Has Chick-fil-A Gone ‘Woke’ Like Some Claim?

Chick-fil-A has built a dominant brand at the peak of the fast-food industry based on good food, great service and in the minds of Christians throughout the country, its adherence to biblical principles.

Now there are accusations that the makers of “God’s chicken” have abandoned those values and instead bowed down to cultural pressure. The recent flurry of criticism is based on a statement made by Chick-fil-A, viewable on its website, that promotes the company’s purpose as “Committed to being Better at Together,” and has sent some conservatives into an uproar.

The statement begins by saying:

“Chick-fil-A’s Corporate Purpose is ‘To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.'”

Sounds like that has been their motto for some time now, and nothing new there. First and foremost, before all other things, their goal is to glorify God.

The statement continues:

“Our founder, Truett Cathy, believed that ‘a great company is a caring company,’ and since the beginning, care has been at the center of everything we do. We understand that the path toward Better at Together looks different for every business. At Chick-fil-A, Inc., our commitment is to approach this work with intention and humility, always believing the best in one another and striving for common ground. We’re early on in our journey, but we’re honored by the opportunity to steward our organization’s greatest asset—our people—and are energized by the road ahead.”

Caring for people, having sympathy, respect and love for one another, is straight from the Bible.

Jesus cared about people, not the religiosity that had infected the Jewish leaders of His time.

Chick-fil-A, like every major company in the United States, does have a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion VP, Erick McReynolds. McReynolds assumed the role back in 2021 however, and nothing has changed with the company. He has also been with the company for over 16 years according to his LinkedIn profile, and is well aware of what the company stands for.

McReynolds also posted a statement on the company’s website:

“Chick-fil-A restaurants have long been recognized as a place where people know they will be treated well. Modeling care for others starts in the restaurant, and we are committed to ensuring mutual respect, understanding and dignity everywhere we do business. These tenets are good business practice and crucial to fulfilling our Corporate Purpose.”

McReynolds VP DEI

The ‘woke’ movement may be trying to co-opt words like “respect” and “dignity” but the Christian church has been living that for a long time now.

To “love one another” is a commandment from Jesus Christ, and the early church was founded on living in spiritual unity with one another. These are not tenets of ‘wokeness’ which divides, accuses and tears down anything that is in the way of the ideology.

There are three areas of “focus” that Chick-fil-A lists on its DEI page, and they are notably different from what a customer will find with other major corporations.

The areas are: ensuring equal (not equitable) access; valuing differences; and creating a culture of belonging.

America has always fought for equality, including a Civil War, so that others may be free, but equality is not the same as being equitable. Equality allows for everyone to start at the same spot, and through hard work and perseverance, the cream will rise to the top, not be stifled and hindered because the outcome is not equitable.

Jesus’ disciples had to learn to lean on and value one another. There are instances of conflict in the Bible, take Paul and John Mark, Paul and Peter or even all of the disciples arguing who was the greatest among them. Valuing one another and the unique perspective each person brings to the table is not ‘woke,’ it is called team-building and is one of the many reasons Chick-fil-A is successful today.

Creating a culture of belonging has, and continues to be, a problem for the church today. Being kind is not ‘woke,’ having understanding while someone makes errors in the learning process is not ‘woke,’ and creating a workplace culture that allows people to grow and thrive and progress is one of the most capitalist things a company can do!

Are there keywords that have been used in the statements Chick-fil-A has put out that triggered the ‘outrage posse’ on social media? Sure. But if people would take the time to sit down and read what they are saying exactly, it is far from the DEI initiatives that have corrupted the American university system and caused corporations to target children with gender ideology and LGBTQ products.

America cannot afford to allow the ‘woke’ movement to co-opt words such as kindness, respect or dignity, for if they do, these qualities will disappear from society and become mere dogwhistles for the radical left. {eoa}

Morning Rundown: Charismatic Megachurch Assumes Leadership of Historic Evangelical Church

Here’s a quick summary of the top stories on :

Charismatic Megachurch Assumes Leadership of Historic Evangelical Church

Destiny Christian Church (DCC) has announced that their first satellite campus will be the historic Capital Christian Center (CCC) in Sacramento, California.

This move by the charismatic megachurch in Rocklin, California, will assist the financially struggling CCC and the large Christian school associated with the church.

“Destiny Christian Church and Capital Christian Center share over 130 years of ministry in the Sacramento region. We have the same heartbeat to preach the Gospel, teach biblical truth and give people hope. A couple months ago, Pastor Rick Cole and Pastor Greg Fairrington began to dialogue about a formal ministry collaboration. Our priority has always been about the stability, unity and health of the ministry,” the announcement reads.

Hundreds Gather on Pensacola Beach to Pray, Worship, Receive Christ: ‘We’re Just Getting Started’

Hundreds gathered at Pensacola Beach on Memorial Day weekend to pray, worship and give their lives to Jesus Christ.

More than 30 people were baptized and dozens of others received salvation during Sean Feucht’s latest stop in Pensacola, Fl.

“A new JESUS PEOPLE Movement is here,” he wrote on social media.

Rick Joyner Hospitalized Following Series of Strokes

On Friday, May 26, MorningStar Ministries founder Rick Joyner suffered a series of strokes.

Acting President of MorningStar Ministries and Lead Pastor of MorningStar Church Chris Reed made the announcement on Pentecost Sunday:

“Our founder, Rick Joyner, had a stroke. It seemed that he had a succession of mini-strokes that, after the MRI was confirmed, he had a stroke on the right side of his brain. He’s in the hospital and Julia is of course with him and his family,” Reed told the MorningStar congregation. {eoa}

MLB Players Speak Out Against Group Dodgers Look to Honor

For all the talk Major League Baseball has done about welcoming fans of all backgrounds and faiths, the Los Angeles Dodgers superbly alienated millions of fans within their own city and across the country.

In their back and forth of inviting, then disinviting, then re-inviting the anti-Catholic group the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” they have riled Christian and Catholic players within the league who are taking a stand against the bigotry and hatred the group represents.

Two of the Dodgers’ own players, pitchers Clayton Kershaw and Blake Treinen, have spoken out against the club inviting the ‘Sisters’ and presenting them with an award for community service.

Treinen asked his friend, worship leader and evangelist Sean Feucht, to share a letter he wrote on social media condemning the Dodgers’ decision and stating publicly it is because of his belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior:

Kershaw criticized the team’s decision to host the group due to the disrespect and mockery of faith that is the foundation of the group’s existence.

“I don’t agree with making fun of other people’s religions,” Kershaw says. “It has nothing to do with anything other than that. I just don’t think that, no matter what religion you are, you should make fun of somebody else’s religion. So that’s something that I definitely don’t agree with.

“This has nothing to do with the LGBTQ community or Pride or anything like that,” Kershaw adds. “This is simply a group that was making fun of a religion, that I don’t agree with.”

In response to the severe backlash, Kershaw and the Dodgers announced a “Christian Faith Day” later in the season.

“I think we were always going to do Christian Faith Day this year, but I think the timing of our announcement was sped up,” Kershaw told the Los Angeles Times on Monday. “Picking a date and doing those different things was part of it as well. Yes, it was in response to the highlighting of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence [by the Dodgers].”

The most vocal opponent to the Dodgers decision has been devout Catholic and pitcher for the Washington Nationals, Trevor Williams:

Williams released a statement condemning the Dodgers and for violating their own Discrimination Policy which explicitly states, “Any conduct or attire at the ballpark that is deemed to be indecent or prejudice against any particular group (or religion) is not tolerated.

“It seems that the Dodgers have made an exception in this case,” wrote Williams. “Doubling down that this group—which grossly disrespects and openly mocks many of the traditions and beliefs that Catholics hold most dear—should be celebrated.”

These are just a few of the players, fans and organizations who claim to be targeted, ostracized and insulted by the Dodgers’ decision to honor the group.

For those of faith who are speaking truth in love, Treinen summed up his position on the matter up perfectly:

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” (Josh. 24:15).

Matthew Barnett: 4 Ways Your Identity in Christ Leads to Mental Wellness

Young adulthood is thought of as a time of exploration and growth, a time when individuals begin to carve out their own paths and make their mark on the world. However, for young adults, this time can also be marked by significant mental health issues and difficulty with overcoming them.

Many are battling these challenges right now. It could include you.

Factors Contributing to Mental Health Issues

Mental health issues are common among young adults, with many experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression and other disorders. According to a report by the National Institute of Mental Health, one in five young adults aged 18-25 experienced a mental illness in the past year. This is a significant increase from previous generations and highlights the need for greater support and alternative approaches to help young adults struggling with mental health challenges.

There are a number of factors that contribute to these mental health challenges. These include academic and financial pressures, social isolation and loneliness, difficulty navigating the transition to adulthood or lack of self-fulfillment. Sound familiar? In addition, many young adults are still developing their sense of identity and purpose, which can lead to feelings of confusion, self-doubt and anxiety.

A Heart of Servitude

Despite these challenges, you have a powerful resource in your identity in Christ. Faith and service to others can provide a sense of purpose and grounding, a reminder of their inherent worth and value and a source of strength in difficult times. You can tap into your identity in Christ by serving those who are disadvantaged just like Christ did.

I firmly believe that one of the best ways to reverse course on mental health challenges is considering the needs of those around us.

Here are four ways to help you find your identity in Christ and overcome mental health challenges:

  • Embrace your worth and value in Christ. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the pressures of life and the messages we receive from the world around us. However, as Christians, we are reminded that we are loved and valued by God, no matter what. By embracing this truth, you can find the confidence and self-assurance you need to navigate life’s challenges. As we read in Hebrews 10:35-36, “Do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.”
  • Rest in His presence. When we get to know God, we get to learn how much He loves us, which enables us to trust Him more. When we surrender all of our problems to Him, we renew our minds with the Word and trust in His promises. Then we truly do what we are created to do, which is to be obedient to Him and His word, surrender our burdens and worries and enjoy life and His creation.
  • Find community and support. You don’t have to face mental health challenges alone. Find a supportive community of fellow Christians and build relationships that provide encouragement, accountability and a sense of belonging. Join a small group at a local church, participate in a Bible study, or volunteer at Christ-centered non-profit organizations! There are many opportunities to connect with others who share your faith and struggles.
  • Consider long-term solutions. Consistency is key. Whether you are new to the Christian faith or have been a Christian since childhood, discovering your identity in Christ will be a journey. Consider joining a discipleship program, finding a steady mentor, or embarking on long-term mission trips. Join other young adults from all over the country to build your confidence, gain leadership skills and spark your passion. If you are unsure of what your next move will be as you enter your adult years, see if the Dream Center’s available experiences for young adults from all walks of life are a good fit for you.

Step Out and be a Blessing to Others

Serving others may not permanently solve depression and anxiety, but it will benefit someone while taking your mind off of your negative thoughts and problems. Nothing leaves you with more satisfaction than giving back, whether that’s to a family member, a neighbor or someone halfway around the globe.

Step out, even in your pain, and find a way to bless just one person around you. There are countless ways to help, even in your own backyard. It will impact you just as much as it helps our neighbors, and you may just discover your calling in life.

Serving and surrounding yourself with others is not a “one size fits all” approach. But something that is true for all of us is the fact that you are loved, you are worthy and everyone’s journey to discover their identity in Christ will take time. When you are ready to take the first step, He will be waiting with open arms and His strength will sustain you on that journey.

Here’s how the LA Dream Center is doing its part to combat the mental health and other cultural issues of today. {eoa}

5 Steps to Succeed Over Secret Sin

When I first came to Christ, a tract titled “I’ll Never Tell Anyone I Have a Problem With…” caught my attention. I was not alone. It helped multitudes get free from sexual sin.

When we face besetting sins that seem to have a stranglehold on our lives, it can seem like we’ll never break through to victory. Yet if we align with His will, draw upon His grace daily and continue to persevere in faith, we can succeed!

Does this apply to the seductions of sexual sin? What about masturbation? For those who have walked this path, it can be an agonizing and guilt-producing experience, crippling one’s relationship with God.

There is hope! There is also the authoritative promise of the Bible enabling us to face this area with unwavering confidence: “No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Cor. 10:13).

Society Encourages This

A well-intentioned leader attempts to bring relief to individuals ensnared in masturbation saying, “Periodic release of sexual tension through masturbation may be OK for the single person… Compulsive masturbation is a sin; periodic release of sexual tension when you don’t have a spouse is not.” This is mild compared to propaganda in public schools today on this subject along with acceptance of pornography, recreational marijuana and sexual activity.

Here’s the Biblical perspective that can bring liberation to multitudes struggling specifically with solo sex. I also encourage everyone to watch the 4-minute video on the topic, “Masturbation” and read chapter 14 in my companion book, “Bullseye.”

5 Transformative Truths

1. Guard against justifying sinful behavior.

All of us need to be careful we don’t yield to rationalization in difficult areas of the Christian life. Scripture teaches that “The heart is more deceitful than all things and desperately wicked; who then can understand it?” (Jer. 17:9).

Due to our fallen nature, all of us have the proclivity to find ingenious excuses for unrighteous behavior.

How many times have I engaged in conversations with professing Christians who find amazingly clever ways to justify indulging in casual sex; smoking marijuana; consenting to an abortion; sexting; living together (“ours are special circumstances which God understands”): or viewing sexually explicit films and even a gay/homosexual lifestyle.

2. Resist dangerous deception to disregard biblical standards.

In our sex-saturated culture there are a multitude of voices sharing their perspectives. Liberal Christian ministers seeking popularity proclaim, “Masturbation is actually a gift of God” (exact quote).

Today sex-education classes, advice columnists and even the World Health Organization encourage masturbation, plus abortion and homosexuality, to children and teens worldwide. Doesn’t it make sense to have sound, biblical counsel amidst all the questionable advice bombarding us from every corner?

A Biblical worldview on sexuality seems foolish to pop-culture proponents, yet to those desiring to please God and live holy it brings peace, joy and freedom! Ephesians 5:3, 12 calls us to jettison any “sexual immorality, or any impurity” and, “For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.”

3. Scripture celebrates sexual pleasure between married partners.

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven… a time to embrace and a time to refrain… He has made everything beautiful in its appropriate time” (Eccl. 3:1;5;11).

God “richly gives us all things to enjoy” (1 Tim. 6:17) but instructs us, “Do not stir up or awaken love” before the proper time. (Song 8:4)

4. God’s wisdom directs the unmarried to develop self-control (Gal.5:23) preparing us for a successful marriage.

“You remember the instructions we gave you in the name of the Lord Jesus. God’s plan is to make you holy, and that entails first of all a clean-cut with sexual immorality. Every one of you should learn to control his body, keeping it pure and treating it with respect” (1 Thess.4:2-4, J.B. Phillips).

What is the primary reason marriages break up? Sexual problems? Adultery? Anger and abuse? Financial issues? Emotional problems? No, the number one reason is simply a lack of self-control which adversely impacts all these areas.

Proverbs 25:28 reminds us, “He who has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls.”

In marriage one must also forgo sexual activity because of sickness, pregnancy or travel. Self-controlled individuals who cultivate this character quality before marriage reap the dividends in marriage! I say this from the perspective of over 47 years of a wonderful covenant marriage in Christ!

5. Jesus came to forgive sins and free us from sin’s power (Rom. 6:6-7)!

Scores of Christians suffer from addiction to sexual sin and needless condemnation because they’ve never been taught this unbelievable, biblical reality. Like slaves who were ignorant of the Emancipation Proclamation or believed it simply was too good to be true, followers of Jesus can remain ensnared by besetting sins until they grasp this life-changing truth.

Christians are not to be mastered by anything—that includes masturbation! Scripture cautions us about individuals who “entice by the lusts of the flesh” promising “freedom” but keeping people in sexual bondage because “by that which a man is overcome, to this he is enslaved” (2 Pet. 2:18-19). Jesus told us if we ” remain in My word… You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free (John 8:31-32)!

Reject the Lies and Rise to Victory!

It’s a lie when we hear: “There’s nothing sinful or harmful about pornography or masturbation. It’s just a natural way to relieve sexual tension and pleasure oneself.”

It’s also a lie to believe, “I’m trapped. I can’t stop. I’ll never break free from this unforgivable sin.”

Here’s the Deal: If you’re tired of Satan manipulating you to walk in defeat, condemnation and uncleanness, then reject his lies, repent of unbelief and passivity regarding this temptation being too difficult to overcome.

Like Job, make a “covenant with my eyes” (Job 31:1). “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart…” (2 Tim. 2:22). Spend consistent time in the Word of God (“How shall a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to your Word” ().

Don’t plan to fall, but if you do, immediately arise to repent, receive forgiveness and continue your journey to live in victory. You “can do all things because of Christ who strengthens you” (Phil. 4:13)! {eoa}

Morning Rundown: Rick Joyner Hospitalized Following Series of Strokes

Here’s a quick rundown of the top stories on :

Rick Joyner Hospitalized Following a Series of Strokes

On Friday, May 26, MorningStar Ministries founder Rick Joyner suffered a series of strokes.

Acting President of MorningStar Ministries and Lead Pastor of MorningStar Church Chris Reed made the announcement on Pentecost Sunday:

“Our founder, Rick Joyner, had a stroke. It seemed that he had a succession of mini-strokes that, after the MRI was confirmed, he had a stroke on the right side of his brain. He’s in the hospital and Julia is of course with him and his family,” Reed told the MorningStar congregation.

Americans Do Not Like Megachurches or Celebrity Pastors

There appears to be a large divide between how people view Jesus compared to how they view His followers.

Jesus is viewed quite favorably by most people, not just by Christians but also members of other faiths. When it comes to Christians however, especially in examples such as megachurches and celebrity pastors, the opinions sour rapidly, even among the Christian community.

In a national survey conducted by the Barna Group, the third part of their “Spiritually Open” series, 2,005 U.S. teens and adults were asked from December 13-22, 2022, if they had positive views on a variety of aspects of Christianity.

“He has experienced some measure of loss of feeling on the left side, and to what extent or degree that is [unknown]. …He has increased movement now on his left side [since Friday],” continues Reed.

With such an event Reed asked for prayers for Joyner and his family, but also to respect their privacy as they navigate the healing process.

Calls for prayer echoed across social media as many, such as Apostle David E. Taylor, have been touched by Rick Joyner and his obedience to the call of ministry over the years.

“I’m posting this because I know the Body of Christ has been greatly touched by the life and ministry of Rick Joyner for so many years, and I know how powerful the prayer of agreement is!” Taylor wrote in a Facebook post.

“‘Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them,’ (Matt. 18:19-20).”

‘Princess’ With Mustache Greets Little Girls at Disneyland Boutique

Families visiting Disneyland recently were in for a surprise when they were met by one of the “Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices.”

Turns out it was a grown man with a mustache.

The Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique is designed for young girls and offers “magical makeovers for royalty-in-training ages 3 to 12.”

The task for these “Fairy Godmother Apprentices” is to help young girls select their princess dresses and get princess makeovers.

The video of the man working the entrance to the boutique shows him taking a little girl by the hand and inputting information into a tablet device.

Other videos of the Disney employee show him moving about the facility sprinkling what appears to be pixie dust on park attendees from a wand.

Disney used to have a strict policy when it came to grooming standards for men and women. Now, they do not appear to differentiate between the two and allow facial hair and tattoos on male employees, within certain standards.

Rule changes to be more “inclusive” were made in 2022, as Inside the Magic reported that “Boutique Cast Members were formerly called ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’ but will now be called ‘Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices,’ according to an update on Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort’s websites.

“This change is more gender inclusive and will allow Cast Members who don’t identify as female to participate in magical Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers.

“This is just one of the many ways Disney is trying to push more inclusivity. Recently Disney changed the opening to the fireworks shows as they removed the phrase ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls.’ Disney Cast Members also have a less strict dress code as it, too, has become more gender-inclusive.”

Amidst losing millions of Disney+ subscribers, firing Bob Chapek to bring back the man who started it all Bob Iger, live-action remakes of movies no one wants, mishandling Lucasfilm to the point of losing billions and creating a ‘woke’ Marvel universe that has lost millions of fans, it is safe to say that Disney is committed to promoting their gender ideologies regardless what their customer base otherwise may prefer. {eoa}

Police and Jews Clash During ‘Pentecost Protests’

A Sunday morning clash erupted between dozens of Israelis, many of them Orthodox Jews, and Christians who the Israelis claimed were proselytizing at the Western Wall.

The Christians were part of the Pentecost 2023 Global Day of Prayer for Jerusalem and the Nations, a movement meant launch a decade of prayer and evangelism that seeks to see “100 million people praying, praising, exalting Jesus over the nations” with a “prayer focus on Jerusalem, Israel and Jewish people worldwide” according to the Pentecost 2023 website.

The event angered Israelis who viewed it as an insult to evangelize outside of the Davidson Center in the Old City portion of Jerusalem, in another example of strained relations between Orthodox Jews and Christianity in Israel.

Recently, ultra-Orthodox leaders in the Knesset, including Moshe Gafni, introduced anti-Christian legislation that said “soliciting someone to convert their faith should be punishable by one year in prison and solicitation to convert a minor would be punishable with a two-year sentence,” according to the Associated Press.

“Recently, the attempts of missionary groups, mainly Christians, to solicit conversion of religion have increased,” the legislation read, highlighting Christians as the main source for the bill’s purpose.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu brought the case to a close when he tweeted, “We will not advance any law against the Christian community.” The bill’s presence alone highlighted the growing divide between the Orthodox community and evangelical Christians, some of Israel’s most ardent supporters.

Several of the protesters told The Jerusalem Post that it was the words on the Pentecost 2023 website that they objected to the most, including calls for their salvation and converting them to Christianity.

One of the deputy mayors of Jerusalem and organizers of the protest, Aryeh King, claimed that the location of the Pentecost 2023 event “has nothing to do with Christianity, but actually with Judaism.

“Missionary terrorism is as dangerous as Islamic terrorism,” King said, adding that he has met “at least three of the participants at today’s demonstration who are Israelis that converted to Christianity.

“Do you think they would have allowed the Jews to hold a prayer service at the entrance to the Vatican? Or in Mecca? This is a provocation,” he adds.

The protesters were condemned by many within Israel, including Israel’s Foreign Affairs Ministry that said it “condemns any violation of freedom of religion and worship in Jerusalem and any violence against religious officials in the city. The State of Israel considers freedom of religion and worship in Jerusalem which is holy to Jews, Christians and Muslims, a central value to the fabric of life in the city.”

One deputy mayor, Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, condemned the words of King and the actions of the protesters, saying it was not the groups intent to “missionize” and that much of the anger from the right-wing protestors was due to “misinformation.”

“We have to fight constant delegitimization of the State of Israel by the foreign press, and for once we have press which is pro-Israel, from the Christian channels,” Hassan-Nahoum said. These Christians “are trying to show Israel in the best possible light.”

Hassan-Nahoum also tweeted her support for the Christian meeting, writing, “I condemn the demonstration today against our Christian Zionist friends who come to support our country and our eternal capital #Jerusalem…”

The Anti-Defamation League also issued a response to the protests, saying, “the undeniable Jewish connection to the holy city must never justify excluding others from practicing their own beliefs and express their heritage.”

Regardless of the actions of a few dozen protesters, the Word of God is filled with an abundance of Scripture to bless and pray for the peace and protection of Jerusalem and Israel.

Even when there is resistance to doing so. {eoa}
