Hollywood Actor Criticizes Bible, Calls it ‘One of the Worst Books’

By: Billy Hallowell/Faithwire

A popular actor recently unleashed on the Bible, God and religion, calling faith a figment of people’s imaginations and critiquing the impact of religion on society.

“Succession” star Brian Cox called the Bible “one of the worst books ever” and said those who believe the Adam and Eve narrative are “stupid” in a recent episode of “The Starting Line” podcast.

Cox, 77, even seemed to allege so-called patriarchal issues have been sparked, in part, by the Bible’s Genesis narrative.

“It’s Adam and Eve …. I mean, the propaganda goes [right] the way back,” he said. “The Bible is one of the worst books ever, for me, from my point of view, because it starts with the idea that … out of Adam’s rib, this woman was created, and they’ll believe it, because they’re stupid enough.”

The actor then contended the story is “mythology,” offering his assessment of why he believes God and religion have been “created.”

“We’ve created that idea of God, and we’ve created it as a control issue,” Cox continued. “And it’s also a patriarchal issue … and it’s essentially patriarchal—we haven’t given enough scope to the matriarchy.”

The actor flatly pushed back against the idea there’s a loving God caring for humankind.

“It’s all about this notion of God—the idea that there’s a God that takes care of us all,” Cox continued. “There’s no such thing, doesn’t happen; that’s not what it’s about. It’s about us.”

In the end, Cox concluded religion has led to cultural horror.

Morning Rundown: COVER STORY: It’s Time for an Honest Apology to Women

Here’s a quick rundown of the top stories on :

It’s Time for an Honest Apology to Women

When I first heard about the sexual scandal involving Mike Bickle and the International House of Prayer in Kansas City back in December, my initial reaction was defensive. I’ll admit I didn’t want to believe the charges made by “Jane Doe,” one of the alleged victims. My thoughts went in this direction: Maybe this was a false accusation? The church doesn’t need another embarrassing scandal. The devil is a liar!

But I cringed on Dec. 12, 2023, when Bickle released his own confession. His victim had suffered for years, but she finally mustered the courage to speak out. Then we learned there were more victims, revealing a sick game of manipulation and control. My heart sank when details surfaced about another woman who had been involved with Bickle in his earlier years as a youth pastor.

It became obvious that there had been a disturbing pattern of sexual abuse at IHOP, and with it, a pattern of hiding that abuse.

Before You Ask God for a Word, Be Willing to Say Yes

God loves to speak to us. Psalm 85:8 (NASB) says: “I will hear what God the Lord will say; for He will speak peace to His people, to His godly ones.” At the right time, the Lord offers a fresh word for us that can bring strength, guidance, confirmation or correction. There have been countless times when I was famished for a word from God, and when He spoke it came like a drink of cold water in the desert.

But there’s a right way and a wrong way to seek God for His direction. I’ve seen Christians line up in front of prophets, hoping for a quick solution to their problems. I’ve also seen those same Christians stand in line a second time in front of the same prophets because they didn’t like the word they received the first time.

Prophecy is a legitimate spiritual gift, and we are instructed to desire it earnestly in 1 Corinthians 14:1. But we should never abuse or misuse this precious gift. Here are some guidelines that will help you:

We Dare Not Squander This Moment

We are living today in one of the most critical moments in American history.

How we respond today will go a long way in determining the future of our nation—or whether our nation even continues to exist as the United States of America. That’s why the title of my October 2021 book was Revival or We Die: A Great Awakening Is Our Only Hope. There was no hyperbole in the title and no exaggeration in the subtitle. I believed then and believe now that, without a sweeping revival in the church that leads to a national awakening, America as we know it is doomed. We will either continue to fall into moral and spiritual confusion, ultimately crashing and burning, or we will break up entirely as a nation, pulling apart at the seams. Either way, without revival, we are in very critical condition.

But here’s the catch. Revival alone will not get the job done. Revival alone will not turn the tide. It must be a revival in the church that leads to a reformation in the society—an outpouring that leads to awakening. Otherwise, to repeat, we are doomed. A powerful revival movement, without a national awakening, would just delay the inevitable or, worse still, simply make us more accountable. It really is revival and awakening or we die. Or do we really think that the right political candidate or the latest social program will solve our problems and cure our ills? Not a chance.

School Staff Removed Following Drag Queen’s Provocative Prom Performance

A high school principal and several staff members are out of a job following a drag queen’s provocative prom performance.

As American Faith reported, Atrisco Heritage Academy High School in New Mexico had a drag queen come to perform at the senior class prom. The drag queen, Mythica Sahreen, wore a scanty outfit and heels, and danced with a couple of students, twerking on them.

“Could have kept it more on the side of like it being more PG with the fact that they kind of did twerk on a couple students,” one student said. “It wasn’t exactly the best, but it was something that did happen. And they did let students twerk on them.”

Debunking Popular Lies About the Pre-Tribulation Rapture

This article by Jonathan Brentner was originally published by Harbinger’s Daily (), and is republished here with their permission.

One of the most unpopular beliefs among Christians today is that of the pre-Tribulation rapture. Many not only scoff at our expectation of meeting Jesus in the air, but also ridicule those of us who believe it could happen at any moment.

The resulting silence in most pulpits today regarding our “blessed hope” has opened the door for a great many misconceptions about it to flourish. For many, social media and Internet searches have replaced sound biblical teaching regarding our “blessed hope.”

Below are five popular lies about the Rapture.

Alan DiDio and Daniel Kolenda: Is Cessationism Heresy?

Is cessationism heresy? This is the question Bishop Alan DiDio and Daniel Kolenda have set out to answer in a recent podcast episode of Encounter Today.

Christians have debated back and forth for years about whether or not the gifts of the Holy Spirit have ceased to exist in our modern world. For charismatics and Pentecostals, the same gifts of tongues, prophecy, teaching and more are just as relevant today as they were when the Holy Spirit came upon the followers of Jesus after His ascension to heaven.

However, there are plenty of Christians who disagree with this belief, clinging to the idea that these gifts left after the disciples passed away. Reviewing the “Cessationist” movie trailer, DiDio and Kolenda look at the philosophy and theology behind the cessationist movement.

‘The Chosen’ Secures Spot on New Streaming Platform

By: Tré Goins-Phillips/Faithwire

Jesus is heading to Disney.

Seasons one through three of “The Chosen,” the popular Bible series chronicling the life of Jesus, will soon be streaming on Disney+, according to a post from Disney news blog, Inside the Magic, which showrunner Dallas Jenkins shared to his social media accounts.

Disney+ is the latest platform to stream the series. Fans of the Bible show can find episodes on other streaming sites, like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, the Angel app, BYUtv and The Chosen app.

News of the expanded audience comes after Jenkins announced season four of “The Chosen” will soon become available for streaming on the heels of an extended theatrical release, CBN News reported.

In March, Jenkins released a video explaining the show’s previous model of making episodes immediately available for free “wasn’t proving to be sustainable,” given cost-of-production increases as the series’ quality improves. Additionally, much of the revenue generated by theatrical releases is going toward the remaining three seasons of the seven-season show.

“We are actively working on it every day,” Jenkins said in mid-April of bringing season four to viewers who couldn’t afford or chose not to see it in theaters. “I promise you, no one is more frustrated by this than I am. And no one wants to get this to you more quickly than I do. We’re working on it. I promise you.”

Inside the Magic writer Zach Gass wrote that bringing “The Chosen” to Disney+ could be a “tremendous win for Disney’s image” as the platform has been criticized for its less-than-family-friendly content.

“The decision to include ‘The Chosen’ amongst these titles might help win some more conservative subscribers back toward the Mouse,” he wrote, referring to The Walt Disney Company.

Here’s a quick rundown of the top stories on :

Cindy Jacobs’ Powerful Word at Prophetic Briefing: ‘If the Church Repents, I Will Relent’

During a prophetic briefing with the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders, Cindy Jacobs shared a Word that the Lord had given her about Europe, the Middle East and North America.

“Do not think that the people who are protesting and calling for a Palestinian state are just protesting on behalf of Palestine,” Jacobs prophesies. “Whether they understand or not, there is an insurrection forming that is like unto the communist takeover in Russia for the downfall of the tsars. Only this time they are aiming for the nations of Canada, the U.S. and the nations of the world.”

Jacobs says that what is happening with the protests of students across the nation goes much deeper than they understand. There are forces behind the alliance with Iranian caliphate and Hezbollah that have a goal of destruction. The nations in the Middle East will have no choice but to choose a side because of the caliphate’s takeover of the land. Nations like Russia and China will also join forces with the Islamic states. However, she says the forces of Islam will not allow them to stick with these other nations.

Prophetic Warning: ‘America, You Have 2 Years’

In a recent episode of the “Strang Report” podcast, prophetic voice Chuck Pierce shared profound insights about the current geopolitical landscape surrounding Israel, the current spiritual course the United States is on, and the prophetic significance surrounding the events taking place in the world today.

Pierce’s message was clear: America has two years to realign with God’s covenant plan.

The discussion began with the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, particularly the attacks on Israel by Hamas and Iran. Pierce emphasized the gravity of these events, stating, “this attack by Hamas on Oct. 7, has now dragged on six months… Israel, in my opinion, has to defend itself, and yet the world seems to be turning against Israel.” He points to the importance of Israel in God’s plan, referring to Israel as “the central covenant choice for Him to display His will in the earth realm amongst the nations.”

Mandisa Is With Jesus Now, Singing the Highest Praise

If you are in crisis, please call 988 or visit . You are not alone.

On the surface, contemporary Christian singer Mandisa was the epitome of success. She became a musical star after her appearance on “American Idol” in 2006, and she won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Album in 2014.

But those who read her interviews or followed her on social media knew she struggled with depression, low self-esteem and weight issues. In 2017 she told ABC News that she had contemplated suicide. In her 2022 memoir, “Out of the Dark,” the singer admitted that she had been raped, and that her suicidal thoughts were partly due to the death of a close friend who had breast cancer.

Mandisa—whose full name was Mandisa Lynn Hundley—was found dead in her home in Nashville, Tennessee, last Thursday, April 18. She was only 47. Police are still investigating, and a cause of death has not been announced. But in a video she posted a few days before her death, Mandisa candidly talked about her emotional battles, and she admitted she was “in a season of lament” because another close friend had died.
