7 Signs That an Angel Is Next to You

Pastor, author and founder of New Life Church in South Africa, Dr. Miz Mzwakhe Tancredi says that there are seven things that happen when an angel enters your atmosphere. If you’re a believer, you probably know that there are angel(s) always next to you, but wouldn’t you like to be able to see the signs of it?

Tancredi says that there are seven things that happen when an angel of the Lord enterers your atmosphere.

“We all know what, according to Hebrews 1:14, angels are ministering spirits sent by God to minister to us. And, of course, angels are there for our protection, preservation and prosperity. But what happens when an angel enters your atmosphere?”

Here are seven ways to be aware of this, Tancredi says:

1. You feel a burning or heat sensation. That is because, according to Hebrews 1:7, angels are flames of fire. Genesis 3:4 tells us about a cherub God had placed at the Gate of Eden and had a flaming sword. It is as if every time we see angels, we will see fire.

“As a matter of fact, other angels are called chariots of fire. When Isaiah, in Isaiah 6:2, talks about the seraphim and how one placed the coal in his mouth, you’ll understand that the word seraphim is a Hebrew word for the bending ones. It usually happens when one is in prayer or worship. So when you begin to feel that just know that you have ascended; just know that you have cross the line of the natural and that you are now in the supernatural; you are in the spirit and angels are right where you are.”

2. You feeling a tingling sensation on your skin “Angels are spirits, so when they enter your atmosphere, your body will respond to their presence and how your body responds to their presence is that your hair will begin to either stand up or you feel this tingling sensation on your skin In the book of Job chapter 4, you read verse 15 and Job says a spirit passed by my face and the hair of my flesh stood up. It is very important that you understand that we are spiritual beings with Earthly experience, so every time a spirit enters our atmosphere or enters where we are, our spirit will pick it up and our body will respond to their presence.

3. Flashing lights or flickering lights. One has to understand that angels are creatures of light, so every time they enter a place or every time they enter your atmosphere, one will see light no matter what. Most of the time when one is in prayer or in worship and begins to see light, you are not seeing things that are there. What you are seeing are actually angels. According to Matthew 28 and you read verse three, the Bible then declares His countenance was like lightning. Talking about an angel that rolled the stone and set on top of the stone. In the book of Ezekiel, chapter 1 verse 14, “And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flesh of lightning.” … That is symbolic to the presence of an angel.

4. A gentle breeze. Feeling a gentle breeze or the movement of air around you without it having a physical causation is another undeniable proof that an angel has just entered your atmosphere. Remember the book of Psalm 104 verse 4 declares that his angels are winds, meaning he maketh his angels winds, and every time you read the Bible you realize that the Bible would describe wind between the wings of angels. So, if you’re in prayer you’re in worship or you meditating or you’re just in your room seated and all of a sudden you feel this gentle breeze, you know deep down that where you are, there is no way that you can be feeling what you feeling at that moment that an angel has just entered your atmosphere.

5. When you begin to feel joy, peace and love. Most people will be in prayer and all of a sudden they feel this unspeakable joy. They don’t know where it is coming from and they don’t know where this love or comfort is coming from, most of the times when angels appear or enters one’s atmosphere they come with joy. Even in the Bible, every time they appeared, they were heard saying I’m bringing you good tidings of great joy.

6. Unusual strength. This usually happens when one is in prayer and you feel strengthened in prayer. When Jesus was in prayer in Luke 22:43, the Bible says an angel appeared from heaven to strengthen Him and He continued to pray. So the secret there is that every time you feel that way, don’t stop praying, stop worshipping and don’t stop doing what you’re doing at that moment because we have the Holy Ghost who happens to be our strengthener. But there are angles who assignments are to strengthen us in a walk with God.

7. When you are in prayer and all of a sudden you start speaking in unusual tongues or tongues that you don’t speak. You will be shocked after releasing them and every time you try to pray in those tongues, you can’t pray using those tongues. Paul in the book of 1 Corinthians, talks about tongues of angels. So there are moments where you are in prayer and you switch from just praying in tongues into praying into tongues of angels. {eoa}

In the World, Not of It: Why These 2 Pentatonix Members Are Committed to Being a Light in Culture

In the glittering world of entertainment, where fame often overshadows faith, Pentatonix members Matt Sallee and Kevin Olusola stand out as devout Christians with a distinct mission.

Despite their international acclaim and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, they shun the title of celebrities, viewing themselves as “Daniels” on a mission to illuminate the darkest corners of mainstream culture.

For Olusola, the beatboxer and vocalist of the Grammy Award-winning group, being a “Daniel” means infiltrating culture while staying true to the one true God, a principle drawn from the biblical narrative. The goal, as he puts it, is to be a light in culture, showcasing the beauty, joy and relevance of the gospel in a way that dismantles the stigma surrounding it.

“We want people to see that the gospel can be relatable to their lives, whatever they’re going through,” Olusola expressed to The Christian Post.

Pentatonix’s musical journey is more than a climb to stardom; it’s a mission to express and share their faith. While not exclusively a Christian group, the group’s versions of songs such as “Mary, Did You Know?” and “Amazing Grace” convey a spiritual depth that transcends mere entertainment. Olusola emphasizes the unique power of music as a God-given medium, reaching hearts in ways other forms cannot.

“Music was created by the Creator,” he explains. “So, when you align to the Creator and how He’s purposely using it, then you get the true strength of what it’s called to be.” Both Olusola and Sallee believe that, though audiences may not see Jesus physically on stage, they hope people His presence through their music.

Navigating the complexities of an increasingly dark culture isn’t without its challenges. Both artists credit their upbringing for instilling the habits and teachings that anchor them in their spiritual journey. They recognize the importance of relying on the Holy Spirit and seeking guidance from fellow believers to maintain their purpose amidst the demands of touring.

Sallee, who joined Pentatonix in 2017, said, “It’s all about trusting the Holy Spirit … and yourself just to know that God’s called you in your purpose.”

Olusola emphasized the sense of being sent by God, stating, “I feel like when I’m sent, then the only way I can do this is through being aligned to Christ because it wasn’t mine to begin with.”

Looking ahead, the bandmates remain committed to aligning their talents with Christ’s will. Olusola emphasized that if their work is tainted by selfish motives, it undermines the purpose for which God sent them. Their goal is clear: to continuously align with Jesus so that His will for their musical journey is fulfilled.

In a world where celebrity often overshadows conviction, these Pentatonix artists remain steadfast in their mission to be Daniels in the spotlight, bringing light and faith to the forefront of mainstream culture.

Kat Von D on Leaving Behind Alcoholism, Throwing Away Occult Books and Baptism

Kat Von D is breaking her silence on how she became a Christian and her journey of leaving behind alcoholism, throwing away occult books and her baptism that left the entire world in awestruck.

On the Relatable podcast with Allie Beth Stuckey, Von D explained that she grew up learning about God, but that the concepts of Christianity didn’t stick with her.

“I ended up straying,” Von D says. “I ended up like being a pretty wild teenager and leaving home at the age of 14 running away and putting my parents through a literal hell that I have made amends for had a lot of questions as a kid and I don’t think my parents were equipped with the answers.”

Von D shares how as she strayed away from God, she found herself deep into alcoholism while simultaneously discovering that she wasn’t just a good tattoo artist, but that she was good enough to end up on reality TV.

“I started drinking not for fun. [It was] to cope with some of the trauma, and I didn’t understand that was like kind of the beginning of my addiction. I came back home and tried to work it out, it didn’t really work out. At that point my parents and I agreed this isn’t good for any of us, you should probably go on your I fell in love with tattooing, you know I really saw that as a calling,” Von D says. “From there I just got on TV.”

As Von D reached for sobriety, she may have found her battle with alcoholism waning, however, she was still on a path of self-help and new age discovery.

“That’s when I started getting into a lot of the new age stuff, like a lot of self-help books you, that’s kind of that was kind of like the gateway into like law of attraction type meditation, a lot of meditation.”

Eventually, Von D threw out her occult books because of the clutches it kept her in and turned her eyes toward God.

“I don’t want these crutches in my life anymore,” Von D explains. “I just want Jesus and it’s a very narrow these things it’s like they’re crutches; they’re not really like my answer, and so for me I would rather eliminate any distractions.”

Von D shared that it was during the 2020 lockdowns that she really started to question what she believed about an array of topics. It started off with her husband pointing out that some of their political views may not have matched up with the reality of what was going on. This led Von D to reflect on her political and eventually her spiritual beliefs.

“I started just kind of like re-evaluating, kind of going down the list of what I’m doing with my life and like what my perspectives are, and then it got to the part of like my spirituality and that’s where I started really re-thinking a lot of things.” Von D shares.

Von D says that she and her family watched online sermons and her hunger for Scripture grew more and more.

“I just desired more and more and more, and so I just started studying the Bible,” Von D says. For her, learning about Jesus as an adult has been exceptionally meaningful for her relationship with Jesus.

Her newfound faith led Von D to desire a public display of her faith by getting baptized and having it recorded. However, she’s received backlash from anything from being accused of not being genuine to her hand not being fully submerged in the water. Yet, Von D expected the criticism and is still continually seeking to grow her faith.

“When you start looking at like, there’ so much evidence that it’s so undeniable, I mean it’s so isn’t just about blind there’s like actual evidence and information that’s like so exciting and inspiring.” {eoa}

The Precious Scripture Jesus and Military Veterans Share

Because I am a veteran, some may think my title is a little presumptuous. However, I believe there is a Scripture that applies precisely to Jesus and veterans.

The apostle John being led by the Holy Spirit, wrote John 15:13 NLT “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This passage tells us that when Jesus went into ministry, He was willing to sacrifice His life for the benefit of others. When our American veterans sign up to serve their country, they are willing to go wherever they are sent by giving an oath to protect our country with their life.

This is the oath all military personnel make when they enlist to serve their country. “I do solemnly affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me.”

That oath reminds me of the words written by the apostle Paul in the book of Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV): “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests, but each of you to the interest of others.”

This oath proves the military must serve others. Jesus came to earth to serve.

Now, I am not so foolish to try and compare Jesus and veterans. Jesus lived a perfect life and never sinned. American veterans are men and women who are not perfect and have sinned like all of us. But they share a quality of Jesus and that is to love others.

Our veterans have been called to protect Americans’ borders and the borders of other nations from bondage. Jesus ministered and helped others to be set free from the bondage of sin. Jesus promised his followers that they could live life more abundantly. He gave his life so others could live free. American veterans went into battle around the world to bring freedom.

From the American Revolution in 1775 to Afghanistan over 41 million men and women have served their country in the military. They gave up careers, businesses, education, family and friends to serve our country. The Veterans Administration estimates that 4.9 million of all living veterans have some type of illness or injury connected to their service.

Excluding the Civil War, nearly 650,000 American troops have died in combat. Over 30% of our veterans report chronic health conditions. Sadly, an average of 20 American veterans commit suicide every day.

Today, we salute our veterans and the sacrifices of their families. When I see a veteran, I thank them for their service. We need to reach out to them and show our love by contacting our local and national politicians to increase veterans’ benefits.

Although there have been improvements in the Veterans Administration, there is still more we must do. Christians need to reach out to our veterans. Consider starting a veteran’s ministry in your city. I’m praying for a revival to break out in America’s veterans.

Just like we teach children about how much Jesus loves us, we must tell our children about how American veterans have served to keep us free. {eoa}

Following the Hamas Money Trail

We’ve heard the endless cries of “Free Palestine!” in recent weeks, but there’s a variation on this theme that hits the nail on the head: “Free Palestine from Hamas!”

It is true that the people of Gaza elected Hamas in 2006 and that, according to polling over the years, they continue to support Hamas.

At the same time, they did not have a wide range of choices when they voted. As noted on , “The election saw a political split between the secular Fatah (a branch of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO)) that dominated the PLO since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, and the Islamist Hamas that formed in 1987 as an offshoot of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood.”

So, it was Fatah (part of the PLO) vs. Hamas, the more secular vs. the more religious, with neither one being a true peace partner with Israel. And in the end, Hamas only garnered 44% of the vote but gained a majority of legislative seats, from which point it took over the government.

Either way, however they came to power, their leadership has decimated Gaza and brought about great suffering on the populace, all while the leaders enrich themselves and countless hundreds of millions of dollars pour into anti-Israeli terrorist efforts.

As the New York Post reported this week, “While their people languish in poverty and are treated as human shields, the leaders of Hamas live billionaire lifestyles.

“The terror group’s three top leaders alone are worth a staggering $11 billion between them and enjoy a life of luxury in the sanctuary of the emirate of Qatar.”

Not only so, but back in 2012, the Gatestone Institute noted that “according to an investigative report published in the pan-Arab newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, there are at least 600 millionaires living in the Gaza Strip. The newspaper report also refutes the claim that the Gaza Strip has been facing a humanitarian crisis because of an Israeli blockade.”

Yes, “The Palestinian millionaires, according to the report, have made their wealth thanks to the hundreds of underground tunnels along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.”

“Informed Palestinian sources revealed that every day, in addition to weapons, thousands of tons of fuel, medicine, various types of merchandise, vehicles, electrical appliances, drugs, medicine and cigarettes are smuggled into the Gaza Strip through more than 400 tunnels. A former Sudanese government official who visited the Gaza Strip lately was quoted as saying that he found basic goods that were not available in Sudan. Almost all the tunnels are controlled by the Hamas government, which has established a special commission to oversee the smuggling business, which makes the Hamas government the biggest benefactor of the smuggling industry.”

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up-to-date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

Speaking of those tunnels, reports indicate that there are 300 miles of tunnels underneath Gaza to the point that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that, “Gaza is the largest terror base built by mankind, ever—the entire city is one big terror base.” And who can calculate the amount of money that has been spent on weaponry?

According to the Times of Israel, “As the residents of the Gaza Strip endure daily hardships due to the dire economic situation in the enclave, their Hamas leaders spend over $100 million a year on the group’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, according to estimates by both Israeli and Palestinian sources. Spending on digging tunnels accounts for some $40 million of that annual sum.”

NBC News reported that, “The unemployment rate in Gaza is 47% and more than 80% of its population lives in poverty, according to the United Nations. Hamas, however, has funded an armed force of thousands equipped with rockets and drones and built a vast web of tunnels under Gaza. Estimates of its annual military budget range from $100 million to $350 million, according to Israeli and Palestinian sources.”

Not only so, but it is claimed that, “Hamas’ leadership has invested its income in an international investment portfolio worth $500 million in real estate and other assets from companies in Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, which it uses to conceal and launder its money, according to a Treasury announcement.”

The Guardian notes that, “The World Food Programme estimates that in normal times, more than 60% of Gaza’s population faces food insecurity.”

And a report on the BESA (The Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies), states that “the electricity infrastructure in Gaza is in deplorable condition. The population of Gaza receives an average of four hours per day of continuous electricity supply from the main grid. Much of this is due to the dilapidated electricity infrastructure in Gaza that was damaged during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. Though large sums in foreign aid were delivered to Hamas specifically to reconstruct the grid, Hamas has diverted the funds elsewhere and left the grid in its current condition.”

So, to sum this up, Hamas leaders enrich themselves to obscene proportions while hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on terror tunnels and weaponry rather than on improving the lifestyle of the people. They, in turn, struggle to make ends meet, with unemployment at 47 percent and more than 80% living in poverty and with roughly four hours per day of continuous electricity.

And I haven’t said a word about the oppressive Sharia-related policies of Hamas. Just the money trail is enough to modify that ubiquitous chant. So, “Free Palestine” indeed—from Hamas. {eoa}

Eye-Opening Revelations of Modern Evangelism in America

Evangelism is a key tenet of the Christian faith, but how many of us really share our faith on a regular basis?

Jesus told us to “go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” (Matt. 28:19) — baptizing, teaching and discipling through His power. If He is empowering us, what is our excuse?

The Body of Christ and Evangelism

In the modern American church we are seeing a huge drop in Christians sharing their faith anywhere and shockingly, according to a report that Barna put out in 2019, almost half of practicing Christian millennials say that evangelism is wrong. So not only is the younger generation of Christians not learning how to share their faith—but they are going a step further and discouraging evangelism.

For the body of Christ to grow and expand, we must be willing to open our mouths and share what Jesus has done for us and the good news of the gospel. From my personal experience sharing on the streets with these two ministries featured here—there are many people who have not ever heard about Jesus and the plan of salvation in our own neighborhoods.

I interviewed two evangelistic ministries located in the metroplex of Dallas-Fort Worth to find out what is really going on in the body of Christ related to evangelism and how we can be encouraged to break out of our comfort zones and love people through the sharing of Jesus everywhere we go.

Shawn Carlson is the executive director at Time to Revive (TTR). Founded by Kyle Lance Martin, TTR is equipping the saints for the return of Christ. They started out going city to city throughout the U.S., stirring up the church to come together, to be equipped to share with people and then leading outreaches for a weekend or weeks at a time in that local region. Though they still have active ministries all over the nation, they have moved to an international focus all over the world through their product reviveSCHOOL, now in 85 countries that is discipling people on the totality of the Scriptures revealing the Messiah from Genesis to Revelation and empowering ordinary people to make disciples.

Wade Aaron is the founder of Christ’s Reward. His ministry focuses on evangelism, church workshops, “by faith” mission trips, and provides online equipping materials and resources for believers to walk out their faith in a practical way.

This is one of two articles with their insights, and I challenge you to read their words and pray about how God might have you respond to Him. (Some of their answers were edited for the sake of time and conciseness).

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

Bunni Pounds: My question to both of these men of God—let’s start at the beginning. What is the gospel of Jesus Christ? And how does it transform lives?

Shawn Carlson: The gospel is simply that we are children of God. We’re created by God, but we’re separated from this holy, perfect God, because of our sin. Sin cannot live in the presence of perfection, and so we have a serious problem. We must be reconciled to Him. He’s grieved by the fact that we’re not with Him, so He’s created a way for us to be reconciled back to Him. Jesus became a sacrifice so that we could be free from our sins that separated us from Him, and that He could atone for them, and take care of them. When we believe and put our faith and trust in Jesus, then we get to enter back into that relationship with God because of what He did for us. And that results in eternal life, both here on Earth and forever in heaven.

Wade Aaron: I think this is great that you’re asking this question. I was just at the University of North Texas sharing the gospel and this was the question I was asking the students that I encountered. Probably half of my encounters were with believers at the university. And I kept saying, “What is the gospel?” They would say that they believe in Jesus, but when I asked, “What is the gospel?” I got all kinds of answers. I would say to them, “the gospel at its simplicity is Jesus.” Then I would ask them — “Why is He the gospel?” Then I would say, “because without Him, we’d be drowning in our sin.” With Jesus, we are forgiven of our sins and the taking away of our sins is the greatest news ever.

This is what I believe, and I share it all the time. But this is only part of the gospel. The good news is that the only thing He asks us to do is put our faith in Him. He’s not looking for us to be better people. He’s not looking for us to do more. He’s just looking for us to put our faith in Him and make Him the Lord of our lives. It’s a really simple message. The gospel is amazingly simple. The forgiveness of sins, putting our faith in Him and surrendering to Him—this is the Good News. Jesus is the Good News. He’s the hope for all.

The State of the American Church

Bunni Pounds: This is a huge question. Sharing our faith should be a basic tenet of Christianity, but we’re not really seeing that much in the American church right now? How would you describe the state of the American church as it relates to sharing our faith right now?

Shawn Carlson: It’s easy to be critical of the American church, I think, but a couple of years ago, somebody said something to me that caught my attention. They said, “remember that we are talking about the bride of Christ.” We need to be careful about how hard we are on the church of Jesus Christ.

There is an intercessor in Rockwall, TX that said something profound to me, “You can’t correct on something you haven’t been trained on.” I just don’t think that the American church has been trained to share the gospel; it’s from the top down. And it’s not for lack of want or lack of trying; we just haven’t been trained. I got a guy that I run into at my local coffee shop. He’s attending a well-respected seminary in town and finishing up his degree and he’s putting off his evangelism class until the very end. Seminaries just don’t teach much about prayer or evangelism. If the pastors aren’t being taught evangelism, then the members in the seats aren’t going to be taught evangelism. The state of the American church rests on the fact that we just haven’t been trained. If we haven’t trained, we can’t correct anything.

Wade Aaron: I’ve had quite a diverse experience within the American church and specifically as it relates to evangelism. I would say overall, we’re dealing with a lot of churches that are pastoral, and no matter what denomination it is, I’ve seen there’s just a lack of emphasis on evangelism. I’ve studied different stats, but there’s no one cookie cutter stat. I think there’s a very lack of awareness and so many people are just trying strategies to bring people into their churches. A pastor I met the other day said to me, “what you’re doing is what Jesus said to do — go preach the gospel, heal the sick and cast out demons and then disciple them.” We want them to ultimately get into the church, but overall, I would describe the church as weak currently. In my terminology, we are weak, almost sick, and we need to be revived.

A Powerful Motivation to Stir Up the Body of Christ

Bunni Pounds: What motivates you every day to revive the church and operate in the gift of evangelist to stir up the Body of Christ? When you wake up each day, what do you think about to keep moving? How do you answer the question — this is why I am doing what I am doing?

Shawn Carlson: This is probably a fleshly answer, but it’s a thrill! When you talk to somebody, and they encounter the Lord in whatever way through the Word, maybe through just a demonstration of love and act of kindness, a verse or whatever it is, they encounter the Lord, and you can see their life change. It is a thrill. It’s an adventure. That is not a great spiritual answer, but I believe it is the answer God wants me to give. It is what drives me. I enjoy seeing people experience God in that way.

Wade Aaron: I would say number one, I have a desire to be obedient to the Lord. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the gospel and heal the sick. Before I was, what people would say — an evangelist, I just was trying to be obedient. And then I started realizing that part of my role is to equip the church. The thing that keeps me going is that there are people that are open to the gospel. They are waiting for someone to come talk to them about the Lord. One thing that keeps me motivated is the joy of salvation—seeing people respond to the gospel. But there is the need in the body of Christ for Christians to be equipped, and I want to try to help individual churches to help get their church community activated outside the four walls of the church. I can’t just be the only one that teaches it, so I love going out and taking others with me to learn. Even if I don’t have someone with me, it’s now a part of my lifestyle. I carry a 12-foot cross into cities in America, and I love it.

Recycling Believers—A Transfer of Sheep

Bunni Pounds: How much priority is there on evangelism in the American church or how much are we just recycling believers from church to church? I haven’t seen statistics on it, but I’m sure that a large amount of our church growth is recycled Christians. What have you seen?

Shawn Carlson: It’s a very low percentage of people who are actually new church growth. Just think about how much church marketing attracts new people; we must have a social media presence, we must be community focused, do events, have a banner up, but the messaging is geared toward an audience who knows what the language is. That’s where most of the training resources and discipleship resources go into — marketing of churches and that produces the transfer of sheep.

Bunni Pounds bookWe don’t spend enough training our people how to go out into our communities, our neighborhoods, right around our churches, and just talk to people and share the gospel with them, teaching them about who Jesus is, and how their life can change by following Him and being plugged into a healthy church community or church body.

Wade Aaron: I would say most of the church overall is transfer of growth. We say, I don’t like this church, so I’m going to go to this other church. There are some churches that are seeing growth because of new believers and going out, but they are a small percentage. I would say, overall, we’re expecting people to come into the four walls of our church, have an encounter with God, or hear a message, come down to the altar and get saved.

From Laughter to Devotion: Bill Engvall’s Deepening Faith Journey

Picking up his cross and following Jesus, renowned comedian Bill Engvall has announced his final comedy special, “Here Is Your Sign It’s Finally Time: My Last Show,” will be released this winter on Dec. 5.

Engvall gained immense fame as part of the four-man “Blue Collar Comedy Tour” that took the country by storm from 2000-2006. Joining him on the stage were the titans of rural comedy: Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy.

But comedy has changed a lot since Engvall was at its peak. Now, cancel culture routinely attacks those who are found to be “offensive,” and Engvall believes that has no place at a comedy show.

“Comedy is the best thing in the world, to be able to go to a place and laugh… Don’t go with the attitude that you’re gonna try to find something that’s offensive. If that’s what you’re wanting to do, then I don’t know where to tell you to go, but just please don’t do it at a comedy show,” he says.

This new act for Engvall is a more spiritual role, as opposed to the funny-man routine that earned him fame and fortune.

After becoming an ordained minister, Engvall continued his journey to know the Lord better and deeper by studying at the Christian Grand Canyon University. He would go on to receive a degree in Christian studies.

Engvall shared with Fox News about this new season in life, leaving comedy behind and making God the priority moving forward.

“You know, I always considered myself probably what we used to call a C&E—you know, church was Christmas and Easter,” he jokes. “I have become an ordained minister. I have the great honor of baptizing both my grandkids, and I’ve got a couple of weddings coming up. And it’s just really, really fun.

“My relationship with God—I feel like one of the problems that we’ve had in religion is that we all feel like we all have to have the same relationship with God, which we don’t. Mine will be different than yours. Yours would be different than someone else’s,” he adds.

This new direction has impacted his final comedy special as well.

While never known for working ‘blue’ as a foul-mouthed comic, especially compared to many of the prominent acts of today, Engvall has made a conscious effort to ensure his special can be enjoyed and viewed by everyone.

“I feel like, honestly, that my show is probably one of the cleaner shows out there,” Engvall says. “I mean, there’s no swearing, there’s no dropping F-bombs and all that. … It’s something that I really have felt strong about. … I didn’t feel that any of the material on there was offensive. It’s, you know, it’s what I’ve done my whole career, and that’s obviously worked for whatever reason.”

Re-prioritizing the things of life also helped Engvall come to the decision that it was time to hang up the mic and spend time with family, which he missed while touring.

“It seemed like I was missing out on stuff … the same kind of stuff I had missed out on with my kids. … But I didn’t want to go through that again. I wanted to be able to really spend time with my kids and my wife and our grandkids. And so, I just knew. It was one of those things you just kind of know.” {eoa}

Jewish Man’s Death Prompts Hate-Crime Investigation

An elderly Jewish man was killed in California while taking part in a pro-Israel rally.

The 69-year-old Paul Kessler is seen waving an Israeli flag on the sidewalk from photos taken at the event.

Law enforcement report that they received calls of an assault taking place at the rally when an altercation broke out between Kessler and an unnamed pro-Palestinian counter-protester.

Initial reports and eyewitnesses claimed that Kessler was bludgeoned by the counter-protester’s megaphone causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the cement sidewalk.

“Witness accounts indicated that Kessler was involved in a physical altercation with [pro-Palestinian] counter-protesters,” says the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department press release. “During the altercation, Kessler fell backward and struck his head on the ground.”

The incident is still under investigation, but the sheriff’s department has not ruled out the “possibility of a hate crime.”

Included in the release was the autopsy of Kessler conducted by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. It was determined that Kessler’s cause of death was blunt force head injury and the manner of death to be homicide.

The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, released a statement following the incident:

“We mourn the death of the Jewish man who died after being injured during a protest in Thousand Oaks. As details emerge and are confirmed, we stand resolute in condemnation of violence and antisemitism. This death is a blow to our region at a time when tensions continue to rise worldwide. We must redouble our efforts to ensure violence and hate are met with accountability and consequences. Los Angeles refuses to harbor this hatred.”

This tragic event took place as antisemitism is sweeping across the globe, with Jews and Israelis being threatened with violence and death in nearly every Western country. Major cities are no longer safe for Jews, as massive protests in the hundreds of thousands take place calling for the eradication of God’s chosen people.

Yet even as evil forces continue to target Jewish worldwide, the Lord is actively protecting and strengthening His people during these trying times.

Celebrating the Miracle of Our New House Speaker Mike Johnson

After 22 days of the American public wondering if the House Republicans would ever come together, they finally became unified around a humble Christian man.

Congressman Mike Johnson from Louisiana—a man who came to Congress to bring more civility and good governance to the House—is our new Speaker and the third in line for the Presidency. This is a story that will go down in the history books. What a miracle!

The Divisions, The Frustrations

Many people, including myself, were frustrated at the divisions among the House Republicans over the last few weeks, but these divisions have been there all along. The Republican Conference has everyone from extreme moderate Republicans who might not be social or fiscal conservatives, to the conservative Members in the Freedom Caucus — with about four shades of Republicans in between.

Those who work as part of the Republican Study Committee, the largest caucus of conservatives, don’t often see eye to eye with the Freedom Caucus Members. And then you have Republicans who are a part of the bi-partisan Problem Solvers Caucus, and many more different groups. Their priorities for their districts and their ideologies are radically different from one another.

Also, the Republican Conference has many deep thinkers who pursue the first principles of our nation as well as some members who just “go along to get along.” It is a diverse conference to say the least; and good, godly people can be in several of those factions trying to make a difference for the people who elected them.

Whether it was wise to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy, without what now appears to be a real plan of what to do afterwards, we can agree or disagree. That debate will continue, I am sure. But that is for another day.

For today—we celebrate.

We celebrate a miracle that after the Republicans nominated Rep. Steve Scalise, Rep. Jim Jordan and Rep. Tom Emmer, the fourth nominee is the one who stuck.

A Real Christian Who Loves God and the Constitution

The miracle of this–a real Christian who loves God, loves his family, loves the Constitution and teaches in regularly in local churches around Louisiana, and who worked for Alliance Defending Freedom for Years defending religious liberty–just got elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

This 51-year-ld leader as born to a mother who was only 17 when she gave irthda, according to this speech. His father was a fighter in Shreveport, Louisiana, who was disabled in the line of duty and who died of cancer just three days before Johnson was elected to Congress. Speaker Johnson was the first to graduate from college in his family but went on to become a college professor, a media spokesman for America’s largest religious liberty organizations and someone who has given his life and time to community groups and ministries. This is the man who is now the U.S. Speaker of the House.

Congressman Johnson and I have met several times and we have had extended conversations at events and over the phone about the importance of the body of Christ getting involved in the processes within government. He even addressed our Christians Engaged group when we went to D.C. this summer, sharing his deep faith and the importance of Christians praying, voting and engaging. We prayed for him and his family.

In his speech today, Speaker Johnson talked about God’s hand in the affairs of men, and you could see that he felt it to his bones. He then made it clear that the first resolution that he will pass in the U.S. House as Speaker will be standing up against Hamas and clarifying our nation’s commitment to Israel.

Bringing Civility to Capitol Hill

Elected in 2016, Congressman Mike Johnson came to Congress to bring more civility to the House of Representatives. He even wrote a paper as a freshman that 49 Members signed onto from both sides of the aisle. He was a strong conservative legislator in the Louisiana House of Representatives from February 2015 to January 2017, running twice without opposition and then running for Congress in 2016 and winning by the largest margin of victory in his region in more than 50 years. He is currently serving his fourth term in Congress.

After only one term, Mike became the chair of the Republican Study Committee, the largest caucus of conservatives in Congress, known as “the intellectual arsenal of conservatism in the House.” During that time, he helped write the Conservative Playbook, a “Framework for Personalized, Affordable Care,” and a budget paper called “Preserving American Freedom: Liberty, Opportunity, Security,” just to name a few.

Rising to more prominent leadership in January 2021, Mike was elected to serve as Vice Chairman of the House Republican Conference. This is an important job helping the conference with messaging, talking points and strategy—and it is one of the seven elected leadership positions for Republicans. These leaders are elected by their peers. In November 2022, Mike was unanimously re-elected to serve another term in this position where he helped fight for core conservative principles that he detailed out in his speech today.

Speaker Mike Johnson has a solid conservative voting record with a lifetime rating of 92% from the American Conservative Union and 90% from Heritage Action. Being in leadership where Members are expected to compromise more, this is extremely hard to accomplish.

Reaction From His Peers

Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01), a new freshman member who has been encouraged and mentored by Mike, congratulated him today. “Mike Johnson is one of the finest men I have known, inside or outside of politics. He is a true constitutional conservative and a Christian who is a smart, steady and tough leader. Mike is unwavering in his convictions, a true patriot and the one who can unify our efforts in the House to push back against the many failed policies of the Biden administration,” said Rep. Moran. “I was extremely pleased with his selection by the Republican conference as the nominee, and even more pleased to enthusiastically cast my vote for him as Speaker on the floor of the House.”

And Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27), another strong Christian voice in Congress, said, “I’m thrilled to congratulate my friend and brother in Christ, Mike Johnson, on his election as Speaker of the House. Mike is a principled fighter, a warrior for conservative values and a man of faith who will work every day to put Americans first. I look forward to working with him and continuing our mission to bring the kind of change Washington D.C. desperately needs!”

The Work is Just Begun and Speaker Johnson Needs Our Prayers

Going from the 7th in leadership to the top position in the House is going to be a big transition for Congressman Mike Johnson, his family and his staff.

We celebrate this miracle and victory for the House, but the work has just begun.

I want to appeal to every believer in Jesus to pray fervently for Speaker Johnson, his wife, Kelly, who “spent the last few weeks on her knees” and his precious four children, Hannah, Abigail, Jack and Will.

Also, please pray for his staff who are probably in a state of shock that their boss is now the Speaker of the House. After weeks of exhaustion dealing with everything in Washington D.C., they must go into a new season of expanding their ranks and making sure they have the right staffers around the new Speaker.

This was a big day for the U.S. House of Representatives and for all of us in this nation.

For when this young man, who came to Washington to bring civility and good governance, said in his speech today, “This speaker’s office is going to be known for decentralizing power here,” I believed him—and will be praying for his success.

Please join me. {eoa}
