said it would not end its air strikes against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

French fighter jets launched their biggest raids in Syria to date on Sunday targeting the Islamic State’s stronghold in the city of Raqqa. The operation was carried out in coordination with U.S. forces.

Police raided homes of suspected Islamist militants across France overnight following the Paris attacks.

“Al Ghareeb the Algerian” also warned Europe in the video that more attacks were coming.

“I say to the European countries that we are coming, coming with booby traps and explosives, coming with explosive belts and (gun) silencers and you will be unable to stop us because today we are much stronger than before,” he said.

Apparently referring to international talks to end the Syrian war, another man identified in the video as Al Karrar the Iraqi tells French President Francois Hollande “we have decided to negotiate with you in the trenches and not in the hotels.” {eoa}

SCOTUS Abortion Ruling Could Determine Law of the Land

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to hear a challenge to tough abortion restrictions in Texas raises questions about the legal fate of similar laws in more than a dozen other states.

The court’s ruling, due by June, could spell out the extent to which states can impose clinic regulations likely to restrict access to abortion as an outpatient procedure. If the court upholds the Texas law, similar laws would also fall. But if the court rules in favor of the state, then more states would be able to follow suit.

“Broadly speaking, the rule the Supreme Court crafts will impact all different types of regulation,” said Steven Aden, a lawyer with the Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative legal group that supports abortion restrictions.

A number of conservative-leaning states have passed laws in recent years governing abortion providers and clinics.

The case before the Supreme Court focuses on two provisions of a 2013 Texas law. One requires clinics providing abortions to have costly hospital-grade facilities and the other requires abortion clinic physicians to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles (50 km).

Ten of the 50 U.S. states have imposed admitting-privilege requirements similar to those in Texas, while six have enacted laws requiring hospital-grade facilities that mirror the Texas law, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights, which represents abortion providers in the case before the Supreme Court.

In total, 22 states have specific licensing standards for abortion clinics, although not all are as strict as Texas’, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports the right to an abortion, but whose research is cited by both sides in the debate.

Nancy Northup, president of the Center for Reproductive Rights, said that if the Texas law is upheld, “copy cat laws around the nation will proliferate, creating disparities in access to care.”

Courts have blocked six of the Texas-like admitting privileges laws, including measures in Wisconsin and Alabama.

A Mississippi law mandating admitting privileges, which would have led to the only abortion clinic in the state closing down, was put on hold by a lower court in 2012. That case is pending at the high court and will likely be put on hold until the justices rule in the Texas case.

Courts have been more favorable toward tightened rules for clinics providing abortions. Four of the six laws similar to Texas’, including measures in Missouri and Virginia, have been allowed, at least in part, to go into effect.

12 other states including Florida, South Carolina and Arkansas, have this year considered enacting similar laws but the bills did not pass, according the Guttmacher Institute.

Out-of-state organizations on both sides of the issue regularly intervene in advancing or trying to kill legislation in states around the country.

Americans United for Life, an anti-abortion group, has draft legislation that it encourages states to adopt. The group talks to state legislators, testifies in hearings and joins in defending laws in court. On the other side, groups like Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union lobby against new abortion restrictions.

Even when the Supreme Court in 1973 ruled that women had a constitutional right to have an abortion in the Roe v. Wade case, it made it clear that states could regulate clinics, said Denise Burke, American United for Life’s vice president of legal affairs.

If Texas wins in the high court, “it will give additional encouragement to states to follow Texas’ lead,” Burke said.

She cited Nebraska and Ohio as states that would be among those most likely to enact new laws.

The Supreme Court’s ruling in the Texas case is unlikely to directly affect other aspects of the broader abortion wars. Courts, for example, have consistently struck down stringent laws that aim to ban abortions at earlier stages of pregnancy. In January 2014, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Arizona officials seeking to reinstate such a ban.

But the justices will be asked again in coming months to take up the broader issue, with appeals coming that concern bans in Arkansas and North Dakota, both of which were struck down by lower courts. {eoa}

Philly Jesus Wants $70M to Spread the Gospel on the Big Screen

Philly Jesus wants to take his street ministry inside, but not in the way you might expect.

Michael Grant, more commonly known as “Philly Jesus” launched a gofundme for a whopping $70 million so he can “proclaim the glory of His name” to bring the gospel to the big screen.

He’s hoping to use his story for God’s glory.

“From being completely ran over by a mini-van by a ex-girlfriend in 2005, to being a local Philadelphia satanic music artist named Opal Weaver (youtube) who practiced witchcraft and addicted to shooting up heroin and smoking crack/cocaine living a dark evil selfish lifestyle of the devil for years, which eventually caught up to me,” Grant begins on gofundme.

“(I was put away ) in a court-stipulated program for 73 days where I hit rock bottom, while put away I found out that The Source of Existence Jesus Christ of Nazareth was the rock at the bottom, so I repented of my sins and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ The Son Of The Living God.”

Grant says he is now nearly three years sober and wants to use his talents, which he says includes rapping, singing, painting and dancing, to put on a production of the gospel. He says his goal is to make a movie or a theatrical play.

Nearly a year ago, Grant was arrested for “disorderly conduct,” Charisma News previously reported. But Grant’s lawyers say the charges were bogus.

“Those are charges that, in my experience, the government uses when you don’t do whatever the government wants you to do, or that the police officer wants you to do,” Grant’s lawyer Charles M. Gibbs told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Now, though, Grant’s focusing on the Great Commission.

“I have decided to dedicate my life to this artistic street ministry for the rest of my days on earth to honor and glorify one man, the man Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and to bring lost souls to Him,” Grant says.
