What exactly is happening in the church today?

Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde stirred up quite the controversy after she rebuked President Trump in the National Prayer Service following the inauguration. Now, she is being hailed as “prophetic” by an episcopal priest.

Word and Way spoke to Episcopal priest and former U.S. Senator John Danforth about Budde’s sermon, which he called “prophetic ministry.”

Saying that Budde’s message was infused with biblical “truth and power,” but falling on “deaf ears,” with Trump, Danforth told the outlet, “…that’s what prophetic ministry does. It speaks from the standpoint of what the understanding of the speaker is of the Word of God to the world at large…” He then compared the cause of social justice to that of the prophet Amos, Jeremiah and even Moses.

Yet, what Budde said, in reality, was nothing more than identity politics wrapped up in a rebuke against an incoming president during a time of celebration. The message was not one of unity in the body of Christ, but rather one of division. The question now remains: How much of the church is being deceived by a message rooted more in culture than biblical truth?

According to Axios, the Episcopalian Church in Utah has had a dramatic surge since Budde’s rebuke of the president, some of which is directly related to her sermon. This comes at a time when outlets like Sojourners noted Budde’s plea to be about “themes of unity.” Unfortunately, we see more and more who call themselves Christians falling for the ploy that somehow compassion like Jesus means accepting sin instead of preaching the gospel, which reminds us that He came and died for us, not to stay where we are, but rather for us to become free from the bondage of sin, death and the grave.

Take the time to pray for those who are under the deception of cultural Christianity, that they may come to know who Jesus is in Spirit and in truth.

Recently, an asteroid was discovered that potentially could collide with earth in 2032.

The asteroid, 2024 YR4, has been noted as a “…nearly 200-foot space rock” and could “hit just before Christmas of 2032,” according to The Independent.

As of right now, a greater level of observation is necessary to see how this could affect earth.

This is “one of the highest probabilities of an impact from a significantly sized rock ever,” David Rankin from Catalina Sky Survey wrote online.

While we should monitor this situation, reports that the asteroid has a “1-in-83 chance of striking Earth in December of 2032.”

With situations like this where we have very little control over what does and does not happen to us, it is key for Christians to remember we are to stand on the Word of God. Jesus warned us about the “signs in the heavens,” so we can look at these patterns and reflect on His imminent return. Above all else, we must continue living our lives full of faith instead of fear.

Would you ever make a deal with God?

In an exclusive interview with Charisma Media, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn shared the details of the bold deal he made with God when he was a teenager.

“I made a deal with God as a teenager,” Cahn says. “I said, ‘Lord, if You give me a long life, I will accept You when I’m on my deathbed.'”

However, it didn’t take long for Cahn to find himself actually on the brink of death.

“Soon after I made that deal, I was almost killed. And first time was a car accident, second time I was in a Ford I’m heading to a train track at night,'” Cahn recounts. “There had been a storm, so you couldn’t see, and the train came at an angle. It was on a rugged road and there was no protection.”

Having seen other cars crossing, Cahn thought the train already had passed or that the light for the track was broken. However, Cahn soon found himself being smashed by the train with only one thing left to do.

“The only thing I could do was call out to God,” he says. “The car was destroyed, and I didn’t get a scratch.”

This shifted Cahn’s perspective and he brought forth a new deal to God. Instead of accepting the Lord on his deathbed, he said he would turn to Him on his 20th birthday.

While Cahn didn’t know exactly how to call upon Jesus, he remembered learning that Moses and Elijah both went up on mountains to seek the Lord, so he decided to do the same. Being a descendant of Aaron, Cahn later learned that those from his lineage would come into the service of God on their 20th birthday, which shocked him as he thought about dedicating his life to Jesus on this same day.

Conservative commentator Brett Cooper has finally returned to the internet following a hiatus after leaving The Daily Wire’s YouTube show, “The Comments Section.” Now with the launch of her “The Brett Cooper Show,” she is going all in for conservatism.

In this first episode of Cooper’s show, “Let’s Talk About Right-Wing Cancel Culture,” Cooper warns the political right not to fall into the same traps as the left when it comes to cancel culture. Cooper observes that when conservatives turn on their own over past mistakes, they risk sabotaging the very movement they seek to build.

One example she highlighted was comedian Whitney Cummings, who recently made headlines for her unapologetic and politically incorrect New Year’s Eve performance. Once an outspoken advocate for vaccines and other left-leaning causes, Cummings has since distanced herself from woke ideology. However, some conservatives refused to embrace her shift, condemning her for past stances.

“The correct and the good thing to do is to welcome people like Whitney Cummings and understand where they’re coming from and have empathy for the fact that, yeah, maybe it took them longer than some other people, but they finally got here,” Cooper says.

Perhaps the most surprising figure to seek redemption in recent months is Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. He has openly expressed regret for past censorship decisions, vowed to resist government overreach and even begun dismantling woke policies at Meta, including diversity quotas and gender activism in corporate spaces.

“With Zuckerberg’s track record, obviously we should be skeptical,” Cooper says. “But you also shouldn’t dismiss the work that he is doing that will make our lives better that will hopefully change the course of the media landscape.”

Cooper’s insights on cancel culture are wise and worth considering. Just as Christians should not be so quick to judge those who have just accepted Jesus or those who need help coming back after falling into sin, all conservatives too should be open to the idea not only of tearing down leftism, but bringing others into the conservative movement as well.

President Trump has addressed the devastating mid-air collision near the Reagan National Airport which took place last night around 9 p.m.

“I speak to you this morning in an hour of anguish for [our] nation,” Trump says. “The work is now shifted to a recovery mission. Sadly, there are no survivors.” The president noted the aircraft’s landing lights were on and highly visible, making the circumstances of the collision all the more baffling. He then stressed that this tragedy could have been prevented, and further gave his condolences to those who have lost loved ones.

“As one nation, we grieve for every precious soul that has been taken from us so suddenly,” he says. “On behalf of the First Lady, myself and 340 million Americans, our hearts are shattered alongside yours and our prayers are with you now.”

Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, who prayed during Trump’s inauguration, also led in prayer surrounding this situation in an exclusive video with Charisma Media.

“Heavenly Father we come to You in the name of Jesus because there’s nowhere else to go. You said ‘Come boldly,'” Sewell prays. “Would You give rest now to 67 families that may not even know that their family members were a part of this pain and tragedy?”

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin gave his heartfelt condolences, praying for America in the wake of this horrific tragedy.

“We lament and cry and search for ways to express our sorrow. Father, we ask for Your grace upon each one of these 67 whole souls. Father, we ask You to comfort their families,” Youngkin prays.

That’s exactly what happened during a baptism service at Catalyst Church in Evansville, Indiana, when pastor David Whitmore went to baptize a young man named Jared, as Protestia noted.

In the video of the baptism posted to X, the strangeness of the encounter was documented with a pause being placed on the service itself.

“[Have you put your] faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?” Whitmore asks the man.

“Hey, I’m Jesus Christ,” the man replies.

Confused, Whitmore asks “What?” and receives an eerie reply: “I’m back boys.”

"What?"

Seconds before being baptized, a young man claims to BE Jesus Christ in the flesh, prompting a very confused pastor to quickly reorient himself and wisely cancel proceedings.

Deciding to pause the baptism once more, Whitmore asks the man, Jared, if he has placed his faith in Jesus Christ, to which the man replies: “I’m not Jared.”

With this third attempt to baptize the man, Whitmore decided to halt the service and pray against any demonic spirits that had filtered into the church.

“God, You are King of kings and Lord of lords. Jesus, You are the One we represent. We are not Jesus,” Whitmore prays. “So Lord, I do pray that if there’s any demonic spirits that are here trying to hinder us from giving You the spirits have no presence here. This is a place of worship.”

Regardless of what exactly was happening at that moment, baptism challenges with entities are more common than many may believe. Greg and Tai Locke both experienced a shift in their perspective of the supernatural realm when they saw someone manifest a demon during a baptism service.

““I can’t continue in ministry and see those kinds of things and not be equipped to help someone that is in that situation,” Tai Locke says. “And that was the moment for us. We began to fast; we began to pray.”

After sharing her testimony of becoming radically transformed by the love of Christ, Lola Sheen has started her very own podcast to encourage others in their walk with God.

The new podcast, “HeavenlyBonded,” comes right after Sheen posted photos from her recent baptism, which took place earlier this month.

Growing up in an environment saturated with media attention due to being the daughter of celebrities, Lola felt isolated from an early age. By age 10, depression had taken root in her heart. She longed for connection but found only loneliness. As she entered adolescence, she sought solace in new-age practices, turning to crystals for protection and love.

“I would buy crystals because I thought that this certain rock would bring me love. I thought that this rock would bring me wisdom, safety, but genuinely I was buying these rocks because I thought that it was my only option,” Sheen says of her journey into the New Age.

In high school, she experimented with partying, vaping and drinking, all in an attempt to fill the emptiness within. Yet, none of it satisfied. Instead, she spiraled further into addiction, panic attacks and deep despair.

“I just remember my entire world switched like literally everything was just dark, it was like I had this panic attack and everything just went so downhill,” she says. “The next day I woke up so depressed it was like I was just hit with the biggest wave of depression,” Sheen says. “I didn’t know how to get out and I was so lost. I did not leave my room for three months.”

Sheen contemplated ending her life. But just when darkness seemed to have won, a simple yet profound encounter changed everything.

“I texted my friend Harlow,” says Sheen. “She sent me a paragraph saying all the reasons why I need to be alive, and every reason why she loves me and cares about me.”

After receiving this message, Sheen strengthened herself enough to make it through another day. Sheen found her way back to crystals at this time, but they did not help the turmoil and the dissociation she was feeling. After experiencing heartbreak and partying to cope with the pain, Sheen was alive but still struggling until one night she had a supernatural encounter with Christ.

“I was laying in my bed and I felt Jesus come in my room,” says Sheen. “I felt Him all in my room, and I felt Him hold my hand and say, ‘Try this again with me…’ It felt like He told me, ‘I’m here to rescue you. I’m here to save you tonight. You’re going to be OK’.”

After this supernatural meeting with Jesus, Sheen surrendered her life to Christ the next morning.

In a video that has gone viral on YouTube, Vice President J.D. Vance shared his powerful prayer to the Lord around the time of the vetting process to become the vice presidential nominee.

“I’ll tell you, yesterday morning I woke up, I went to bed around 1 in the morning. And I woke up around 3:30 in the morning. And you know my mind is racing. I’m the kind of guy I sleep like a baby even the past couple of weeks going through this vetting process for the vice presidential nomination. I still slept like a baby.”

However, on that particular night, Vance couldn’t sleep as he normally would. Instead, he felt anxious and knew he needed a touch from God.

“For some reason, yesterday, the morning of the biggest speech of my life, I’ve [gotten] two-and-a-half hours of sleep, my kids aren’t going to be up for three or four hours, so I’m bored, alone, anxious and thoughts are racing through my head a mile a minute,” he continues.

It was at this moment that Vance called on the name above every other name: the name of Jesus.

“After 30 minutes of trying to count finally just say, ‘Jesus, please help me.’ And I’m not kidding, that was the last thing that I remembered until three hours felt the touch of God.”

An American Airlines flight inbound from Wichita, Kansas, collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. at 9 p.m. last night. Early reports include at least 28 victims, with more than 300 first responders conducting recovery operations in the icy Potomac River. The American Airlines flight had 60 passengers and four crew. The army helicopter included three crew on board a training flight.

According to NBC News, the collision happened over the Potomac River near downtown. Passengers on the America Airlines flight included American figure skaters, their families and coaches, along with figure skaters and coaches from Russia.

While the cause of the crash has not yet been determined, Senator Mike Rounds (R) of South Dakota told Fox News that “What we’re seeing right now is what happens if you have a lack of communication or a misunderstanding.”

In a recent episode on the “Unashamed” podcast hosted by the “Duck Dynasty” Robertson family, the group invited along members of the “Blurry Creatures” podcast to discuss the reality of Nephilim, giants and spiritual warfare.

A pivotal focus was the biblical account of the Nephilim—the mysterious offspring of fallen angels and human women mentioned in Genesis 6.

Speaking first about the reality of Nephilim as detailed in Genesis, Al Robertson points out that we see the discussion of giants even further into Scripture, pointing to Goliath and other 10-foot giants.

What exactly is the purpose of discussing these supernaturally tall and large beings? They argued that understanding this spiritual invasion helps unlock the deeper meaning behind Jesus’ mission—not just to bring salvation but to overthrow demonic strongholds and reclaim the nations under God’s dominion.

One striking point raised in the conversation was the connection between the Nephilim and the hybridization of humanity. The ancient giants were not merely mythological figures but part of a greater plan by fallen angels to corrupt God’s creation.

“When we look at our Bible, how do we think about some of the things that people want to gloss over?” Luke Rodgers from Blurry Creatures asked.

Outside of the topic of the Nephilim and giants, the Robertsons also described their experience of becoming more open to the concept of the demonic affecting everyday people.

Jase and Al described how their grandmother’s battle with mental health struggles went beyond what was natural, giving reason to think that there was a supernatural issue happening within her.

“She would have these episodes that would last for a few weeks and she literally became another person,” Jase Robertson says. “Zach, your dad said, ‘Have we thought about maybe she’s demon possessed,’ and when he said that all the lights went off in the house immediately,” Jase recounts.

While he points out that a picture had fallen off on the porch, knocking out the power, the two recall how strange the timing was, which led Jase to reconsider his thought process on whether or not people could be influenced by the demonic.
