Slain in the Spirit: Miracle or Manipulation? The Answer Will Surprise You!

The phenomenon of being “slain in the spirit” has been a topic of intense debate within the Christian community for many years. Some embrace it as a powerful and genuine move of God, while others argue that it is unbiblical or even demonic.

To better understand this issue, let’s break down this intriguing conversation by Vlad Savchuk into five key points that will help discern whether being slain in the spirit is biblical or a dangerous deception.

1. Bible Precedents for Falling Under God’s Power
While the exact term “slain in the spirit” does not appear in the Bible, there are numerous instances where people in Scripture experienced altered physical states in the presence of God. For instance, in Acts 10:9-10, the apostle Peter falls into a trance while praying, receiving divine revelation. Similarly, Paul recounts his experience of falling into a trance in Acts 22:17-18, when he encounters the Lord. These passages demonstrate that God’s presence can overwhelm a person physically, leading to falls or altered states. Additionally, when Jesus declares, “I am,” the soldiers who came to arrest Him fall to the ground (John 18:5-6). While these examples don’t explicitly describe being “slain,” they clearly show that God’s presence can cause individuals to lose physical control in some way.

2. Extra-Biblical vs. Anti-Biblical
A critical distinction in the discussion of being slain in the spirit is between extra-biblical and anti-biblical practices. Extra-biblical refers to practices not explicitly mentioned in the Bible but are not in conflict with biblical teaching. For example, practices like altar calls or church buildings, though not directly outlined in Scripture, are not contrary to biblical doctrine. Being slain in the spirit falls into this category, as it’s not explicitly described in the Bible, but it doesn’t contradict biblical principles either. On the other hand, anti-biblical practices would be those that directly oppose Scripture, like engaging in witchcraft or other sinful behaviors. Since no Scripture outright forbids the practice of being slain in the spirit, it’s important to view it as extra-biblical—something that can be experienced in the church without violating biblical teaching.

3. Cessationists vs. Continuationists
The debate between cessationists and continuationists plays a significant role in how the phenomenon of being slain in the spirit is viewed. Cessationists believe that supernatural gifts, such as speaking in tongues, healing and manifestations like being slain in the spirit, ceased after the apostolic age. They argue that these gifts were only for the early church to establish the Gospel. On the other hand, continuationists believe that these gifts and manifestations continue to operate today. Many who support the practice of being slain in the spirit are in the continuationist camp, interpreting Scripture and church history as evidence that the power of the Holy Spirit is still active in the same ways. They point to the book of Acts and the Gospels, where such manifestations occur frequently, and argue that there is no Scriptural basis for claiming that the Holy Spirit’s work has ceased.

4. Emotionalism and Manipulation
One of the common criticisms of the practice of being slain in the spirit is that it can sometimes be fueled by emotionalism, peer pressure or even manipulation. Some argue that people may fall under the power of God not because of a true spiritual encounter, but due to psychological influence or the expectation created by the environment. There have been instances where individuals fall simply because they are caught up in the emotional atmosphere of a service, or even out of “courtesy” to the preacher, rather than experiencing a genuine move of the Holy Spirit. It’s essential to acknowledge that emotional responses in a spiritual setting can be natural, but they do not always signify a deep spiritual encounter. While emotional excesses or manipulations can certainly discredit the authentic move of God, it’s critical not to let the actions of a few individuals overshadow the true power of the Holy Spirit.

5. The Fruit Test
When considering whether a spiritual manifestation like being slain in the spirit is from God, the ultimate test is the fruit it produces. Jesus Himself said, “You shall know them by their fruit” (Matt. 7:16). The primary concern should not be the manifestation itself but the lasting impact it has on the individual. Does it lead to a deeper relationship with God? Does it bring lasting transformation in the person’s life, drawing them closer to holiness, love and obedience? If an experience produces lasting spiritual fruit—such as healing, deliverance, a hunger for the Word and a deeper devotion to Christ—then it is worth considering as a genuine encounter with the Holy Spirit. We must be cautious not to dismiss or condemn a work of God just because it doesn’t align with our own experiences or expectations. Additionally, the focus should remain on the fruit of the experience, not the physical manifestation itself.

While being slain in the spirit may not be explicitly commanded in Scripture, it is not unbiblical or contrary to biblical teachings. There are biblical precedents that show God’s presence can cause physical responses, and the phenomenon can be understood as an extra-biblical practice rather than anti-biblical.

As Christians, it is essential to exercise discernment, remembering that not every manifestation is genuine, but the fruit of the encounter will reveal its authenticity. Let us seek the genuine power of the Holy Spirit, test the spirits and pursue a deeper relationship with God rather than focusing on external manifestations.

Pope Francis Dies—Did He Help Usher in End-Time Delusion?

As we look back on the life of Pope Francis, we recount some of his most controversial statements and views. A couple of those related directly to the validity of all faiths and the topic of UFOs.

Bible prophecy researcher and author L.A. Marzulli raised serious concerns over statements involving Pope Francis and the narrative surrounding UFOs. Marzulli addressed what he believes are clear signs of end-times deception, pointing specifically to the Pope’s troubling statements about all religions leading to God and the Vatican’s growing openness to extraterrestrial phenomena.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

In September 2024, Pope Francis declared during an interfaith youth gathering in Singapore that all religions are valid paths to God, comparing them to different languages that ultimately lead to the same destination. Marzulli sees this as a dangerous departure from the exclusive truth of the Gospel, and a direct contradiction of Christian doctrine. Rather than promoting peace, such statements blur the line between truth and error, opening the door to a one-world religion—a hallmark of the apostasy warned about in Scripture.

Marzulli also noted inconsistencies between the Pope’s Italian and English statements, suggesting that certain versions may have been strategically toned down to avoid backlash. For Marzulli, this selective messaging points to a calculated effort to gradually shift global religious sentiment toward a unified spiritual framework that embraces all faiths—something he believes plays directly into the hands of the coming global deception.

Beyond religious pluralism, Marzulli has expressed concerned about the Vatican’s engagement with the subject of UFOs.

Over the past several years, the Catholic Church has shown openness to the possibility of extraterrestrial life, hosting and participating in conferences that entertain theological implications of alien contact. Marzulli ties this interest directly to biblical end-times prophecy, warning that what the world calls “aliens” may in fact be fallen angels or spiritual entities bent on deceiving mankind.

As governments around the world accelerate disclosure of unidentified aerial phenomena, Marzulli believes the stage is being set for a great delusion—one that will captivate the masses and challenge traditional religious beliefs. He sees the merging of religious universalism with the increasing normalization of UFO activity as two sides of the same coin. Both serve to undermine the authority of Scripture and prepare the world to embrace a false narrative in place of the Gospel.

The truth behind what was happening during the last papacy couldn’t be clearer: the world is being conditioned for a supernatural deception to challenge the very foundation of Christian faith.

Did ‘The View’ Just Agree with Trump? And Fulfill Prophecy?

Sometimes God surprises us.

Back in 2007, the late Kim Clement prophesied that the television program “The View” would speak exactly what the Lord would want them to say. “What I want you to say!” was Kim’s word. And in a very strange turn of events, “The View” just may have done that when speaking about the dismantling of the Department of Education.

Whoopi Goldberg said on the show, “…maybe some of what’s happening, like they’re trying to take apart the Department of Education, maybe that is a good thing,” Goldberg says.

Goldberg, of all people, just gave a compliment to a conservative presidential administration. That is highly unusual.

“Maybe it will force us to make sure that our kids actually get what they need,” she continues. “Maybe it’ll force us to go to our state and say, ‘Listen, I want to make sure since you’re taking all this money from my taxes, I want to make sure that my kids get exactly what they need.'”

Her next statement is even more inspiring.

“I don’t have to wait for the government to do it. We can do it. This is now in our hands. This is in our hands and it’s going to be tough.”

While no one would have expected Whoopi Goldberg to echo sentiments that align with a conservative viewpoint—especially on a platform like “The View”—this moment is a striking reminder that God can use anyone, anywhere, at any time to speak truth.

Whether through prophets or pundits, when God wants to get a message across, He will make sure it’s heard.

5 Shocking Holy Thursday Events You Never Heard of Until Now

For followers of Christ, Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday are powerful, hope-filled moments in the story of redemption. Yet, before the cross and the empty tomb came a night filled with purpose—Holy Thursday, also known as Maundy Thursday. It’s the quiet before the storm, a sacred chapter that leads us into the heart of Jesus’ sacrifice.

But what exactly happened on Maundy Thursday?

This day marks the first communion.

On this night, as Jesus gathered with His disciples to celebrate the Passover, He instituted what we now call the Lord’s Supper. It was during this meal that Jesus gave them—and us—a tangible way to remember the price He would pay on the cross.

“As they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed it and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, ‘Take and eat. This is My body.’ Then He took the cup, and after He gave thanks, He gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink of it, all of you. For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins’” (Matt. 26:26–27).

At the time, the meaning may have been veiled to the disciples. But in the days to come, they would understand—His body would be broken, His blood poured out, all for the forgiveness of sin.

Holy Thursday is when Jesus humbly washed the disciples’ feet.

In a stunning act of humility, Jesus took the role of a servant, kneeling to wash the feet of His followers. Peter resisted, but Jesus made it clear—this was more than just an example. It was a message: the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve.

“Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands and that He came from God and was going to God, rose from supper, laid aside His garments, and took a towel and wrapped Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was wrapped” (John 13:3–5).

This act was a reflection of the greater cleansing to come—only through Jesus are we made clean. It was also a foreshadowing of the cross, where He would lay down His life for His friends.

Maundy Thursday is the night Jesus prayed in Gethsemane.

In the garden, Jesus poured out His soul to the Father. Fully divine, yet fully human, He felt the crushing weight of what lay ahead. His prayer reveals both His agony and His surrender.

“He prayed, ‘O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done’” (Matt. 26:42).

The suffering He faced was more than physical—it was the burden of bearing the sin of the world. Yet even in this, Jesus submitted Himself to the will of the Father so that we might be saved.

Maundy Thursday is the night of Judas’ betrayal.

Under the cover of night, Judas led a crowd to where Jesus was praying. The sign of betrayal? A kiss.

“Now he who betrayed Him had given them a sign, saying, ‘Whomever I shall kiss is the Man. Seize Him.’ He immediately came to Jesus and said, ‘Hail, Rabbi!’ and kissed Him” (Matt. 26:48–49).

Overwhelmed by what he had done, Judas later returned the 30 pieces of silver and took his own life. The religious leaders used the blood money to buy a potter’s field, unknowingly fulfilling the prophetic words written centuries earlier.

“‘They took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of that which was priced by the sons of Israel, and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me’” (Matt. 27:9–10).

This is the night Peter denied Jesus.

Peter had once boldly declared his loyalty to Jesus, even if it meant prison or death. But just as Jesus foretold, Peter’s courage faltered.

“Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: ‘Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.’ Then he went out and wept bitterly” (Matt. 26:75).

His denial wasn’t the end of the story—but it showed just how deep the need for grace truly is. Even the most devoted among us can fall. That’s why Jesus came.

Maundy Thursday is a solemn yet sacred turning point in the story of redemption. It’s the night of covenant, humility, surrender, betrayal and brokenness—all leading to the cross. And without it, there would be no Resurrection. Let it draw our hearts into deeper gratitude for the One who gave everything for us.

He Met King Solomon in Heaven—The Truth About His 700 Wives Will Shock You!

If you could meet any giant of the faith, who would it be?

In a stunning heavenly encounter, prophetic voice Micah Turnbo shared a moment that left a lasting impression—not just for its supernatural awe, but for the sobering wisdom it carried.

In an interview on Jennifer Bagnaschi’s Deeper Believer, Turnbo detailed his fascinating encounter that took place in the heavenly realm. Turnbo says he met King Solomon, the wisest man to walk the earth apart from Christ, seated at a table with other kings from various nations and eras. But it wasn’t the grandeur of royalty that marked the moment—it was Solomon’s confession.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

“All that wisdom that I gained, that I thought was valuable,” Turnbo recounted Solomon saying, “Nothing. Everything is meaningless. He is truth. He is all. He’s everything.”

That “He” is Jesus. Solomon—who amassed not only wisdom and wealth but also hundreds of wives and concubines—made a candid admission in heaven that stunned Turnbo: that his pursuits, even those backed by supernatural wisdom, became vanity because they were centered on things outside of God.

“He said, ‘It allowed me to chase after things that just didn’t matter,’” Turnbo shared. “It became vanity. It became meaningless.”

For those familiar with Solomon’s story in 1 Kings and Ecclesiastes, this reflection echoes Scripture. Despite starting his reign with divine wisdom and building the majestic Temple of the Lord, Solomon’s heart turned as he grew older, drawn away by his many wives who worshipped foreign gods. His own writings in Ecclesiastes mourn the futility of worldly pursuits: “Meaningless! Meaningless! … Everything is meaningless” (Eccl. 1:2).

To order Jennifer Bagnaschi’s new book, The Devil’s Greatest Fear, visit .

But Turnbo’s encounter gives a personal, post-mortem glimpse into that regret—spoken from heaven itself. It’s a reminder that not even divine wisdom is a substitute for wholehearted devotion to God.

This moment serves as a sobering call for today’s believers: wisdom, status, success—even spiritual gifts—mean nothing if they lead us away from the simplicity of loving Jesus. Turnbo’s heavenly vision reveals that even the wisest among us can get lost when they shift their eyes from the One who is truth.

In the end, it’s not success, knowledge or even legacy that matters—it’s Him. Jesus is the only pursuit that will echo in eternity.

A Night of Revelation: Discover How Passover Unfolds the Mystery of Jesus

Passover is more than a Jewish tradition—it’s a vivid, faith-filled journey through history, prophecy and divine promise.

Recently, believers from around the world joined a livestreamed Passover Seder hosted by Ark of Grace Ministries, stepping into a sacred celebration that powerfully revealed how every element of the feast points to Jesus, the Lamb of God. From the lighting of candles to the breaking of matzah, the event invited participants to experience the story of deliverance not just as observers, but as those living in the freedom it proclaims.

The Seder opened with communion, reminding viewers that Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of Passover. “He was the Passover lamb,” they declared, reading from Isaiah and recounting the brutal suffering He endured to purchase salvation with His blood.

As candles were lit and prayers spoken, symbolic elements of the Passover table took center stage. Matzah was broken and hidden as the afikoman, recalling the body of Christ broken for us. Bitter herbs represented the suffering of slavery, while charoset—a sweet mixture—reminded them of the hope of deliverance.

The Seder followed the ancient order: retelling the story of Israel’s slavery in Egypt, the birth and calling of Moses, the dramatic exodus and the miraculous crossing of the Red Sea. Powerful symbolism was present: the blood of the lamb on the doorposts, placed on the lintel and the sides, forming the shape of a cross; hard-boiled egg, symbolizing both new life and mourning; cup of grape juice, celebrating the fruit of the vine and the joy of redemption.

This Passover wasn’t just a retelling. It was a prophetic proclamation of hope, redemption and victory—pointing not only to what God did, but to what He is still doing through His Son, the Messiah and the Spirit that dwells within His people. A celebration of freedom. And a night to remember.

Is Easter Really a Pagan Holiday? What You Need to Know

Is Easter a pagan holiday?

One viewpoint is that Easter is rooted in the celebration of the fertility of a pagan goddess, Ishtar, who was from Babylonian times. This celebration of ancient fertility rites would, ultimately, mean that Christians were celebrating something far from the truth of Jesus’ Resurrection.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Others have also connected Easter to the timing of Passover, and the forbidding of Christians eating eggs at the time of Lent in the Middle Ages. The word “Easter” can also be connected to the Germanic form of the word “dawn” which would symbolize the dawn of Christ’s Resurrection on the Third Day.

So, should Christians use the term “Easter” or not?

As believers, we are called to walk in wisdom and discernment, that’s why it’s important to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to convict and lead us personally.

While discussions about pagan roots and cultural influences for the name “Easter” are valid, they should not distract believers from the central truth that Resurrection Sunday marks the greatest event in human history—the defeat of sin and death through Jesus rising from the grave.

Regardless of the terms used, what matters most is the posture of our hearts and our focus on the victory of the cross and the empty tomb. Our hearts must be fixed at all times on Christ in sincere worship, not only at this time of year, but in all situations and circumstances.

How Dave Ramsey Lost Everything—And How He Got It All Back

Dave Ramsey has become a household name for those who want to get out of financial debt. However, this wasn’t always the case. In fact, there was a time when Ramsey himself was broke and without hope. That is, until he finally met Jesus Christ.

On an episode of the Shawn Ryan Show, Ramsey explained how he was living the American dream in his twenties. By the age of 26, he had accumulated $4 million in real estate and earned $250,000 in a single year. But despite his financial success, he was drowning in debt, and his world would soon collapse. By age 28, Ramsey was bankrupt, losing everything he had built.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

It was through this downfall that Ramsey experienced a profound transformation—one that would change his life forever. His journey to faith began during a sales conference, where he encountered a speaker who challenged his worldview. The speaker, a successful businessman, boldly stated, “If you don’t know this man named Jesus, you need to get introduced because it will change the way you do business. It will change the way you do relationships.”

Although Ramsey initially resisted his wife’s pleas to attend church, he eventually agreed, driven by a deep curiosity and a sense that something was missing. However, the first churches they visited didn’t leave a lasting impression. That is until they walked into a small, humble church where the presence of God was undeniable. Ramsey recalls, “We just kept coming and we didn’t know what was drawing us back, but we found out later it was… the spirit of God we could feel it and it was just attractive.”

Through this encounter, Ramsey began to understand a key truth: material possessions, no matter how luxurious, could never fulfill the longing in his heart. He’d chased after cars, homes, and extravagant experiences, thinking they would bring peace, but they only left him empty. “If you eat enough lobster, it tastes like soap,” he humorously reflects, illustrating how, eventually, wealth and material goods lose their luster. “You get enough cars, you get enough suits of clothes, you get enough houses… eventually you just go, ‘It’s unfulfilling.’”

It wasn’t until he surrendered his life to Christ that he found true purpose. Ramsey explains, “It’s not all about you… the most fulfilling thing you can do in your life is serve and not gather up another Jaguar…” This spiritual awakening wasn’t just about a change in beliefs—it was a complete shift in priorities. Dave realized that true fulfillment comes not from accumulating wealth, but from serving others and living according to God’s purpose.

Ramsey also reflects on the moment he realized possessions couldn’t bring him peace: “There’s nothing wrong with getting you some stuff… but what’s wrong with where it becomes wrong is if you are asking the stuff to do something it’s not capable of, which is give you peace.”

As he rebuilt his life and career over the next 35 years, his wealth grew, but his attachment to material things disappeared. Today, Dave Ramsey encourages others to seek fulfillment not in wealth, but in the peace that only Jesus can offer. His journey from bankruptcy to faith is a powerful reminder that no amount of success can replace the joy and purpose found in Christ.
