How the Holy Spirit Prepared Southwest Crew for Emergency Landing

Tammie Jo Shults allowed the Holy Spirit to flow through her as she navigated her plane to an emergency landing.

One of the plane’s engines had just exploded. The debris broke a passenger’s window, and the passenger was partially sucked out, eventually dying from her wounds.

But through it all, Shults knew the Peace that surpasses all understanding was with her, and she says now sees just how God was already preparing her heart earlier that day. She was far from the only believer manning the plane that day.

First Officer Darren Ellisor and flight attendants Rachel Fernheimer, Seanique Mallory and Kathryn Sandoval shared their testimony on CBS This Morning.

“Well, in LaGuardia, when we had a little extra time, we were chatting, and Rachel had gotten a new Bible with room to journal on the side, and she and Seanique and then Kathryn was talking about she was in a study of Psalms, which is where I’m doing a study in Psalms and Proverbs,” Shults said of the meeting the crew had before the flight. “When you talk about things deeper than the weather, your family and faith, the things that matter to you, even if they’re different, it tends to bring a bond.”

Mallory said: “Well, it was the peace that God had given us all. It’s a peace that surpasses all understanding. Like Tammie Jo said, we came together beforehand and we all talked about God, and not knowing what was going to happen minutes later, God had already prepared us without us even knowing.”

Shocking New Snapchat Channel Should Terrify Every Parent

Last week, Snapchat introduced a new channel in its “Discover” section called, “Cosmo After Dark.” And simply put, it is pornographic.

This is highly concerning, not least because huge numbers of teens use Snapchat to communicate with their friends. According to Cosmopolitan magazine, the new channel “is an X-rated weekly edition that goes live every Friday at 6 p.m. …”

The worst part? There’s no option—for parents or anyone else—to switch it off. {eoa}

A Biblical, Historical Case for Jerusalem as Israel’s Eternal Capital

Last week was momentous, for Israel as well as for the United States. And it was the validation of so much hard work for my dad.

After literally decades of tireless advocacy, my dad, American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, was there in Jerusalem for the historic opening of the U.S. Embassy in the eternal capital of Israel. It was the fruition of a dream he’s held on to for as long as I can remember.

My father was on the ground to witness firsthand not only the important fulfillment of a law passed over 20 years ago, but America’s recognition of the fact that Jerusalem is indeed the eternal capital of Israel. We were all a part of that history as it unfolded, as my father represented the ACLJ and all its members for this historic occasion.

But Israel’s enemies are seething with anger. Over 50 Hamas and other jihadist operatives were killed trying to infiltrate Israel. Iran fired rockets into Israel.

Even the U.N. is rank with anti-Semitism. We’ve told you how the International Criminal Court (ICC) is preparing possible war crimes charges against Israel—instead of pursuing the true terrorists and criminals. It’s mind-boggling.

But why does the world harbor so much anti-Semitism and hatred towards Israel? What makes this move of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem so historic? Why does Israel matter?

In my dad’s brand new book, Jerusalem: A Biblical and Historical Case for the Jewish Capital, New York Times best-selling author Jay Sekulow answers these and many other questions.

We are all living history right now. With so many powerful forces conspiring against Israel, it is imperative that you stay informed.

My dad spent years meticulously researching this new book, and in it, he presents the legal and biblical case for Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem. My dad’s writing sums it up best:

This book will concisely, accurately and beyond the shadow of a doubt establish the legal and historical right for Israel to exist as a Jewish State. I will use biblical history, extra-biblical history, archaeology and international law to make my case. You’ll see clearly why the Jewish people lay claim to the land, that there has been an enduring Jewish presence in Palestine (Israel) for almost four millennia, why Jerusalem should be considered their eternal capital, and how modern Israeli law is built upon the bedrock principle of human rights. And as we go, I will also give you a clear picture of the enemy we’re fighting and what’s at stake for the Jewish people—and the world—if we fail. We—you and I—cannot allow that to happen.

“Jerusalem: A Biblical and Historical Case for the Jewish Capital” releases in bookstores on June 12, but you can pre-order it right now on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

This is information the world needs to know, and craves to understand, as Israel and Jerusalem are continually in the news every day. In “Jerusalem,” my dad lays out all the facts and answers every question in an interesting, easy-to-follow, format.

The relationship between the U.S. and Israel is crucial. But Israel is also very significant to my family. It’s literally in our blood. My parents, my brother and I have all spent time there—some of which even turned harrowing a times—as you’ll read. We must continue to support and defend our ally. {eoa}

When All Hope Seems Lost, This Truth Will Deliver You

The Word of God says that to whom much is given, much is required (see Luke 12:48).

When faced with this challenge, what do you do? Often, we run with our flesh. However our emotions move, we tend to move.

The Bible says to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things will be added to you (see Matt. 6:33). When are we challenged with this Scripture? When people admire others’ lives, what they have or what God has them doing for the kingdom. People don’t understand the cost, the cost of one’s very being. Everything you were taught, trained, imparted, grew up in and had examples of, will all be required of you by God to surrender to Him.

To be more like Him, you will have warfare. The devil will attack you. The enemy wants you to remain unaware of your true identity. The devil will attempt to tarnish your character. He will try to tempt you out of your rightful position in God, and ultimately, he wants you to be done with God altogether. How many of you know a price has been paid for you through the blood of Jesus? How many of you know the battle is not ours, it is the Lord’s?

I can’t tell you every battle I have stood in the midst of while God was fighting for me. All I can say is He has kept me. Look at me! You don’t know half the story. I don’t look like what I have been through even in my walk with the Lord. God did it! It’s a continuous journey. You will often have seasons when you will have to wrestle with God like Jacob (Gen. 32:22-31). Folks left me; they couldn’t help me. They didn’t understand my cost. They simply were not equipped to see me through the battles I had to endure.

They hadn’t walked my path, and they couldn’t understand my layers of pain. They couldn’t see why my tears continued to come when things looked so sweet. They didn’t realize I was being processed in a deliverance. God has a deliverance just for you too. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Don’t move to the left or right.

The reward is greater if you just remain in him, no matter who stays through it with you or who turns away.

God will always be your very present help. He is your deliverer and healer as well as your sustainer. Hold on! I had to get my praise dance on when I thought about it and this word from God came into my spirit. Be blessed! {eoa}

How to Share Your Faith Without Hurting Your Relationship

There is no precise formula to evangelism. The kind of conversation you have about Jesus with a stranger is probably a lot different than the one you’d have with a family member. Your understanding of a loved one and your shared experience informs the way you talk to them about Jesus, but they can also make you cautious about sharing your faith in a way that doesn’t hurt your relationship.

Hopefully, you’re comfortable having discussions that are spiritually deep and significant … not necessarily the kind of conversations that explain the gospel and press your listener for a decision, but the sort of dialogue that deals with spiritual and moral themes. These deep, casual conversations prepare you for the moment when you ask your loved one to accept Jesus, and that’s the kind of Jesus discussion we’re talking about here.

Be careful about when you have that high-stakes discussion. If you do it at the wrong time, it’s like hitting Reset. You’ll probably need to take a step back and wait for a new opportunity.

Here are some tips for recognizing when it’s time to have the Jesus talk.

Pay Attention to the Setting

The first thing to be mindful of is whether the background for this talk is going to make it easier or harder. Are there a lot of people around who are going to be a distraction or potentially insinuate themselves into the discussion? Are there people close enough that your loved one is going to be self-conscious about talking openly? Is it really noisy?

As much as it’s possible, find a location that feels comfortable and natural. Walks in nature can provide a beautiful setting and remind you of God’s closeness. It’s also nice to have a profound conversation where you can look off into the same direction instead of dealing with the awkwardness some people feel in face-to-face discussions.

Is the Timing Right?

This isn’t a conversation you want to rush, so choose a time when neither of you has to speed off to another appointment or responsibility. It’s hard to have a weighty conversation if either of you is monitoring the time.

More importantly, gauge the timing for them. Do they seem open and vulnerable right now? Look for signs that they’re engaged and ready for this conversation. Are they listening carefully and asking questions? What kind of emotion do you see on their face? Receptivity? Guardedness?

If the moment doesn’t seem entirely right, excuse yourself and pray for guidance. If you feel prompted to forge ahead anyway, try to steer the conversation in that direction in a way that feels natural. But don’t be afraid to let it go and make plans to have a go at the discussion later.

It’s Never Going to Be Perfect

Be mindful of falling into the trap of waiting for the perfect moment. The perfect moment is the enemy of the right moment. What you’re looking for is an opportunity that is free from apparent obstacles and distractions. But be careful not to pass up a perfectly good circumstance because you’re holding out for the ideal moment.

Keep praying for your loved one, and ask God to prompt you when the moment is right—and to give you the courage to take advantage of that opportunity.

Victory: ‘Show Dogs’ Edited to Remove Sexual Abuse Grooming

The filmmakers behind Show Dogs, a children’s movie about a detective dog who goes undercover at a dog show, have decided to re-edit the movie after outraged parents and activists argued that scenes in the film border on pedophilia.

“Responding to concerns raised by moviegoers and some specific organizations, Global Road Entertainment has decided to remove two scenes from the film Show Dogs that some have deemed not appropriate for children,” a spokesperson told CBN News. “The company takes these matters very seriously and remains committed to providing quality entertainment for the intended audiences based on the film’s rating. We apologize to anybody who feels the original version of Show Dogs sent an inappropriate message. The revised version of the film will be available for viewing nationwide starting this weekend.”

Mommy blogger Terina Maldonado of East Mesa Macaroni Kid, was one of the first people to speak out about the film. She writes about her concerns in a post called, “Show Dogs, Don’t Let Your Children Be Groomed, Use This to Teach Them.”

“As part of any dog show, contestants are judged on their abilities and physical attributes,” the post reads. “One part, in particular, is the inspection of the dog’s private parts. Being that Max (the show dog) is new to competing, he needs to learn the process so his human partner, Frank, along with a former show champion work to get him ready for the final round of the competition. Since the inspection of the private parts will happen in the finals, Frank touches Max’s private parts to get him used to it. …”

Maldonado wasn’t the only one sounding the alarm about the movie for kids.

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation said the film introduces children to unwanted genital touching.

The organization released a statement about the movie’s questionable scene.

“The movie Show Dogs sends a troubling message that grooms children for sexual abuse,” said Dawn Hawkins, Executive Director of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. “Children’s movies must be held to a higher standard, and must teach children bodily autonomy, the ability to say ‘no’ and safety, not confusing messages endorsing unwanted genital touching.”

The organization now applauds the filmmakers for re-editing the movie.

“We’re very thankful to all the activists around the country who demanded that Global Road Entertainment re-cut the movie Show Dogs so that there is no implication of child sex abuse or child grooming in this movie that is directed at children,” Patrick Trueman, CEO and president of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation told CBN News. {eoa}

WATCH: Massive Youth Revival Breaks Out … Into The World’s Largest Pillow Fight

Thousands of youth gathered over the weekend for the Pulse conference in the Twin Cities to worship the Lord—and break a world record.

The group filled U.S. Bank Stadium and had performances from Lecrae, Hillsong Y&F, Tye Tribbett and dance group the Jabbawockeez, Pulse Founder Nick Hall tells Charisma.

Testimonies from Minnesota Twins, Vikings, an Olympic gold medalist from the U.S. Women’s Hockey team, and the founder of My Pillow, Mike Lindell—hence pillow fight—were interspersed throughout the event.

“Then, of course I gave a full Gospel message and invitation. We have 8,814 people record a gospel response, and now follow-up has begun. This effort was the culmination of 18 months of effort, with 750 churches working together and over 10,000 believers trained to share their faith. For charity, there was also a local food drive, and we partnered with World Vision for their Global 6K to build wells for clean water in Africa,” Hall says.

After the fight, Lindell knelt in prayer:

I’m gonna say a prayer right now. I pray that somebody out there, that Jesus touched ’em tonight. And if you’ve got any prayers, Lord, make these pillows that people take home their prayer pillow. That they will lay on ’em and never forget this night. And they will pray to you Lord, and ask you into their heart and surrender—surrender to you Jesus! And we pray for the addicts, anybody addicted out there, that stories of hope like mine will change the world and change our country. We pray for peace; we pray for our country; we pray for our state; we just pray, Lord, we reached out to you … we ask for … please forgive our sins, Lord. Forgive us, and listen to our prayers tonight, Lord. And I want everybody to say a prayer of peace tonight, a prayer on their pillow. In Jesus’ name, amen.

City Pages reports Guinness judges counted 7,681 pillow fighters, which bested St. Paul’s Saints 2013 total of 6,261, which previously held the record.

For the First Time Ever, a Jewish-Christian Party Will Participate in Israel’s Election

A Jewish-Christian political party will be on the ballot for the first time in Israel’s next general election after the registrar recently approved the party.

Dennis Avi Lipkin founded the BibleBloc Party, which he says has been in the making for years.

“Our goal is to promote the Jewish-Christian alliance and togetherness,” Lipkin tells The Jerusalem Post. “For 2,000 years, Jews and Christians hated each other. When Israel faces an existential threat of Islamic terrorism, we need a Judeo-Christian love party.”

The Jerusalem Post reports the list will alternate between Jews and Christians, starting with Lipkin, followed by a Christian who lives in the Druse village of Usfiya. Part of the party’s platform will be to send Jewish and Christian supporters of Israel to speak on the country’s behalf around the world. The party will seek the support of non-Jewish Russian immigrants from the former Soviet Union and their spouses and Christian Arabs.

“The Biblical bloc protects everyone who believes in the Bible and opposes the ethnic cleansing of Jews and Christians from the land of Israel,” according to the Jewish Press. “The Biblical bloc represents parties all over the world who espouse Judeo-Christian, democratic Western culture.”

Esther Fleece Allen of Alliance for the Peace of Jerusalem says, “It is good to see someone like Avi Lipkin recognizes the level of support that non Jews bring to the vitality of Israel. The Alliance for the Peace of Jerusalem is committed to praying for all who seek the good of those who live in the Holy Land.”

The United States recently opened its embassy in Jerusalem to international protests.

The move was lauded as biblical prophetic fulfillment by many Christian leaders.

“We’re finally doing what we said we were going to do a quarter of a century ago and that is to move our embassy to Jerusalem. And then on another level is, I think America is coming into alignment with biblical truth. I mean this is, it doesn’t matter what the United States says—this is the capital Jerusalem. It was bought and paid for. David declared it to be the capital of Israel, and so I think we’re just coming into line and alignment with biblical truth,” retired Army Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin says.

Israel is run by the Knesset, or general assembly.

According to the official Knesset website:

Israel has an electoral system based on nation-wide proportional representation, and the number of seats which every list receives in the Knesset is proportional to the number of voters who voted for it. The only limitation is the percent qualifying threshold. In other words, a party must receive at least percent of the votes in order to be elected. According to this system, the voters vote for a party list, and not for a particular person on the list. Since the institution of the primaries system in some of the parties, these parties directly elect their candidates for the Knesset. Some of the parties elect their candidates via the party’s institutions. In the ultra-religious parties their spiritual leaders appoint the candidates. The Knesset elections take place once every four years, but the Knesset or the Prime Minister can decide to hold early elections, and under certain circumstances can serve for more than four years. …

The contest in the elections is among lists of candidates. Since the Parties Law was passed in 1992, only a party, which has been legally registered with the Party Registrar, or an alignment of two or more registered parties, which have decided to run in the elections together, can present a list of candidates and participate in the elections. …

The candidates of any given list are elected to the Knesset on the basis of the order in which they appear on it. If a certain party received sufficient votes for 10 seats, the first 10 candidates on its list will enter the Knesset. If a Knesset member passes away or resigns his seat in the Knesset for whatever reason, the next on the list will replace him/her.

Joyce Meyer: If You’re in This Kind of Relationship, End It Now

Worrying is a natural response in many situations, and I’ve wasted many days getting caught up in it. I thought that was a normal way to live. But through the years, God has helped me end my relationship with worry. And He did it with the help of my husband, Dave.

Dave and I have been married for more than 50 years now, and every time I have come to him with a problem, Dave has had only one thing to say: “Cast your care.”

I didn’t always want to hear this when I was feeling frustrated and upset, but it’s exactly what the Bible tells us to do.

First Peter 5:7 (AMP) says to cast, “all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”

In the dictionary, the word cast means “to pitch or to throw.” I think that description says a lot because if you’re going to end your relationship with worry, then you’re going to have to get aggressive about it.

For example, we don’t have to accept every thought that comes into our head. We can cast out the wrong ones and let the right ones take root. And I find that my whole outlook changes as I say simple prayers: “God, I believe You’re working in my life, and I’m expecting something good to happen today.”

I’m not saying we should ignore our problems, wishing they’d just go away. We need to see them for what they are, but we can’t let them keep us from choosing a hopeful, positive attitude that says, “I believe God is in control!”

I like this saying: “Worry sees the problem. Faith sees the God who can handle the problem.”

The question is, do your problems know where they stand in relationship to God in your life?

Get Your Eyes Glued on God

I love the story of Abraham, who at 100 years of age, believed God would give Him a son and make him the father of many nations. He chose to look beyond his circumstances and believe God. I’m absolutely amazed by that!

The Bible says that God can “do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think” (Eph. 3:20b). So no matter what our circumstances look like, we just need to keep our eyes on God.

Timing Is Everything, and Everything Takes Time

Typically, when we have a problem, God will do one of two things. He’ll either remove the problem, or He’ll give us the ability to get through it with a positive attitude.

I’ve found that as I’ve grown in my relationship with God, I’ve become more comfortable leaving that choice up to God. Because if He leads me through something I really don’t want to go through, then I know for sure He has a purpose in mind.

As a child I experienced years of sexual and emotional abuse, which was absolutely tormenting. The amazing thing is, everything God has done in my life through that horrible situation—all of the healing and restoration—has prepared me to do what He’s called me to do today. I didn’t always understand why things were happening the way they did at the time, but I learned how to walk by faith and trust God’s goodness even when my circumstances didn’t make sense to me.

It’s absolutely wonderful when we can feel completely comfortable not knowing the “why” behind what’s happening in our lives.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth….”

We don’t always have to know what God is going to do or when He’s going to do it. All we really need to know is that God has a plan and He is in control. We can rest in the truth that at the right time, God will execute His plan.

Trusting God Brings the Best Results

Maybe there’s something happening in your life right now that you just don’t understand, and it’s causing you to worry. Instead, you can choose to say, “I don’t understand this and it hurts right now, but I believe God is going to work it out.”

If you’ve already wasted a lot of your time worrying, I encourage you to break up with worry. Instead of giving way to anxious emotions, you can do what God has urged me to do all these years: Cast your care.

In time, God’s good plan will be revealed.

Romans 8:28 says, “We know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.”

Not everything that happens is good. But it can all work out for if you’ll keep loving God and pursuing His will for your life. There’s nothing God can’t turn around if you’ll put your trust in Him! {eoa}

Mark Batterson: Why You’re Missing Your God-Ordained Opportunities

New York Times bestselling author Mark Batterson debuts an exciting new weekly series Thursday, May 24th, on TBN, the world’s most watched faith-and-family network. Based on his recent book of the same title, Chase the Lion takes viewers deep into the heart and soul of what it means to be a risk-taker—and to win!

Batterson, the founding senior pastor of National Community Church, a vibrant eight-campus congregation in Washington, D.C., explains that the book and series are themed on one of his favorite Scripture passages, 2 Samuel 23:20: “And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done great acts. He struck down two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.”

In the exclusive TBN series, Batterson expands on this single Scripture about the exploits of one Jewish warrior. “While most people would see the lion and run, Benaiah did just the opposite,” says Batterson. “For him the lion represented an opportunity to step into his destiny. After killing the lion, he landed his dream job as King David’s bodyguard and eventually became commander-in-chief of Israel’s army under King Solomon.”

Batterson notes that, unlike Benaiah, far too many people find themselves fleeing challenges rather than facing and conquering them head-on. “We forfeit our dreams on the altar of fear,” he says. “Or we chase after the wrong things. We’re so busy climbing the ladder of success that we fail to realize it’s leaning against the wrong wall. At the end of our lives, our greatest regrets will be the God-ordained opportunities we left on the table, the God-given passions we didn’t pursue, and the God-sized dreams we didn’t go after because we let fear dictate our decisions.”

Each week on Chase the Lion, Batterson brings a profound and life-changing teaching designed to help viewers embrace what he calls the “Lion Chaser’s Manifesto”—”Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Run to the roar. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-given passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. Stop pointing out problems. Become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past. Start creating the future. Face your fears. Fight for your dreams. Grab opportunity by the mane and don’t let go! Live like today is the first day and last day of your life. Burn sinful bridges. Blaze new trails. Live for the applause of nail-scarred hands. Don’t let what’s wrong with you keep you from worshiping what’s right with God. Dare to fail. Dare to be different. Quit holding out. Quit holding back. Quit running away. Chase the lion.”

Don’t miss the exciting new weekly series, Chase the Lion with New York Times bestselling author Mark Batterson, premiering Thursday, May 24th, at 9:30 p.m. Eastern / 6:30 p.m. Pacific, exclusively on TBN.
