Pastor Proclaims ‘Do-or-Die Moment for America,’ Plans Urgent Prayer Meeting

A prayer meeting this October—open to everyone—will occur with one clear goal: to ask God for forgiveness for what we’ve done in America. For how we’ve treated others. For the ways in which our nation has turned against the Lord and squandered the countless blessings He has bestowed on us.

This prayer meeting is one day only. The sole purpose? A heartfelt plea to God for His forgiveness.

Pastor Carter Conlon, general overseer of Times Square Church, is heading to Plymouth, Massachusetts, to lead the prayer for God’s mercy on Oct. 6, 2020. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the historic arrival of the first Pilgrims on our soil, a place where they sought to worship God freely and according to conscience. Conlon is asking everyone who believes in God, no matter who they are or where they are, to join him online as the Times Square Church Worldwide Prayer Meeting is livestreamed from Plymouth on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 7-9 p.m. ET.

There is no fee. No registration is needed. “We are going to ask God for a mercy moment for our nation,” says Conlon. “God called this prayer meeting. The future of America depends on our prayers.”

Adds Conlon, “God said to me, ‘I want you to come back to this very spot where the nation began. And I want you to ask for forgiveness for what you did with the freedom that I gave you 400 years ago.'”

“We’re simply going to God, to the place where the nation began, spiritually speaking, and we’re going to pray and say, ‘Lord, forgive us.’ I’m going to open by listing the sins of America, starting with slavery, and go right on through to the sins of today, including abortion,” Conlon also notes.

Conlon adds urgently, “This is a do-or-die moment for America. We either have a spiritual awakening, or we plunge into darkness. Without God’s intervention of mercy, this nation is finished. This is it. May God help us. May God have mercy.”

The Worldwide Prayer Meeting, which occurs weekly, draws prayer requests from thousands of people in over 200 self-reported countries and dependencies throughout the world. It does so via website submission form and text message.

The weekly live prayer meeting is livestreamed every Tuesday at 7 p.m. Eastern at 7pm, and on the Times Square Church Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Chick-fil-A Allowed Back at San Antonio Airport, Says ‘No Thanks’

According to several media outlets, it appears the City of San Antonio and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have agreed to an informal settlement in which the city will offer Chick-fil-A a vendor’s spot at the San Antonio International Airport.

The Dallas Morning News reports Chick-fil-A will be offered a lease at the airport after an agreement between the City of San Antonio and the FAA, the federal agency said Monday. However, the fast-food chain said it is not considering a spot at San Antonio Airport after losing its lease last year.

“We are always evaluating potential new locations in the hopes of serving existing and new customers great food with remarkable service,” said a statement from Chick-fil-A, Inc. “While we are not pursuing a location in the San Antonio airport at this time, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve San Antonians in our 32 existing restaurants.”

As CBN News reported in March of 2019, Councilman Roberto Trevino led the charge for a vote to remove Chick-fil-A from the concessions contract, citing its history of giving to organizations he categorized as anti-LGBTQ. Chick-fil-A’s owners have donated to Christian groups like the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. And critics have accused Chick-fil-A of discriminating against the LGBTQ community by supporting groups that may hold biblical views about sexuality.

The San Antonio council’s action drew fire from many conservative groups across the country. Texas Republicans responded to the move by passing the “Save Chick-fil-A” bill, a law that prohibits the government from taking “adverse action” against an individual or business based on contributions to religious organizations. The law went into effect on Sept. 1, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The FAA launched an investigation into the incident after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and religious liberty watchdog First Liberty Institute asked the US Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao to look into whether the city broke federal law. The agency announced the informal resolution with the city in a letter to Paxton dated Sept. 10.

An FAA spokesman also said the agency will continue to monitor the matter.

Bill Wiese: Do We Really Understand Eternal Punishment?

Our sin is deserving of eternal punishment because of who we have sinned against; a holy, omnipotent, perfect, eternal God. Punishment satisfies justice. Hell is justice served, according to God.

Staying out of hell is a matter of choice. God provided His free gift of salvation to all who would repent and receive Him as Lord and Savior. Everyone has the opportunity.

It’s only the grace of God and the blood of Jesus that redeems us. Our part in redemption is our faith in Jesus Christ. Faith is a requirement for salvation, and there will be no faith required once a person sees hell. God gave the most precious thing He could give man to redeem his soul from hell; His own Son!

Do you truly understand the punishment that awaits every one who rejects Jesus Christ?

Full Transparency About Singleness From an Ex-Lesbian

Singleness or loneliness is a fear for many. And I can’t tell you how many people bring this fear to me as they walk away from their same-sex attraction in pursuit of God.

I had told God nine years ago that a condition to my surrender is that I do not remain single. The need for companionship, desire for a family and children is a deep-seated desire for many of those who struggle with same-sex attraction.

What I’ve learned over the past nine years of singleness as I pursue the Father is that God will not be bargained with or manipulated. So the big question is, “How have I been dealing with these unquenchable desires while remaining single?”

I’ve had to separate and deal with my feelings according to the Word of God. Have you ever analyzed your feelings by asking yourself why?

Why do I feel sad? Because I feel lonely.

Why do I feel lonely? Because I am single and childless, and everyone around me is married with children.

The root of my sadness is usually the trap of comparison and trying to obtain what the majority values on this earth. Maybe you’re finding yourself struggling with finances because you are trying to keep up with the latest trends, or you have a fear of failure due to not obtaining that perfect career.

We must not compare ourselves according to the world’s standard. Rather, the Holy Spirit should be our guide and marker. God does not tell us to go with the flow of our feelings because our feelings are rarely lined up with biblical truths.

We must first:

  1. Read and gain biblical understanding (renewed mind).
  2. Walk in faith, not feelings (doing what the Bible suggests).
  3. Line our feelings up with truth (facts becoming experientially real).

5 Ways You Can Step In and Launch Out in Your Kingdom Destiny

As believers, we tend to remain in our comfort zone instead of embracing the unknown. However, the Lord is waiting for us to step into our coracle (a small, lightweight boat) and push off from the shore. God wants to determine the where, when and how we move. When we remain on shore, we miss out on all that the Lord wants to do for us and through us—we miss the miraculous. Our unbelief, disobedience and lack of faith holds us back (Heb 3:16-19).

Every person has been anointed and given a gift to build up the church, no one is left out. We usually think that those in formal church positions are the only ones called, but this is inaccurate. God is waiting for you to say “Yes” to His direction.

So how do we step into our coracle, sit down and let the Spirit lead?

First, recognize that God is doing a new thing. This time of COVID-19 and racial tension is making all of us examine our hearts and realign our priorities. Unfortunately, we created habits of religion that worked in the past but it’s time to let go.

Recognize God’s ways are higher than yours (Isa. 55:8). There might be times you do not fully understand what God might be doing or why He chose you, but press into Him.

Sit still daily. Allow time for Him to speak to you. We are the ones usually speaking, but listening is vital. How does God speak? He uses Scriptures, worship music, devotions, a thought, an impression in your heart or even through what you are passionate about.

Ask the Lord to reveal what is hindering you from fully surrendering to His leadership. This is a daring task, so be prepared for the answer.

Set your mind on the things of God (Phil 4:9). Think eternally.

This is just a start. Get ready for the boat ride of your life, and watch what God will do!

Megachurch Leader Transitions to Pastor Emeritus

Dr. Charles Stanley announced his decision to step down as senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta on Sunday, Sept. 13, during a livestream service. With a succession plan in place, the 87-year-old passed leadership on to Dr. Anthony George, who has assisted Stanley for the past eight years.

“We are forever indebted to this man of God—not only our faithful pastor, but also a pastor to millions around the world,” the church relayed on its Facebook page.

Israel Approves 3-Week Nationwide Lockdown

Israeli leaders announced Sunday the country will be forced into yet another full lockdown with the hopes that it will lower skyrocketing virus cases and the morbidity rate.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the lockdown will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, just before celebrations begin for the Jewish new year holiday of Rosh Hashanah. The first phase of the lockdown will extend for three weeks from Sept. 28 until Oct. 11. Authorities will then reassess the situation.

The Restrictions

During the lockdown, police and soldiers will prevent Israelis from venturing more than 500 meters from their property. People will only be allowed to leave their homes for vital supplies like food and medicine.

All businesses that receive the public will be forced to shut down and authorities will ban companies from receiving customers. Businesses that do not interact with the public, like factories, will be allowed to stay open but with limited personnel.

All gyms and restaurants will be shuttered. However, restaurants will be able to offer deliveries.

Schools, except for special education centers, will be closed as well. Indoor and outdoor gatherings will be limited.

The lockdown will also affect the way people worship during the upcoming Jewish holy days. Up to 20 people will be allowed to pray together outdoors. In areas where infection rates are highest, up to 10 people will be allowed to worship together indoors. Up to 25 people will be allowed to worship together indoors in areas where infection rates are lower.

If the morbidity rate has lowered by Oct. 11, Israel may transition into the second phase of the lockdown. During the second phase, restrictions will be tailored according to the severity of the virus in each specific city and municipality.

Attorney General Barr Calls Out Mainstream Media Over Riots Coverage

Attorney General Bill Barr called out the mainstream media on Friday as “a collection of liars, and they know exactly what they’re doing” in regard to coverage of the riots in Seattle, Portland and Kenosha.

In an exclusive interview with while returning to Washington following a three-day tour of Chicago, Phoenix and Cleveland, Barr said the media was lying to the American people for partisan reasons.

“Right on the street it was clear as day what was going on, anyone observing it, reporters observing it, it could not have escaped their attention that this was orchestrated violence by a hardened group of street-fighting radicals, and they kept on excluding from their coverage all the video of this and reporting otherwise. And they were doing that for partisan reasons, and they were lying to the American people. It wasn’t until they were caught red-handed after essentially weeks of this lie that they even started feeling less timid,” Barr said.

“The press has dropped, in my view—and I’m talking about the national mainstream media—has dropped any pretense of professional objectivity and are political actors, highly partisan, who try to shape what they’re reporting to achieve a political purpose and support a political narrative that has nothing to do with the truth. They’re very mendacious about it,” the attorney general continued. “It’s very destructive to our republic; it’s very destructive to the Democratic system to have that, especially being so monolithic. It’s contributing to a lot of the intensity and partisanship.”

Since George Floyd’s death last May and the resulting protests that turned into riots, the major television networks have gone out of their way to portray the riots as “peaceful protests,” according to Townhall. The most ironic image was broadcast by CNN. While a reporter stood in front of a burning Kenosha business to give a live report, the network posted a graphic reading “Fiery but mostly peaceful protest,” to describe the riot that night.

Pentecostal Pastor and Wife Flee Iran After 15-Year Prison Sentence

A Christian pastor and his wife are running for their lives after being arrested and sentenced to prison for celebrating Christmas, among other traditions.

Iranian-Assyrian Christian pastor Victor Bet-Tamraz, 66, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and his wife Shamiram Issavi, 65, was sentenced to five years. Bet-Tamraz and other Christians were arrested on Dec. 26, 2014. What was the heinous crime that earned them a stay in Iran’s infamous Evin Prison—the Iranian penitentiary labeled “a torture factory”? Holding a gathering to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

The arresting officers reportedly told them they were being arrested for participating in an “unlawful and unauthorized gathering”:

Pastor Victor Bet-Tamraz, former leader of the Assyrian Pentecostal Church of Tehran (Shahrara), was arrested on Friday, 26 December, along with two of his friends, Amin Afshar-Naderi and Kavian Fallah-Mohammadi, as they celebrated Christmas together.

Ten plainclothes officers, introducing themselves as agents of the Revolutionary Court, entered the pastor’s home and confiscated many personal items, including Bibles, mobile phones and identification documents.

After years of failed appeals hearings, which were repeatedly delayed or canceled, Pastor Bet-Tamraz and his wife Shamiram were notified that their appeal was unceremoniously denied. Shortly after, Shamiram received a notice to report to Evin Prison to begin her 5-year sentence.

Iran’s brutal Evin Prison has been described as a “house of horrors” where “beatings, torture, mock executions and brutal interrogations are the norm.” What chance did two innocent Christians in their late 60s have of surviving such a hellish environment?

Pastor Victor and his wife chose the only option for survival they saw possible. They have reportedly fled Iran for their lives. Now they seek shelter and safety while they vow to continue appealing their unjust sentencing.

The ACLJ is very familiar with Iran’s disgusting persecution of its Christian citizens. We’ve told you how we’ve gone directly to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to demand protection for Iranian Christians who live in fear of targeted harassment, arrest and imprisonment because of their faith.

We continue to advocate for the release of Iranian Christian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani who has languished for over two years now in that very same Evin Prison, enduring unknown manners of abuse, after being beaten and arrested by Iranian authorities because of his faith. We delivered a critical written submission through our international affiliate, the European Center for Law and Justice (ECLJ), urging intervention to free Pastor Youcef and reunite him with his wife and young children.

And just recently, we delivered a critical oral intervention at the UNHRC in Geneva, Switzerland, through the ECLJ, asking for protection for Iranian Christians.

The greatest threat to religious freedom in Iran is the extreme persecution that religious minorities face at the hands of the Iranian government. This year, a human rights watch group ranked Iran as the ninth worst place to live for Christians, because, as we highlighted in our UPR report on Iran, churches in Iran are routinely raided and Christians are targeted for arrest simply because they are living out their faith in community with others.

We also reminded the international body that as a U.N. member state, Iran is obligated under its charter to uphold “respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion.” Its actions against its own Christians and other religious minorities are a direct violation of that charter.

As we stated at the UNHRC:

“As a member of the United Nations, Iran has a responsibility to adhere to the principles set forth in the U.N. Charter. It is imperative that Iran work to actively protect the rights of its citizens, and reform its laws so that all its citizens are free to practice their religion peacefully without fear of arrest and violence from their government.

“By harassing Christians, rounding up Christian pastors, and locking them up in horrific prisons to suffer, Iran is disgracing its international commitments. It has to stop now.”

We will continue to monitor the plight of Pastor Victor Bet-Tamraz and his wife Shamiram Issavi if and when updates become available and will be prepared to take action on their behalf if necessary. And we continue to aggressively advocate for the freedom of Pastor Youcef until he is allowed to return home to his family. {eoa}
