Prophetic Dream Forecasts Possible Chaotic Events Preceding the 2024 Presidential Election

Just recently, upon awakening, I heard a voice that I believe was divinely inspired say: “1851 Insurrection.”

Immediately, I was struck with the uniqueness and strangeness of that statement—primarily because I was completely unaware of its historical context. Having no knowledge of such an event in the past, I was also oblivious to any possible future application—until I started digging online to find out the meaning of what God had spoken.

When I typed in a Google-search, much to my amazement, I discovered that phrase—”1851 Insurrection”—described an actual happening that took place in France that apparently was used as a symbol of what could possibly happen in the next few years in the United States.

Here is the backstory:

Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte (later to be called Napoleon III) was president of France. He strategically planned and executed a staged coup—while he was still in office. Acting out the subduing of the planned “anarchistic” uprising enabled him to stay in power and implement his reform programs, which included universal male suffrage—a broadening of the voter base.

That law made it legal for every man to vote regardless of income, property, religion, race or any other categorization. Universal male suffrage had previously been abolished by the assembly, because Bonaparte won over 70% of the vote when it was passed. The establishment was against that and wanted to push him out.

Bonaparte knew that rescinding that law would most likely result in an election loss for him and help his political enemies achieve their goal. So, he planned and staged the 1851 Insurrection against himself to justify the seizing of more presidential control. It worked.

Wikipedia adds, “The continuation of his authority and the power to produce a new constitution were approved days later by a constitutional referendum, resulting in the Constitution of 1852, which greatly increased the powers and the term length of the president. A year after the coup, Bonaparte proclaimed himself “Emperor of the French” under the regnal name Napoleon III.”

Relating this historical red-flag operation to our present-day situation in the United States of America points to two possible fulfillments:

Already Fulfilled

This prophetic word could relate to something which has already happened, which some media voices have mislabeled an “insurrection”: Jan. 6, 2020. Many respected news analysts feel that fiasco was at least partially planned and orchestrated by certain officials within the government just as it was in Napoleon III’s day.

Many voices have questioned the official narrative, suggesting that instead of an insurrection, it could have instead been an intentional infiltration of an otherwise peaceful assembly by radical leftists, who instigated more destructive actions and then blamed it on the conservatives. This allowed the Left to sway public opinion and set the stage for them to seize power through election manipulations and illegal activities, which are still being exposed by those investigating that whole debacle. Though this could be the fulfillment of the vision, it doesn’t really dovetail with the historical symbol that the Spirit of God referenced.

Yet to Be Fulfilled

Most likely, this prophetic word is yet to be fulfilled, something that will take place before the upcoming presidential election. The corrupt political Left and the radical globalists who undergird them surely fear that in a completely fair election they would lose, so they may resort to some kind of red-flag, manufactured crisis that they can then blame on the conservatives (who have been labeled the “new domestic terrorists” and scornfully described as “Trump supporters”). This would be done to accomplish two things: first, keeping Biden or some other liberal, Democratic figurehead in office; and second, to further enhance and enforce dystopian domination of our nation and world.

We will see how all of this plays out. Let me emphasize, the spoken phrase was “1851 Insurrection.” God would not have communicated that unless dire circumstances were about to unfold before our eyes that could potentially shift us into an even more intense 1984-level of governmental control (referencing George Orwell’s novel, 1984.

Furthermore, just as Napoleon III depended on grassroots support among the poor, common people in his bid for power, so the present open-border policy and the influx of illegals into this country are both intended to strengthen the hold of politicians committed to a leftist socialist agenda as well as being useful in manipulating upcoming elections.

Finally, you must remember that God gives a prophetic word, not because the outcome is irreversible and unchangeable, but quite the opposite—that through prayer and intercession, forecasted situations can be reversed. So, pray, sons and daughters of the kingdom. God can still create chaos in the enemy camp while God’s people shout the victory.

What Does It Mean to Be ‘A Chosen Generation?’

In his first epistle, Peter lamented how many Jews rejected the “Chief Cornerstone,” and how the Messiah became a “stone of stumbling” and a “rock of offense” to them. Then he declared to those who are saved:

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9, NKJV).

What does it mean to be “a chosen generation?”

The word “generation” has four key definitions:

  • An entire group of individuals born and living during the same era
  • A group of individuals who share similar ideas or goals
  • Offspring of the same parent
  • The act or process of generating.

All members of the true church from the day of Pentecost onward can claim being a part of the same “generation” because they are all part of the same era (the age of grace), they share similar ideas (Jesus is the Savior of the world), they are all descendants of the same progenitor (the everlasting Father) and they have all been spiritually reborn by “the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5, NKJV). We may not be naturally rubbing shoulders with the early disciples, but we are supernaturally.

Ancient Prophecies

Psalm 22 confirms this wondrous truth. David first foretold the torturous treatment the Messiah would receive, even describing His hands and feet being pierced, but then he declared,

A seed shall serve Him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation” (Ps. 22:30, KJV).

That prophecy stretches across the past two millennia, embracing all who have been washed in the blood of Jesus and filled with His Spirit.

Isaiah also gave detailed descriptions of the crucifixion. He predicted the Messiah would be “despised and rejected of men … But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed” (Is. 53:3, 5). Then he posed the question:

Who shall declare His generation?” (Is. 53:8)

In other words, who will unveil the mystery of the New Covenant family of God—the chosen generation spanning hundreds of years—that will result from this sacrifice? You who understand are vitally important to God’s cause, for He is depending on you to invite everyone to partake of this supreme blessing.

Psalm 24 pulls back the prophetic veil even further, first prophetically describing the ascension of the Lord Jesus, then the covenant people who would result, saying:

This is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face, O God of Jacob. Selah” (Ps. 24:6, NKJV).

So, according to these key passages, through the death of the Son of God, there will emerge a chosen, spiritual generation who will both “serve” and “seek” the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in a pronounced way.

Certainly, many of God’s people in the Old Testament “served” God to the best of their ability and “sought” Him fervently in prayer, but the regenerated sons and daughters of God in the New Testament are even more capable of doing so, having been begotten of the Word and born of the Spirit. Through this dual spiritual empowerment, we are supernaturally enabled to represent Him in this world. And to every one of us, Jesus presents the encouraging revelation:

“You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain” (John 15:16, NKJV).

Yes, we are “a chosen generation!” {eoa}

Your Amazing Inheritance in Christ

Read this powerful description of who we are and what we have as sons and daughters of God:

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God, and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified with Him” (Rom. 8:16-17, MEV, author’s emphasis).

An heir is one who is entitled by law to receive the estate of another; the heir is the rightful recipient of certain properties, possessions, endowments, positions of influence or qualities of character passed on from a parent or predecessor.

In Hebrews 9:16-17, Jesus is described as a “testator” (one who draws up a will or testament to be enforced at his or her death). The New Testament (made up of 27 books of the Bible) is the will that reveals what the crucified and resurrected Lord left to His heirs.

There are a number of scriptures in this New Testament that refer to children of God as “heirs.” Each one reveals a unique aspect of our inheritance, such as the following:

— Heirs of salvation—Hebrews 1:14.

— Heirs of promise—Hebrews 6:17.

— Heirs together of the grace of life—1 Peter 3:7.

— Heirs of the righteousness which is according to faith—Hebrews 11:7.

— Heirs according to the hope of eternal life—Titus 3:7.

— Heirs of the kingdom—James 2:5.

— Heirs of the world—Romans 4:13.

Just reading this list should leave us in a state of breathless awe.

Glimpsing the Profoundness

If we are “heirs of God,” what exactly have we inherited? The answer is profound:

— We have inherited all that God is.

— We have inherited all that God has.

That means we have inherited His Word, His glory, His love, His power, His character and much more. (We never “become God” as the Eastern religions and New Age teach, but He pours His fullness into us.)

In His great intercessory prayer over the church, Jesus verified this transfer:

“For I have given them the words which You gave Me. … I have given them the glory which You gave Me, that they may be one even as We are one. … I have declared Your name to them, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them” (John 17:8, 22, 26).

According to this powerful passage, Jesus has even passed to us the inheritance of the oneness with the Father He enjoys. (Certainly, this must be interpreted in a qualified sense, but it is still absolutely astounding.) His peace and His joy also belong to us (see John 14:27; 15:11), as do His wisdom (1 Cor. 1:30), His knowledge (Isa. 53:11) and His power (Luke 10:19). And the list goes on.

We are also referred to as “joint-heirs with Christ” (Rom. 8:17b), which means equal heirs. So one good way of determining our inheritance is to look at the inheritance of the firstborn Son of God, for His spiritual condition and His destiny reveal the grand legacy that has been passed down to every child of God.

Colossians 1:19 says concerning Jesus, “It pleased the Father that in Him all fullness should dwell.” “For in Him lives all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,” Colossians 2:9 says. Then John 1:16a (NKJV) says, “Of His fullness we have all received.”

Hebrews 1:2 declares that God has “spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the world” (Heb. 1:2, MEV). Then Revelation 21:7 gives the amazing promise, “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”

The full depth of how this divine benevolence will manifest in us is a mystery only God fully comprehends. If we have made Jesus the Lord of our lives, then we are under His headship and a part of His body. This places us “in Christ” where all that He is passes down to us as a spiritual impartation.

Ephesians 1:11a declares that “in Him also we have received an inheritance.” So it is vital to search out every scripture in the New Testament containing the words “in Him,” “in whom” (in reference to Jesus) or “in Christ” because those phrases indicate an important position of birthright heritage. For instance, we have inherited:

— His righteousness: “God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:21).

— His resurrection life: “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death” (Rom. 8:2).

— Every spiritual blessing: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Eph. 1:3).

— Grace: “So you, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim. 2:1).

—A new-creation status: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor. 5:17, NKJV).

— Access to the Father’s presence: “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him” (Eph. 3:12).

— Completion: “You are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power” (Col. 2:10).

— Perfection: “Whom we preach, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present them perfect in Christ Jesus” (Col. 1:28, MEV).

There are many other verses revealing this “in Christ” truth. When you behold the fullness of the inheritance, it leaves you speechless—especially when you realize His greatest impartation to all of us is eternal life. {eoa}

God’s Challenge: Be a ‘Good Soldier of Jesus Christ’

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Tim. 2:3, NKJV, emphasis added).

Pause for a moment and prayerfully ponder whether or not you are fulfilling this divine mandate. A good soldier is known by seven primary traits: endurance, obedience, discipline, tenacity, fearlessness, bravery and willingness to sacrifice all.

Countless thousands have developed such admirable qualities for causes that are earthly and temporal. But our cause is heavenly, eternal and of the utmost importance. How much more should we be spiritually militant individuals of soldierlike courage and commitment, unflinching in the face of opposition!

One of our biggest challenges is the dual nature of the war in which we are engaged, for it rages on two primary battlefronts: one external, the other internal.

The external war is being waged against a very real yet unseen enemy — “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12, ESV). Satan and his demonic underlings have struggled for many centuries to achieve their goal of global dominance and have succeeded in deceiving “the whole world” (Rev. 12:9, NKJV).

Threatened by any consecrated life or proclaimer of truth, they constantly “make war” against those “who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev. 12:17, NKJV). These evil powers greatly influence the world around us, which in turn pits itself against all who embrace biblical principles, so the church is often at odds with the culture.

Yet our battle is not against “flesh and blood” but against “the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience” (Eph. 2:2, NKJV).

The internal war is with our own fallen nature. James the brother of Jesus shined a spotlight on this enemy when he asked, “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?” (Jas. 4:1, NKJV). Paul also confessed, “I delight in the law of God according to the inner man, but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members” (Rom. 7:22-23, MEV).

Prior to one’s salvation, these two battle zones are overwhelming. Even though some unsaved people succeed in living disciplined and stable lives, ultimately these two foes win in the end.

Both the external war and the internal war converge on one primary, central battlefield in God’s people — our minds. Yet the Captain of our salvation has given us an awesome promise:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor. 10:4-5, MEV).

What is a “stronghold”? Spiritually speaking, strongholds can exist in nations, cultures, schools, churches, businesses, families or individuals. Strongholds are established patterns of dark, negative, fearful, deceived or erroneous mindsets that are debilitating and destructive to those who are under their influence. Strongholds can be of human origin or demonic origin. Regardless of the source, believers have been given sufficient weaponry to win. Some of the “weapons of warfare” in our arsenal include the following:

The Word of God — There is great power in the declaration of God’s Word in facing life’s battles. The Word of God reigns supreme over every situation and circumstance. Saying “it is written” and quoting the Word of God was Jesus’ way of combating Satan. We need to learn that lesson well.

The blood of Jesus — Nothing in the enemy’s arsenal can match the blood of Jesus in authority and power. The cross is where Jesus triumphed over satanic “principalities and powers,” so our victory is an established fact (Col. 2:15, NKJV). Confessing the shed blood of Jesus is an instantaneous thrust of irresistible authority.

The name of Jesus — One of the most powerful passages dealing with this weapon of our warfare is Luke 10:17-20. The 70 disciples had just returned to Jesus testifying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us through Your name.” To them He responded, “I saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven” (vv. 17-18, MEV). If the name of the Lord was that powerful when the disciples had not yet been born again, how much more powerful it is in toppling the enemy’s strongholds once believers are regenerated by God’s power!

In considering just these three weapons, no wonder John declared in advance concerning the attack of Satan on the church in the last days, “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death” (Rev. 12:11, MEV).

So rise up, good soldier of Jesus Christ, and “fight the good fight of faith” (1 Tim. 6:12, NKJV). The world around us is falling apart because of its instability and insurrection against God. Evil spirits, using both human organizations and corrupt individuals, are grappling for the control of the nations. There is an evil globalist agenda on the horizon. But God also has a global mandate and vision that must be carried out by His soldiers — the gospel of the kingdom must be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations.

We cannot allow ourselves to sink into depression or be “at ease in Zion” (Amos 6:1, NKJV). We must instead implement an inspired battle plan, rising up daily to take back territory in the name of the Lord. We must seize our God-given weaponry, determined to overcome in the arena of our influence while tenaciously trusting in the promises of God, the faithfulness of God and the calling we have received from God.

In the months and years to come, as this global conflict intensifies, we must remember above all things that “the battle belongs to the LORD” (1 Sam. 17:47, MEV). {eoa}

Why All God’s New Covenant Offspring Are ‘Children of Abraham’

Many Christians do not realize their spiritual connection to God’s chosen nation in the Old Testament (Israel) nor the patriarch of that nation. Yet the Bible plainly declares, “They which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham” (Gal. 3:7, KJV).

How can we fill this role, especially if we happen to be Gentiles? To answer that, let’s go back in time.

Many centuries ago, when the Creator revealed Himself to a Middle Eastern man named Abram (later to be known as Abraham), He initiated their relationship with a weighty demand and eight remarkable promises:

“Go from your country, your family, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless them who bless you and curse him who curses you, and in you all families of the earth will be blessed” (Gen. 12:1-3, MEV).

Most people identify themselves three ways: by their national identity, their cultural identity and their family identity. God commanded Abram to leave these things behind. In essence, He was saying, “If you’ll depart from familiar dependencies, I’ll give you a completely new identity — and awaken purpose and destiny in you and your offspring.” God still does that kind of thing.

How did this highly favored man respond to God? The Scripture explains, “By faith Abraham obeyed … and he went out, not knowing where he was going” (Heb. 11:8, NKJV). The divine design for his life was not revealed all at once. Abraham had to walk it out one step at a time, but God had a plan that gradually unfolded. God still works that way for all His people. You don’t always get the full picture in advance. That’s when faith carries you through — day by day.

When you respond to the true God like Abraham did, you become one of his spiritual children. Abraham believed the word that God spoke to him, and he obeyed. In like manner, when you believe and obey, you obtain a new identity and an inheritance, for “those who are of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham” (Gal. 3:9, MEV).

This legacy covers a lot of territory, both spiritual and natural. For instance, the Lord “blessed Abraham in all things” (Gen. 24:1, MEV). He was “very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold,” but more importantly, he was also very rich in the things of God (Gen. 13:2, NKJV). He was even called “the friend of God” (Jas. 2:23, MEV).

At one point, God told Abraham to look up at the night sky, and the Most High made an awe-inspiring prediction:

“Look up toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them. … So will your descendants be” (Gen. 15:5, MEV).

Such a glimpse into the future was “exceedingly abundantly beyond” anything Abraham and Sarah could have imagined (Eph. 3:20, MEV), for they had not yet been able to produce even one child. But Abraham believed God, and then something astonishing happened — God “credited it to him as righteousness” (Gen. 15:6, MEV).

This happened not only for his sake “but also for us,” that righteousness might be “imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead” (Rom. 4:24, NKJV). Just as Abraham believed God could bring dead things back to life (Sarah’s “dead” womb and his own “dead” body — see Romans 4:19-22), we believe and confess that God did bring something dead back to life (the Son of God who was crucified for us). As we express faith in God’s power to resurrect, our dead souls are also raised to life. Our sins are blotted out, and God grants to us also this amazing impartation — the “gift of righteousness” (Rom. 5:17).

These are just a few of the ways God has blessed us in ways similar to Abraham. But Abraham was just one man; now there are millions who have entered a covenant relationship with the God of Abraham — and all because Jesus went to the cross.

The “curse of the law” describes all the horrendous, heartbreaking things that should result from sinning against God. (See Deuteronomy 28:15-68 for over 100 curses that pursue the disobedient to overtake and overwhelm them.) But thank God, mercy has prevailed for us and “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us … that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Gal. 3:13-14, NKJV).

Now God’s original promise to Abraham (“in you all families of the earth will be blessed”) has come to fulfillment in this new covenant era in a powerful and beautiful way. The blessing of Abraham has surrounded the globe and infiltrated every nation and race through the proclamation of the gospel. Ultimately, the Messiah was “the seed of Abraham” and we have come forth from Him, a part of His family. That’s why we are also spiritually considered Abraham’s spiritual offspring.

Isn’t that just absolutely amazing? {eoa}

What the Hundredfold Return Really Means—You May Be Surprised

Many times, especially during an offering, I’ve heard believers enthusiastically quote Jesus’ promise of a hundredfold return. Usually the forecasted results include astounding financial breakthroughs, the cancelling of debt, and material increase.

However, when you study the original text, you will discover an interpretation that is surprisingly different.

Here is the divine pledge Jesus shared with His disciples:

“Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time — houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life” (Mark 10:29-30, NKJV; see also Matthew 19:16-30 and Luke 18:18-30).

Notice money was never mentioned, and Jesus was not pledging an exact multiplication of the items He listed (e.g., if you give up one house, you will eventually own 100 more). He was proposing something altogether different, actually urging His disciples to completely sacrifice their lives for the kingdom of God. This passage was never intended as a divine strategy for His people to achieve a greater level of material prosperity.

Just ask the rich young ruler who apparently prompted the Lord to voice this challenge. Because a few moments before, that wealthy person had walked away from the Messiah sorrowfully because He’d asked him to give his excess wealth away to the needy.

It wasn’t a heaven-to-earth business proposition; it was a call to radical discipleship.

We should never pull those two beginning verses out of context to prove a prosperity point. To get a proper understanding, we must examine the whole passage (Mark 10:17-31). Jesus didn’t tell the young man that if he sowed a large offering into His ministry, his businesses and bank account would grow exponentially. Quite the opposite, He made shocking statements like this one:

“You lack one thing: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, take up the cross and follow Me” (Mark 10:21, MEV).

And the line that is quoted most often:

“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:25, NKJV).

So if this is true, what exactly was Jesus proposing?

If Jesus had intended this conversation to be the basis for a “7 Point Plan for Biblical Prosperity,” He would have presented a totally different message to the rich young ruler, who had started the conversation by asking, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (Mark 10:17, MEV).

What Jesus Really Meant

Mainly, Jesus was promising that true disciples who make great personal sacrifices to promote the gospel will be enriched by the new, godly relationships that result. The people who receive help from those who proclaim the gospel will open the doors of their hearts and homes, and there will be hundreds of new relationships formed — spiritual brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers and fathers.

The hundredfold increase primarily means the establishing of valuable, long-term covenant relationships that enrich the heart (not necessarily the wallet). Plus, don’t forget that Jesus added “persecution” at the end of the list as part of the expected “rewards.” Gulp! That part’s not easy to swallow, is it? Of course, His greatest encouragement was the promise that those who advance God’s kingdom by giving up personal ambitions and possessions will be rewarded with an eternal inheritance that infinitely surpasses anything this world can ever supply.

Balancing Out the Discussion

In closing, let me bring balance to this presentation. I do believe that God wants to prosper His people. If that were not the case, He never would have said, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 2, NKJV).

Also, when Christian businessmen invite Jesus to be Lord over their businesses and use them for His glory, God honors that and often commands His blessing. (See Deuteronomy 8:18.) There must be provision for the vision or God’s work will never move forward successfully.

For instance, all the mission trips I have taken through the years (to India and to various nations in South America and Africa) were funded by Christian businessmen whose passion was to advance God’s kingdom through their generosity, which I prayed would return to them according to the promise, “Give, and it will be given to you: Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will men give unto you. For with the measure you use, it will be measured unto you” (Luke 6:38, MEV).

So, we need to be careful not to go from one extreme to the other (or throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater). God doesn’t want His people to be poor, but at the same time the gospel is not all about attaining wealth and riches.

The truth is usually found midway between two extremes. No wonder when the disciples expressed shock and concern and Peter blurted out, “Who then can be saved?” (Mark 10:26, NKJV), Jesus responded:

“With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible” (Mark 10:27, NKJV).

Yes, the key is walking “with God” in all our earthly endeavors. {eoa}

How Can We Be ‘More Than Conquerors’?

To be a “conqueror” means to overcome oppositions or challenges by personal strength. That sounds like the highest level a person can attain.

Yet Paul declares members of the true church exceed that description. After mentioning some of the most challenging situations that we could face in life (tribulations, distresses, persecutions, famine, principalities and even death), he emphatically adds:

In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Rom. 8:37, NKJV, emphasis added).

What a mystery! How can this be? The answer pulls back the veil on the wonder of the new covenant. The only way we can obtain this status is to overcome this world and all its negatives through the efforts of another: winning by our association, receiving benefits through the price that someone else pays.

Let me give you an example. When the United States forces stormed Normandy on June 6, 1944, against the fierce opposition of the German army, miraculously and against all odds, with the help of God, they emerged as conquerors. But the populace of the United States who lived within the safe confines of our nation’s peaceful borders simultaneously became “more than conquerors.” They won through the intense efforts of those unselfish heroes who threw themselves onto a blood-soaked beachhead and crawled forward under heavy machine gun fire to take out the German bunkers.

In like manner, Jesus faced fierce, hellish attacks against His Messianic claims, but He pushed through the opposition and conquered all the archenemies of the human race. Though torturously crucified, He emerged the conqueror, “triumphing over them in it” (Col. 2:15, NKJV). Those who covenant with Him instantly become more than conquerors because it was through His grappling with sin, death and the forces of evil that we are able to overcome all these things and much more. Yes, we overcome not by human willpower or self-achieved righteousness but by “the blood of the Lamb” (Rev. 12:11, NKJV).

The Supremacy of Love

After bestowing this incredible name on God’s people, Paul the epistle writer added:

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 8:38-39).

So, the key element in enjoying this status of being more than conquerors is comprehending the greatness of the love God has bestowed on us and being convinced that nothing can divide us from that love. One of my favorite passages dealing with this subject is Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV):

The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: ‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.‘”

An everlasting love has no beginning and no end, so apparently there was never a point when God started loving His covenant people. In fact, being consumed with love toward you has always been a part of God. Even before you existed in this world, God’s heart was brimming with the plans He has for you — so He draws you in that direction every day by His kindness.

The Depth of the Father’s Love

Just before He went into Gethsemane in John 17, Jesus prayed over the church that would yet be birthed. The entire prayer fills up the whole chapter, but two choice verses apply powerfully to this revelation. Jesus said:

“[Father,] I have given them the glory which You gave Me, that they may be one even as We are one: I in them and You in Me … that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me (John 17:22-23, MEV).

Do you get that? He declared that we, His followers, are just as beloved of the Father as He is (Jesus, the firstborn Son). Later, Paul declared that nothing can separate us from that love! Encountering God’s love is the ultimate experience of life. Everything else fades in comparison, and abiding in that revelation is like dwelling in an impregnable fortress.

The Song of Solomon is a beautiful book of the Bible filled with metaphorical, poetic symbols revealing the great love the heavenly Shepherd-King-Bridegroom has for His earthly bride. In the last chapter, the bride is depicted coming out of the wilderness, leaning on the arm of her Beloved and pleading with Him:

Set me as a seal upon your heart … for love is as strong as death … Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it (Songs 8:6-7).

That really is the conclusion of the whole matter — even though the enemy has come in like a flood in all of our lives, the waters of tribulation never have and never will quench the fire of God’s love toward us and our love toward Him.

For that supreme reason above all others, we are and ever will be more than conquerors. {eoa}

The Mystery of the Mercy Seat

God calls His New Covenant people “vessels of mercy.” This is a glorious part of who we are and what we have received from the Most High God.

Here’s the reference:

“What if God, willing to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He previously prepared for glory” (Rom. 9:22-23).

These two verses clearly reveal there are only two kinds of people in this world: vessels of wrath and vessels of mercy. All human beings fall under one category or the other.

A vessel is an object purposefully created to be filled with some kind of substance. There are many kinds of vessels in our homes: cans, pots, pans, bowls, glasses, cups and so on—each with its own specific function. In like manner, human beings are vessels—created with the unique spiritual capacity of being “filled”—and a unique purpose.

Some choose to be filled with dark, sinful tendencies—like rebellion, lust, anger and selfishness. Others seek to be filled with the nature of God—love, joy, peace, wisdom and grace. Our highest passion, though, should be an infilling, not just of godlike traits, but of God Himself, His personal presence. Only then can we fulfill the divinely authored design for our lives. But what happens when there have been deep failures preventing the fulfillment of the divine purpose? That’s when mercy shines through like a beacon in the night.

What Is Mercy?

Mercy is compassion shown especially to offenders or those of criminal behavior. It is pity extended toward the guilty, even though judgment is deserved. It can also be sympathetic care expressed toward those who are hurting, challenged or damaged in some way.

Mercy is a dominant character trait in the personality of God, who identified that characteristic first in describing Himself to Moses, saying—”The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious … keeping mercy for thousands” (Ex. 34:6b-7a).

During that Old Covenant era, God also gave the design for something called “the tabernacle”: a humble, tent-like structure where the divine presence resided, and where God’s people came to worship and seek His favor. The tabernacle had three chambers: the outer court, the holy place and the holy of holies. In the innermost chamber was the ark of the covenant.

The two tablets of stone on which God wrote the Ten Commandments were in the ark, as well as the book of the Law. This revelation (the Torah) was later called “the ministry of condemnation” and “the ministry of death,” because of the serious judgments pronounced on those who failed to live up to its standard (2 Cor. 3:7-9).

The Mystery of the Mercy Seat

There was one thing that was positioned higher than the Law, thankfully, and that was the lid of the ark—also called “the mercy seat” (Ex. 25:17). No man ever sat there, but on the lid, between the cherubim, God’s glory rested. The blood of a goat was sprinkled on it one time a year, on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), lifting the sin-debt of the Israelite people.

The mercy seat was God’s representative throne on earth—a revelation of His heart—that on the highest level His desire was to be, not just a stern judge executing retribution toward those who break His law, but “the Father of mercies” toward erring human beings who appeal to Him for forgiveness (2 Cor. 1:3).

There is a mystery concerning the mercy seat that can only be discovered by going to the original Greek. The phrase “mercy seat” is only found one time in the New Testament—Hebrews 9:5—translated from one Greek word hilasterion. How intriguing it is that hilasterion is also translated “propitiation” in Romans 3:25 as a description of the Lord Jesus:

“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith, in His blood” (Rom. 3:24-25a).

The word “propitiation” means satisfaction for the demands of justice. So, Jesus is our hilasterion. He is our propitiation. He is our mercy seat. He satisfied the demands of justice. And for those who claim His salvation, “mercy triumphs over judgment” (James 2:13b). Thank God!

Because we are now the temples of God, in the new holy of holies (our regenerated spirits) spiritually, the ark of the covenant abides. If that be true, then God is enthroned in us and our hearts have become His new representative throne, from which His mercy flows out to the hurting world around us.

The Main Requirement

The primary attitude that attracts the mercy of God is the fear of the Lord. This is not a crippling kind of fleshly fear, but a deep reverential awe toward the Creator. It is the highest expression of respect for God’s highness, God’s holiness, God’s authority and God’s majesty. Those who cultivate this attitude toward God are given wonderful promises, such as:

“For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him” (Ps. 103:11).

Consider just how high “the heavens” must be. Scripture teaches there are three heavens (2 Cor. 12:2-4). The first heaven is probably the atmosphere around the earth and the physical universe beyond. The second heaven is most likely a higher, intermediate spiritual realm filled with angelic and demonic activity. The third heaven, called paradise, is the highest realm, the dwelling place of God, where His glory manifests. I would dare to propose that the third heaven is incalculable in size. Six verses later we find another great promise:

“But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear Him” (Ps. 103:17a).

So from eternity past to eternity future, there is no limit to the amount of mercy available for those who reverence God to the highest degree. It weaves its way through all the negatives of the past and in advance, through all the challenges of the future—even death itself.

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16, NKJV).

Yes, we are “vessels of mercy”—this is who we are for time and eternity! {eoa}

Former Yogi: What Really Is ‘The Kundalini?’

According to the yogic teachings found in Hinduism, there is an energy at the base of the spine called “the kundalini” (in Sanskrit it means “coiled snake”). Yogi Bhajan, the promoter of Kundalini Yoga in the West, called it “the dormant power of infinity.”

Adherents teach that it is the impersonal essence of the divine, resident within every human being. Strangely and eerily, it is also called the “serpent power”—because it supposedly ‘uncoils’ and rises, in serpentine fashion, through the spinal column (the seven energy centers called “chakras”) to lift a person up to higher levels of spiritual awareness. Upon arriving at the seventh chakra, metaphorically, the serpent suddenly strikes, and God-consciousness is achieved (a conscious awareness that the soul—called atman—is actually one with the impersonal oversoul—called Brahman). In other words, this supernatural revelation empowers the practitioner to boldly declare, “I am God!”—which is the absolute opposite of the truth, utter blasphemy and an echo of the original lie told to Eve in the garden.

Hindus and New Agers who believe in the kundalini claim it is a manifestation of the goddess Shakti (also spelled Sakti). Theoretically, when it passes through the sixth chakra (the third eye) and finally reaches the seventh chakra at the top of the head, the goddess Shakti comes into union with the god Shiva (the god of destruction in Hinduism, who is also named “the lord of yoga”). That’s when consciousness supposedly expands exponentially. Read that again: it means coming into a supernatural complete union with the “god of destruction” who is also “the lord of yoga.”

Rabi Maharaj, author of a wonderful book titled The Death of a Guru, has been a follower of Jesus for many years. However, he was once a very devoted yoga practitioner. In his book, he commented, “When aroused … [the kundalini] rages like a vicious serpent inside a person with a force that is impossible to resist. It is said that without proper control, the kundalini will produce supernatural psychic powers having their source in demonic beings and will lead ultimately to moral, spiritual, and physical destruction. Nevertheless, it is this kundalini power that meditation and yoga are designed to arouse.”

A very popular guru in the ’70s, Swami Muktananda, was known for his ability to perform something called “shaktipat” (the transference of a kundalini awakening through just a touch, a look, a word or even just a thought). He related his own experience with the “awakening of the kundalini.” He encountered a naked ascetic blissfully meditating on top of a pile of human excreta (if you are thinking, That’s really weird, I agree).

This Hindu “holy man” invited him to come sit on his lap and lick his head. The ascetic then proceeded to initiate Muktananda into Kundalini Yoga. Later that day he explained, “My mind seemed deluded. … I felt I would soon become insane. … My entire body started aching and … the tongue began to move down the throat, and all attempts to pull it out failed. … My fear grew. … I felt severe pain in the knot (manipur chakra) below the navel. I tried to shout but could not even I saw ugly and dreadful demon-like figures. I thought them to be evil spirits. … Suddenly I saw a large ball of light approaching me from the front. … It merged into my head. … I was terrified by that powerfully dazzling light.”

Though not all stories dealing with the “awakening of the kundalini” match the bizarre aspects of this account, still, it should be blatantly apparent that there is a supernatural power involved in this process that is not of God. If the “awakening of the kundalini” were something good, there would never be concurrent resulting manifestations that are evidently evil or frightening.

4 Observations About the Kundalini

The Serpent Symbol: Many New Agers relate to the serpent as a symbol of esoteric wisdom. According to their perspective, the serpent did not entrap Eve in sin, but rather, he liberated her by revealing the secret to discovering her own divinity. On the contrary, biblically, a serpent is a symbol of Satan and his demonic underlings. In Revelation 12:9, the devil is referred to as a “great dragon … that ancient serpent … who deceives the whole world.” A venomous serpent is an agent of death, just as the prince of darkness, who comes to “to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10b). In representing our authority to subdue the demonic, Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents” (Luke 10:19a, KJV). He never would have done that if the “serpent power” were truly symbolic of the essence of God within us.

Opposite Spiritual Perspective: The approach in New Age circles and Far Eastern religions is to look within in order to find God, then to awaken this “serpent power” through various means (yoga, meditation, chanting mantras and so forth). They believe that this “coiled energy” is a divine essence that all human beings already possess, but it must be discovered. In stark contrast, the Bible teaches that our sins have separated us from God, that He is external, that we are in a fallen state and that true salvation happens when the presence of God enters into us from without. That happens the moment that we are cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus and we are born again. These two views cannot coexist.

Dangerous Side Effects: Most gurus and yoga teachers warn their students about the danger of a premature arousal of the kundalini because of the possible negative side effects. In contrast, there is absolutely no account in the Bible of the Spirit of God moving on a person to their detriment. No repentant person, receiving Jesus into his or her heart, has the kind of weird and frightful encounters Muktananda described, to the point of even feeling insane. Only good, healthy, enriching things result from contacting the real Creator. There is no lurking danger present when communing with the Lord of glory. No person filled with the Holy Spirit in the Bible lamented the experience because it resulted in a manifestation of evil, psychic powers. The true power of God saves, heals, delivers and grants soundness of mind. Therefore, the source of this “serpent power” could not be God, but rather, the evil one, who masquerades as “an angel of light,” and his subordinate demons—who have crafted this experience as a substitute for, and a counterfeit of, the real experience of God (2 Cor. 11:14). Those who yield to this dark demonic influence are, at times, granted supernatural experiences that can seem beautiful, enlightening and ecstatic to woo them away from the true source of eternal life. Remember, Jesus warned that Satan comes to “steal and kill and destroy” but He added the promise, “I came that they may have life” (John 10:10b, MEV) The word translated “life” is zoe, which means divine life, the life of God’s Spirit. Until Jesus comes in our hearts, contrary to the Eastern perspective, we are devoid of this divine essence, “dead in [our] trespasses and sins” (Eph. 2:1).

Chakras : The whole idea of the kundalini is interwoven with a belief in chakras. The existence of these supposed swirling energy centers in the body has never been proven scientifically. Furthermore, the idea of chakras is based on the belief that God is an impersonal force on which to meditate, not a personal God with whom to commune (as the Bible reveals). Furthermore, each chakra is associated with a specific deity in the Hindu pantheon—so people who ascribe to “Christian yoga” who say they also believe in the chakras (and yet are unaware of this connection) are unknowingly guilty of breaking the first commandment. I concluded shortly after I found Jesus that the chakras are imaginary, but that evil spirits use that occult imagery to infiltrate the souls of those who meditate or do yoga in order to grant false spiritual experiences and prevent them from encountering the true God and true salvation.

My Deliverance Story and My Invitation

In closing, let me briefly share why I believe I can speak with authority on this subject. In 1969, after a near-death experience, I began desperately searching for truth. During that impressionable phase of my life, I met Yogi Bhajan. Believing his sect of yoga could be my answer, I dropped out of college to study under him full time. Eventually, I became a teacher of Kundalini Yoga at four universities and ran a yoga ashram in Tampa, Florida. Several hundred students considered me their “guru” (a title that means “one who leads you from darkness to light”). Then I encountered Jesus—the true light of the world—and everything changed dramatically.

If you are interested in reading a detailed account of my conversion, go to my comparative religion website () and download a free copy of my mini-book titled The Highest Adventure: Encountering God. Also, if you know someone who is having kundalini manifestations and needs deliverance, get in touch with me through the website, and we will seek God in that person’s behalf. {eoa}

This Is Still Our First Priority as Believers

As the world erupts around us in chaos and confusion, it is vital that we, the body of Christ, remind ourselves who we are and what our primary purpose is in this world.

To accomplish that, we must draw the focus tight on one verse out of the 31,102 verses in God’s Word—Acts 1:8. These are the last words Jesus spoke, just before He ascended into heaven (and without a doubt, the Savior’s last words should be our first priority).

After telling His followers it was not for them to know the times and seasons which the Father had put in His own authority, the Messiah prophesied:

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

In other words, even if they were not able to comprehend prophetically everything that would unfold in the years to come, they still had an even more important job to do. It is the same for us. In all our discussions concerning last-days prophecies, we need to look beyond the charts to the masses of lost people in this world—and stir this calling like a burning coal buried deep in our hearts until the flames leap high again.

What Does It Mean to Be a Witness?

If we were to give a dictionary-style explanation for this calling, it might go like this:

A witness is:

— Someone who publicly affirms by word or action a certain belief or conviction.

— Someone who has personal knowledge.

— Someone offering evidence or proof.

Because we have personal knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is our responsibility to publicly affirm that He truly is the Savior of the world. Our transformed lives should be evidence that He rose from the dead, ascended to heaven and is presently Lord over all nations. But the ears of those around us must hear our spoken witness as well—as often as possible.

Here’s the heart-gripping revelation: the Greek word translated “witness” is martus—also translated “martyr” in Scripture. So, a real witness biblically is someone willing to die (physically) for the cause of Christ or to die (spiritually) to all the allurements and deceptions of this world that could hinder our God-given purpose. We need to ask ourselves the question: Are we really doing that? Are we “dying” to fear and intimidation to boldly proclaim His name?

The Primary Reason for the Power

What was the real reason God gave the baptism of the Holy Spirit (“the promise of the Father”) on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 1:4-5)? Was it just to bless and edify the believers who received? Was it just to awaken gifts that helped their own maturing in the things of God? Or did the Lord have something else in mind?

Evidently, it was the divine enablement to courageously witness the truth in a world full of deception. The disciples were “endued with power” (Greek dunamis, also translated “mighty” and “miracle”) not just for their own spiritual advancement, but for the sake of others (Luke 24:49b, NKJV). Though the apostles were considered “illiterate and uneducated men” (Acts 4:13b, MEV), this empowerment equipped them to shake Jerusalem with revival—a place where the intellectuals of Israel gathered. And as these Jesus followers witnessed for the Most High, He responded by witnessing for them:

“God also bore them witness with signs and wonders and diverse miracles and with gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His own will” (Heb. 2:4).

This is still God’s pattern. He still intends to confirm the Word this way. The rushing mighty wind and the consuming fire from heaven have blown and burned to every continent and every nation. The world is in a constant state of flux; unpredictable things are happening all around us; stable nations can become unstable in a day’s time. But God’s passion hasn’t changed, for the ancient prophecy hovers over us still:

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matt. 24:14, NKJV).

The Creator is still working on the reacquisition of this planet, and He is depending on us to help Him accomplish this incredible feat. In a world full of many false deities, His voice echoes:

“You are My witnesses, says the Lord, that I am God” (Isa. 43:12b, MEV).

How can we give sleep to our eyes or slumber to our eyelids until we accomplish this holy task—until every man and woman has heard of the salvation that can be found in Jesus alone? Don’t you think we should relegate our political wranglings and our Facebook rants to a lesser position of importance and climb the stairs to this “high calling of God in Christ Jesus”? (Phil. 3:14b).

It’s time to die to self and come alive to this God-given purpose—above all other things! {eoa}
