It has become apparent to all outside of the most loyal of Trump supporters, that the former president is undergoing a season of decline.

The choices he makes during this season may very well determine not only his future, but his legacy as well.

If Trump has any hope of a turnaround from his current situation, he would do well to heed the lessons taught by Israel’s first king, Saul.

Saul was chosen by God and anointed by Samuel. He was picked to carry out the will of the Lord as he led God’s people. He was to be the ultimate example of a godly man in a position of power.

Unfortunately, Saul did not live up to the calling.

Before Saul was even king, he hid from Samuel at his own coronation, putting on hold the will of the Lord.

Many within the evangelical circle believe that God chose Donald Trump as well. And there are many reasons for them to believe that. His conservative and pro-America policies were unexpected and welcome, as was the relationship he forged with Israel. Say what you will about Trump, the Bible says all authority is granted by the Lord, and to not honor the authority granted to those in leadership is to go against the Word of the Lord. It is not a far-fetched statement to say that Donald Trump may well have been the most pro-Israel president in the history of America.

When Saul was finally anointed king, there was a remainder who did not acknowledge his authority. They instead insulted him in a way that called for death. But after his victory over the Philistines, against the will of his supporters, Saul spared the lives of those who had spoken out against his kingship. What Saul may not have thought of was by speaking against his appointment, they were also speaking against God.

Upon the election of Donald Trump, not only was the left thrown into what is now known as “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (TDS), but there were splinter groups of so-called Republicans, some of whom later formed the Lincoln Project, who made it their sole purpose to destroy Donald Trump.

During Saul’s reign, he developed a lack of patience. Being king got to his head, and he believed that he was not beholden to anyone but himself. This led to his disobeying the commandment of the Lord to wait for Samuel to offer a sacrifice to the Lord. It was upon this event that the kingship was stripped from him, a man once chosen by God to lead His people. Instead of repenting and begging the Lord for forgiveness, Saul continued in his war against the Philistines.

It is a fair statement—perhaps an understatement—to say that Donald Trump also values his own advice over others. Neither Trump nor Saul were stupid men, but hubris can allow even an intelligent man to act foolishly, and even worse, disobey the Lord. Few can say what happened behind closed doors during the Trump presidency, but when his favor began to fall, Christians with discernment know that it was time to repent and get back on the path the Lord set him on.

When Saul failed to kill King Agag of the Amalekites and took for himself the spoils of their land, he finally broke the last straw of the Lord’s grace and was rejected by God. Samuel clued Saul into an important secret: the Lord desires obedience above all else. All Saul had to do was obey the Word of the Lord and his reign would have been a very different experience.

Donald Trump had a wealth of success when it came to his policies. Any objective observer will acknowledge that, but with hindsight being 20/20, few will argue that the decision to rush a vaccine and lock down the country has had ramifications that will be felt for years to come.

Nor would any objective person say that the election of 2020 was a fair one either. With Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, it was confirmed that Donald Trump was right all along: he and his supporters, along with others who questioned the Leftist narrative, were silenced by Big Tech companies on social media platforms. But the result remained the same, Donald Trump left office. Whether this was an act allowed by God, or a victory of the devil against the Lord’s chosen is open for debate. But considering how Trump has acted in the time since he left office, it can also be argued that his heart is not in the right place. His unwarranted attack on his biggest rival within the Republican party, Ron DeSantis, showed that.

Saul developed erratic behavior throughout his reign as he was tormented by spirits. This is what happens when leadership is not protected by the Lord. The rooms in his heart were taken over by the devil and only the sound of David’s anointed music could bring peace to him for a short time. As Saul was overtaken by jealousy, pride and rebellion, he suffered defeat at the hand of Israel’s enemy. It was David who was elevated over him and slew the giant, the same David that Saul would hunt down and try to kill. Saul did this out of fear and because he knew that God was with David and not with him.

As Saul’s reign began getting closer to the end he committed atrocities against the Lord, such as killing the priests of the Lord at Nob. Why? Because they gave David, chosen of the Lord, provisions. Saul would even commit a crime that the Lord considers an abomination: he consulted a medium to summon the spirit of Samuel to give him guidance. Eventually, Saul would be slain by his own sword, and become a tragic lesson for all leaders to heed.

President Donald Trump has not crossed the threshold that Saul crossed, yet. Christians should pray that he never does. Trump’s behavior has become more erratic in recent days, most recently teasing a “big announcement” that turned out to be a self-absorbed digital trading card collection. He is currently trailing both Ron DeSantis and Joe Biden in potential matchups, and his support among his strongest base, evangelical Christians, has waned since 2016. Whatever may be in his heart, perhaps bitterness from unrelenting attacks his entire presidency and a level of disrespect shown to him by his political rivals never before seen in American politics, or perhaps pride in all his accomplishments that made him a billionaire and president of the mightiest country in the history of the world, there must be a change.

If Donald Trump could find the humility to prostrate himself before the Lord and repent for whatever may be in his heart and turn back to the Lord who blessed him as president, he could forge a legacy few have achieved. He could become a great unifier, and use his powerful influence to support biblical values, ideals and candidates.

The choice is his. Christians are called to lift him up in prayer and pray that he does not suffer a spiritual fate as that of King Saul.

With the signing of the Respect for Marriage Act, the bipartisan leadership that supported it celebrated by lighting up the White House in LGBTQ Pride Colors.

This was a continuation of the celebration held in June 2015 when the White House was first awash in the rainbow colors celebrating the Supreme Court guaranteeing the constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

Now, it is enshrined in American law in the aftermath of Justice Clarence Thomas’ comments about revisiting Obergefell v. Hodges.

In public defiance of God’s design and order, the President of the United States Joe Biden hailed the passing of the law as an act of love against the hatred in the world.

“This law and the love it defends strike a blow against hate in all its forms,” Biden said. “And that’s why this law matters to every single American.”

The President then tried to paint anti-Semitism and racism in the same light as homophobia and transphobia.

“Racism, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, they’re all connected. But the antidote to hate is love.”

The ceremony was filled with government leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Schumer, whose daughter is a lesbian, praised the bill and the activists who helped America get to this point in her history.

“Thanks to the millions out there who spent years pushing for change, and thanks to the dogged work of my colleagues, my grandchild will get to live in a world that respects and honors their mothers’ marriage.”

So, what does this mean for America? Where do citizens who believe that God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman go from here?

There is only one path that America is heading down, and that is the path toward destruction.

Since the removal of prayer in schools, the Ten Commandments no longer displayed within American government facilities and the embracing of abortion, the decline of American culture and morality has been in decline for the decades since these events.

Christians are being told not to be afraid of the government coming after their churches if they decline to host a same-sex wedding. These are the same people that said allowing gay marriage would not lead to the transgender movement. Not only did it lead to just that, but the movement is more aggressive than anyone could have expected.

The same warnings are being said today about pedophilia becoming legal, and people are being called paranoid and conspiracy theorists. Yet there is already a movement growing to label pedophilia a “sexual orientation” and give it the same protection as being gay or transgender.

This strategy to normalize the brutalization of children starts with renaming it, much like the transgender movement and their “Gender-affirming care” which mutilates young boys and girls leaving them scarred for life. People are no longer called pedophiles in these circles, but “MAPS,” which stands for Minor Attracted PersonS.

These are the results of a society without a Christian influence. Sure, there are spots around the country where people love Jesus and have even had some small revivals breakout. But where is the nation-changing fire?

For revival to take place in a nation that not only allows these acts that are abominable to the Lord, but promotes them, there must be a nationwide wave of repentance. Christians must be willing to get uncomfortable and get out into the world and minister to the populace. Inaction is what got America to where she is now, imagine where Christians-in-action could take it?

But until faith is turned into action, in love, then American citizens can not only expect more of what is occurring within American society, but also worse. {eoa}

Christian leaders across the country are proclaiming the United States of America must repent or face the same judgement as ancient Israel.

No, the U.S. is not chosen in the same way as Israel, but it was chosen to serve a purpose.

The freedoms found in America mirror those found in the Lord. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty,” (NKJV).

Yet both nations turned away from that true freedom found in the presence of God. And God tried time and again to get His people’s attention by way of the prophets.

Israel went back and forth. There would be good kings, but there would also be bad kings that were instrumental in leading God’s people away from Him.

This can be said with America today as well.

There were good presidents, congressional representatives and spiritual leaders throughout U.S. history. But there were also leaders who committed such devastating harm in the past, citizens are still suffering from it today.

Where do people turn in their suffering? The false prophets of Elijah’s time turned to Baal, and God used Elijah to show the nation of Israel the folly in that. In desperate times, King David turned to his God who had sustained him throughout his trials. Even after committing a grievous sin against the Lord, David repented and turned from his wicked ways and honored the Lord God of Israel.

America has also suffered from false prophets leading people astray, but there were also leaders who took up the mantle of spiritual authority and fought a spiritual battle against the forces of darkness. For many Americans, the spiritual warrior who would soonest come to mind is the late Billy Graham, ‘America’s Pastor.’

Unfortunately, there were also times when God would send a prophet and the people would not heed their words. Jeremiah, the ‘weeping prophet,’ warned God’s people of their insincere worship and the moral shortcomings of their society. God sent so many prophets and others to warn His people until finally, after the book of Malachi, God was silent for nearly 400 years.

Now America is facing the same situation as Israel, a country that had turned from God.

The leadership in America has decided that the morality found within the Bible does not suit their modern version of morality (according to members of the Right and Left). Children are being mutilated across America, and only a small portion of the nation is addressing it. They are being injected with hormones that their bodies do not naturally produce, all in the false declaration of finding their true selves.

But that is a lie from Satan that has deceived millions across the nation.

The driving force within the nation is that the lust of the flesh determines one’s identity. What someone lusts after now becomes who they are, instead of finding their true identity and purpose within Jesus Christ and relationship with their Lord and Savior.

As more Americans have become “non-religious” than ever before, Christians must ask themselves this question: How are they going to fight back in this spiritual war over the soul of America?

The warnings are here and they are not hidden. Drug use, LGBTQ-driven agendas and ideologies taking root, a failing school system, economic turmoil, food insecurities rising and a government that not only prosecutes Christians for their faith but promotes biblically immoral activity across the world. They are driven by spiritual forces that want to steal away America in the same fashion as the Garden of Eden. To corrupt that which God has created and replace it with a spiritually sick and twisted aberration of what it was meant to be. But just as in the Garden, humans have a choice about what to do.

These powerful, anti-God principalities won’t just go away with a little prayer thrown out on a Sunday morning. It takes intercession, fasting and repentance to recover America, but who is willing to do that across the nation?

The Word of God is the source of this strategy against the devil and his minions. Not politicians, athletes or celebrities. Jesus says only with fasting will spirits of this kind be driven out (Matt. 17:20-21).

So where is the Christian body that takes God’s Word seriously enough to carry out the commands within it? God is warning America, now, today, that if things do not change, the same fate will occur for this nation founded on Judeo-Christian principles as befell His beloved Israel.

Christians across the globe must take what the Bible says seriously and turn to it in times of need. True repentance can open the heart and allow God’s fire that is prayed for so desperately to move across the land. But believers must first put their faith into action (James 2:18)!

Because the enemy is mobilizing and putting its faith into action. Satan has already convinced a growing segment of America that when a tragedy occurs, “hopes and prayers” are useless. And what could be further from the truth than prayers being worthless?

But without action, without spiritual warfare, intercession, fasting and the love of Christ, what is to stop Satan from stealing America, too?

Paul lays out a brilliant strategy to fight the principalities and rulers of darkness in his letter to the church in Thessalonica. “Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you,” (1 Thess. 5:16-18).

The trumpets are sounding for America—will believers hear them and humble themselves before the Lord in repentance? Or will America continue her slide into an immoral society that rejects the Almighty God and His Word?
