Defense Minister Israel Katz approved the IDF’s plans for the takeover of Gaza City, presented to him by Chief of Staff . Eyal Zamir on Wednesday.

Katz named the campaign Operation “Gideon’s Chariots II”, indicating that the Ministry of Defense and the IDF see it as the continuation of Operation Gideon’s Chariots, which began in May. During a visit to the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Zamir said, “Soon we will move on to the next stage of Operation Gideon’s Chariots, in which we will continue to deepen the harm to Hamas in Gaza City until its defeat.”

Katz and Zamir were joined by several other commanding officers, including the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, the head of the Military Operations Directorate, the head of Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, and representatives from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).

To prepare for the large-scale operation, the military will begin issuing call-up orders for about 60,000 reserve soldiers, starting as early as Wednesday.

Between 40,000 and 50,000 troops will be ordered to report for duty on Sept. 2, with the remainder to be called up at later dates.

The Times of Israel (TOI) reported that roughly 130,000 reservists are expected to serve during Operation Gideon’s Chariots II, many of them backfilling positions on other fronts as active-duty soldiers are redeployed to Gaza.

Five full IDF divisions are slated to join the offensive, organized into 14 brigade-level combat teams that will combine infantry, tanks, artillery, and combat engineering units.

According to the IDF, the more recent, smaller operations on the outskirts of Gaza City – in Zeitoun and Jabaliya –are the first steps in preparing for the larger offensive on the ground.

Zamir had previously declared Operation Gideon’s Chariots to have met its objectives, saying, “Hamas no longer possesses the same capabilities it had before the operation; we have dealt it a severe blow.”

During that operation, the IDF took over operational control of around 75% of the Gaza Strip, as it attempted to exert pressure on Hamas to agree to a hostage-ceasefire deal.

So far, no hostage-ceasefire deal between Israel and the Hamas terror group has been agreed upon, leading some Israelis to increase protests calling for a comprehensive deal, even if it requires leaving Hamas in power.

Despite recent surveys indicating that many Israelis prefer a hostage deal, even at the expense of defeating Hamas, a recent poll found that a slight majority of Jewish Israelis support defeating Hamas militarily.

The first stage of Operation Gideon’s Chariots II is expected to focus on establishing additional humanitarian infrastructure in southern Gaza, reflected in the recent decision to allow tents and shelter equipment back in, ahead of possible evacuation warnings for Gaza City’s civilian population in the coming days.

“As part of the preparations to move the population from Gaza City to the southern Gaza Strip, talks have begun with international organizations to recruit them to establish additional field hospitals in the south, and there is a positive response to this,” a security official told the TOI.

The IDF believes Gaza City is the stronghold of Hamas’ last remaining full battalion, though the terror group also maintains a significant presence in the central camps area.

The TOI claims that Palestinians will have until Oct. 7 to evacuate Gaza City ahead of the start of the IDF’s ground campaign to defeat Hamas in its last stronghold.

Katz’s approval of the IDF’s plans comes as the Israeli government reviews a truce proposal that Hamas claims to have agreed to. Although details remain unclear, reports suggest the deal would involve the release of 10 living hostages and the return of 18 bodies in exchange for at least 200 Palestinian security prisoners, including several serving life sentences.

The Israeli government’s response is expected soon.

A surprising biblical connection

Joel Rosenberg is asking a question many Christians and political observers are watching closely: Does Bible prophecy say the Saudis will make peace with Israel?

In a recent YouTube exclusive for The Rosenberg Report, he explained, “There’s no specific prophetic passage anywhere in the Bible, Old Testament or New, that says there will be peace between these countries in any type of specific way. But…when you read Ezekiel 38 and 39, particularly chapter 38, it strongly implies it.”

Rosenberg pointed back to Scripture’s history, reminding viewers that Arabia and Israel were not always at odds. “Think of the story of the queen of Sheba,” he said. “She was so impressed by King Solomon’s wisdom and the favor of God on him that she gave him all these treasures and she effectively said, ‘Let’s make peace.’ And they built a relationship. They built a peace treaty. Go read it.”

What prophecy actually says

While the Bible never names Saudi Arabia in a modern sense, Rosenberg argued that Ezekiel’s prophecy of the Gog and Magog war offers important clues.

“When you read the beginning of Ezekiel 38 about this coming prophetic attack on Israel, the prerequisite of that prophecy is that Israel is living securely in the land,” Rosenberg said. “The Jews have come back after exile, rebuilt the ancient ruins, made the deserts bloom. Things are going really well in Israel. Things are peaceful. They’re prosperous. And Israel has quiet on all sides.”

That sets the stage for Gog, identified as a Russian leader, to lead Iran, Turkey and others against Israel. But Arabia is not included in that list. Instead, the passage notes that “Sheba and Dedan,” ancient names Rosenberg identifies with Arabia, will stand on the sidelines.

“That doesn’t tell us definitively that the people of Sheba and Dedan have a peace treaty with Israel,” Rosenberg clarified. “It does strongly imply that the people of Sheba and Dedan aren’t in the conflict. They’re not in the coalition with Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya, Sudan and these other countries. They’re outside.”

Prophecy in motion

For Rosenberg, the prophetic implications are significant. The fact that Arabia could stand outside a coalition against Israel would have been unthinkable for most of the past century.

“That would have been impossible to imagine for the last 80 or 100 years,” he said. “It’s much easier to see now because the United Arab Emirates, which is also part of the Arabian Peninsula, they have a peace treaty with Israel. So does Bahrain. So does Jordan. So does Egypt. The Saudis don’t have the deal. Not formally, but effectively they want calm, quiet, and even peace with Israel.”

While he emphasizes that no direct prophecy guarantees a Saudi-Israeli peace treaty, Rosenberg believes today’s developments are aligning closely with Ezekiel’s picture of a secure and prosperous Israel, setting the stage for events that point to the last days.

A massive explosion erupted aboard a cargo ship in Baltimore’s harbor, near the site of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, officials said Monday.

The vessel, identified as the W-Sapphire by CBS News, is a 751-foot bulk carrier registered in Liberia.

It had 23 crew members and two pilots on board, none of whom were injured.

The ship was hauling coal and leaving the harbor when an explosion occurred, according to officials in the city.

Videos show the dramatic moment flames engulfed the vessel, sending smoke billowing into the sky.

The U.S. Coast Guard said it was responding to reports of the explosion in a statement.

“The U.S. Coast Guard and partners are responding to reports of an explosion aboard the merchant vessel W-Sapphire while it was outbound from Baltimore Harbor, Monday,” the statement read.

As of Tuesday morning, the Fort McHenry Federal Channel remained closed.

Port officials said the Coast Guard would decide when the channel can reopen.

A source said the ship was able to sail unassisted to port to anchor.

Jay Steinmetz and his son, Sam Steinmetz, were sailing in the Patapsco River when they heard the blast.

“We were out sailing, and we heard a really loud explosion,” Jay Steinmetz told CBS News. “We turned around, and there was a 200-foot plume of smoke. We are like, ‘Holy crap.’ Within two or five minutes, we hear, ‘Mayday, mayday.’”

His son added, “We thought it was them doing demolition on the Key Bridge. We had just passed under the bridge, and the Sapphire ship had passed right by us. It was right next to the bridge, where it happened.”

“You are not sure how many people are on that boat entirely, but it was a big explosion and there was a huge cloud of smoke,” he continued.

The pair said they wanted to help, but saw other vessels racing toward the cargo ship.

In July, crews began demolition on the remaining portions of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

The bridge collapsed in March 2024 after the container ship Dali, suffering electrical failures, struck a pier and killed six workers.

Months after the U.S. Department of Education rescinded its historic fine against Grand Canyon University (GCU), a Christian college in Phoenix, Arizona, the school has scored another major victory: a separate lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) was also dropped.

The FTC sued GCU in late 2023, alleging the school deceived students about costs associated with doctoral studies and had engaged in what it saw as illegal telemarketing practices. At the time, the FTC said the “university, its marketer, and its CEO deceptively advertised the cost and course requirements of its doctoral programs and its nonprofit status, and made illegal calls to consumers.”

That lawsuit, which originated just months after the Department of Education levied its own defunct fine, is now officially suspended.

“The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) voted unanimously [Friday] to dismiss its lawsuit against Grand Canyon University’s largest service provider — Grand Canyon Education — and Brian Mueller, ending years of coordinated lawfare by government officials under the Biden Administration against the largest Christian university in the country,” a GCU statement sent to CBN News read.

All parties have reportedly filed a joint Stipulation of Dismissal with Prejudice with the court. FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson joined Commissioners Melissa Holyoak and Mark R. Meador in releasing a statement confirming the news.

“This case, which we inherited from the previous administration, was filed nearly two years ago and has suffered losses in two motions to dismiss,” the statement read, going on to note the recent Department of Education victory as well. “In its reduced form, this case presents consumers very little upside relative to the cost of pursuing it to completion.”

Commissioners said recent victories for GCU make it “imprudent to continue expending Commission resources on a lost cause.” Citing a duty to taxpayers, the FTC said it decided to stop pursuing the case. GCU sees this as yet another victory.

GCU President Brian Mueller also spoke out on the matter in a statement, pushing back on allegations levied against his college and affirming his belief that the lawsuits were part of a “coordinated effort by former officials within the Biden Administration to undermine a thriving Christian university.”

“As we have stated from the beginning, not only were these accusations false, but the opposite is true,” he said. “We go above and beyond what is required in our disclosures and are recognized as a leader in this area.”

Mueller continued, “They threw everything they had at us for four years, and yet, despite every unjust accusation leveled against us, we have not only survived but have continued to thrive as a university. That is a testament, first and foremost, to the strength and dedication of our faculty, staff, students and their families. Above all, it speaks to our unwavering belief that the truth would ultimately prevail.”

Mueller made similar claims earlier this year, telling CBN News in May he believes the government was unfairly targeting his school. At the time, he was heralding the dismissal of the massive $37.7 million fine from the Education Department.

At the same time, the Department of Education also confirmed the decision to CBN News and a spokesperson pledged not to “persecute and prosecute colleges and universities based on their religious affiliation,” accusing the previous administration of doing so.

GCU’s years-long battle with the Department of Education caught more media attention than the FTC battle due to the historic size and scope of the fine, with the Biden administration taking what Mueller saw as an aggressive approach.

“This thing all started six years ago, when we reverted to our nonprofit status and it was approved by everybody, and including the [Internal Revenue Service], who has the authority to do it — and the expertise to do it,” he told CBN in May. “And so we tried to work with the [Education] Department because everybody else approved our nonprofit status, which was important for a lot of reasons to the university.”

GCU’s clash with the government started years ago — and quickly went south when the parties couldn’t come to an understanding. Mueller said GCU ended up filing a complaint when the school wasn’t making progress with the Department of Education, a move he believes sparked more problems for the school.

“Once we filed a complaint, they started retaliation and they opened up five different investigations that literally [have] cost us millions of dollars to defend ourselves,” he said. “They looked at thousands, and thousands, and thousands of documents and eventually centered on, ‘We think you misled your doctoral students around the time and cost to complete degree.’”

Mueller insisted there was nothing nefarious or misleading going on surrounding the doctoral program and GCU refused to pay the fine.

“Obviously, we’re not going to accept that,” he said. “Not only did they say we misled them, but they fined us $37 million, which was the largest fine in the history of the Department of Education. We said that we were not in the mood to negotiate a single penny of that.”

Mueller continued, “We wouldn’t pay even a dollar, because, not only is it not true, the opposite is true.”

He said the Trump administration “took a fresh look” at the fine and the case and decided to drop it, stating the Department of Education now believes there’s “absolutely no substantial evidence here that … GCU misled any students.”

“They reversed the decision, which was obviously a huge win for us,” Mueller said. “We’re not surprised by it. We thought that that would happen, but we’re thankful that that happened.”

After that earlier victory, Mueller said the IRS conducted an additional audit of GCU’s nonprofit status and found everything to be in order, marking another “major win” for the school. The FTC win seems to have officially closed the long chapter on GCU’s clash with the federal government.

When asked if he believes the now-dismissed, massive Education Department fine was motivated by anti-religious or political biases, Mueller responded that he “absolutely” believes it was.

“There is no other substantial reason for the incredible attacks that they’ve levied,” he said, noting GCU has had bipartisan support.

Despite mounting evidence of Hamas atrocities, Albanese continues to defend the internationally recognized terrorist group. Albanese told The Guardian that Palestinians had “already won the legitimacy battle,” while accusing Israel of “genocide” and calling for embargoes on trade and weapons sales.

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that 71% of Americans believe artificial intelligence will permanently eliminate too many jobs, confirming widespread fears that automation poses a long-term threat to the U.S. workforce. The national survey, conducted from August 13 to 18, included responses from 4,446 adults and highlights a deep skepticism toward the future role of AI in society.

The data reveals broad concern across employment, politics, ethics and environmental impact—issues that are gaining urgency as AI continues expanding into key sectors of the economy.

The strongest concern among respondents centered on job displacement. More than seven in 10 said they feared AI would permanently replace human labor across industries. The concern crosses political and demographic lines, with only a small minority expressing confidence that new job categories would offset those losses.

Beyond employment, 77% of those polled expressed fear over AI’s ability to generate politically manipulative deepfake videos and false narratives, posing risks to elections and democratic stability. The study also found that 61% are worried about the energy demands of AI systems, which require massive computing power and contribute to increased electricity consumption and environmental strain.

A reporter asked him, “What security guarantees do you need from President Trump to be able to make a deal? Is it American troops, intelligence, equipment, what is it?” And Zelenskyy replied, “Everything. It depends on the big countries, on the United States, on, on a lot of our friends.”
