Pope Leo Ousts California Bishop Accused of Embezzling $250,000 Amid Brothel Allegations

A shocking scandal involving a bishop in California is sending waves through the Catholic community and raising renewed concerns about integrity in spiritual leadership.

According to Reuters, Pope Leo has accepted the resignation of Bishop Emanuel Hana Shaleta, the leader of the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of St. Peter the Apostle in San Diego, after he was arrested and accused of stealing approximately $250,000 from his church. The move comes as Shaleta faces a growing list of criminal charges tied to alleged financial misconduct.

Shaleta had served the San Diego-based Chaldean Catholic community since 2017, shepherding a significant population of believers. Reuters reported that the region is home to roughly 71,000 Chaldean Catholics.

The allegations surfaced after a church employee reportedly noticed discrepancies in financial records and alerted authorities. As Reuters noted, the alleged misconduct occurred in 2024, eventually leading prosecutors to file 16 felony charges, including embezzlement and money laundering. Shaleta has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The situation escalated when Shaleta was arrested on March 5 at San Diego International Airport while preparing to board an international flight.

According to Fox News, prosecutors believe rent payments connected to a church social hall may have played a key role in the alleged fraud. Authorities say the rent was paid to Shaleta in cash, and he reportedly reimbursed the church using funds from another account intended to help individuals struggling to pay their rent.

To order Chad MacDonald’s new book, Defeating Darkness, visit .

Fox News reported that the monthly payments were more than $30,000, and investigators believe roughly $272,000 in church funds are unaccounted for.

The Fox News report also noted that these charges come as Shaleta has been described as having a “secret double life,” including claims that Shaleta had traveled to areas associated with the red-light district in Tijuana, Mexico.

In recent years, the church has witnessed multiple high-profile failures among leaders across denominations. These moments can shake the faith of many, but they also highlight the urgent need for prayer, accountability and spiritual discernment within the body of Christ.

Scripture reminds believers in 1 Corinthians 10:12, “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed, lest he fall.”

As more cases involving ministers and church leaders continue to surface, believers are called to pray for truth to come to light, for justice where wrongdoing has occurred and for restoration where repentance is possible. Just as importantly, the church must seek the Lord for discernment and integrity in leadership, asking God to raise up shepherds who will faithfully guard His people and steward His church with righteousness.

Rihanna Targeted in Shooting as Suspect Rants About Witchcraft in Chilling Videos

A Florida woman is behind bars after allegedly driving across the country and firing multiple rounds at the home of global music superstar Rihanna, in a frightening incident that authorities say could have ended in tragedy.

According to a televised report from FOX 11 Los Angeles, police say 35-year-old Yvonne Ortiz traveled from Orlando, Florida, to Los Angeles with the intention of targeting someone inside the Beverly Crest residence shared by Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky.

Investigators say the situation unfolded Sunday afternoon when Ortiz allegedly opened fire on the home while sitting inside her vehicle. Authorities believe she fired between five and ten rounds from a semiautomatic rifle before fleeing the scene.

Thankfully, no one inside the residence was injured.

Police later arrested Ortiz a short time after the shooting. Authorities say an assault-style rifle was discovered inside her Tesla when she was taken into custody.

During a briefing with reporters, LAPD Police Chief Jim McDonnell said the severity of the case and the number of people potentially placed in danger contributed to the high bail set for the suspect.

Ortiz’s bail has been set at $10,225,000.

“The bail is as high as it is because of the number of victims,” McDonnell explained. “There were a total of 10 people present when that shooting occurred, and all would be considered victims.”

Authorities are now reviewing her social media activity as part of the investigation.

According to the FOX 11 report, detectives say Ortiz’s online posts reveal what they describe as an escalating fixation on Rihanna. The posts reportedly include a mix of celebrity references and religious content, including Bible passages and daily prayer journal entries, shared in videos posted online.

To order Jenny Weaver’s new book, The Wicked World of Witchcraft, visit .

In one video, Ortiz was found saying, “Listen, Rihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future.”

Additional details about Ortiz’s online activity have also raised concerns about the nature of her claims against the singer.

According to a report from The Blaze, the suspect posted several videos in which she accused Rihanna of practicing witchcraft. In footage from her YouTube series titled “Praying Woman’s Journal,” Ortiz reportedly alleged that the artist used her music as a means to carry out witchcraft and even referred to Rihanna as “a witch.”

The Blaze noted that Ortiz appeared paranoid about Rihanna wanting to harm her, stating in a post online, “Are you there? … Say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at.” She also said in another that Rihanna did “her little music thing so she can do witchcraft.”

The disturbing details surrounding this case also serve as a sobering reminder of how easily Scripture can be twisted when it is removed from its true context and authority. Throughout history, people have attempted to use the Bible to justify personal obsessions, delusions or even harmful actions—something Scripture itself warns against.

The tragedy of this situation highlights the danger of spiritual confusion and the importance of rightly understanding God’s Word. As believers are reminded in 2 Timothy 2:15, we are called to “rightly divide the word of truth,” ensuring that Scripture is handled with humility, wisdom and a genuine pursuit of Christ rather than being manipulated to fuel fear, anger or unhealthy spiritual obsession.

Jack Hibbs Breaks Down the Antichrist: The Coming ‘Anti-Messiah’ and the Deception of the Last Days

Pastor Jack Hibbs is urging believers to take the topic of the Antichrist seriously as we race toward the end of time.

In a recent teaching on the Antichrist, Hibbs emphasized that Bible prophecy is meant to strengthen faith, not create fear. Pointing to Jesus’ words in John 14:29, he reminded listeners why Scripture reveals the future.

“Jesus said, ‘I have told you before it comes that when it does come to pass, you may believe,’” Hibbs said. “Bible prophecy, when taught correctly biblically, should lead others to a deeper faith.”

Hibbs explained that the Antichrist is often misunderstood. While many think only of a future world ruler, Scripture describes something broader already operating in society.

“Whenever we talk about the Antichrist, we’re talking about a system, we’re talking about a group and we’re talking about a person,” he said.

To order Mark Biltz’s new book, The Final Tyrant, visit .

At its core, Hibbs believes the battle surrounding the Antichrist centers on one thing: human souls.

“The number one thing on the Antichrist agenda is actually the number one thing on the agenda of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that is the souls of men,” he said.

Tracing the origin of deception back to Genesis, Hibbs said the spirit of antichrist first appeared when Satan questioned God’s word in the Garden of Eden. Quoting the serpent’s words, he noted the pattern that still appears today: “Has God indeed said?”

“Doubt,” Hibbs explained. “Satan is speaking through this serpent… ‘Has God said?’ There’s a lot of that going on right now. ‘Is that what God really meant?’”

He warned believers to be cautious of voices that subtly undermine Scripture.

“If you’re listening to somebody and they say, ‘But is that what God really meant?’ … they sound just like Satan,” Hibbs said.

As Hibbs explains, the Antichrist will ultimately emerge as the culmination of this deception—presenting himself as a counterfeit savior.

“The word ‘anti’ means this,” he explained. “It means either instead of or in opposition to. And Christ is the word Christos—Messiah. Anti-Messiah.”

In other words, the coming figure will both oppose Jesus and attempt to replace Him.

“He is the anti-Messiah,” Hibbs said. “He’s against the Messiah… but also this Antichrist means not only opposition but as an impostor instead of—to offer oneself up instead of the true Christ.”

That counterfeit spirit, he added, is why Scripture strongly warns about false prophets and false teachers.

“God hates and will destroy all false prophets and false teachers,” Hibbs said. “Because false prophets and false teachers lead people astray.”

Yet despite growing deception in the world, Hibbs stressed that this ultimate evil deception is still being restrained by God.

“It’s God holding back the evil,” he said, referencing 2 Thessalonians 2. “And if God relaxes, the Antichrist appears.”

In a time of spiritual confusion and global upheaval, Hibbs’ warning is clear: deception and evil may be increasing, but the victory of Jesus is certain—and the call now is for every believer to stand firm in truth, remain watchful and keep their eyes fixed on the soon return of Jesus.

Family Breaks Silence After Christian Mom Reportedly Killed by Former Worship Pastor Husband

The family of Ashley Flynn is speaking out after her murder, which was allegedly committed by her husband, who was a former worship pastor and American Idol contestant.

According to ChurchLeaders, Ashley Flynn’s sister, Kayla Keyt, discussed on social media what it has been like after the death of her sister.

On Facebook, Kayla wrote:

The outpouring of love and support we have received over the past three weeks has been more than we could have ever imagined. Our family’s deepest desire has been to thank each and every person who has blessed us, but doing so feels like trying to catch every droplet of a waterfall of blessings — beautiful, overwhelming, and impossible to gather all at once.

From the gifts for the girls and our new family of six, to the meals, groceries, laundry help, and everyday acts of kindness… from the generous donations toward the Flynn girls’ future, to the hands that helped renovate our home to make space for six… and the constant messages, prayers, and cards of encouragement — we are deeply grateful.

We could not have walked this road without each of you, and we know there is still much ahead. But we trust that the Lord will guide us hour by hour and day by day. He promises to work all things for our good and His glory, and we are holding tightly to that promise.

Ashley left a beautiful legacy — one of faith, joy, and a deep love for Jesus and her children. We already see that legacy rippling through this community and through her two precious daughters, whom we now have the incredible honor of raising.

She also encouraged people to live the way that her sister did: be bold and on fire for Jesus.

If you want to honor Ashley, the best way to do it is simple: love people well, pray boldly for your family, and point others to Jesus the way she always did. Her life was a light, and that light is still spreading.

The past several nights before bed, the six of us “hi-fived” one another saying, “We made it through another day. And with God’s help, we will make it through the next one too — together.”

Your love, prayers, and support have been tangible evidence of how the body of Christ surrounds and carries one another in the hardest moments of life.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Ashley Flynn’s husband, Caleb Flynn, has been arrested for her murder and faces charges for two counts of tampering with evidence and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Caleb is believed to have created a crime scene to “throw off detectives.”

As this grieving family continues to walk through unimaginable loss, pray that the peace of Christ would surround Kayla, the children and every member of the Flynn family as they face the difficult days ahead.

Return of the Gods: Jonathan Cahn Warns the Spirit of Baal Is Rising Again

In a sobering message about spiritual decline in modern culture, Messianic rabbi and author Jonathan Cahn delivered a warning many believers may find unsettling: the same ancient spirit that once led Israel into idolatry is reappearing today—and even influencing parts of the church.

Speaking in a recent sermon, Cahn pointed to the biblical account of Israel turning away from God and embracing the pagan god Baal, explaining that the pattern carries a prophetic warning for modern societies that abandon the Lord.

“When Israel turned away from God, they turned to the gods,” Cahn said. “If you turn away from the Elohim, you will end up turning to those elohim. If you turn away from God, the gods are coming in. The vacuum is not going to stay.”

To order Jonathan Cahn’s book, The Return of the Gods, visit .

According to Cahn, Baal represented more than just an ancient idol. He described Baal as a spiritual force tied to materialism, sensuality and worldly obsession.

“When Baal came to Israel, it was a turn to materialism,” Cahn said. “Baal was the god of this world… carnal physical sensuality, materialism.”

Cahn argued that many of the cultural changes unfolding in America mirror the same spiritual shift seen in ancient Israel when Baal worship spread. As a society removes God from public life, he said, other “gods” inevitably rise to take His place.

“When you take away God, you end up with gods and idols,” Cahn said. “When God is removed, you can’t remove the need for God. So if you don’t worship God, you’re going to worship something else.”

In modern culture, he suggested, those substitutes can take many forms—self, pleasure, money, ideology or even political movements.

“When you take away God, everything becomes God,” Cahn said. “Anything becomes God.”

Cahn also warned that rejecting God’s authority eventually leads to rejecting truth itself. When a culture abandons objective truth grounded in God, he said, society begins to replace it with subjective ideas.

“We move away from truth and we move away from even the idea that there is a truth,” Cahn said. “People say, ‘I have my own truth.’ But truth by definition is not your personal truth.”

Another modern manifestation of idolatry, Cahn argued, is humanity’s increasing dependence on technology.

“When man turns away from God… he will end up worshiping the works of his hands,” he said. “He will serve his own technology.”

Yet Cahn’s warning did not stop at secular culture. He said the influence of Baal can also creep into the church when believers begin adopting the values of the surrounding culture rather than the truth of Scripture.

“Baal doesn’t just go for the culture,” Cahn said. “He goes for the people of God. In other words, Baal goes to church.”

And Baal has infiltrated both the church and the culture in sweeping ways.

In recent years, replicas of the Arch of Baal, an ancient gateway associated with the temple of the pagan deity in Palmyra, have been erected in several global cities and even displayed during events such as the World Government Summit in Dubai, which Charisma previously reported on.

Public demonstrations have also featured dramatic Baal imagery.

A recent protest in Mexico City included the burning of a Baal effigy while demonstrators smashed piñatas representing President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Similar imagery has been repeated in Iran as well, with at least two different Baal statues being set on fire. These moments are not random.

Instead, they are part of an ancient spiritual battle.

As Cahn shared, Christians must pick up the call to stay rooted deeply in the Word of God, no matter what is happening around us.

“We are not to be slaves,” he said. “We are children of God… and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”

Pastor Demands Congregants Show Him Their Tax Returns

In the middle of tax season, one pastor is making some stark demands: that his congregants let him review their returns.

In a viral video on social media, the pastor can be heard making his requests known loudly and plainly.

“Next week, I am asking that all church members bring a copy of your tax returns so that I can review them,” he says. “I’m going to put a stop to some of y’all playing in my face during tithes and offerings on Sunday mornings. It’s tight, but it’s right.”

Why Demands Like This Are Spiritually Dangerous

Moments like this raise serious concerns about spiritual authority and the responsibility of church leadership. While pastors are called to shepherd and guide their congregations, the idea of requiring members to submit personal tax returns crosses into territory that Scripture never instructs church leaders to control.

The New Testament consistently frames giving as an act of worship and obedience to the Lord that flows from the heart—not something extracted through pressure, embarrassment or surveillance. When financial transparency is demanded in this way, it can create an environment of fear and manipulation rather than faith and trust.

Such practices can also damage the credibility of the church itself. For many outside the faith, accusations that churches misuse money or pressure people financially already exist. Actions that appear coercive reinforce those stereotypes and can become a stumbling block for those considering the gospel.

Pastoral authority is meant to protect and serve the flock. When that authority begins to resemble financial policing, the spiritual health of the congregation can be compromised.

When Prosperity Teaching Is Taken Out of Context

Situations like this often stem from a misunderstanding or misuse of biblical teaching about prosperity and blessing. While Scripture teaches that God blesses generosity, the Bible never presents giving as an action to be taken through manipulative actions. True biblical prosperity includes spiritual growth, peace with God, wisdom and provision—not merely financial increase.

To order Kap Chatfield’s new book, The Power to Prosper, visit .

When giving becomes something leaders attempt to enforce through scrutiny or pressure, it risks distorting the heart of the gospel. Instead of generosity flowing from gratitude toward God, it becomes a matter of compliance with human expectations.

What the Bible Actually Says About Giving

Scripture provides clear guidance on generosity and consistently emphasizes willingness and joy rather than compulsion.

In 2 Corinthians 9:7, the apostle Paul writes:

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

This passage highlights an essential principle: giving is meant to be voluntary and motivated by love for God, not pressure from those who cannot control their tempers.

The concept of the tithe, traditionally understood as giving a tenth, originates in the Old Testament even before the Law was given, when Abraham offered a tithe to Melchizedek. While Christians should continue to practice tithing, God’s concern is for the heart and spirit behind why we give.

Jesus Himself warned against religious leaders who misused their authority. In Matthew 23, He rebuked leaders who emphasized external rules while neglecting justice, mercy and faithfulness. The early church also modeled generosity not through compulsion but through unity and love. In Acts 2 and 4, believers voluntarily shared resources to care for those in need.

Generosity flows from a transformed heart. It is an act of worship between the believer and God, stewarded with wisdom and accountability—but never forced through intimidation or public scrutiny.

Donald Trump’s Words From 1995 About Running for Office Now Sound Strikingly Prophetic

Years before he ever entered the political arena, President Donald Trump spoke candidly in a television interview about whether he would ever run for office—and whether America would elect someone who refused to play political games.

In the wide-ranging 1995 conversation with Roger Ailes, Trump was asked directly whether he would consider entering politics. His response revealed both skepticism about the political system and a belief that Americans wanted stronger leadership.

“I’m a pretty straight guy and I’m not sure that somebody that really calls it like it is and says this is what you have to do,” Trump said. “I’m not sure that kind of a guy gets elected. Maybe so, maybe not.”

To order Troy Anderson’s new book, Designated Disrupter, visit .

At the time, Trump was known primarily as a real estate developer and businessman, but political questions were already following him. In the interview, he acknowledged that many people had already encouraged him to run.

“Everybody wants me to do it,” Trump said. “They all want me to run, run.”

Yet he expressed concern about the nature of modern politics, suggesting that honesty and bluntness were not always welcomed in Washington.

“There’s a certain dishonesty unfortunately that you need for running for office,” he said.

Despite that critique, Trump made it clear he believed America needed stronger leadership when dealing with foreign nations and economic policy. He pointed specifically to trade negotiations, arguing that the United States too often surrendered its leverage.

“I would take a much harder stand,” Trump said when discussing how he would approach international negotiations. “I would say make a couple of enemies. I think I’d make a lot of friends ultimately.”

Trump argued that a firmer approach would earn respect for the United States around the world.

“I think we’d be better off, and I think we’d be far more respected,” he said.

Throughout the interview, Trump repeatedly emphasized the importance of strength in leadership and negotiation. He criticized what he believed was a pattern of American leaders backing down during trade disputes, calling it “the most incredible failure in negotiation that I’ve seen.”

At the time, the idea of Trump as a political candidate seemed unlikely to many observers. Yet looking back, the comments offer a fascinating glimpse into how his political thinking was already forming decades before he would launch a campaign.

Looking back now, the moment feels striking. Long before campaign rallies, election nights and a presidency that would reshape American politics, Trump spoke candidly about leadership, truth and the cost of standing firm. At the time, it sounded like speculation. Today, it reads more like foreshadowing.

What once seemed like a passing comment in a 1990s interview now stands as a reminder that history—and perhaps even destiny—sometimes begins to reveal itself long before the world is ready to recognize it.

Iran Launches ‘Heaviest Operation’ Yet as Israel Strikes Tehran

Tensions across the Middle East are rapidly escalating as new attacks at sea, drone incidents and widening military strikes continue to unfold across the region.

One of the most significant flashpoints emerged in the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway that serves as a vital artery for global oil and commercial shipping.

According to CNN, the United Kingdom’s maritime agency reported that three vessels were struck by what were described as “unknown projectiles” near the strategic passage. The strikes damaged the ships and left multiple sailors missing.

According to the New York Post, the U.S. military said it had eliminated 16 Iranian mine-laying vessels in the area after President Donald Trump warned Iran not to place any mines in the crucial shipping lane.

Sources also told CNN that Tehran had begun laying mines in the waterway before the U.S. operation took place.

Beyond the maritime conflict, Iran appears to be expanding its military campaign across the region. Iranian state media claimed the country launched its “most intense and heaviest operation” since the start of the war, CNN reported. Missile interceptions were reported across several Gulf states as well as Israel as the attacks unfolded.

The outlet also noted that Russia is now advising Iran on drone warfare tactics, adding another geopolitical layer to the growing crisis.

Israel has responded with additional military operations targeting Iranian positions. CNN reported that Israel announced it had launched an “additional wave” of strikes on targets in Tehran.

For many Christians watching events unfold in the Middle East, the growing turmoil carries deeper spiritual significance. Scripture repeatedly points to the region as central to the unfolding of end-times events. Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 24 that the last days would be marked by “wars and rumors of wars,” urging believers not to be troubled but to remain watchful.

The prophet Ezekiel also foretold a future alignment of nations surrounding Israel, describing in Ezekiel 38 a coalition of powers rising in the region in the latter days. As tensions increase across Iran, Israel and neighboring nations, many believers see reminders of the biblical reality that history is ultimately moving toward God’s prophetic purposes.

As events continue to unfold across the Middle East, the words of Scripture serve as both a warning and a hope—that even amid conflict and instability, God remains sovereign over the nations and His plan for the world will ultimately prevail.

Gunman Shot After Taking Two Women Hostage Near Baltimore Synagogue

A tense hostage standoff and shooting near a Baltimore synagogue on Tuesday ended with the suspect dead and several people injured, prompting both concern and relief within the local Jewish community.

According to the New York Post, police responded to a call about a burglary at a home on Park Heights Avenue in northwest Baltimore, an area located near the Agudath Israel of Baltimore. When officers arrived, the situation quickly escalated after the suspect allegedly opened fire from inside the residence.

As the Post notes, the confrontation soon turned into a hostage situation involving two women inside the home. One of the women managed to escape by jumping out of a window. The suspect reportedly held a firearm to other hostage’s head during the standoff.

Police and emergency units responded to the scene, during which at least one Baltimore police officer was shot in the leg, and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to recover, according to reporting from the New York Post.

This incident occurred in close proximity to the synagogue, raising early concerns about whether the Jewish community might have been the intended target. The Jerusalem Post and The Times of Israel stated that officials do not currently believe the synagogue itself was targeted.

Still, the proximity of the shooting to the synagogue understandably caused alarm among residents and members of the Jewish community, as the Times of Israel noted.

Incidents like this serve as a sobering reminder of the need for prayer and spiritual vigilance. During this time, pray for all those affected by the incident: for the injured officer recovering from his wounds, for the civilians who experienced the trauma of the hostage situation and for the Jewish community in Baltimore who were understandably shaken by the violence occurring so close to their place of worship.
