Truth or Spiritual Abuse? Touch Not Mine Anointed and Do My Prophets No Harm

“Do not touch my anointed ones, and do no harm to my prophets” (Ps. 105:15). You’ve heard this Scripture bandied about by many in the body of Christ. Unfortunately, since the restoration of the prophetic movement we’ve seen this verse misused and abused as a weapon to bring fear of man on the saints.

Again in 1 Chronicles 16:22, we read: “Do not touch My anointed, And do My prophets no harm.” God saw to it that this principle was repeated in Scripture. We can’t gloss over this as it is the sure Word of God. So how do we rightly divide the word of truth?

Prophetic Insight: Burning the Bridges to Your Past

When I was a small child, my grandmother used to read me Bible stories—and not from books with large letters and colorful cartoons. I’m talking about King James Version stories from her tear-stained, oversized, white leather-bound Bible.

As I was so young, the only passage I clearly remember was about Lot’s wife. Considering Jesus instructed us in Luke 17:32 to “remember Lot’s wife” in the end times, I am grateful for the early impression on my soul. Indeed, Lot’s wife turning into a pillar of salt as she looked back on Sodom and Gomorrah engulfed in flames has burned in my mind for decades now.

The Holy Spirit reminds me of this verse at key times when I need to burn the bridges to my past or risk paralyzing my soul with thoughts and memories of things from which the Lord has clearly called me out. There’s a saying in the world that urges, “Don’t burn your bridges.” But sometimes we need to burn them with a passion to follow God into a new thing unhindered.

Watch this teaching video to learn more about why it’s important to burn some bridges and how to do it! Watch it here:

Will Prophets Displace Psychics on Mainstream Media Channels?

“While we have come a long way in both the raising up of many people who prophesy, it is still difficult today to find what can be called the prophets to the nation.”

So says Cindy Jacobs, and I agree with her.

Many people ask me who are the prophetic voices in nations where I travel, and few can seem to name them. It seems prophets often are without honor in their own cities and nations. I am sure there are prophetic voices in every nation, but they are being overlooked.

Some of those prophets have the opportunity to trumpet their voice to the nations at the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders this November. Dr. Peter Wagner launched this group in 1999 and handed it off to Cindy some years ago.

The ACPE was largely Americanized until now. At last year’s council, James Goll prophesied about an international gathering of prophets and we’ll see that convene this November in Dallas. It’s called the Global Prophetic Summit.

“This is the first of its kind. It will be a watershed moment for the prophetic movement worldwide,” Cindy says. “This hinge-of-history moment will open the door for prophetic revelation on a level that has not been known in a collective way.”

As one who has trumpeted purity and progress in the prophetic movement, I see this as more than strategic. I see this as pivotal for the advancement of kingdom-minded prophets who are more interested in the voice of the Lord going forth to shift nations than a personal platform. I see this as an opportunity for tactical networking among prophetic people who may otherwise never meet. I see this as a prime time for warfare intercession over the destiny of nations.

As I prepare to enter the ACPE for the first time and share the words the Lord gave me for 2018, I expect a shift in my own spirit as I am exposed to prophetic expressions from ministers in nations around the world who are contending for a similar cause. And as prophetic voices see individual shifts, the prophetic movement at large can continue shifting into deeper revelations that defy the psychic predictors and futurists often spotlighted in the evening news.

There is coming a day when prophets sit behind the news desks as CNN, Fox and MSNBC to share what the Lord is saying, displacing psychics who have held positions on these media mountains. There is coming a showdown between the true and the false in various mountains of influence. It all starts with the true prophetic voices gathering in unity to build an international platform for the truth. Amen.

Radical Spiritual Warriors Prophesy Radical Prophetic Words

“I am raising up radical spiritual warriors who will operate in radical obedience and press past radical enemy assignments against radical breakthrough.” That’s one line from a prophetic word the Lord recently shared with my heart about radicals rising in this season of restoration.

Last week, we looked at the first characteristic of radical spiritual warriors: radical faith. The second earmark of a radical spiritual warrior is prophesying radical prophetic words. The life of David offers perhaps the most dramatic example of this principle in warfare.

The Israelite army was walking in radical fear in the presence of a radical enemy named Goliath. The Philistines considered him a champion of war. Bible historians figure Goliath could have been as tall as 10 feet—and he stood at the battle line for 40 days, provoking Israelites to send a man to fight with him in the valley (see 1 Samuel 17:1-16).

A Radical Enemy Prophesied Death Over David

When David arrived on the scene carrying provisions for his brothers at the battle line, he saw the fear-stricken Israelites cowering in the face of giant threats from a radical enemy. Saul was promising a radical reward for the man who defeated Goliath: “It will be that the man who kills him, the king will enrich him with great riches, will give him his daughter, and will make his father’s house exempt from taxes in Israel” (1 Samuel 17:25b).

Discerning the fear in the hearts of the soldiers and with his eyes on the prize, the teenaged David—a ruddy boy about half the height of Goliath—declared something radical: “Let no man’s heart fail because of him. Your servant will go and fight with this Philistine” (1 Sam. 17:32). And so he did. The radical enemy’s first tactic was prophesying fearful curses over David. Imagine the scene in 1 Samuel 17:41-44:

The Philistine came walking and drew near to David, and the man bearing the shield went before him. When the Philistine looked and saw David, he despised him. For he was a youth and ruddy with a handsome appearance. The Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” Then the Philistine cursed David by his gods. The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the heavens and to the beasts of the field.”

David Prophesied Radical Words Over Goliath

David could have taken Goliath’s words to heart—but he chose to flip the script. He got God’s heart on the matter and prophesied some radical words back to his radical enemy in 1 Samuel 17:45-47:

David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a shield, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have reviled. This day will the Lord deliver you into my hand. And I will strike you down and cut off your head. Then I will give the corpses of the Philistine camp this day to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And then all this assembly will know that it is not by sword and spear that the Lord saves. For the battle belongs to the Lord, and He will give you into our hands.

And so it was. David struck the Philistine with one stone from his sling, then cut off his head. David’s radical prophesy manifested almost immediately.

Prophesying Radical Words to Your Enemies

So, how do you prophesy radical words over your spiritual enemies? Take a page from David’s playbook. David turned Goliath’s false prophesy and word curses around.

1 Samuel 17:44: “The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the heavens and to the beasts of the field.” David prophesied back, “I will strike you down and cut off your head. Then I will give the corpses of the Philistine camp this day to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

Many times, you can determine what the Lord wants to do in your life by the vain imaginations and accusations coming against your mind. When the enemy whispers to your mind or screams at your soul, speak the opposite of what the enemy is saying to you. Prophesy God’s will over your life. The true prophetic word always trumps the false prophetic word—when you release it.

You don’t need a “prophetic word” to prophesy God’s will—His will for your life is in His Word. Prophesy what God’s Word says about you and what belongs to you. You will prevail! {eoa}

7 Earmarks of a Radical Spiritual Warrior: Part 1

“I am raising up radical spiritual warriors who will operate in radical obedience and press past radical enemy assignments against radical breakthrough.” That’s one line from prophetic word the Lord recently shared with my heart.

Your enemy is radical. He goes to extreme measures to fulfill his part of John 10:10, to steal, kill and destroy. As Matthew 11:12 (NKJV) says, “The kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force.” The devil has forces his way into your circumstances. Radical warriors force him out, in the name of Jesus!

It’s time to get radical. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share 7 earmarks of radical spiritual warriors. The first earmark is a radical faith mindset.

Do You See Through the Eyes of Faith or Fear?

When Moses was leading Israel, he sent spies into the Promised Land to scope it out. Numbers 13:26-29 recounts the scene:

And they returned and came to Moses and to Aaron and to all the assembly of the children of Israel, to the Wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh, and brought back word to them and to the entire assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. They reported to him and said, “We came to the land where you sent us, and surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is the fruit of it. However, the people are strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are fortified and very great, and also we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negev, and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and by the edge of the Jordan.

Now, that’s a radical fear mindset! Joshua and Caleb, by contrast, demonstrated a radical faith mindset in Verse 30: “Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, ‘Let us go up at once and possess it, for we are able to overcome it.'”

In Verse 31-33, we see a wrestling match between faith and fear.

But the men that went up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people because they are stronger than we.” They gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come from the giants, and in our eyes we were like grasshoppers, and so we were in their eyes.”

Fear Wants You to Abort God’s Promises

The 10 spies testified that the promised land was just as God had said. It was a land flowing with milk and honey—with provision. All they had to do was dispossess the former occupants and take up residence. But fear caused them to see themselves as unable. The Bible says they refused to enter the promised land. They were well able, but they refused.

Joshua and Caleb tried to reason with their brothers in Numbers 14:9: “Do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land because they are bread for us. Their defense is gone from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”

Joshua and Caleb were radical. God said of Caleb he had a different spirit. He had a spirit of radical faith—and so do you. God has given you a measure of faith. Technically, you have all the faith you need right now to blast fear out of your way and obtain your promise. Many times, though, weariness from walking in the wilderness sets in and our faith grows weak.

Developing a Radical Faith Mindset

We need to intentionally develop radical faith by radical consumption of the Word of God. The Bible clearly says “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17).

Too many believers are on a Word diet or a Word fast when they need to feast on the Word and fast a few meals, fast some TV, fast some gossip. When I walk through battles against God’s promises in my life, I feed my spirit with the Word of God in any form I can find. I find specific verses, specific teachings and specific worship music that inspires faith in my heart.

Pray this prayer: Lord, I repent of seeing through the eyes of fear when you’ve given me the measure of faith. Forgive me for allowing the enemy to force is way into my life with his fear, unbelief and doubt. Father, help me to rise up with the measure of faith you’ve given me—that faith that moves mountains—and take the land you have allotted for me, in Jesus’ name!

A Spiritual Warfare Battle Plan for Victory

Before you set out to battle, you need a battle plan. It starts with understanding your enemy, understanding your God and understanding who you are in Him.

We must understand out enemy. Paul admonished us not to be ignorant of the devil’s devices (2 Cor. 2:11). I’ve learned a lot about the enemy in my exploits. I share about it in my new book, The Spiritual Warfare Battle Plan: Unmasking 15 Harassing Spirits That Want to Destroy Your Life.

In this teaching, I share with you some things I’ve learned about the enemy that helped me fight my way into victory.

What You Need to Know to Walk in Victorious Spiritual Warfare

If you are fighting the good fight of faith but don’t seem to be winning, this will help you.

We are soldiers in the army of God. We’re fighting the battle of the Lord—and we’re guaranteed victory.

Sometimes, though, we don’t seem to be winning the battle.

I’ve been through plenty of wars. I’ve gotten knocked down a few times. I’ve learned a great many lessons. And I have posted even more victories.

Beware: Wicked Witchcraft Season Now Raging Against Believers

To everything there is a season—and this is the season where witchcraft gets heavy, demonic imaginations target minds and infirmities inflict bodies.

Of course, Jezebel and her witchcrafts can creep onto the scene any time of the year. But every single October for as far back as I can remember, I see an onslaught of spiritual attacks from every direction. It’s like clockwork.

What is witchcraft? Merriam-Webster defines witchcraft as the use of magical powers obtained especially from evil spirits; the use of sorcery or magic; communication with the devil or the familiar. You might think of the Voodoo priests or the witch doctors, but as I’ve said before even Christians can release witchcraft at you with their thoughts and words.

Witchcraft can be in the spiritual atmosphere due to demonic activity from those practicing its various expressions—but witchcraft can also be released directly at you as a spiritual attack. During this time of year, we see a celebration of darkness and evil. You can’t walk into a retail store without seeing vampires, witches, ghouls and goblins.

All of this fascination and agreement with rulers of the darkness of this age impacts the spiritual climate in our cities and over our lives. You may wind up feeling sick and tired for no reason. You may have raging imaginations against your soul. You may feel like giving up. You may be touchy or find that people are easily offended at you.

Please, pay close attention and remember that we aren’t warring against flesh and blood, and the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. This is a spiritual battle against a spiritual foe that must bow to our spiritual weapons.

  1. Gird the loins of your mind. The first step in any battle is to gird up the loins of your mind. 1 Peter 1:13 says, “Therefore guard your minds, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

The battle really is in the mind—or at least it starts there. Last week, a friend of mine who had a stroke many years ago began manifesting with post-stroke symptoms out of the blue. The enemy was working on his mind, trying to convince him that what he had been delivered from was returning. Meanwhile, a lump manifested on the back of my neck that itched and burned like fire, followed a few days later by ear pain so bad that I could hardly think, the feeling of knives in my throat when I swallowed and rocks in my stomach all at once. I finally broke down and went to the doctor. My vitals were normal. No sign of infection. I am convinced every bit of it was witchcraft.

  1. Guard your heart. The Amplified version (Classic Edition) of 1 Peter 1:13 says, “brace up your minds; be sober (circumspect, morally alert).” Jezebel and her witchcrafts work to draw you into sin. When you are under heavy attack, your soul gets weary. Jesus can offer rest to your soul, but Jezebel wants to provide you a different way of escape through sin. Jezebel works to seduce you into idolatry or immorality (see Rev. 2:20). When you feel like you are getting hit from every side, guard your heart.

The Preacher said, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil” (Prov. 4:23-27, NKJV). Don’t run into temptation when you are under attack; run for cover—run to Jesus.

  1. Cast down imaginations. Imaginations don’t always work to push sickness on you or tempt you to sin. Sometimes the devil just wants to overwhelm you with witchcraft imaginations so you’ll give up and go hide in a cave with a bag of potato chips, a bowl of ice cream, a big pillow and the TV remote control. If the Holy Spirit dwells in you, then so does the fruit of self-control. You can choose by your will to “cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5, MEV).

But it’s up to you. Nobody can cast down those scary, hurtful or otherwise wrong thoughts for you—and nobody can replace them with “whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report” (Phil. 4:8b).

  1. Cast your cares on the Lord. I’m not saying you don’t have legitimate problems or concerns. I know all about legitimate problems and concerns. But mature spiritual warriors understand the balance between taking responsibility and casting your cares on the Lord (see 1 Pet. 5:7; Ps. 55:22).

Witchcraft imaginations totally skew your perspective—making monumental issues out of something God could fix with a wink. Cast your care on the Lord. Keep your eyes on Him. Pray for what you think you need—then believe He’s got your back. When you do, He promises to care for you and give you perfect peace (see Isa. 26:3).

  1. Speak the Word, use the name and invoke the blood. You have three powerful weapons at your disposal—spiritual weapons that are mighty through God to pull down strongholds. It’s hard to effectively wield those weapons when you are wallowing in condemnation, self-pity, fear or some other harmful emotion.

Snap out of it! Get the Word of God in your mouth because it’s your spiritual sword (Heb. 4:12). Speak the Word to your problems because the Word of God always accomplishes its purpose (Isa. 55:11). Bind the enemy’s operations in the name of Jesus, and loose the opposite of what’s manifesting in your life with the power of life that’s in your tongue. And plead the blood of Jesus over your mind (Rev. 12:11). You’ve been bought with a price—spirit, soul and body. Your soul includes your mind.

Will the Esthers and Deborahs Please Rise Up?

Jehovah Nissi deployed both Esther and Deborah to demolish the enemy’s plans to kill, steal and destroy His people at strategic times in the nation’s history.

Esther stood in prayer and fasting that I believe unleased the heavenly host to execute God’s will in the earth. Deborah ran to the battle line with a natural army that saw enemy plots quashed. Both women displayed faith and works and saw life spring forth where the enemy planned to bring death and destruction.

Now, once again the Lord is calling women to the frontlines to combat the wicked forces working to push Jesus out of the public square, take the next generation captive to deception and otherwise stall a third Great Awakening.

As the 30-day fast leading to the culmination of the historic Rise Up prayer gathering in Washington, D.C., in October, the enemy is raging against the land. But the Jehovah Nissi—which is the name Moses gave to God at the altar he built after the Israelites defeated the Amalekites at Rephidim—has bowed His ear and is delighting in the prayers of modern-day Esthers and Deborahs.

In this season, if we wax militant in intercession like Deborah I believe we will see a great outpouring of salvations, healings and many miracle manifestations. As we fast like Esther—as we decrease so He can increase—we will fuel new prayer strategies and battle tactics that will not only stop the enemy but pave the way for the oppressed to release their collective voice and see lives and cities transformed.

As I’ve said before, now is not the time to pull back. Now is the time to press in harder than ever before as we stand on the precipice of what could be the greatest move of God we’ve ever seen.

On April 21, 2007, the Lord woke me up at midnight and I sensed Him offering this prophetic word:

There is a great awakening coming to this nation. For I have heard your cries, and I long to heal your land. I am a covenant God, and I will not forget the covenant I made with your Founding Forefathers. Yes, there will be a shaking, but the foundations will not crack and they will not crumble. Only those things which can be shaken will be shaken that the sin in the land may be laid bare.

Repentance. I require repentance from My people who have through the generations allowed the enemy to take ground in this nation. I require repentance for the abortions and for the prayerlessness. I require repentance for the apathy and for the idolatry. You shall have no other gods before me. I am indeed the God of America.

Yes, there is a great awakening coming to this nation. I am the Author of it and I will bring it to pass. Just turn from your wicked ways and humble yourselves. Stand in the gap and make up the hedge. I am the Lord, and I am a warrior. I will not leave or forsake this country. I will fight through you and with you to regain what has been lost.

Be encouraged now because as you go forth boldly with My Word and My Spirit there will be the sound of truth and it will prevail in the land. Speak boldly and clearly and watch as the mighty men arise to take their positions on the wall and in the churches and in the marketplaces. For I am raising up deliverers and reformers in this generation who will not shrink back at the challenge that is coming in the days ahead.

Yes, it will grow darker before My light shines brightly from this nation again. But the light has not been extinguished and will not be extinguished. The time to rise up is now. I am calling you to war. I am calling you to repentance. I am calling you to My side. I am the captain of the hosts. I am calling you to victory. I am calling you to destiny. Will you answer?

I am believing over 1 million voices will collectively cry out with new power, new passion and new purpose in Washington, D.C. I believe this rising up will release a roar hear round the world that will ripple through the nations.

A Prophetic Prayer That Overcomes Satanic Attacks

Many people in the body of Christ are under massive spiritual attack right now, from financial hits to relational failures to health issues.

It’s time to fight back. In this Mornings With the Holy Spirit prayer call, we sent the wicked one wandering off with his tail between his legs.

Touch and agree and make the devil flee!
