Be Broken for Jesus

There’s a story about a little boy who was poor and in need of shoes. He stood in front of a shoe store, barefoot and shivering with cold. A woman approached him and asked why he was standing there, looking through the window. He told her, “Well, ma’am, I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes.”

The woman took the boy into the store, washed his dirty, bare feet and put new socks and shoes on them. The boy was so touched by her care and concern that he asked her, “Ma’am, are you God’s wife?” He assumed if she showed him that kind of love, she must be related to God.

This story is one of the best examples of what it truly means to walk in love. And our goal as believers in Christ is to show God’s love so people see Him shining through us every day.

Matthew 26:26 (NIV) says, “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.’” We should note that Jesus blessed the bread, broke it and then gave it to the disciples.

We usually refer to this Scripture when we have Communion to remind us of the sacrifice He made for us. But just as Jesus gave His life and was broken for us, we must be broken so we can live for Him.

We don’t like to think about God breaking us, but when we experience it, we learn that it’s really a wonderful thing. Because when we’re born again, the seed of God’s nature—all that He is—is planted in our spirits.

A Holiday Discovery: Could This Be the Final Resting Place of Saint Nicholas?

The recent discovery of a limestone sarcophagus at the Church of St. Nicholas in Demre, Antalya, Turkey, has stirred global intrigue just in time for Christmas.

Believed to be the original burial site of Saint Nicholas—the 4th-century bishop whose life inspired the Santa Claus legend—this archaeological find offers a rare glimpse into history. Yet, as we marvel at this discovery, it’s essential to reflect on the deeper meaning of Christmas.

According to Associate Professor Ebru Fatma Findik, who leads the “Legacy for the Future Project” under Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the sarcophagus’s characteristics align with burial styles from the time. “Our biggest hope is to find an inscription on the sarcophagus,” she said, noting it could confirm its occupant’s identity and dating. Measuring two meters in length, with a pitched roof and raised lid, the sarcophagus was uncovered in the church’s annex, lending credibility to its historical significance.

Saint Nicholas was a man of faith, generosity and miraculous intercessions. Born in the ancient city of Myra (now Demre), he became Bishop of Myra and died in A.D. 343. Over time, his relics were relocated, most notably to Bari, Italy, and Venice. However, this latest discovery suggests that his original resting place was near the very church named after him, as reported by Archaeology News.

“The fact that we have found a sarcophagus near the church, thought to house his tomb, may indicate that this is indeed the sacred area we have been searching for,” Dr. Findik explained. Fragments of clay lamps and animal bones uncovered at the site further attest to its historic use as a burial ground.

While the archaeological findings celebrate Saint Nicholas’ legacy as a patron saint of children and sailors, they also invite a deeper reflection on the true meaning of Christmas. Though the image of Santa Claus has evolved into a symbol of gift-giving and festive cheer, the heart of the holiday is not about material generosity but about the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas commemorates the incarnation of God—the moment when Jesus entered the world to offer salvation to all of humanity. The story of Saint Nicholas, known for his acts of charity, mirrors this divine generosity. Yet, the greater gift lies in the promise of eternal life through Christ. As Luke 2:11 proclaims, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Shrouded in Secrecy: The Ongoing Mystery of US Drones

The mystery only seems to deepen about who or what is behind the drone activity in the eastern U.S.  And all agree the government needs to say more.

The mysterious drones have been spotted in the skies above at least seven states from New York to Virginia, including dozens or drones seen in New Jersey.

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer wants the government to use a drone called the Robin to find out what they are.

“People who have questions about these drones should not have to shake an ‘Eight Ball’ to get an answer. They want real answers, and the Robin can supply those answers. And that’s why we want them here,” he said.

The FAA shut down Stewart International Airport north of New York City Friday night after multiple reported drone sightings in the area.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told ABC’s “This Week” program that this is not a national security threat. “We know of no foreign involvement with respect to the sightings in the Northeast. And we are vigilant in investigating this matter,” Mayorkas said.

John Ferguson, CEO of Saxon Aerospace, a drone manufacturer, believes the drones are trying to detect something.

“They have no reason to be in the air at night unless you’re doing some type of ‘ISR’ work – intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance – looking for bad guys or looking for a search and rescue victim, or law enforcement or some type of military project.”

Former CIA operations officer Laura Ballman told Fox News that statements by officials make her think the drone activity could be a classified exercise. “The statements that have been made by John Kirby, who has said that these objects are not operating illegally,” Ballman gave as an example.

Unveiling the Days of Noah: Giants, Portals and Prophetic Warnings

In a mind-blowing interview on Prophecy Watchers, Steve Quayle and Gary Stearman delved into topics often dismissed but increasingly difficult to ignore: ancient giants, supernatural portals and the implications of artificial intelligence.

Their discussion points to a biblical warning meant for our time: the days of Noah are returning, and Christians must remain vigilant.

“The entire concept of false narratives within the Christian church, especially regarding Genesis 6, has distorted our understanding of biblical truths,” Quayle said. He pointed to the grandeur of ancient Egyptian monuments, arguing that their scale was likely designed for giants, not “just a pharaoh claiming to be bigger than life.” Quayle asserted, “Under the Giza Plateau, there is the city of giants … 100 square miles of massive architecture built to giant dimensions.”

Such claims might sound far-fetched to some, but they resonate with Scriptural accounts of the Nephilim, described in Genesis 6:4: “The sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them.” Stearman added, “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man” (Luke 17:26), pointing to Jesus’ warning about the conditions of the last days.

Their conversation expanded to modern phenomena, including UFO sightings, unexplained orbs and spirals in the sky. Stearman noted, “The standard denial no longer exists … we can no longer ignore it or deny it.” These occurrences, they argued, could be linked to ancient practices of tribes performing rituals to open portals for “gods” to enter our realm. “We’ve heard about chants that open various portals, and they court the gods who then have conversations with human beings,” Quayle said.

Order L.A. Marzulli’s book “Rungs of Disclosure” on !

The interview also tackled the advent of artificial intelligence and its role in what Henry Kissinger allegedly called a new era of “superhuman people” controlling Earth. “We’ve now reached the era when we are able to open time-space gates to some other dimension,” Quayle claimed, linking AI’s promises of god-like knowledge to the serpent’s deception in Eden: “You will be like God” (Gen. 3:5).

Quayle reflected on humanity’s drive for immortality, citing transhumanist Zoltan Istvan: “At the heart of every transhumanist is [a desire] not to die and to live forever.” He cautioned Christians to recognize the danger of seeking eternal life apart from God. “Man’s lust for eternal life in a context that is not biblical reveals their rebellion against God’s plan,” he said.

Quayle and Stearman’s discussion serves as a wake-up call for Christians. In a world increasingly saturated with technological advancements, supernatural phenomena and deceptive narratives, believers must ground themselves in Scripture. Jesus’ teachings and warnings about the last days, as in the days of Noah, call us to spiritual readiness.

The difference between God’s way and man’s way, is that we are placed on this Earth to manifest the kingdom of God and win people for Jesus. As Christians, our responsibility is to stay alert, align with God’s will and prepare for Christ’s return. We need to proactively heed these prophetic insights and encourage others to remain steadfast in faith, for “the coming of the Son of Man” is near.

Faithful ‘Teary-Eyed’ Approaching Wooden Cross Surviving Raging Wildfire

A wooden cross overlooking Malibu, California, somehow survived a sweeping fire unscathed, despite nearly everything around it being destroyed.

Set on a hill above Pepperdine, a private Christian university, the 20-foot cross remained standing as the Franklin Fire blazed across the Santa Monica Mountains this week, FOX Weather reported.

“The paint is waterproof, but not fireproof,” the Sigma Chi fraternity at Pepperdine told FOX Weather.

Six years prior, the fraternity carried the structure up the mountain to replace the previous cross, which burned down in the Woolsey Fire on Nov. 10, 2018.

Students and faculty were moved by the apparent miracle.

“As I got closer, I began to get teary-eyed … I am grateful to God that he spared Pepperdine and this cross, that burned down during the Woolsey Fire and had to be replaced,” Pepperdine University shared as a caption to its YouTube video on Wednesday.

“Somehow he spared it, as if he wanted us to have something tangible to hold onto to help us through the difficulty we just went through.”

The Franklin Fire ignited Monday night, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze has since burned 4,037 acres and is only 35% contained.

Cooler weather is helping firefighters battle the Franklin Fire in Malibu which was first discovered late Monday night.

“The fire continues to smolder in steep and very dangerous terrain. Aerial suppression efforts in those areas have been successful in keeping the fire subdued,” Cal Fire said in a written summary statement.

“Cooler weather, higher humidities, as well as the absence of strong winds have assisted firefighting efforts. Damage inspections are ongoing. Priority remains to repopulate evacuated areas as quickly and efficiently safe to do so.”

Nearly 2,000 firemen are battling the blaze, according to FOX Weather.

3,700 Malibu residents were permitted to return home, but 1,600 remain under mandatory evacuation orders, FOX Weather reported.

Are Schools Keeping Kids’ Gender Transitions a Secret from Parents?

After the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a case surrounding a public school district’s policy of concealing student gender transitions from parents, a veteran attorney who worked at the U.S. Department of Education is explaining the massive implications.

Earlier this week, the high court declined to hear Parents Protecting Our Children, UA v. Eau Claire Area School District, a case that would have put parental rights front and center.

Sarah Parshall Perry, a senior legal fellow in the Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation and a former senior counsel at the U.S. Department of Education, said the battle centered on policies implemented at the Eau Claire Area School District in Wisconsin.

“The Supreme Court decided that they were not going to take up what was a challenge to the constitutionality of a school policy keeping gender identity information of minor children … confidential from their parents,” Perry said. “Now, this is a shocking policy, but it is one of about 1,200 policies across the country.”

In fact, the legal expert said there are around 12 million American kids in public schools across America who fall under such guidelines.

“If they identified as transgender or gender dysphoric, or … using different names or pronouns, their parents could not find out that information on the child’s say-so,” Perry said. “All a child would have to do is say, ‘Keep that information confidential for my parents,’ and that’s exactly what would happen.”

Before the case reached the Supreme Court, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had said the parents in the case lacked standing, meaning they had not been harmed and, thus, couldn’t take action. Perry explained what this means in practice.

“An interesting thing to note about this particular case coming out of Wisconsin is that the individual group of parents, a coalition of parents, did not have any children who identified as being transgender or with gender dysphoria,” she said. “It’s significant because the parents challenged the policy on a facial basis.”

This is a term that essentially means the parents believed the school district policy is unconstitutional in and of itself and must be struck down for the good of all. On the contrary, an as-applied constitutional challenge is one that sees a law or policy as unconstitutional in a specific context.

Perry said the facial argument, in her view, is appropriate for the parents’ case.

Christmas: Time for Wishing and Wonder

I sat silently across the room, watching my 3-year-old granddaughter turning the pages of the J. C. Penney Christmas catalogue. Unaware of my presence, she was softly whispering the names of the hundreds of marvelous items pictured in the big “wish book” that lay across her knees.

“Fuzzy bear, rocky horse, bubble gum machine, roller skates, fire truck … “

I was mesmerized. Kristin’s bright blue eyes twinkled as she put her stubby little finger on each picture.

“Cinderella doll, red wagon, Big Bird, tricycle … “

I listened carefully. Is it so wrong to wish? I’m not sure I ever really believed in Santa Claus. But it was fun to wonder. And to wish. Each year, early on Christmas Eve, Daddy would take us downtown. The main street, which was only three blocks long, ended at the park.

Pretty soon the city fire truck, siren howling, would arrive as the climax to the Christmas parade. Mr. O’Malley, who owned the restaurant, always dressed up like Santa and rode on the back of the truck. He carried a big bagful of hard candy and Cracker Jack boxes. Each kid, no matter how poor, got something.

Then Mr. McWilliams, the mayor, would turn on the lights on the big tree in the center of the park next to the old World War I cannons. The choir from the Baptist church would sing carols. Then it would be time to go back to the house. To wait. To wish.

Is it so wrong to wish?

Christmas Eve was a time of wonderful expectation. Daddy would bring us together around the tree which always stood in the same place, in a small alcove next to the stairs. The rest of the year an ancient spinning wheel sat there, but we kids knew that it was just guarding the spot until next Christmas when the tree would appear—that wonderful tree with the wonderful ornaments. When all the kids were in place, sitting cross-legged on the floor, Daddy would recite from memory: “‘Twas the night before Christmas / And all through the house … ”

Lying in my bed upstairs, listening, I could hear the sound of my younger brother’s breathing as he lay in the bed across the room. We would not speak. To do so would have broken the spell. But I knew he was wishing, as I was.

I wondered what it would be like, spending Christmas as my mother and daddy used to spend theirs with snow on the ground and the sound of sleigh bells ringing—are you listening? Instead there was the sound of the balmy Florida breeze rustling the palm trees outside my window.

Would he come tonight? Would Donner and Blitzen find our house in the orange grove? Was Santa Claus really coming to town? If so, would he really show up in our fireplace where the stockings were hung by the chimney with care? I’m grateful for that happy home of childhood with wonderful memories. I’m grateful for the sense of Christmas expectancy that I’ve brought with me into adulthood.

Life has a way, as you move into middle age, of becoming routine. The fascinations which once excited me are now slightly frayed; the things which once thrilled are sometimes tepid.

But, once a year, time turns backward in its flight, and on Christmas Eve I’m a child again—just for the night. Is it wrong to wish—as a child? Where else does prayer begin—and faith start? Long before I knew God, I would kneel beside my window: “Star light, star bright / First star I’ve seen tonight / I wish I may, I wish I might / Have the wish I wish tonight.”

C’mon! I know it’s not a prayer. But it was the best I could do as a child. It wasn’t until many years later, after Daddy became a Christian, that we started reading Luke 2 rather than “The Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve. But was all that other wrong? Does not God sometimes use fantasy to prepare our hearts for reality? The people I pity at Christmas are those who have no expectations. Those who no longer wish. The spiritual fuddy-duddies who have lost the wonder of childhood. How easy it is to become sophisticated. Super spiritual. To condemn Christmas trees, and Santa Claus, and the wonder of childlike wishing—because we’ve grown old … and correct.

“Look Pa-pa, here’s Baby Jesus in the manger. I wish for Him most of all.” I held her close so she could not see what was happening in my eyes.

I know there’s a difference between wishing and praying, but for some of us, it’s the only way we can begin. I hope I never grow so old, so stodgy, so theologically stiff that I no longer go to bed on Christmas Eve without listening for the sound of hoofbeats on the roof.
