Why Do Prophets Have Such Difficulty With Timing?

At this time, the church, and more specifically the remnant, is more dependent on prophets than ever before. It is the part of the fivefold ministry that is most needed; God says in His Word “Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing His purpose to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7), and here we are in the latter days with circumstances changing dramatically and the need to hear from the Lord our God more than ever.

Almost 40 years ago, I attended and served at a prophet’s conference located in Prince William Forest Park, Triangle, Virginia. The leader was an apostle and prophet by the name of Dr. Costa Deir. He was holding the conference to train young prophets in what to expect and encounter in their calling and destinies in ministry. One of the main takeaways from that conference was the concept that prophets most often got timing wrong. Deir described that when a prophet receives a word from the Lord, he must wait upon the Lord to understand as much as he can about “who, what, when, where, why and how.” In his waiting, he may not obtain all that information, but he needs to be receptive to gather as much information as possible. For example, who does the prophet give the information to? When does he deliver it? How does he deliver it?

Nonetheless, Deir pointed out that in matters of the Spirit, the prophet sees and hears things from heaven where there is no time. Hence, what he sees or hears, he expects to occur on the earth in the present time; however, it may take 20 years or more for what he sees to occur. In truth, it may not even occur in his lifetime.

Many of us have seen and heard prophets speak things in 2020 and 2021 that did not come to pass when they were expected to occur. This is particularly true in the political realm. Promises were made, dates were exchanged … yet, nothing happened. At least, nothing appeared to have happened in the natural realm. President Trump was not elected on Nov. 3, 2020. December came and went. Jan. 6 came and went; Jan. 20 came and went.

Personally, I prophesied to a friend of mine one year before the election that Donald Trump would win by a landslide. The election came, and it appeared that Biden was elected president, despite evidence of fraud in the election process. So, I asked the Lord if I was wrong? No, my Father said to me. President Donald Trump did win by a landslide; He told me He counted the votes! The reality in which we live in is that the truth has not caught up with the reality yet. I still believe in the truth; though, I don’t know how or when it will occur. How about you? Be not afraid! Press into the Father’s heart, and you will be comforted!

What May Be Keeping God From Answering Your Prayers

Have you ever prayed to God and then wondered, Now what?

“Did it work? Did God hear me? Is there anything that I need to do now?”

The short answer is yes.

Most of us spend the better part of our prayer life focused on what to say. But what if the answer to most of our questions about prayer was actually more about what we do?

When you look at how Jesus responded to people’s requests, most of the time the work was not done when they asked; It had only just begun.

In my latest book After Amen: What to do When You’re Waiting on God, I go over 7 things Jesus tells us to do. (You can even get it on Audible!)

What’s interesting is that the Gospels not only tell us what to do after we pray, but they even explain to us why God may not answer us in the first place.

In the most recent episode of my podcast Leading Simple on the Charisma Podcast Network, we go over one very common thing that keeps God from even considering our prayers (take a listen here).

And spoiler alert: It’s something we can fix pretty quickly. {eoa}

CN Morning Rundown: State Government Bullying: ‘Make No Mistake, This Is a Second Holocaust’

Here’s a quick summary of the top stories on :

State Government Bullying: ‘Make No Mistake, This Is a Second Holocaust’

Thousands of Orange County residents publicly made their outrage known about the objective of a mandatory vaccination and exploitation of their children by public school and county officials. As a result, both the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Orange County Board of Education passed resolutions last week by a 4-1 margin, halting local government and bureaucratic encroachment and overreach under the aegis of vaccinations and digital vaccine passports.

Orange County human rights attorney Leigh Dundas addressed in no uncertain terms the despotic hectoring and blue state government bullying: “Make no mistake, this a second holocaust my friends. Hitler did not start by burning people in ovens; that’s where he ended. The first thing he did to consolidate power is that he closed ‘nonessential’ businesses, as did Gov. Newsom in my state [California]. The second thing he did was to close schools because they are the heart of the family.

“He [Hitler] marked the people he didn’t like so he could segregate them and discriminate against them … and do worse. And this week in Orange County, California, the little cattle car came to our town. Hitler started by changing 400 laws in the first 6 years in his reign of power and my governor [Newsom] changed 400 laws in the first 6 months.”

Court Drops Charges Against Chicago Churches for COVID Violations

The city of Chicago has dismissed both “disorderly conduct and mob action” citations against Pastor Cristian Ionescu of Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church and Pastor Florin Cimpean of Philadelphia Romanian Church for holding a morning and an evening service on May 17, 2020. The pastors were charged for having more than 10 people in their large sanctuaries for worship.

Liberty Counsel represents Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church and Logos Baptist Ministries, and will file a motion for summary judgment to the lower district court in their federal lawsuit against Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker. The churches are returning to the district court with the now overwhelming number of decisions from the Supreme Court and other federal courts of appeal striking down discriminatory executive orders against churches and places of worship.

This past Sunday, Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church dedicated its new building which seats 1200 people. Liberty Counsel vice president of legal affairs and chief litigation counsel Horatio G. Mihet spoke during the morning service and Pastor Ionescu presented him with a plaque in appreciation of Liberty Counsel’s defense for the church. Mihet was born and raised in Romania and immigrated to America with his family in 1990.

California Megachurch Pastor Says Obedience to Keep Church Open During Pandemic Made for ‘Exciting’ Time

During the COVID-19 pandemic, churches in each state in America were faced with incredible, heart-wrenching challenges. But no state, perhaps, suffered through the lockdown more than the state of California under liberal Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Charisma News has published stories on Pastor Ché Ahn’s battle with persecution to keep his church, Harvest Rock Church, in Pasadena open to continue to worship God as the Constitution freely allows us. Ahn sued Newsom for banning home Bible studies.

The state of California threatened church officials with fines and jail time, but pastors and churches stood fast through it all until a California district court lifted the ban from indoor worship just recently. {eoa}

In Wake of Leaders Leaving the Faith, Francis Chan Calls Churches to Sacredness

While many faith leaders are discussing how to best lead their church in a post-COVID era, Francis Chan addressed the Exponential Reset Summit with a call to sacredness and a return to worship. He says this is vital, especially in light of many high-profile Christians leaving the church in recent days.

“I am seeing so many people, friends of mine who were in ministry, who are just saying they don’t believe, or they’re walking away,” says Chan. “And I just think that’s crazy. We’re seeing people that we look up to, leaders, fall. We’re seeing the world look at evangelical Christianity as an absolute joke right now. Every day you can just jump on Instagram … and someone is saying, ‘I’m not a Christian anymore.'”

The Crazy Love author encourages believers to get back to the root of their faith in Christ. Too many, Chan says, have fallen into the trap found in Isaiah 29:13 (NIV), which says, “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.”

“Don’t get away from your own encounter with God,” he continues. “We have to make sure we get people to encounter Him, and that their fear of God is not just a commandment that was taught to them by us.”

The problem comes when believers spend more time in the presence of leaders than in the presence of the Lord. Chan believes we must return to a “sacred and reverent silence and awe,” and encourages Christians to recognize their “oneness” with God, especially as persecution abounds.

“The world is going to get worse; persecution is going to get worse. And when they’re alone with Him, is there enough of this awe and enjoyment of Him, and a fear of Him, that they can survive anything?” he asks.

A recent study showed the ever-increasing polarity in how generations view faith and their expression of it. While much of the older generation has kept steady in their beliefs, the poll reveals Millennials have drifted, with 46% of the age group claiming they either don’t know, don’t care or don’t believe God exists.

Of this growing trend, Dr. Michael Youssef, author of Hope for This Present Crisis, observes, “All across America and Europe, churches are emptying, and an entire generation is turning away from God. People today have many gods—money, pleasure, politics, the environment—but they no longer acknowledge the God of the Bible.”

Youssef and Chan both agree American history is at a tipping point, and it’s up to the church to spur Spirit-filled conversation that will draw lost and wandering souls back to biblical foundations.

“We have to direct people to Him,” Chan says. “We have to do a better job of bringing sacredness back into our worship.” {eoa}

The Dangers of Self-Diagnosed Gender Dysphoria

Last Sunday, CBS News featured a segment on its 60 Minutes program which highlighted the dangerous trend of quickly affirming gender dysphoria and rushing individuals through the process of sexual “transitioning.” Radical, surgical changes (including breast and testicle removal) can never be reversed, though the individuals may regret their decisions later.

Abigail Shrier, a writer for the Wall Street Journal and the author of Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, reported on Twitter that the 60 Minutes investigative segment acknowledged “the role of peer influence & social media in encouraging trans identification in teens, the rising population of de-transitioners, & a medical system that ‘affirms’ self-diagnoses of gender dysphoria in place of adequate oversight.”

Transgenderism is a dangerous and destructive ideology. And, it is about to be used to transform civil rights legislation and affect us all. Earlier this year, the so-called Equality Act was reintroduced into the U.S. House of Representatives as H.R. 5, after failing to receive Senate approval in 2019. This time, it passed the Democrat-dominated House and now waits to be considered in the Senate.

The new H.R. 5 amends Title VII of our civil rights law, among other laws, to explicitly redefine the bigender meaning of sex and add sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) as outlawed forms of discrimination.

That may sound like a good idea to many. Who would want to make discrimination legal? But H.R. 5 actually proposes profound and far-reaching changes to the 1960’s Civil Rights Act that would directly threaten religious liberty, free speech and freedom of conscience for all Americans.

How do we know? Because H.R. 5 goes out of its way to expressly exempt itself from the protections of the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which was—ironically—introduced by Congressman Chuck Schumer (D-NY). It was meant to ensure protection for religious individuals and organizations against government interference with the practice of their faith and conscience.

The Equality Act is demonstrably hostile to religion. It will force faith-based organizations to adjust their programs, open up their privacy facilities to transgender (opposite-sex) persons and revise employment policies, or be subject to punitive liability.

H.R. 5 would erase biological reality (male and female) and actually reduce, not expand, protections against discrimination, contrary to the original intent of Congress. Sanctity of life laws, parental rights and the privacy and safety of women and girls may all be in jeopardy, if “gender identity” (read ideology) is enshrined into U.S. Civil Rights law.

When the masks and face coverings last year came on, it paradoxically showed the real face of our supposed leaders and rulers in all its sanctimoniousness and rapacious lust for power. The yearning for power over others with its inevitable, destructive abuses reached in no time epidemic proportions. One of its most destructive effects were on man’s humanity to man.

Incongruously, repressing and dominating others, resulting from the lust for power and the misuse of authority, was steadfastly claimed to be “for their own good.”

In the words of C.S. Lewis (1898-1963): “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.”

Austrian medical doctor and psychotherapist Alfred Adler (1870-1937) wrote extensively on the issue of “power addiction” or “power intoxication”: “The striving for personal power is a disastrous delusion and poisons man’s living together. Whoever desires the human community must renounce the striving for power over others. … One thing can save us: the mistrust of any form of predominance. Our strength lies in conviction, in organizing strength, in a worldview, not in the violence of armament and not in emergency laws.”

Consequent to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s overbearing directives and executive orders over the past year, organizers in March submitted more than 2.1 million signatures to recall Newsom, far exceeding the 1.5 million required. Having single-handedly put millions of Californians out of work and brought catastrophic suffering and damage upon its citizens and businesses, Newsom, deservedly, will have to face California voters in 2021.

The discriminatory and unconstitutional discrepancies behind the delusive façade of “following the science” by Newsom and every tyrant blue state governor and mayor across America became unmasked last week. The District Court and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals placed a permanent injunction “against COVID restrictions on churches and places of worship. Under the agreed state-wide permanent injunction, all California churches may hold worship without discriminatory restrictions.

“Under the settlement, California may no longer impose discriminatory restrictions upon houses of worship. The governor must also pay Liberty Counsel $1,350,000 to reimburse attorney’s fees and costs.”

Maine Pastor Ken Graves wrote, “The tyrants have been served notice today. Every single governor under the influence of the spirit of antichrist, including Maine’s, just learned that they cannot win this battle. It’s costing California $ to pay Liberty Counsel the costs to fight them. LC’s foe just became their biggest donor!”

Every tyrannical governor across America, including Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Maine Gov. Janet Mills, has been placed on notice that the fix is over.

This brings us to unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats, like Dr. Anthony Fauci, along with blue state governors and mayors who have overplayed their hand in declaring places of worship “nonessential” while simultaneously classifying liquor stores, marijuana distribution centers and abortion clinics “essential.”

Former President Trump brought much of the tribulation on himself last year by embracing an illusive flatten-the-curve-approach advanced by Dr. Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx to deal with the emerging health crisis, turning it into a full-blown “panic-demic.” The president took the bait hook, line and sinker, possibly because of his goal of reelection in 2020. He enjoyed mammoth nightly ratings on the rather convincing Fauci/Birx briefings, and in the process, elevating the medical duo to celebrity status and allowing Big Pharma, Big Tech and government bureaucrats to take control.

Dr. Birx’s daughter, Laura, you may remember, was deputy director at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Birx’s husband, Paige Reffe, was director of advance planning for Bill and Hillary Clinton (1995-1996). Reffe contributed $8,100 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2015 and 2016. Elevating prominent liberals like Birx and Fauci to eminence was President Trump’s huge mistake. After all, personnel is policy.

“[If] Anthony Fauci let the coronavirus pandemic happen,” Tucker Carlson wondered, “why isn’t there a criminal investigation” for his putting 40 million Americans out of work and bankrupting American businesses, some 65% of which will never recover?

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul accused Fauci of “lying about the NIH’s involvement in funding of the Wuhan lab.”

Having abandoned the Judeo-Christian heritage, Biblically based culture and model of education established by the founders through the 17th and 18th centuries, truth and honesty are no longer at a premium in America’s culture. America’s founders certainly would not have tolerated Fauci’s antics and lying to the American people.

“Whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much,” it says in Luke 16:10. If Dr. Fauci will manipulate and doctor the numbers to gain the advantage in COVID, we may safely assume that he will lie about having no financial incentive in Big Pharma’s panic for profit vaccine scam as well as having nothing to do with the Wuhan lab. Can a leopard change his spots? (see Jeremiah 13:23).

Commenting on the habits of the deceptive, Dr. Bruce K. Waltke wrote: “A deceitful trader [in ancient Israel] carried in his pouch differing weights, a too heavy one for purchase and a too light one for selling. Dishonest merchants outwardly defraud their neighbors and inwardly deny God. The creator and upholder of the moral order is repulsed by them, and His offended moral sensibility demands His active response; otherwise, He would be relegated to the position of a spectator. Honest people, who seek His favor and find it, believe that He bestows the enduring blessings of life and prosperity.”

And to that end, thanks be to God, Gideons and Rahabs are beginning to stand. {eoa}

Shots Fired Near George Floyd Memorial, Victim in Critical Condition

The Minneapolis intersection where George Floyd died was disrupted by gunfire Tuesday, just hours before it was to be the site of a family-friendly street festival marking the anniversary of his death at the hands of police.

Associated Press video from 38th Street and Chicago Avenue — informally known as George Floyd Square — showed people running and seeking cover as shots rang out. Police said a man later showed up at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. Police spokesman John Elder said authorities believe he was injured in the shooting at the square. He was in critical condition but was expected to survive.

Philip Crowther, a reporter working for AP Global Media Services, which provides live video coverage to customers, reported hearing as many as 30 gunshots about a block east of the intersection. Crowther said a storefront window appeared to have been broken by a gunshots.

“Very quickly things got back to normal,” Crowther said. “People here who spend a significant amount of time, the organizers, were running around asking, ‘Does anyone need a medic?’ It seems like there are no injuries.”

Police said they responded to reports of gunfire at about 10:10 a.m. at the 3800 block of Elliot Ave. South. Callers told police that a vehicle was seen speeding away from the area. Elder said no one was in custody by midday Tuesday.

The intersection of 38th and Chicago has been barricaded since soon after Floyd’s death and quickly turned into a memorial — and also a challenging spot for the city, with police officers not always welcome.

The square was being transformed Tuesday into an outdoor festival on the anniversary of his death, with food, children’s activities and a long list of musical performers.

“We’re going to be turning mourning into dancing,” rapper Nur-D tweeted. “We’re going to be celebrating 365 days of strength in the face of injustice.”

Floyd, 46, who was Black, died on Memorial Day 2020 after then-Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck, pinning him to the ground for about 9 1/2 minutes. Chauvin, who is white, was convicted last month of murder and faces sentencing June 25. Three other fired officers still face trial.

The “Rise and Remember George Floyd” celebration, including a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m., caps several days of marches, rallies and panel discussions about his death and where America is in confronting racial discrimination.

In New York City, elected officials including Mayor Bill de Blasio and U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries joined the Rev. Al Sharpton in kneeling for 9 minutes and 29 seconds to commemorate Floyd’s death. “As we took a knee, imagine how long that was on a human being’s neck,” Sharpton said. “Never switched knees, just dug in. It’s time we correct policing in this country.”

Many members of the Floyd family were in Washington, D.C., and planning to meet with President Joe Biden, who called family members after the Chauvin verdict and pledged to continue fighting for racial justice.

Floyd family attorney Ben Crump said he hoped Biden will renew his support for policing reform named for George Floyd that would ban chokeholds and no-knock police raids and create a national registry for officers disciplined for serious misconduct.

“Now is time to act,” Crump said Tuesday on CNN. “Not just talk but act.”

Floyd’s brother Philonise, appearing alongside Crump, said he thinks about George “all the time.”

“My sister called me at 12 o’clock last night and said ‘This is the day our brother left us,'” he said, adding: “I think things have changed. I think it is moving slowly but we are making progress.”

Nur-D, whose real name is Matt Allen, took to the Minneapolis streets in the days after Floyd’s death, often providing medical assistance to protesters who were shot or gassed in confrontations with police. He eventually founded an organization, Justice Frontline Aid, to support safe protest.

He described the past year as “like we’ve lived 20 years inside of one” and hoped that people would feel “honesty and a real sense of togetherness” during Tuesday’s celebration.

“If you’re angry, you can be angry. If you’re sad, you can be sad,” Nur-D said in a follow-up interview. “If you’re feeling some sense of joy over the verdict and some sort of like step in the right direction, and you want to celebrate that, do that as well.”

The event was organized by the George Floyd Global Memorial. Angela Harrelson, an aunt of Floyd’s and a member of the board of directors, said the organization has stockpiled 3,000 items surrounding Floyd’s death—things like artwork left behind in the square—and will display some of them in a pop-up gallery.

Separately, the Floyd family announced the launch of a fund that will make grants to businesses and community organizations in the neighborhood where he died, as well as broader grants “encouraging the success and growth of Black citizens and community harmony.” The money comes from $500,000 earmarked as part of the city’s $27 million civil settlement for the Floyd family earlier this year.

The event at George Floyd Square was due to start at 1 p.m., the same time Gov. Tim Walz asked Minnesotans to pause for a moment of silence to honor Floyd. Walz asked that the moment last for 9 minutes, 29 seconds – the length of time that prosecutors say Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck. {eoa}

Is the Cultural Tide Turning?

In the midst of our dangerous, steady descent into cultural madness, there are signs of encouragement as well. The morally-based, rationally-grounded resistance is rising. More and more people are saying enough is enough. Even the liberal media is giving voice to this dissent.

But this is what many of us have been expecting for years, knowing that the cultural radicals would overplay their hand. A pushback has been inevitable, as witnessed by these recent examples.

First, consider this op-ed published May 24 in USA Today by Chelsea Mitchell, titled, “I was the fastest girl in Connecticut. But transgender athletes made it an unfair fight.”

She explains that, despite being ranked the fastest 55-meter female runner in her state, time after time, she has been losing big races. Why? It’s because she is now racing against biological males.

As she wrote, “I’ve lost four women’s state championship titles, two all-New England awards, and numerous other spots on the podium to transgender runners. I was bumped to third place in the 55-meter dash in 2019, behind two transgender runners. With every loss, it gets harder and harder to try again.”

This is as outrageous as it is unfair, and soon enough, it will reach the breaking point as the world’s best female athletes lose to mediocre male athletes who identify as female.

Will the next Olympic games (if they’re held soon, despite the COVID outbreak in Japan) mark that breaking point? Either way, it is coming.

Second, there are now so many young adults regretting their decision to become transgender that the last episode of Sixty Minutes devoted time to the subject of “detransitioning.”

In response to this powerful segment, one which goes against the normal, trans-celebratory mood of the liberal media, Keira Bell tweeted, “I stand behind you all, I could see how difficult that was for you all to speak on. Honest, raw and powerful. I can only hope that viewers will pay attention and read between the lines. Stop the lies.”

Naturally, trans-activists and their allies are upset with Sixty Minutes for airing these stories. But you can be sure of this: if there were not a lot of young people regretting the tragic, life-altering decisions they made, Sixty Minutes would not have offered such a sympathetic treatment.

In February of this year, Newsweek printed the gut-wrenching story of Scott Newgent, herself a female to male (FTM) transgender. The op-ed was titled, “We Need Balance When It Comes To Gender Dysphoric Kids. I Would Know.”

Newgent ended the article with this powerful plea: “I am currently building a bipartisan army to protect our children, hold the medical industry accountable and educate our president and the rest of society about the dangers of transgender extremism. We must throw our differences aside for a moment; I promise you, once children are safe, we can resume fighting. But until children are safe, nothing else matters.”

Newgent and I have since interacted several times, since she is totally serious about working together across ideological lines for the good of these children. The diverse coalition is growing.

What is tragic, though, is that it took two years for Newgent to find a major, secular publication willing to carry her well-documented article. What is positive is that Newsweek did decide to publish it. These stories must be told and will be told. As a result, the pushback will only intensify.

Fourth, a retired professor has been removed from an American Psychological Association email discussion group after challenging the idea that there are more than two biological sexes.

As reported by College Fix, “John Staddon, an emeritus professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke University, was taken off the Society for Behavioral Neuroscience and Comparative Psychology Division 6 listserv overseen by the APA.” (This group is devoted to “studying the biology of behavior. Their focus is on behavior and its relation to perception, learning, memory, cognition, motivation and emotion.”)

As Staddon explained, “This incident just illustrates the current inability of some scientific communities to tolerate dissent about issues related to sex and race. Psychology and sociology seem to be especially flawed in this respect.”

According to Staddon, what likely got him taken off was this post: “Hmm… Binary view of sex false? What is the evidence? Is there a Z chromosome?”

What? Only two biological sexes? Heresy! Ban him!

You can read Staddon’s actual exchange with the APA oversight for yourself and draw your own conclusions. The evidence is fairly straightforward, and the extreme bias against rational thinking is on full display.

But, as Ben Shapiro has often reminded us, facts don’t care about your feelings. And as Ryan Anderson and others have pointed out, biology is not bigotry. Reality cannot be denied for long.

Soon enough, more and more fair-minded Americans will say, “I did not sign up for this,” realizing that the slippery slope we warned about is much steeper than they realized.

They wanted to see equality and tolerance. Instead, they ended up with the destruction of the very foundations of our society, not to mention a new, oppressive Big Brother ruling the day.

So the hour is urgent and the sooner this cultural shift happens, the better. This is not a game we can afford to play for long.

At the same time, as our nation begins to regain its sanity, with God’s help, let it be with greater compassion for those who do struggle. Standing for what is right and true and best does not mean hating those who perceive things differently.

Let us, then, commit to doing the right thing, and at the same time, let us commit to showing mercy on those who are hurting. On with the truth-based, love-empowered cultural revolution. {eoa}

New Reports Reveals Staggering Differences in Faith of 4 Generations

The American Worldview Inventory 2021 survey of adult philosophy of life in America concludes that American youth are drifting. The report, conducted by Arizona Christian University, assesses the worldviews of four generations and warns that beliefs and behaviors of younger Americans, especially Millennials, “threaten to reshape the nation’s religious parameters beyond recognition.”

In his book, Hope for This Present Crisis: The Seven Step Path to Restoring a World Gone Mad, Dr. Michael Youssef observes, “Our culture has lost its mind. … All across America and Europe, churches are emptying, and an entire generation is turning away from God. People today have many gods—money, pleasure, politics, the environment—but they no longer acknowledge the God of the Bible.”

The university’s cultural research center (CRC) polled Millennials (born 1984-2002) Gen X (1965-1983), Baby Boomers (1946-1964) and Builders (1927-1945). They noted the following in comparison to traditional Christian beliefs:

— Researchers found that among other recent generations, Millennials have gone farther in cutting ties with traditional Christian views and normative biblical teaching.

— For example, nearly half of all Boomers believe that when they die, they will go to heaven only because they confessed their sins and accepted Jesus as their Savior, compared to only 26% of Gen X and 16% of Millennials.

— Additionally, 43% of Millennials stated they either don’t know, don’t care or don’t believe God exists, compared to 28% of Boomers, and 44% of Millennials, who believe Satan is real and influential, compared to 64% of Boomers.

— On spiritual matters, Americans younger than 55 are far more likely to distrust the Bible and to believe God is uninvolved in people’s lives.

— However, a majority of Americans call themselves Christian, ranging from 57% of Millennials to 83% of Builders.

The CRC assessment measures worldview within eight categories of beliefs and behaviors. The new research reveals that across all four generations, the category in which Americans are least likely to think and act biblically is the dimension of “Bible, truth and morals.” However, all four generations were found to be most likely to believe and behave biblically in relation to religious faith practices.

Dr. Youssef says “we are at a tipping point in American history—and we could go either way. We could return to the founding principles that made our society great—or we could tumble into the same abyss that has swallowed so many other nations and empires over the centuries.”

The report notes the alarming reality that younger Americans do not embrace the foundational Christian faith and biblical principles the same as older generations. In more than two dozen examples, Millennials were substantially more likely than any other generation to reject biblical principles or question beliefs such as creation vs. evolution, inerrancy of the Bible, abortion, original sin, and salvation and redemption through Christ alone vs. social activism and good works. Many survey participants argued that traditional moral perspectives are irrelevant today, making a series of formerly rejected behaviors now morally acceptable including: lying, not repaying loans, premarital sex, illegal tax deductions, speeding, suicide or allowing euthanasia.

Despite shifting beliefs and moral decay, Dr. Youssef’s draws this encouraging conclusion: “It’s not too late to bow before God and plead for our nation. … We are fighting for the souls of a generation—and the fight goes on.”

Dr. Youssef continues, “It’s not too late for God to hear and answer from heaven. It’s not too late for revival to sweep our land.

The state of California threatened church officials with fines and jail time, but pastors and churches stood fast through it all until a California district court lifted the ban from indoor worship just recently.

Along with Ahn, many other pastors, including Greg Farrington, the founder of Destiny Christian Church in Rocklin, boldly led the fight against Newsom and were vindicated by the court’s ruling. Farrington says the pandemic journey has helped mold him and his congregation into stronger Christians.

Farrington graciously agreed to share his church’s story on a recent episode of my Strang Report podcast, and you’ll want to download this episode to listen to his incredible journey.

In a season where culture continues its ongoing hostility to Jesus and to the gospel, Farrington says he and his congregation simply needed to stay obedient to God and to trust Him that they would eventually be allowed to meet again. It was a major period of trial and tribulation, but they made it through the fire.

“In a way, it was the most exciting time of my life of pastoring Destiny Church,” Farrington says. “That doesn’t mean it wasn’t challenging. It was exciting. Every week we were believing and trusting at a level maybe we have never believed and trusted in God before. I would never trade the last year for anything in the world, even though we had incredible hardships.

“People were hating on us, there were death threats. But it was a time where we leaned into God like we had never leaned into Him before. I loved that journey.”

Farrington’s congregation, along with Samuel Rodriguez’s New Season Church, were two churches in the Sacramento area that took a bold stand right near the state capitol’s doorstep. After about 11 weeks of the lockdown, Destiny Christian Church decided to open its doors with caution, and the commitment to taking all the precautions it needed to keep the virus from spreading.

“There was a certain level of anxiety and fear because we didn’t know everything,” Farrington says. “We did everything we could to protect people when we first opened the doors. We spread people out in every way you can imagine. We were way cleaner than Costco ever was. Opening the doors for the very first time was a traumatic day. But I can’t tell you what it was like when I stood on the stages after the church doors have been shut for 11 weeks. I just said, ‘Welcome home. Welcome to the house of God. Let’s worship God.’ The place just erupted. It was one of the highlights of my life.”
