‘A Miracle’: Bible Lost in Hurricane Found 21 Years Later

A Bible that was lost for more than 20 years in the aftermath of a hurricane is being reunited with its owner after being discovered by a Pennsylvania firefighter.

In a Facebook post, the Oakdale Hose Company recently shared a “strange” account that took place in their firehouse earlier this month.

A firefighter was checking his bunker gear and found a small, faded army-green change purse with a gold zipper in his jacket pocket. He shared his findings with the fire chief, saying, “I don’t know how this got into my gear, but it’s not mine.”

“We go through our pockets and our gear regularly to make sure we have everything, and he just came walking over and he said, ‘Hey, this doesn’t belong to me, I have no idea how it got in my coat,'” Fire Chief Jim Snatchko told CBS News.

Snatchko opened the purse, hoping to find some ID or something to identify its owner.

“It turned out to be a small pocket Bible with an inscription inside,” the Facebook post described.

The Chief took the Bible home in hopes that he and his wife would be able to locate the owner, and they were successful.

After searching the internet, they found former Oakdale resident Amanda Cloutz. She was able to describe the Bible in detail to the couple over the phone.

Its inscription, reading, “The Boys Industrial Home of Western Pennsylvania,” was unique. It was the home that her uncle was adopted from, Cloutz told the couple, adding that he gifted the pocket Bible to her when she needed it most.

“To our shock, the last time Amanda saw this was in 2004 after she lost her home in the flood of Hurricane Ivan. It is undamaged, the inscription is in perfect condition, no rust on the zipper, no stains on the outside,” the fire company wrote in a Facebook post.

The hurricane devastated the Pittsburgh area and most of Cloutz’s possessions more than 20 years ago, and she told CBS News that the find is a “miracle.”

New Fears of Iran-Israel Clash as Tehran Ramps Up Missiles

Israel and Iran are reportedly preparing for another war, although some analysts say it may not happen immediately. At the same time, the situation in Gaza appears frozen, with little progress on the ceasefire agreement and rising tensions in other Palestinian areas of the West Bank.

Iran publicly displayed its ballistic missiles and drones for the first time since the June war with Israel. A report in the New York Times stated it is “only a matter of time” until the next Israel-Iran confrontation.

Ali Vaez, Iran Project Director at the International Crisis Group, told the New York Times that Iranian officials say their missile factories are operating around the clock because they hope to launch 2,000 missiles at once “to overwhelm Israeli defenses, rather than 500 over 12 days” as they did in June.

Vaez said both sides believe another conflict is inevitable, and that Iran is “doubling down on preparedness… to produce a new equilibrium that will wipe out the sense of Iranian weakness.”

Experts also say it is unclear whether Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile survived the war. Iran claims it is buried under rubble, but Israel believes the stockpile, which is large enough to build 11 nuclear weapons, has been whisked away to safekeeping.

This as talk that Gaza might remain divided at the yellow line, with one part controlled by Israel and another controlled by Hamas, after President Trump’s ceasefire agreement appears to have stalled.

According to the Times of Israel, six European officials say the next phase of the plan is on hold and that reconstruction would take place only in the Israeli-controlled area, potentially leaving the territory split for years.

The President declared, “So with my signature, the federal government will now resume normal operations, and my administration and our partners in Congress will continue our work to lower the cost of living, restore public safety, grow our economy, and make America affordable again.”

Partisan divisions fueled the longest government shutdown in America’s history, causing a lot of pain for the American people. Federal workers went without paychecks, some had to stand in long lines to get food.

It also disrupted Supplemental Nutritional Aid (SNAP) for more than 40 million people and forced a reduction in air travel, stranding thousands of passengers. The President blamed the majority of Democrats.

“Republicans never wanted a shutdown and voted 15 times for a clean continuation of funding. I want to also thank the eight Senate Democrats who finally did the right thing in voting to end this craziness, this madness,” Trump said.

Christians Flocking to Nashville from Hollywood and All Over America for ‘Faith, Family and Freedom’

Nashville, Tennessee, is known as the home of country music, but in recent years, it has become just as popular with Christians and Christian ministries.

Kelsey Cooke and Chris Guerra were both born and raised in California. They fell in love on stage while pursuing their acting careers, got married and never dreamed they’d one day leave Hollywood.

“So, I was one of the artistic directors at the Groundlings Theater in Hollywood. That’s where Will Ferrell started, Christian Wig, all those things. Kelsey has a ton of improv and sketch background also, but I will say it was kind of a toxic environment,” Guerra recalled.

During the Pandemic, when everything shut down, they visited a friend in Franklin, a popular suburb outside of Nashville. Even as Christians, they couldn’t believe what happened.

“We had people praying over us in downtown Franklin. Literally, we were walking in downtown Franklin, going into a shop, and just the owner going, ‘Hey, I need to pray for you guys right now.’ We don’t even know who she is, and she was like, ‘Lord, whatever they’re going through, they have big decisions to make.’ We just were like, what is happening? What is going on? We were just along for the ride,” they recalled.

After trying to make it work in both L.A. and Franklin, they decided to put both feet in Tennessee. They started Oddity Improv, a clean comedy theater and training center at the Franklin theater.

They even opened recently for one of the hottest Christian comics on the planet, Nate Bargatze.

“We have worked more than ever in our industry here than we ever did in L.A., and I’ve had an agent since I was seven years old,” Cooke said.

“We pray before shows, which is unheard of. You wouldn’t do that in L.A.,” Guerra added. “People wanted to rub crystals on me in LA and they’re like, is this, okay? But if I pray over this group, it’s not okay. But the crystals are okay. Anyway, so yeah, it’s Oddity Improv. We used to call it ‘cleanish comedy,’ we thought, oh, we need to appeal to both sides. And then we had enough people go, ‘Well, why don’t you just call it clean comedy again?’ Both feet in, both feet in,” Guerra said.

Long-time Nashville realtor Kellie Seboa with eXp Realty told CBN News the trend of more Christians and Christian ministries feeling called to Nashville and the surrounding areas is real.

“I heard, I think it was Kirk Cameron the other day, he said three things I thought were real important for people to consider anywhere a conservative state is faith, family, and freedom. And I said, Wow, that’s really the theme of a lot of transfers here,” Seboa said.

According to recent census data, more than 130,000 new residents have moved to the Nashville area since 2020, bringing the total greater metro population to over 2 million. In 2024, the region grew by 6.4% compared to the U.S. growth rate of about 3%. And although international migration plays a part, most are moving here from other states.

Hundreds Accept Christ as 6,000 Worship Jesus at NC State: ‘All Glory to God’

The student revival movement sweeping college campuses in America continues to see a generation changed by the love of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. The UniteUS tour hit the North Carolina State campus during its latest stop on its mission to share the Gospel with Gen Z across the country.

Last night, about 6,000 people came out to J.S. Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC, to worship and hear the word, with hundreds responding to the call to salvation and 77 making a public declaration of their newfound commitment to Jesus Christ by getting baptized.

“What a night at NC State!! We continue to see new miraculous moves of God on each college campus. Last night, thousands of students gave their lives to Jesus!! All glory to God,” wrote UniteUS founder and organizer Tonya Prewett on Instagram.

UniteUS is a “movement of college students united to lift the name of Jesus,” according to its website, and it is widely recognized for its stadium gatherings where students worship, get saved, and are water baptized.

CBN News has followed the ministry’s outreach since the start of its outreach more than two years ago.

Prewett, pastor Jonathan Pokluda, and the founder of the IF:Gathering, Jennie Allen, have traveled to college campuses across the country to meet students desperate for a relationship with God at UniteUs events.

“It was glorious! Go God and thank you @tonyaprew for your yes,” Allen wrote about Tuesday night’s outreach.

The hunger for God’s Spirit to touch and change lives is evident. Prewett told CBN News last semester that the students are the ones putting in the work to reach their community.

“The students reach out to us, and I work with a student team to put on the event,” she said. “They do all the local work. It’s beautiful.”

UniteUS reached students on the campus of the University of Cincinnati last week. According to the organization, 5,500 young people attended that event, thousands of them rededicated their lives or made first-time decisions for salvation, and 2,000 students were connected to local churches and ministries.

In an effort to maintain the ceasefire, the U.S. is reportedly planning to build a $500 million military facility along the Gaza-Israel border. Currently, the U.S. military presence is rather slim, with around 200 American soldiers.

UN Terror Network Exposed: 10-Year Investigation Finds 500 Employees ‘Involved in Terrorism’

A 10-year investigation has uncovered the truth about terrorist infiltration and indoctrination within UNRWA. UN Watch discovered that 500 employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees were “involved in terrorism, incitement, and membership in extremist organizations.”

This week’s “Global Lane” commentary contends that it’s time for the U.S. government to permanently freeze the $400 million annually given to the UN agency, “which has been used by terrorists to spread antisemitism and violence.” Can UNRWA be dissolved and replaced with “something better, free from corruption and hate”?

On Oct. 24, 2025, during a press conference in Israel, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, UNRWA, has become a subsidiary of Hamas. He emphasized that the terrorist organization should not play any role in governing Gaza’s future.

In response to Rubio’s remarks, the Swiss monitoring group UN Watch recently released a map claiming to expose the systemic infiltration of UNRWA by terrorist organizations, most notably Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. UN Watch asserts that it conducted 10 years of research, discovering that nearly 500 UNRWA employees were involved in terrorism, incitement, and membership in extremist organizations. The group is calling on the United States to “take definitive action to dismantle UNRWA.”

UNRWA has responded to these allegations by denying any systemic infiltration and emphasizing that its over 30,000 staff members overwhelmingly adhere to UN neutrality principles.

But one year ago, Israel passed a law banning UNRWA’s operations with Palestinians, thereby ending its cooperation with the agency, which had begun in June 1967. That was the right move.

This Veterans Day, Give Honor to Whom Honor Is Due

Anytime is a good time to pay respect and give honor to whom it is due, as we are reminded in Romans 13:7: (RSV) “Pay all of them their dues…respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.” And Veteran’s Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11, is the perfect time to pay honor to our military veterans to whom we owe the defense of our U.S. Constitution and the preservation of our cherished liberties.

Is there a veteran in your life? No doubt, at least one veteran has impacted your life. He or she could be your grandparent or parent, your neighbor, a fellow church member, a teacher, a local official or any citizen filling a role of service to the community long after their time in uniform was over.

You might have awareness of that veteran’s service, whether fighting a war or keeping the peace, but perhaps you’re curious about how to honor them this Veteran’s Day. And so, I offer this suggestion: Search out the veteran in your extended family, just down the street, homeless at the assistance center, or in comfortable assisted living, and make this simple request of them…

Please tell me your story.

It’s really that simple. One of the best ways to honor them is by taking a personal interest in their life.

Over a decade ago, I made that request of an amazing man from my early Army days. He was a rare breed, and I must share his story here—to give honor where it is way overdue.

Herbert Jack Lloyd of Hope, Arkansas, entered the U.S. Army a Private in 1955 and rose to the rank of Brigadier General, retiring in 1992. That’s 37 years of uniformed service. Well beyond active duty, he served our national security in undisclosed ways and places. When I asked what he did there, he could only answer, “Well, I guess they call me a ‘spook.'”

Consider the character and combat of a man who served three tours in Vietnam. I knew him as Major Lloyd, and at that point in his career, his awards already filled his dress uniform such that his highest were hidden behind his lapel. These included two Silver Stars, the Soldier’s Medal, seven Bronze Stars (w/ “V” device), two Purple Hearts, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge (w/ three Gold Stars for combat jumps) and the coveted Ranger Tab.

‘It Wasn’t Worth It!’ 100-Year-Old WWII Vet Shocks TV Hosts on Remembrance Day

A 100-year-old Royal Navy veteran named Alec Penstone recently spoke some powerful words that left UK TV hosts speechless. He said the friends he buried in World War II gave their lives “for what?” — pointing out that today’s Britain has lost the freedom they fought for.

The clip tells you everything you need to know about how far the UK has fallen recently. Penstone went on Good Morning Britain and said something that everyone, including Americans, needs to hear.

The hosts of Good Morning Britain asked him, “What does Remembrance Sunday mean for you? What is your message?”

He replied, “My message is, I can see in my mind’s eye, there was rows and rows of white stones of all the hundreds of my friends and everybody else that gave their lives for what? The country of today. No, I’m sorry. The sacrifice wasn’t worth the result that it is now. What we fought for was our freedom. We fought for it even now. It’s a downside worse than what it was when I fought for it.”

That’s not bitterness talking. You can hear the heartbreak in his voice. This is a man who watched his friends die for a nation to promise to uphold freedoms, and now he’s wondering if that freedom even exists anymore. It’s really sad to watch and he’s not wrong to ask.

In the UK today, as we’ve reported here at CBN many times, the freedoms that he and his comrades had bled for, they’re starting to disappear.

We’ve seen Christians being arrested simply for praying silently outside abortion clinics. These are thought crimes happening, and it’s not only just a thought crime, it’s about prayer.

We’ve seen street preachers again and again, men peacefully sharing the gospel, handcuffed in public squares and hauled off and taken away. We’ve seen it again and again.

And it’s not just speech in the streets, it’s speech online. Police have literally shown up at people’s homes over things that they tweeted. One British man was arrested in the middle of the night at his home. They busted into his home and took him away because he posted an anti-Hamas meme. This is a terror organization and you’re getting arrested for posting anti-Hamas memes.

‘We Have to Make Syria Work’: Trump Welcomes Al-Sharaa; Syrian President Balks at Abraham Accords

JERUSALEM, Israel – Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa made history as the first Syrian leader to visit the White House. President Trump indicated it was a good meeting and that the former jihadi is willing to join forces to fight ISIS, advancing peace in the Middle East.

President Trump called Al-Sharaa a “tough guy” from a “tough place” and a “very strong leader.”

“I like him. I get along with him, the president, the new president in Syria,” Trump stated, “And we’ll do everything we can to make Syria successful because that’s part of the Middle East. We have peace now in the Middle East, the first time that anyone can remember that ever happening.”

Trump lifted sanctions imposed on Syria for decades after Al-Sharaa, the former Al Qaeda terrorist, toppled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad last year, ending the decades-long reign of the Assad regime.

The U.S. leader would like to see Syria become a successful nation, and he thinks al-Sharaa can do it.

“We have to make Syria work. Syria is a big part of the Middle East,” Trump said. “And I will tell you, I think it’s working really well. We’re working also with Israel on, you know, getting along with Syria, getting along with everybody. And that’s working amazingly.”

In an interview with Fox News, al-Sharaa mentioned that he doesn’t see Syria entering the Abraham Accords with Israel now because the situation in his country is different from conditions in other countries.

“Syria has borders with Israel, and Israel occupies the Golan Heights since 1967. We are not going to enter into a negotiation directly, right now. Maybe the United States administration, with President Trump, will help us reach this kind of negotiation,” the Syrian leader said.

Known in the Bible as Bashan, the Golan Heights was given to the Israelite half-tribe of Manasseh. Israel regained control of the Golan Heights in the 1967 Six-Day War. During his first term, Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Al-Sharaa and Trump discussed the future of Syria and changing how the country is viewed.

“We talked about the investment opportunities in the future in Syria, so that Syria is no longer looked at as a security threat; it is now looked at as a geopolitical ally, and it’s a place where the United States can have great investments, especially extracting gas,” al-Sharaa said.
