Stunning NASA Christmas Message Still Resonates 56 Years After Apollo 8

In December 1968, NASA launched the first manned mission to the moon. No one, not even the astronauts aboard, was certain that they’d be able to return safely.  Their journey, the most hazardous and dangerous ever embarked upon, took them to the boundaries of another world, and, even more remarkably, brought peace to their own.

It was shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve that something remarkable happened. After spotting the barren, far side of the moon for the first time, the astronauts onboard captured a photo that has since become known as “Earthrise.”  For all the turmoil, tragedy and political tumult the world had experienced during 1968, this iconic, indelible image captured the beauty and fragility of our home planet.

And then, with more than one billion people watching around the world on television, the astronauts delivered a message to the largest audience in human history. It was a sentiment for all mankind and one straight from the pages of the Bible. As the nation waited in prayerful consideration, astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders spoke the following words:

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Do We Actually Know Where Christ Was Born?

During the Christmas season, many Christians from around the world make a pilgrimage to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

These Christmas visitors flock to the Church of the Nativity, which is regarded by some as the traditional site of the birth of Jesus. But after 2,000 years, do we really know where Jesus was born?

The Church of the Nativity is one of the oldest churches in the world. And Prof. Qustandi Shomali of Bethlehem University argues, “This is the place where Jesus Christ was born.”

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

“The Church of the Nativity was built over this place in 326 when Emperor Constantine decided to declare Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire,” Shomali said. “Since then, pilgrims from all around the world started coming to Bethlehem to visit this place. The place where Christianity started.”

To get your copy of “Superbook, The First Christmas,” visit .

Inside the church, the original columns from the 4th Century still stand. Constantine’s mother, Queen Helena, built the church. But why would she build it here?

“We do know that the identification of the site where Jesus was born already traditionally goes back to the middle of the first century at least,” Shomali said.

In the first century, the Roman emperor Hadrian destroyed the town of Bethlehem. After he destroyed the town, Hadrian built a temple and planted a grove of trees over the site where Christian pilgrims had come to honor the place where Jesus was born.

“Around what was left of the house which was only a cave where the virgin gave birth to the Child,” said Stephen Pfann of the University of the Holy Land. “People remembered this. People within 15 years were already going back to that site to visit it.”

“In fact, this temple instead of destroying the place, preserved the place,” Shomali added.

Jerome wrote in 396 A.D., “Even amongst those who are strangers to the faith it is known that inside that grotto he who is adored and glorified by the Christians was born.”

Through the centuries, the church itself went through a number of changes, but it is still one of the few churches in the Holy Land that was never completely destroyed.

The main entrance into the Church of the Nativity is called the Door of Humility because you have to bend to get inside the church. It was originally built by the crusaders and then altered by the Ottomans in order to keep mounted horsemen out of the church.

Fourteen hundred years after Queen Helena built the church, Christian pilgrims still come from around the world. Many record their personal pilgrimage both inside and outside the church. The central place lays inside the grotto. Many believe it’s the very cave where Jesus was born. A star marks the exact location.

Morning Rundown: TD Jakes Embattled in More Legal Turmoil

Here’s a quick rundown of the top stories on :

TD Jakes Embattled in More Legal Turmoil

Bishop T.D. Jakes has found himself embattled in another legal suit amid the discussions about the Sean “Diddy” Combs list, a terrifying health scare and a separate defamation suit.

Jakes had his attorney, Dustin Pusch, move to file a subpoena against Google, according to Yahoo Entertainment. The subpoena is meant to go after YouTube due to what Jakes says are AI-created lies against him on different YouTube channels.

The channels reportedly come out of Kenya, South Africa, Pakistan and the Philippines. According to Yahoo, these accounts supposedly made false voiceovers and thumbnails that produced indecent content connecting Jakes to Diddy.

Kim Kardsashian Faces Backlash Over ‘Demonic’ Christmas Video

Kim Kardashian’s latest Christmas-themed video has ignited a storm of outrage, and for good reason. The video, which purportedly celebrates the holiday season, is anything but festive. Instead, it unfolds like a surreal fever dream, replete with bizarre imagery that is as irreverent as it is unsettling.

In the video, Kardashian appears to move in a possibly drug-induced haze, crawling from room to room in a house filled with odd characters—some standing idly by, others engaged in strange behaviors. But what has truly set people off is the video’s grotesque portrayal of Jesus and His mother, Mary.

Mary is depicted holding the reins of a donkey, while Jesus, crowned with thorns, appears in scenes laden with blasphemous undertones. The video’s inclusion of these figures in such a twisted context, capped off by grossly inappropriate sexual implications involving Santa Claus and a camcorder (played by Macaulay Culkin), is a direct affront to the Christian faith and acceptance of sexual immorality.

Find a Strength That Will Never Fail You

After I became a Christian, I went for many years without victory in my daily life. I was miserable because I still had wounds in my soul from being abused by my father as a child—a past that made me insecure, angry, suspicious of others and hard to get along with.

Even though I loved God and went to church weekly, I had no idea that there was power available to me to overcome the hurts from the past and the struggles of my everyday life. And everything that came along that was hard to handle defeated me.

But I was so grateful when I discovered in God’s Word that not only is He powerful, but He wants to fill us with His power. He promises in His Word that we can have abundant life in Christ because He has overcome the world (John 10:10, 16:33).

The truth is, as believers in Christ, we don’t have to live weak, wimpy, pitiful, pathetic, barely-getting-by lives. We can have God’s power working within us to enable us to do everything we need to do in life.

Some people have the mistaken idea that when they give their lives to Jesus, they will no longer have any problems. It would be nice if this were true, but in this world, we will have trials and tribulations. The good news is we can cheer up regardless because Jesus has overcome the world.

Jesus says in John 16:33b (AMP), “In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.”

From Exposure to Restoration: Pastor Brian Gibson’s Prophetic Word for 2025

Pastor Brian Gibson’s interview with Charisma Media delivers a stirring message about the state of the church in 2024 and offered a hope-filled vision for 2025.

Gibson didn’t shy away from addressing what he described as a season of reckoning, one where “lampstands were removed, and leaders were exposed.” His words cut to the core of ongoing discussions about accountability and authenticity within Christian leadership.

“2024 was a year when God’s hand revealed the truth in His church,” Gibson said. “We saw leaders who had built their ministries on sand instead of the solid rock of Christ crumble under the weight of their own iniquities. This wasn’t about condemnation—it was about a call to repentance.”

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

He highlighted that the removal of “lampstands”—a biblical reference to the light and presence of God among His people—was not just about individuals but entire congregations. “When God removes a lampstand, it’s because we’ve stopped being a beacon of His truth and started being a reflection of our culture. It’s painful, but it’s necessary,” Gibson explained.

The pastor also touched on the impact of these exposures, calling it a “refining fire” for the global church. “Some of us didn’t want to see it, but it’s better for the body of Christ to be pure and holy. God is separating the wheat from the chaff,” he said.

Looking forward to 2025, Gibson’s tone shifted to one of hope and restoration. He prophesied that it would be a year of rebuilding and reestablishing foundations. “This is a season where we’re going to see leaders rise who are humble, who walk in integrity and who carry the heart of a shepherd. God is raising up new lampstands,” he said. “The Spirit is moving on leaders who’ve been hidden in the wilderness, preparing them to step into the light.”

Gibson also emphasized unity as a key topic for 2025. “We’ve been divided by denominations, politics and preferences. But the time is coming when we will gather under the banner of Christ, not our individual agendas. The church will look more like the bride she was meant to be,” he said.

There is hope and optimism for the years ahead according to Gibson. “We’re not done yet. God’s not done yet. The church will shine brighter than ever before because He’s faithful to finish the good work He started in us.”

As believers step into a new year, Pastor Gibson’s words serve as both a challenge and an encouragement to embrace accountability and unity, trusting that God’s plans for His church remain steadfast and redemptive.

2024’s Word of the Year Has a Spiritual Side

The Cambridge Dictionary awarded the word “manifest” to be the word of the year for 2024. They define manifest as “To show something clearly, through signs or actions,” “to appear or become clear,” “to use methods such as help you imagine achieving something you want, in the belief that doing so will make it more likely to happen,” or “easily noticed or obvious.”

Manifesting, according to modern society, is to place your own will and desires above anyone else’s. In essence, it forces a person to have close contact with the demonic in order to gain by their own will and way what they desire most.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

In an interview with Charisma Media, Alan DiDio talked about how we may see more demonic manifestation in the coming year. However, he provides a wonderful caveat: What if the church grasped that word to see the manifestation of the Holy Spirit come to life?

Manifestation does not have to be rooted in demonic greed and selfishness. Manifestation is a principle that, like others, Satan took and twisted for his own evil purposes. Yet, true biblical manifestation does exist.

First Corinthians 12:7 reads: “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone for the common good.”

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up to date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

God desires to manifest the presence of His Holy Spirit in our lives now and forever. As Bishop DiDio told Charisma, he believes this is the year that we can see the manifestation of all of God’s promises that He has made to us come to pass. There’s a reason that we pray for God to work “on earth as it is in heaven.” This is because His promises are true and never failing.

Second Corinthians 1:20 reads: “For all the promises of God in Him are ‘Yes’ and in Him ‘Amen’ to the glory of God through us.”

Everything that God intended for us, every bit of His heavenly glory that He desires to bring to earth, is a ‘yes’ promise in Him.

While manifesting is a term that the world knows by the evil forces that have twisted it, it does not have to be this way. When we trust the Lord with His plans, purposes and ultimate will for our lives, standing on His truth, then we are walking by faith and not by sight nor by our own strength.

The Extremely Improbable, Exceedingly Unlikely, Exceptionally Amazing Birth of Jesus

When we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are celebrating one of the most improbable miracles in all of human history.

You see, the truth is that not just anyone could have showed up and claimed to be the Messiah. According to the Scriptures, the Messiah had to come from a very specific bloodline, the Messiah had to be born at a very specific place, and the Messiah had to be born at a very specific time. It was exceedingly unlikely that anyone would ever be able to fulfill all of those prophecies, but Jesus did. The prophecies about the first coming of Christ that we find in the Bible are powerful evidence for the reality of the Christian faith, and yet these prophecies are rarely taught in our churches today.

Even though the birth of Christ is most commonly celebrated on Dec. 25, in the western world, scholars openly acknowledge that Jesus was not actually born on Dec. 25. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, people did not start celebrating the birth of Christ on Dec. 25, until hundreds of years after the time of Jesus.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

In the 3rd century, the Roman Empire, which at the time had not adopted Christianity, celebrated the rebirth of the Unconquered Sun (Sol Invictus) on Dec. 25. This holiday not only marked the return of longer days after the winter solstice but also followed the popular Roman festival called the Saturnalia (during which people feasted and exchanged gifts). It was also the birthday of the Indo-European deity Mithra, a god of light and loyalty whose cult was at the time growing popular among Roman soldiers.

The church in Rome began formally celebrating Christmas on Dec. 25, in A.D. 336, during the reign of the emperor Constantine. As Constantine had made Christianity the effective religion of the empire, some have speculated that choosing this date had the political motive of weakening the established pagan celebrations. The date was not widely accepted in the Eastern Empire, where Jan. 6, had been favored, for another half-century, and Christmas did not become a major Christian festival until the 9th century.

The Bible does not give us a specific date for the birth of Christ, but based on the chronology that we are given in the gospel of Luke it probably happened during the fall months.

And as I noted earlier, the Messiah could not have been just any random person.

In my new book entitled “Why”, I explain that the Scriptures mandate that the Messiah must come from an extremely unique bloodline.

-He had to be a descendant of Abraham.  (Genesis 12:3)

-He had to be a descendant of Isaac.  (Genesis 21:12)

-He had to be a descendant of Jacob.  (Numbers 24:17)

-He had to be a descendant of Judah.  (Genesis 49:10)

-He had to be a descendant of Jesse.  (Isaiah 11:1)

-He had to be a descendant of David.  (Isaiah 9:6 and Jeremiah 23:5)

-He had to be a descendant of Solomon.  (2 Samuel 7:13)

In addition to coming from a very specific bloodline, the Scriptures also require that the Messiah must be born in the town of Bethlehem.

This is what Micah 5:2 tells us.

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

The Scriptures also require that the Messiah must be born of a virgin.

What are the odds of that happening?

I think that Henry Morris was being quite generous when he assigned a probability of one in 40 billion.

Consider also the matter of the virgin birth, which was prophesied over 500 years before its fulfillment. “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel” (Isa. 7:14). The imminent fulfillment of this amazing prophecy was finally announced to Mary’s espoused husband, Joseph, also by Gabriel: “Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost” (Matt. 1:20).

There has been no other virgin birth recorded in all human history, in comparison to perhaps 40 billion normal births since Adam. However, an evolutionary skeptic might argue that such a thing is theoretically at least possible, especially in view of such modern genetic developments as artificial insemination, cloning, etc., as well as examples of parthenogenesis among animals. So perhaps we could assign a probability of one in 40 billion to a human virgin birth (or better, virgin conception—the actual birth being fully normal in Jesus’ case).

On top of everything else, the Scriptures require that the Messiah must be born at a very specific time in human history.

Daniel chapter 9 contains some of the most complex prophecies in the entire Bible. As I explain in my book, that chapter gives us a very specific timeline, and it also gives us a way to check to see if we have interpreted that timeline correctly. Daniel 9:26 says that the Messiah must die before the city of Jerusalem and the Temple are destroyed, and of course the city of Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in A.D. 70.

What this means is that the Messiah had to show up before A.D. 70, and that is precisely what happened.

At just the right time, and in just the right place, the Messiah came into the world. I recently came across an editorial that discussed just how unlikely this really was.

Some people love math. I barely tolerated it; just enough to get by. Then there are people that have a passion for statistics, and others love to postulate on statistical probabilities, adinfinitum.

OK, let’s try this scenario on for size. What are the chances that a virgin teenage girl, say 13 or 14, named Mary, who lived in the village of Nazareth along with her fiancé Joseph, would immaculately conceive by the Holy Spirit and later give birth to a little boy, after traveling fully pregnant, on a donkey about 90 miles—a four to five day journey on foot—to the birthplace of Joseph’s ancestor, King David? This little baby would grow up to eventually save humanity from their sins. Come on, stat-people and mathematicians, I’ll wait for your answer.

Overall, there are over 300 prophecies in the Bible regarding the coming of the Messiah that were fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

After He rose from the dead, Jesus explained the importance of fulfilling all of those prophecies to His disciples. The following is what Luke 24:44 tells us.

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Yes, anyone could theoretically show up and claim to be the Messiah.

But there is only one man that fulfilled all of the criteria set forth in the Scriptures.

Jesus is the Messiah, and that is definitely something worth celebrating.
