At a recent prayer event in the town square of Franklin, Tennessee, the crowd roared in approval as a resolution was announced by our state legislature proclaiming a yearly month of prayer and fasting!

The “Volunteer State” led America when the Supreme Court ok’d its ban on transgender surgery and puberty blockers for minors. Now, patriotic lawmakers hope to inspire the nation with their resolution to initiate an annual month of prayer and fasting.

As the people of Tennessee prayed and elected patriotic, principled politicians, God moved on the lawmakers to remove June as “Pride Month” and replace it with “Nuclear Family Month.” Further, they passed legislation ensuring election integrity by stating, ‘only citizens with a permanent, valid driver’s license are eligible to vote.’

We remember John Adams, who declared at another difficult time in American history (April 15, 1799):

This day be observed throughout America as a day of solemn humiliation, fasting and prayers… to yield a more suitable obedience to His righteous requisitions in times to come. ‘Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people’ (Proverbs 14:34).

Historic Setting

The Tennessee declaration came on the grounds where iconic prayer leader E.M. Bounds held Tuesday evening prayer meetings in the 1860s. After one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War took place in Franklin (2,300 died/7,000 wounded) he saw the drunkenness and prostitution in nearby Nashville and drew hundreds to appeal for repentance and revival! The heaviness lifted and his church exploded to 500!

Subsequent to the consequential election of 2024, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed a bill calling for 30 days of prayer and fasting for the month of July, celebrating the obvious intervention of God in our heaven-sent “reprieve.” In addition, lawmakers announced legislation for 2025’s month of prayer and fasting to become a yearly event.

In November 1979, an international crisis began in Iran when 66 Americans were held hostage by radical Islamists for over a year. Scripture Speaks

Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God‘s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. The primary functions of legitimate civil government are simple:

Jesus said, “I have not come to bring peace, but a sword” (). Facing the reality of evil in the world, He directed His disciples to go forth and carry a sword for protection and self-defense (Lk .22:36). In Gethsemane He did not tell Peter to throw away his sword but simply put it back in its place (Matt. 26:52).

Iranian Threat

The slaughter continued until we dropped an atomic (not nuclear) “Little Boy” bomb on Hiroshima, Japan that totally vaporized 72,000 people in seconds!

Fact: Thermo nuclear bombs are at minimum 100 times more powerful and destructive than what hit Hiroshima. Where I live in Franklin, Tennessee, we have about 90,000 people so imagine the devastation from a nuclear strike today plus the radiation spreading to all surrounding areas!

Question: “Do you want Iran, a radical terrorist death cult committed to the annihilation of Israel and America (plus a world under Sharia law) to have a nuclear weapon?”

We can’t risk affirming Pope Leo and his well-intended peaceful but unrealistic platitudes in the face of apocalyptic realities.

Little Red Hen

Remember the classic story from 1874 that we were taught as children about the “Little Red Hen?” It’s a parable with real application for Great Britain, France, Italy and all our so-called “allies.”

An industrious hen worked for days in the barnyard to collect wheat to make bread. At every stage she asked animals for help, but they refused. She harvested and worked the wheat into flour before finally baking the bread. Finally, with the delicious bread and smell permeating the yard, she asked them who would like to partake? They accepted, but she refused, telling them that the next time she begins the process, if they help, they could all enjoy the bread! Do you think they helped the next time?

If a mass murderer lived next door and for almost 50 years regularly, told you he was going to kill you, your children and your grandchildren while he boasted that he was also funding “hitmen” who were carrying out his bidding in the neighborhood, would you simply wait passively for the maniacal killer or do you think you’d work with authorities to take immediate action before it’s too late?

Our president has declared, “After Venezuela, Cuba is a failing country, and they’re going to be next! We will be there to help.” Now that oil shipments from Venezuela have stopped, Cuba is in its worst economic crisis! Protests have started amid blackouts; there are severe food shortages and limited access to medical care. Forget about fishing off the island – it is prohibited as totalitarian rulers try to block citizens wanting to escape. Yet somehow, 125,000 people miraculously fled!

Turning Point

When Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, it seemed too good to be true for 3.5 million Black Americans. Presently, 11 million Cubans are sensing freedom from the iron fist of communism after 66 years! Our “disruptor” president, Donald Trump, is working strategically to help make it happen in our day. “What a day of rejoicing it will be when communism in Cuba crumbles!” As the late Christian revivalist, Leonard Ravenhill, declared, “The opportunity of a lifetime must be seized in the lifetime of the opportunity.”

Secretary of State and Cuban-American Marco Rubio is the Administration’s” point person” and declares, “The people in charge don’t know how to fix it, so they have to get new people in charge.” Cubans are grappling with constant power outages and the escalating humanitarian crisis. For over 60 years, the system has been progressively breaking down. Sewage is mixed with drinking water; there is little or no cooking fuel; and there are no streetlights, as protests similar to those in Iran are occurring. “They’re a failed nation and have no oil, no money, and we’re negotiating with them,” President Trump said recently. Grinding poverty, hunger, and the corruption of Communism have taken their toll. May this be the end of a failed tyrannical system!

Helpful History

Pro-communist and socialist leftists are manipulating the masses in America. Radicals in Cuba and America present “history” that doesn’t reflect reality but romanticizes “heroes“ like the Castros and Che Guevara (murderers and criminals) while working aggressively to dismantle the very foundations of our country. They use “Critical Race Theory” propaganda in schools and media, and the 1619 Project, whose creator praised Cuba as “the most equal country in the western hemisphere – a model for the US.”

In 1959, Fidel Castro assured the world that he was not a communist. As he took office, he said he was a “Marxist” leading the Cuban people on a path to peace and prosperity! He called himself a “freedom fighter, “yet he eventually curtailed any ownership of private property and private enterprise. He told the people, “Universities are tuition-free” (but only for those who embraced his revolutionary beliefs). He took control of the media and pioneered “cancel culture” way before progressives did it here! People trying to flee Cuba were tortured. Castro killed over 3500 people by firing squad. In 1994, he ordered a tugboat carrying women and children sunk while they were fleeing the repressive socialist state.

Headlines of days gone by declared, “All Roads Lead to Havana!” Castro called Cuba a “people’s paradise.” Then his regime took control of elections with its one-party state, and what was once a beautiful vacation destination (remember Ricky and Lucy Riccardo?) became a prison where people lost liberty, human rights and freedom of religion. Castro demolished scores of church buildings and mandated that children be indoctrinated in atheism. Their form of Critical Race Theory propagandized the people into believing Cuba’s old order needed a “fundamental transformation” to the new order of caring for needs from cradle to grave! “Free healthcare! Free education! Government giveaways!” Recognize the progressive strategy?

Communism never delivers as advertised and has devastated lives and countries throughout history. The average wage in Cuba is about $20 per month, with people living in deteriorating shacks similar to San Francisco’s homeless havens. Its harbor is almost empty of boats, and the few people who own cars have 1950 or earlier models!

The Real Story of St. Patrick

Years ago when I ministered in Ireland, I recall the descent of the plane and how absolutely awestruck I was as I beheld for the first time the Emerald Isle. This deep green countryside is the picture conjured up in the hearts and minds of tens of thousands of Irish celebrants who annually dye the Chicago River green for St. Patrick’s Day. And in celebrations throughout America, this special feast day is a sign of spring, bringing welcome relief after the cold of winter.

But what’s really behind this day and the man we honor? After all, he died over 1,500 years ago on March 17, 461.

Patrick was born in Britain in A.D. 390. He was raised in a Christian family, but his interest in God was almost nonexistent. He also was illiterate.

Teens are often apt to wander, and Patrick sure did, reaping the consequences. At the age of 16, he was kidnapped by thugs and taken hostage on a ship to Ireland.

Imagine the trauma and grief his parents experienced while praying for God’s miraculous intervention and the return of their son.

For six agonizing years, he was trapped as a slave, working as a shepherd on hills where he tended the sheep. He was alone. He was scared. In desperation he began to cry out to God to rescue him from his plight.

Patrick excelled in his understanding of the Scriptures, and his character impacted his superiors and peers. Eventually, they affirmed him in becoming an overseer/bishop in the church.

Patrick Returns

Three decades after his initial abduction, Patrick sensed God stirring his heart. The Holy Spirit was directing him to go back to the pagan land of Ireland to evangelize the people mired in deception and darkness.

Patrick recorded his sentiments as he wrote, “I am ready to be murdered, betrayed, enslaved—whatever may come my way!” May his courage ignite something in our hearts to reject silence and cowardice in the face of our cultural attacks today. May this man’s bravery inspire us to speak the truth in love regarding homosexuality, militant Islam, dishonesty, fornication (living together or casual sex), adultery, and compromising “Christians” yielding to pornography and a host of carnal indulgences in our day.

Incredible Spiritual Awakening

As Patrick crisscrossed the countryside, God blessed him mightily. Tens of thousands of Irish were converted and hundreds of churches were established! Thomas Cahill writes in his book How the Irish Saved Civilization that through Patrick’s courageous leadership, this warrior populace “laid down the swords of battle, flung away the knives of sacrifice, and cast away their chains of slavery.”

Some people understand the explosive situation in Minnesota where multitudes of protesters believe, along with the governor and mayor, that they have the right to eject “by any means necessary,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) federal agents from their state.

• Alter the US Constitution, recasting it as a “flexible/breathing” document.
• Establish birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants and their families.
• Restore DEI preferential policies in schools, military and government institutions.
• Establish government run healthcare.
• Capitulate to Iran reigniting its nuclear capability.
• Restore Green New Deal policies
• Establish unrestricted taxpayer abortion alongside Planned Parenthood funding.
• Incorporate democratic socialism to replace free market capitalism.
• Phase out Immigration and Customs Enforcement; legalize, marijuana; defund the police; restore government-funded transgender affirmative care; provide free childcare; eliminate voter ID; impeach Donald Trump.
• Restore massive government spending programs, increasing federal debt, economic meltdown and the need for greater government takeover and socialist control.

Are all the participants cognizant of this agenda? Absolutely not! They are either “useful idiots” or paid agitators who help ignite the fire.

What We Do

Peaceful protest is our Constitutional privilege and right in America. Violent insurrection and rebellion against our laws and duly appointed federal authorities is not and must be punished along with elected officials who condone and promote it!

Stephen Miller, White House, deputy chief of staff, says, “There is an effort to de-legitimize the core function of the federal government – of enforcing our immigration laws and sovereignty – it is domestic terrorism, it is insurrection, and no amount of insane hyperventilating lies from… any Democratic official will change our mind on that. ICE officers should not have to live in fear and violence to do their job!”

Amen!

Throughout our history, is there a precedent for sending in federal law enforcement agents to cities and supporting them? Absolutely.

Our president pledged to remove law-breaking, undocumented migrants; took an oath to protect citizens; and uphold our constitution and laws, which some rebellious leaders and citizens tragically disregarded. Integrity demands accountability.

While former President Joe Biden disregarded laws established by Congress, allowing about 14 million illegal immigrants into America (including criminals, murderers, sex traffickers, rapists and child smugglers), President Trump has sought to restore the principle of “rule of law,” often citing the Insurrection Act of 1807.

If you’re not familiar with this U.S. federal law, it empowers the President of the United States to deploy federal agents, the armed forces, and the National Guard to suppress civil disorder, insurrection, and armed rebellion.

Here are just a few examples:

• In 1963, JFK sent 17,000 National Guard to Alabama to force rebellious Governor Wallace to admit nine students to schools.
• Recently, George Bush, the elder, deployed federally appointed troops in 1992 to quell lawlessness and rioting in LA.
• Ronald Reagan, in 1970, deployed federally dispatched troops to curb dangerous protests in California.
• In 1808, President Thomas Jefferson invoked the Insurrection Act to address law breaking Muslims regarding our US Embargo Act.
• In 1831, President Andrew Jackson cited the Insurrection Act in Turner’s rebellion.
• Probably our greatest president, Abraham Lincoln, used the Insurrection Act in 1861 at the beginning of the Civil War.
• After the Civil War, President Ulysses S Grant invoked the Act during Reconstruction.
• Woodrow Wilson as president invoked the Act in 1914 dealing with out of control protests
• In 1921, President Harding invoked it during numerous labor uprisings.
• Franklin Roosevelt used it to blunt race riots and out-of-control protests in Detroit.
• In 1957, President Dwight Eisenhower used the National Guard with racist leaders who were resisting integration in schools.

Here’s the deal: Mayhem and mob rule in Minnesota must be dealt with decisively. Before the outbreak of the Civil War, President James Buchanan failed to address the lawlessness that escalated into the conflagration, nearly resulting in the demise of the United States. We’re witnessing an extremely dangerous situation, but we’ve pulled back the curtain to expose Satan’s master plan, so we will stand strong as “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

When I personally spoke with the often-publicized former Planned Parenthood director and pro-abortion promoter, Cecile Richards, she was proud to proclaim that she was 100% in favor of taxpayer-funded abortion on demand till birth.

Contrast her with Norma McCorvey, “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade who famously said, “I am dedicated to spending the rest of my life, undoing the law that bears my name.” Hear the crickets? As a defender of pre-born babies, interesting she wasn’t given much press!

Darlings of the media who are pro-abortionists fighting for “women’s reproductive healthcare” (minus 50% of the population who are unborn “little ladies” being exterminated), seem to get all the media coverage.

Will this pattern continue with the upcoming Jan. 23 March for Life in Washington, D.C., where masses gather and remarks will come from President Trump and Vice President Vance? They’ll declare every life is sacred, made in the image of God and deserving protection and proper care.

25 Females at the Forefront of the Pro-Life Cause

After the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, multitudes across America repented of complacency and cowardice on the cultural issues of our day. Evidence of an “awakening” has been seen in an uptick of church attendance, Bible sales, high school and college ministries, plus cultural engagement in areas like the pro-life movement. Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow and leader of Turning Point USA, is an outspoken proponent for protecting pre-born babies.

Dr. Alveda King, the once pro-abortion niece of Martin Luther King Jr., is one of the most passionate prolife leaders in America today. She, like millions of compassionate Americans, serves tirelessly to rescue babies and direct women to pregnancy resource centers around the nation where staff and volunteers counsel, care for, and come alongside their sisters to guide them on the path to birthing or giving the child to a couple waiting to adopt.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is the youngest woman in American history to hold this prestigious position, and she unashamedly and boldly stands and speaks for the unborn in development in a mother’s womb. She just announced she’s elated to be pregnant with baby number two!

CNN had a commentary titled “Open Your Eyes Prolife Feminists are Everywhere.” Not all women now and in the past, identify with the “feminist” label, but lots are “coming out of the closet” to refute misinformation and deception that what’s growing in a mother’s womb is just a blob of tissue!

Open Our Eyes

The prophet Elisha had to instill fortitude in his frightened friend because of a multitude that seemed overwhelming. He said, “Do not be afraid, for there are more with us than with them…Lord, open his eyes and let him see” (2 Kings 6:16–17)!

Charlie Kirk’s recently released book right after his assassination is an Amazon No. 1 best seller. Its theme is the spiritual discipline of observing a Sabbath rest to enjoy its related rewards. Multitudes are reading it and resetting their lives for success in the new year.

Another means of grace many are re-examining is fasting, following the biblical pattern, not for weight loss, but rather to renew “first love” for Jesus and find a new realm of fruitfulness.

Open Reward

When we humble ourselves through fasting to abstain from nourishment in order to seek God and His promised provisions, we position ourselves to be recipients of real breakthrough and blessing! In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus inspires us explaining when fasting is done properly “the Father will reward you openly” (Matt. 6:15 – 18 KJV). Steering clear of legalism and outward show, plus remaining in expectant faith, we can be confident of God honoring His Word regarding fasting just like He also promised in Isaiah 58 “the Lord shall guide you … and your healing will quickly appear” v .11:8.

Remember, Jesus told inquirers that His disciples weren’t fasting while He as the Bridegroom was present with them but after He left, “then they will fast” (Matt. 9:14-15).

Avoid Fasting?

Revivalist Lou Engle has been my friend for 50 years. He lived two doors away from our home. He also told me once something startling: “I hate fasting!”

So, he’s motivated by rehearsing the benefits and recounting God’s phenomenal interventions in history in his life through the spiritual practice.

Multitudes don’t fast today because of bad religious experiences (raised Catholic, I was forced to fast weekly, and hated it!); or believe it’s a discarded Old Testament practice associated with sin, sorrow and mourning. Manufacturers of Mrs. Paul’s Fish Sticks loved the mandatory Friday fasting, but scores of us detested it and celebrated its discontinuance!

Today, we have the privilege of willingly engaging in a grace empowered “bridal fast” not out of legalism, but a longing for greater intimacy with Jesus. We eagerly await the Return of our Bridegroom; the consummation of the age; and the “new heaven and new earth spoken of in Revelations 21.”

Testimonies

Ministering during the Jesus Movement, I shared Bible teacher, Derek Prince’s, (“Changing History Through Prayer and Fasting”) challenge for us to forgo food and intercede to change America. Praying first of all for governing authorities (I Timothy 2:1-4), we watched as before our very eyes for the first time in US history a sitting president and vice-president were removed from office as unrighteousness was exposed!

Before he died at 81, I had the honor to pray with Campus Crusade founder Bill Bright. He once received the Templeton Award for Religious Progress and donated the entire $1.1 million to promote the benefits of prayer and fasting.

As a result, we will sense the Presence of the Lord more than ever before.”

Richard Foster said, “In a culture where the landscape is dotted with shrines to the Golden Arches and an assortment of pizza temples, fasting seems out of place, out of step with the times. In fact, fasting has been in general disrepute both in and outside the church for many years. For example, in my research, I could not find a single book published on the subject of Christian fasting from 1861 to 1954—a period of nearly 100 years!”

Throughout history, deception has been used to manipulate people to believe lies. Pharaohs in Egypt used it to trick people into believing they were gods. Hitler wrote of it in his manifesto, Mein Kompf, as a “Big Lie” to mislead masses while his Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels allegedly said, “If you tell people a lie long enough, they’ll believe it.” Tobacco companies used to tell us cigarettes “weren’t addictive but healthy!”

Jesus told us the number 1 sign in last days before His Return was massive deception! He cited it four times in His “last days” discourse, Matthew 24.  

The White House just launched the “Media Offender of the Week” to expose deception in our day. “Misleading. Biased. Exposed.” declares the website.

Preparation

Deception is rampant today. What do we do to recognize it and courageously counter it as truth tellers? Prophetic author, George Orwell, said in his classic work, 1984, “During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.”

1. “Stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist…” (Eph. 6:14).

2. “Now the Spirit expressly says that in the last days, some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies…” (1 Tim. 4:1-2).

3. “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away (Greek, apostasy) comes first…” (2 Thess. 2:3).

4 Precautions

1. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit whom Jesus said was “the Spirit of truth who comes and will guide you into all the truth…” (Jn. 16:13). We must learn to discern truth from error, remembering the words of Charles Spurgeon, “Discernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong, but right and almost right!”

2. Make sure you are faithful and committed in a local church, embracing the authority of sacred Scripture. “We should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting…” (Eph.4:14).

3. Cultivate humility and teachability, inviting input and correction. “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (Jam. 4:6). C.S. Lewis cautioned us, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less.”

4. Study the scripture consistently and do not compromise with anything or anyone who discredits it and/or deviates from its divine inspiration. “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman not to be ashamed able to rightly divide the word of truth.”

Years ago, I had the distinct honor of having a “divine appointment” with Dr. Billy Graham, one of Christianity’s greatest leaders. I shared with him that during the Jesus Movement there was a gathering of 2000 primarily young people meeting weekly 10 minutes from the White House and asked what one bit of advice would he want me to convey to the gathering?  He pointed to his Bible saying, “Stay in the Book! Stay in the Book!”

So we stay on track and steer clear of today’s tsunami of deception. Let’s seize the safeguard God has provided us.

Sobering Stories

1. For the first time in our almost 250-year history an outspoken former rapper who identifies as a “Marxist and Islamist” was elected mayor of a major American city, New York! Imagine our largest and most influential metropolis, home to the Stock Market, United Nations and the New York Times governed by a 34-year-old with no political experience, touting communist policies that brought death and destruction to hundreds of millions in the last century.

2. The church we founded in the DC area during the Jesus Movement that birthed churches and ministries now in 47 countries was turned over to a nationally known young leader years ago. He later departed and denounced Christianity, divorced his wife and devastated his children in the wake of his deception.

3. An NFL superstar shared about his wonderful Christian experience as a young man, mission trips, and commitment to Christ. Then he pivoted seeing “religion as a crutch” and does not believe in people being saved or in heaven or hell and likes the Dalai Lama. 

Here’s the Deal: We live in days of deception. We need to stay close to Jesus and authentic Christians in strong churches committed to “Stay in the Book! Stay in the Book!”

Let’s be honest, your upcoming holiday get-togethers have potential for wonderful memory-making or some weird occurrences that’ll make you wonder how you ever got into such a mess! God may have some surprises ahead with a cantankerous uncle, curmudgeon senior or an unexpected boyfriend or girlfriend with uber-liberal political views.                    

Scripture tells us, “A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished” (Prov. 22:3). Pressure reveals the person so this may be your providential “heads up” so you’re prepared.

My earliest memories as a child of our extended family gatherings during the holidays remain indelibly etched on the photographic plates of my mind. The annual celebrations were the highlight of the year!

God’s will is that we experience happiness and unity in our times together. Our unseen adversary plots to undermine this goal so here are some time-tested tips that can help you.

Having Holiday Harmony 

The Bible instructs us, “Be sober and watchful, because your adversary the devil walks around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet. 2:7). Let’s not give too much credit to the enemy of our soul but let’s face the fact that he has clever schemes ready to undermine God’s beautiful plans.

To be forewarned is to be for forearmed!

1. Start with prayer

This may seem obvious but it’s often overlooked! Prior to the upcoming family get together, pray for God’s favor and discernment so He can “deliver you from the evil one” when you come together.

2. Serve

Be intentional to embrace the heart of a servant rather than a spectator and mere consumer. When Jesus gathered for His Last Supper with His friends, He washed their feet and reminded us, “I have given you an example” and “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them” (,17). Invest in those present by possibly helping with the dishes, clean up or engaging a fussy, hyperactive child.

3. Ask Questions

Scripture teaches that “the heart of a man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out” (Prov. 20:5). Accept people as they are and take a genuine interest in their lives. Imitate Jesus who would be in the temple among teachers “listening to them and asking them questions” (Lk. 2:46).

4. Be Comfortable with Silence

No need to keep the motor running when there are pauses in conversations. “Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise; and he who shuts his lips is esteemed a man of understanding” ().

5. Avoid Arguments

“The servant of the Lord must not quarrel, but must be gentle towards all people…”

(2 Tim. 2:24). Stimulating conversations can quickly take a wrong turn necessitating someone skillfully redirect the flow. “The beginning of strife is as when one lets out water; therefore, abandon contention before a quarrel starts” (Prov. 17:14).

6. Reach Out

In getting ready for our bountiful feasts, do we do as Jesus instructed? When a man prepared a supper and some invited guests didn’t come, Jesus said he should include the less fortunate and “bring in the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind” ().

A while ago we invited a grieving man whose wife had died a year before to watch a ballgame with us. On a somewhat regular basis, we’ve reached out to invite people who would be alone for holiday events. These can also be wonderful opportunities for evangelism.

7. Show Understanding

For those of us who are used to simply plopping down for lavish gourmet offerings during the holidays, we may not be aware of how much time and effort goes into the culinary spread. Moms can literally invest days in planning and preparation for the special occasion.

It sure doesn’t honor mom or help her maintain composure when hungry participants add stress with annoying inquiries or failure to come when called due to a “2-Minute Warning” in football games elongated to 20!

8. Focus on Family (and Friends) First

 “Let nothing be done out of strife or conceit, but in humility let each esteem the other better than himself. Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Phil. 2:3-4).

Ninety-nine percent of our stress-inducers can vanish by putting this verse into practice. Be proactive and meditate upon this verse before you attend.

When a brilliant scientist with the largest megaphone espousing atheism and evolution comes “out of the closet” declaring transgender claims are “ridiculous,” it causes a soft explosion. Richard Dawkins, author of “The God Delusion” isn’t just rocking the “trans” boat, he’s sinking it! He says his comments aren’t “disparaging” but this group has become “astonishingly vicious!”

The transgender issue is dodged by the progressive candidate in every debate in Virginia’s red-hot race for governor. Meanwhile, Dawkins declares unabashedly that he opposes gender reassignment surgeries and puberty blockers for minors. The time has come to discard moral insanity and be honest yet compassionate in stating the obvious: this is a mental health delusion as Mr. Dawkins is stating.

Fantasy or Reality?

In his book, “The War on Science,” Lawrence Krause (Dawkins’ colleague in the “New Atheism” movement) has Dawkins’ chapter “Scientific Truth Stands Above Human Feelings and Politics.” He stated that the only way to truth is by the scientific method and supremacy of science. As an evolutionist he affirms “a human cell is not some social construct but a reality and only with a male sperm and a female egg can there be reproduction and continuation of the human race.”

“There is nothing in between two genders! The genetic structure is absolutely fixed! The chance of anything else is absolutely zero and all it takes is one look at a newborn baby to determine male or female. People think uttering some magic incantation ‘I am a woman!’ turns you into one like turning a pumpkin into Cinderella’s coach is ridiculous.”

Dawkins joins J.K. Rowling who is accused of being “transphobic” for basically declaring the same binary fact. Trump stated “There are only two genders-male and female.” Conservative radio host, Dennis Prager, currently battling paralysis, says for him to ignore his state and declare he can move denies reality and is the equivalent of transgenders denying reality—it’s a “lie.”

Awakening?

We are in a culture war. Greek playwright Aeschylus said: “In a time of war the first casualty is always truth.” Joseph Goebbels, propaganda minister for Hitler said, “If you tell a lie long enough people will believe it.”

Dawkins castigates professors at universities saying they are caving to students in a “theology of woke.” Additionally, biological males don’t belong in female spaces. “This is insanity!”

Celebrating Moral Clarity

Jesus called Satan “the father of lies” (Jn. 8:44) but He came that we might have “abundant life” as contrasted with the enemy who “comes to steal, kill and destroy” (Jn. 10:10).

Dawkins is sounding an alarm! Data reveals that trans experimentation and identification among youth is plummeting. A 2025 survey among 68,000 students showed 3.6% compared with 5.2% in 2024 and % in 2022. Eric Kaufmann from the University of Buckingham reported this on Fox News.

Accept an Atheist View?

Should we pay attention to atheists who are often outspoken outliers? We must be discerning, examining everything in light of Scripture.

In the 60s atheist Madeline Murray O’Hare (“The most hated woman in America”) stopped prayer in public schools as her son, William, preached the gospel. She ended up mysteriously murdered, eventually found in a Texas wasteland.

The French philosopher Voltaire said in the future “there wouldn’t be a Bible left on earth.” After his death the American Bible Society set up their Geneva headquarters in his home!

Atheists surround us in society: Bill Maher, Keanu Reeves, Howard Stern, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. Jesus loves and died for them. Scripture says, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’” ().
