Former UN Official Sued for Targeting US Christian Firms that Support Israel

The United Nations’ dogged pursuit of a Palestinian state, despite the ongoing aftermath of the brutal October 7th Hamas massacre and kidnappings of Israelis, has left no doubt about the anti-Israel sentiments of the world body.

More evidence is seen in the efforts of UN officials, both past and present, who work against Israel behind the scenes. One recent case involves an attempt to disrupt the support and friendship offered by evangelical organizations to the state of Israel.

Eugene Kontorovich from the Heritage Foundation specializes in constitutional and international law, particularly when it comes to anti-Israel moves at the United Nations. He spoke with CBN News Middle East Bureau Chief Chris Mitchell about one unique effort to push back against the anti-Israel agenda.

KONTOROVICH: Francesca Albanese is a woman who worked for the United Nations. She had a position as one of the United Nations kind of professional Israel bashers, the special rapporteur for Palestine. And she has been essentially a Hamas supporter, justifying Hamas’ attacks and making vicious blood libels against the Jewish state. But now she’s gone further and she started defaming American companies and American NGOs, American organizations, accusing them of genocide for merely being involved with the state of Israel. Now that’s legally baseless, but it’s also defamatory.

Our clients are two Christian charities who have a faith-based mission of helping the Jewish people in the Holy Land. For that work, she accused them of being accessories to genocide, threatened them with a whole bunch of scary consequences, including criminal prosecutions. And that is defamation. And for that, you can be sued in the United States. And we are helping them, in fact, sue her.

Now, she is not actually a United Nations official anymore because she was reappointed to her position in a manner that has been deemed improper. And the United States, this is the most amazing part, sanctioned her a few weeks ago for working with the International Criminal Court against Israel. So she has been sanctioned by the United States. Her property is frozen in the United States. She can’t travel to the United States. But at the same time, our clients want justice and want restitution for the harm they’ve suffered from her.

Clock Ticking on Gaza Peace Proposal as Israel Prepares for Yom Kippur

Two days after President Trump unveiled his plan to end the war in Gaza, officials in Washington, Jerusalem, and Doha are weighing next steps. Time is running out for Hamas to agree to the proposal and end the war and release all the hostages.

President Trump told reporters that Hamas has only a few days to accept or reject the plan.

“We’re going to do about three or four days. We’ll see how it is. All of the Arab countries are signed up. The Muslim countries all signed up, Israel’s all signed up. We’re just waiting for Hamas. And Hamas is either going to be doing it or not. And if it’s not, it’s going to a very sad end.”

He added that there is little room left for further negotiations.

“Not much. You know, with Hamas, we want very simple. We want the hostages back immediately. And we want some good behavior. And, you know, it’s pretty simple. You don’t get simpler. Think of it. We’ve signed every country in the Middle East. This is like an impossible thing. It’s never been done before. This is more than Gaza. Gaza was big stuff. But this is Gaza, is a piece of it!”

US Government Shutdown After Senate Dems Block Funding Measure

A last-ditch effort to pass a short-term federal funding measure failed in the Senate last night. At the center of the standoff: deep cuts in Medicaid and safeguards on the president’s power to cut future spending.

The ongoing push to prevent the government shutdown fell short in the Senate after the House had approved a temporary funding patch. It had been tied to the president’s spending bill that cut nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid over the next decade – a sticking point for Democrats.

“This truly is a Democrat-owned shutdown – a Chuck Schumer-owned shutdown,” said Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY). “There is no negotiation, it’s a shakedown when you ask for a trillion dollars for four weeks. It’s absurd.”

Republicans needed eight Senate Democrats to cross over to their side, but only three did.

“I tell you; we have $17 trillion being invested, the last person who wants it shut down is us,” President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Tuesday.

It’s the first shutdown since 2018 during the president’s first term, which was the longest in 40 years. While the president says he doesn’t want a shutdown, he suggests he can use it to make even more cuts that Democrats oppose.

14,000 Seek God, Hundreds Turn to Jesus at Franklin Graham’s ‘Festival of Hope’

Evangelist Franklin Graham shared the life-changing message of the Gospel with more than 14,000 people during the Festival of Hope in Brussels, Belgium, over the weekend.

Thousands gathered at Brussels’ ING arena to hear a message of hope and to worship Jesus Christ.

“I want you to know that God loves you and that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, from heaven to this earth to take your sins. This is why Jesus Christ came. He didn’t come to condemn us, He came to save us. Jesus Christ came for all, but you’ve got to come to Him in faith,” Graham told the crowd.

After Graham’s message, he invited attendees to put their faith in Jesus, leading many to respond, according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA).

One of them— 23-year-old Maria—had traveled to Brussels from Ghent. She had been to church many times before, but said she didn’t have a personal relationship with God.

“I had [this] thought in my head that He would not forgive me at all because of my sin,” Maria told BGEA with tears streaming down her face. She said she finally found the reassurance and hope that she had been looking for: “I want people to see that God is in me.”

Thousands, like Maria, attended the Festival of Hope in anticipation of having their lives changed eternally.

“As soon as the doors opened, people began pouring in,” BGEA reported in a press release.

“The crowd was a mix of Christians and unbelievers—some of whom had never been to church before—but they came to hear a message of hope,” the report continues, adding that the arena was packed.

Once the ING arena was filled, another 5,000 people were seated in two overflow areas next to the venue, where the event was live-streamed.

While ABS hasn’t conducted new research after Kirk’s death, the organization’s recent research and reports from various churches across the U.S. indicate that houses of worship are seeing even more people come to faith.

Many believe that the horrific assassination of Kirk has accelerated spiritual resurgence.

“I think what we’re seeing is just the latest very tragic example of the fact that disruptions lead people to question the way they’re living their lives day to day,” Plake said. “And we’ve looked at this for many years. We’ve been talking about the movable middle. These are people who are kind of Bible test drivers. They think the Bible is a good idea, they may not interact with it a lot on their own, they may be kind of confused by it or feel stopped from interacting with Scripture.”

UniteUS in Tampa Sees Former Satan Worshipper Baptized, 1,000+ Choose Jesus as Lord

The Spirit of God is moving once again in the hearts of thousands of college students, this time at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Nearly 7,000 young people filled the Yuengling Center to worship Jesus on Thursday night, while hundreds publicly declared their faith at the UniteUS campus event, according to the ministry.

Leaders reported to CBN News that the event saw over 1,000 decisions for Christ and more than 300 water baptisms.

As CBN News has reported, the organization traces its origins to an event that kicked off at Auburn University’s Neville Arena in September 2023. Five thousand students showed up to worship Jesus, and 200 were spontaneously baptized in a nearby lake.

“When God gave me the vision for Unite Auburn, I could have never imagined what was coming,” UniteUS founder and evangelist Tonya Prewett told CBN News.

‘A Hurricane of Grace’: Nearly 700 Baptized at Texas Church During Sunday Service

A Texas church is celebrating how “God is changing lives in miraculous ways,” after nearly 700 people were baptized and hundreds more responded to the Gospel message during a powerful Sunday service.

Josh Howerton, senior pastor at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, Texas, recently reflected on what took place during a September 21 service where hundreds of people showed up to hear the Word of God.

“Never seen anything like today. Stairs filled with people with Bibles on their laps bc seats were full,” he wrote on Facebook. “Almost SEVEN HUNDRED PEOPLE baptized this weekend at Lakepointe. Hundreds responding on the spot. The tide is turning.”

Others chimed in on the post about the experience.

“Sitting on the steps of the sanctuary today and worshipping with my people was one of the best things ever. So incredibly powerful,” Facebook user Mandy Hesker recounted.

“Praise Jesus!! Today, was incredible!! I cheered with tears in my eyes watching everyone get baptized,” another person commented.

During Sunday’s service, Howerton explained that more than 500 people signed up to participate in the multi-campus baptismal event.

But nearly 100 more made their way to the baptismal pools.

In an Instagram post, Lakepointe Church shared images from Sunday’s baptism, writing, “Caught in a hurricane of grace! This weekend, 682 people were baptized across Lakepointe Church! Every number has a name. Every name has a story. And there is always room for ONE MORE to find freedom in Christ. God is changing lives in miraculous ways.”

Former FBI Director James Comey is scheduled to appear in court today after a grand jury indicted him on one count of making a false statement within the jurisdiction of Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding.

President Donald Trump indicated that he had good talks with top Middle East leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, about the war in Gaza.

Trump stated, “And we’re trying to get to the end of the Gaza situation. It’s really bad, very bad. And we think it could happen. Maybe it could happen pretty soon. We want the hostages back. We want their bodies back. And we want to have peace in that region.”

But he also said there is one thing that isn’t on the table: Israel’s annexation of biblical Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank.

“I will, I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. Nope, I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen,” Trump declared on Thursday.

Netanyahu’s government has been talking about annexing Judea and Samaria in response to multiple nations recognizing a Palestinian state. More than 700,000 Israelis live in Jewish communities there, as well as 3.3 million Palestinians who live in their own cities and villages.

Trump has said the U.K., France, and other countries are giving a prize to Hamas and terrorists by recognizing a Palestinian state.
