God Desires Your Friendship, but You Must Do One Thing

As I travel the country, God has me regularly share a word of encouragement and challenge to congregations. I have seen at times more than 80 percent of a church respond to receive their calling and releasing for what God has designed for them.

You are a vital force to be released on the earth to bring forth the kingdom of God. I believe today the Lord is looking for friends. God desires our friendship to accomplish His will and to enjoy us as His sons and daughters.

It takes one man or woman to believe God. They need to step out of their comfortable uninvolved boat. Some do this by becoming men who teach people to read English by using the Bible, women who go to the women’s prison cell, one who starts a small group to teach young mothers basic life skills or men who use their previous addiction to reach out to those still trapped.

What if Peter would have stayed in his boat?  What if he, like the others in the boat, only wanted to watch the miracles?  Then 11 people would have had less of a revelation of who God is.

How many have forfeited their ministry and kept others from seeing Jesus?  See, you are called to minister to your city, state and nation. It is totally up to you. If you don’t get out of the boat, who will?  You are the closest to the lost, broken and needy in your community. You are the solution for a small group, whether it be a home Bible study, Sunday school class or teaching young men how to start a business. There are hundreds of ideas your church or community needs. You are His hands and feet. You see the needs, and often what you see spiritually, you are responsible for spiritually. I encourage you to get out of the boat and jump in.

Be the only sea-stained, wet, trying, worshipper of God in your boat. Don’t look at what others in the boat are doing. They are spectators. You have a ministry, and sitting in the pew is not it. Do not just give money, warm a pew and watch your pastor and others minister. You are to be about your God-given mandate. Start implementing your ideas!  Dare to make your dream a reality!  Go for it!

Let’s go back to John 15:13-17. I think now we know it takes getting out of the boat to be the friend of God, and that we need to get rid of our paradigms, history and ideas, and trust the word of the Lord and His calling for us into the waters of ministry.

Let’s review these verses:

Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. I no longer call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I have heard from My Father have I made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that the Father may give you whatever you ask Him in My name. This I command you: that you love one another (John 15:13-17).

You see, when we lay down our lives by getting out of the boat and loving people we become the friends of God. According to this passage of Scripture, loving others is the family business of God. In other words, as children of our Father’s business or industry, our job is to love them.

Some of you are business owners. It’s a great day when your kids want to become involved in the family business, not just for the pay, but because they really enjoy it?  Hasn’t Jesus through His death and resurrection clearly made known to us the business of loving others?

You are the kings and queens of the earth. Without your ministry, your church, community and nation suffer. If we live only for ourselves and don’t release Christ in us through some form of touching others, what kind of kings would we be?

I encourage you to seek the heart of God for your usefulness in the family business of loving the world and church. Find your ministry so the revival of God can come to you and through you. I really believe it’s when we rise and take our place in ministry that our churches will grow through people being saved and touched.

I pray God uses you all the days of your life. I love being in the family business of loving people. God will show you His will. He will guide you!  Welcome to the kingly ministry!

5 Celebrities Who Have Admitted to a Porn Problem

Pornography affects men (and women) from the home to Hollywood. In fact, many of our nation’s top celebrities have admitted the damaging impact of pornography in their lives.

A look at these five Hollywood actors and celebrities who have admitted to problems with pornography offers insight and hope for those who face a similar battle in their own lives.

NFL Star & Actor Terry Crews

Former NFL star and actor Terry Crews (known to many for his humorous Old Spice commercials) publicly confessed his decades-long porn addiction on Facebook in 2016. He notes:

“For years, years, years, my dirty little secret was that I was addicted to pornography… It really, really messed up my life in a lot of ways.”

In Crews’ case, his acknowledgement of the problem led him to seek rehab and work toward recovery. His wife supported his recovery with the couple growing stronger. Crews now speaks out to help other men confront and conquer the battle against pornography.

Reality TV Star Josh Duggar

One of the biggest headlines of 2015 included the release of leaked accounts from the affair-promoting website . 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar was discovered with two accounts on the site, leading to an eventual confession of a secret addiction to pornography.

In Duggar’s case, the consequences were both personal and professional. In addition to destroying his family, the news ended his job at the Family Research Council.

Golf Superstar Tiger Woods

In 2010 golf superstar Tiger Woods spent time at a sexual addiction treatment center, admitting both addiction to pornography and other sexual problems, according to Time magazine. In his case, pornography served as part of a larger sexual addiction that included infidelity to his wife.

The public release of the information led to a humiliating time for Woods, in addition to divorce. Though he later returned to the golf course, his life and family suffered serious consequences.

British Comedian Russell Brand

Brand’s biography My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs and Stand-Up reveals his confession of 30 days in a sexual addiction treatment program due to addiction to pornography and other sexual problems.

Brand’s transformation claims he has made a complete break from pornography and sexual relationships, living completely celibate. He now pursues other passions such as rock climbing.

Gospel Music Star Kirk Franklin

Kirk Franklin has won 12 Grammy Awards and his name is synonymous with American Gospel music. However, his battle with pornography almost cost him everything. He described the power of pornography as a “drug” that would call to him in the night.

He has openly spoken about the topic on CBN and even with Oprah to encourage other men to get help in their own lives. His honest words to CBN’s Scott Ross about his first exposure to porn is telling:

“There’s always the boy who has the big brother who has the magazine under his bed. That’s how it starts. So the first time I ever saw one, I was around 8 or 9. I saw my first magazine, and from there I was addicted.”

You Are Not Alone

Yes, many of today’s celebrities—even Christians—have struggled with pornography. You are not alone.

If you’ve tried to stop viewing pornography on your own and continue to struggle, get help. You don’t have to fight this battle alone.

“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom. 12:1-2).

Prophetic Word: Prophetic Clarity Will Carry You Through This Season

Clarity of Focus Will Carry You Through

We can look at Nehemiah in the Bible as a groundbreaker. In his time, he was a person whom the Lord placed strategically to bring reformation and  restoration as well as to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. What Nehemiah carried should be an eye-opener to us prophetic ones, as we are entering into a season of rebuilding, reassignment and swift change. Our prophetic ears and eyes should shift towards Nehemiah as an example and illustration of how we can navigate this season in which we live. We are: contending and begging the Lord for the rebuilding, asking for favor to carry out our assignment and overcoming immense discouragement. Nehemiah kept a clear focus on the goal of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, even in the face of great adversity.

Your Prophetic Promises Have an Adversary

Once Nehemiah and his cohort had successfully rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem, the enemies of the Israelites rose up. It’s a prophetic picture of opposition that we cannot overlook. As we cross the threshold of the prophetic promises God has placed over our lives in this season, often that advancement will irritate the enemy and cause him to try and strike back. How do we push through the enemy’s traps and assaults, to walk fully into our promise from God?

Clarity of Focus

Setting a perfect trap to entice Nehemiah and pull him away from finishing the reconstruction, the Israelites’ enemies rose up intending to harm him. “Come, let us meet together at Chephirim in the plain of Ono,” they said to Nehemiah. (Neh. 6:2, NASB). Receiving prophetic revelation from the Lord–”they are planning to harm me” (Neh. 6:2)—Nehemiah sends a message back to them. “I am doing a great work and cannot come down” (Neh. 6:3). I believe this is a key mindset for us in this hour!  Nehemiah tuned into what God was saying, and tuned out the adversarial voices.

Clear Focus Will Carry You Through the Testing

Just recently, Holy Spirit woke me up at 4:30 in the morning to speak to me. I love Holy Spirit wake up calls! Through a profound encounter with the Lord, I heard the phrase, “Clarity of focus will carry you in this season.”

The following questions were then presented to me by the Lord. “Who are you listening to right now? Is My voice the loudest?” I heard Him ask.

Let us not forget that as Jesus was just baptized and received the blessing and public honor from His Father, He was then led into the desert for a season of testing. Before He would begin to minister, deliver His first sermon and perform His first miracle, there was a time of testing from the enemy.

The devil met Him there in the desert and tempted Him when Jesus was weak from fasting. In our weakened state, the enemy tries to hit us and get us off course from reaching the promises of God for our lives.

What sustained Jesus and helped Him fight off the enemy was the Word of God!  “It is written …” Jesus quotes Scripture back at the enemy’s attacks, and the enemy loses his grip and has to try something else. We cannot overlook this. The power of the written Word of God breaks the enemy’s grip and causes him to back away from us.

So when the Lord said to me, “Who are you listening to right now?” and “Is My voice the loudest?”  I felt pressed to get more of the Word of God in me during this season. It’s a key to unlocking the promises over our lives.

Refocus, Find Direction and Step Into Your Assignment

“Where are you going right now? What is the assignment I gave you for this season? Refocus and find your direction,” I heard the Lord say next.

“Refocus and finish well” was the challenge presented to me that day. What has the Lord assigned to you? Often, as we wait for a promise to come, discouragement steps in and tries to get us distracted and off course. When Nehemiah was so close to finishing the construction of the wall, distraction tried to pull him away. His response is awesome: “I can’t come meet you right now. I have to finish what God has given me to do!”

Nehemiah recognized that it was the plan of the enemy to set him off course and also do him harm. When you are close to finishing or walking into the promises of God of your life, do not get distracted by the small assaults of the enemy. Claim this same tenacious spirit that Nehemiah carried, and keep your focus clear.

Lastly, I heard the Lord say “Declare it and declare it again.”

Even when we can’t see the answers to our prayers, let us pick up our faith and believe that God is a God of the impossible. He is moving, whether we can see it or not. Our prayers move the heart of God.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Eph. 3:20-21).

If You Believe What This Says About Judge Roy Moore, Send it to Everyone You Know in Alabama

The recent number of alleged sexual assault charges brought forth is unprecedented. From movie mogul Harvey Weinstein to Congressman John Conyers and Senator Al Franken to Matt Lauer of NBC—all have been accused of sexual impropriety.

From a Christian perspective, we can be thankful there at least seems to be some limit to what is morally acceptable.

But from a secular perspective, it seems as though almost any behavior is condoned. No wonder these sexual assault charges arise when promiscuity and immorality are so prevalent in our culture.

I have been a supporter of Judge Roy Moore, and I respect the way he stands up for Judeo-Christian values. I even made a contribution to his campaign. Judge Moore, who will face a very serious battle for a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama in a special race on Dec. 12, has also been accused of sexual misconduct. When these rumors come to light, it makes you wonder about their validity.

Sometimes allegations of sexual misconduct are absolutely true and should be dealt with, as with former President Bill Clinton. Other times they are trumped up, as I believe they were for Donald Trump right before his election as president last November.

There are conspiracy theories presented by some that say that Moore’s opponents will stop at nothing to see him defeated.

Most likely, the charges against Moore won’t be proven or disproven before the election, but his opponents have done their job to raise doubts in voters’ minds.

I admit that I wondered if the rumors were true. An old adage has it that where there is smoke, there is fire, but as I talk with friends such as Janet Porter and also with my friend Tom Ertl, there is reason to believe the charges are completely false.

Below is a guest editorial Tom wrote that we published online. It has already been viewed by more than 40,000 people. If you know anyone in Alabama, please forward this to them or share it with your social media followers. He makes a very strong case for Judge Moore’s innocence.

Guest Editorial

To the Christian Community: ‘You Are

Being Played’ About Judge Roy Moore

By Tom Ertl

Dear Alabama Christians,

In my 50 years of following national political races I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one as strange as the current U.S. Senate race in your state.

First, we had the national Republican Party in the September Senate run-off working against the state’s more popular candidate Judge Roy Moore in favor of their establishment candidate, and former D.C. lobbyist, Luther Strange. The D.C. Republicans flooded Strange with money only to see him lose by a significant nine-point margin.

Then, in the general election, this very same GOP-Washington establishment continues to undermine Moore in favor of electing a senator from the Democratic Party. We might have to go all the way back to Goldwater to find anything that resembles these unusual political circumstances.

In their attempt to destroy their own candidate, the Republican hierarchy has colluded with its media nemesis, The Washington Post, to promote a smear campaign against Judge Roy Moore.

GOP–Washington Post Collusion

On Nov. 9, 2017, The Washington Post broke the story of four women with their alleged accounts of their 38-year-old dating experience with Roy Moore. As soon as the story broke, the usual cast of “swamp” creatures surfaced with feigned outrage, demanding that Moore step down from the race. McConnell, McCain, Flake and Romney issued their immediate demand without any examination of facts. Their instant condemnation of Moore gave evidence of their orchestration. Within days, other GOP establishment elites including Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, chimed in to condemn Moore.

The Washington Post describes the accusers claims of dates they went on with Moore when they were in their late teens. The more serious charge of the four was given by Leigh Corfman who alleged that, when she was 14, Moore sexually assaulted her.

Corfman would have been the key witness in bringing down Moore, but within days, substantial credibility issues of this witness were uncovered when it was found out that Corfman had been married three times, filed bankruptcy three times and had accused three pastors of sexual misconduct. The last of these points completely discredited her testimony, but the national press and the GOP establishment continue to repeat the allegations as though they were true.

The Post story further crumbled when one of the accusers, Debbie Gibson, turned out to be a Democrat operative, who had worked for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden and at the time was campaigning for Doug Jones.

So, when the initial round of accusers lacked the hoped-for effect, the establishment rolled out one Beverly Young Nelson on Nov. 13, accompanied by none other than the infamous feminist, Gloria Allred, all set for a prime-time New York City press conference. Should we expect anyone less than Ms. Allred for such an event?

Ms. Nelson produced a tearful scene of Moore taking her in his car when she was 16 years old behind a restaurant and sexually assaulting her. It was compelling theater complete with a yearbook signature, tears, tissues and comforting hugs from Ms. Allred. So convincing was the display that at the time it moved some conservatives away from Moore.

But like Ms. Corfman, upon closer examination of the evidence, Ms. Nelson’s accounts also started crumbling. Within hours, photos of the yearbook were examined and found to be a forgery. Ms. Nelson’s stepson went public, declaring his stepmother’s allegations to be “100-percent lies” and on the following day, evidence surfaced revealing that Judge Moore had presided over Mrs. Nelson’s 1999 divorce without her objection. A second Moore accuser totally discredited!

By this time, the citizens of Alabama were starting to awaken to the lies and smear campaign against Judge Moore.

Saul Alinsky Tactics

The tactics used against Judge Moore are right out of the Marxist, Saul Alinsky’s playbook in his Rules for Radicals.

“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

“If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.”

“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.”

“Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)”

The opposition to Judge Roy Moore used a classic Alinsky approach of destroying the man, not his ideas. They know they cannot win the election debate over issues that affect the people of Alabama so they sought to destroy the person.

The False Witness Business Model

Throughout human history, a deep pool of false witnesses has been available anytime and at any price, and 2017 Alabama is not an exception.

Usually, in the more public high-profile cases where corrupt men procure their liars, they do a more thorough job of vetting their false witnesses. Ms. Corfman’s and Ms. Nelson’s credibility were destroyed so quickly that we can conclude that their organizers have been very sloppy in their recruitment and orchestration.

Alabama Christians, do you think that the four women who came out at the same time on Nov. 9 to give their story to The Washington Post did this spontaneously after 38 years had elapsed? Do you think Ms. Nelson also, after 38-plus years, had a sudden inspiration to call Gloria Allred to help ease her pain?

No and no. All of this has been orchestrated by political agents looking to destroy a good man. Can you imagine the expense, time and research these men must have gone through to coordinate these attacks on Judge Moore?  We also know from our own biblical history that false witnesses do not come without a cost.

Let me also ask you your thoughts on The Washington Post. Do you think that this deep-state paper which has continually labored to keep the pedophilia and assorted sexual perversions of their political associates under wraps, now on Nov. 9, suddenly became concerned with the welfare of women in Alabama dating from 1977? Has The Washington Post suddenly seen the light about the moral condition of the country and its politicians?

No, not at all. But they know you do. They know that the Christian people of Alabama demand character in their political leaders while across the political aisle; issues of character are mostly irrelevant.

Thus, we have the real purpose of the Washington Post article: to orchestrate a smear campaign against Moore in order to suppress the Christian vote in the Alabama Senate race.

These people know the mind of the average Christian and their desire for godly character and public morality. If they can take the experience of dating younger women and turn it into the perception of an under-age sexual assault, then they would have driven a permanent wedge between Christian voters and their Christian candidate.

My call to the Christian community in Alabama is to stop being naïve. Seek to know how the world works. You are being played. Being played is defined as:

“Lied to, set up to be taken advantage of. To be cheated by a setup of actions or circumstances that have been deliberately planned.”

Do you think that instead of being emotionally manipulated by false reports, it would be prudent to reserve judgment until the facts are discerned?  Do you think the proverb applies to the circumstances regarding Judge Moore?

“The first one to plead his case seems right, until another comes forward and examines him” (Prov. 18:17, NASB).

Bearing False Witness 38 Years Later

In times past, bearing false witness (or more commonly known today as “slander”) came with severe penalties. In the case laws of the Bible, slander came with a greater civil penalty than many sexual sins and thievery. One can always restore a stolen bike or a car, but how can a good name be restored after it is dragged through the mud with lies and deceit?

As a Christian, should not your outrage and anger be directed at these false witnesses and those who have orchestrated such lies?

For these women to bring up accusations based on an alleged incident 38 years ago is on its face, absurd. This is why in the Christian West we have “statutes of limitation” written into our legal system.

Sir William Blackstone, the most respected jurist who greatly impacted early American jurisprudence, wrote in his Commentaries on the Laws of England:

“The use of these statutes of limitation is to preserve the peace of the kingdom and to prevent those innumerable perjuries which might ensue if a man were allowed to bring an action for an injury committed at any distance of time.”

If the ruling establishment is successful in Judge Moore’s election defeat, then what Christian man in Alabama or the nation would not be susceptible to the same defamation when allegations, by themselves, become the new standard for guilt?

Conclusion

Conservatives across the country have written much about the out of state influences in your Senate race. There is an ever-growing number of Alabamians who realize that their Senate election is being manipulated by political operatives in Washington, D.C. They do not view this kindly.

The tide has taken a turn in the second week after the Post story broke. Many national commentators including President Trump are now taking a more reserved position, declaring: “Let the people of Alabama decide their own election.”

Christian, naiveté is not a virtue. Be aware of the deceptions of this world and the devices of how corrupt men manipulate both mind and emotion for their political purposes. Use your common sense and biblical wisdom to understand the recent events in your state.

Your Senate race has garnered national attention because it is one of the most important ones in decades, important because it will help determine the leadership and future direction of the Republican Party and to the eventual restoration of the American republic.

This election goes beyond a battle between two opposite political views and candidates of Moore vs. Jones. It is also a battle against two forces with two different visions for the future of the GOP. The players are McConnell and Ryan on one side, representing the older establishment, globalist, Bush wing of the Republican Party vs. Steve Bannon and President Trump, who embody the America-First, anti-globalist, economic nationalism movement.

Not voting for Judge Moore on Dec. 12 is a vote for partial-birth abortion, same-sex marriage, globalism, open borders and a liberal Supreme Court.

Finally, remember the account in Genesis 39 when Joseph was falsely accused of a sexual assault by Potiphar’s wife. Joseph spent two years in an Egyptian prison before he was vindicated. We don’t have two years to wait. Judge Roy Moore needs to be vindicated by the people of Alabama on Dec. 12. {eoa}

Joyce Meyer: God Is Calling You to Be a Prisoner of Hope

God is good. And He has a good plan for each of our lives. No matter what may be going on right now, God’s plan is unfolding. In the meantime, Rom. 12:12 (NLT) tells us to “Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.”

I think that’s good advice, especially in times when it feels like we’ve been waiting and waiting … and waiting for something to happen in our lives. Hope is vital in times like these and it will keep us looking ahead, anticipating, expecting whatever it is we’re hoping for.

Over the years I’ve learned how to lock myself up in a prison of hope, knowing that God has nothing but His best planned for me. He promised me things concerning my ministry and my life. And hope is what helped me hold on in those early years when it got hard.

Anticipation

I remember when it was just three weeks into my marriage to Dave and he asked me one day, “What’s wrong with you? You have such a negative attitude!”

I said, “Well, if you don’t expect anything good to happen, then you won’t be disappointed when it doesn’t.” That was how I felt based on my past experiences. I had a very negative outlook on life, so I spoke negatively about it.

This is the way I used to live … before I became a prisoner of hope. As I grew in my relationship with God, I learned how to trust Him, how to stand on His Word and how to stand my ground in prayer when it got tough. Today, my outlook on life is completely different from what it was many years ago. Now, I enjoy my life, and I encourage others to enjoy theirs as well.

Jesus died for us to live an abundant, fulfilling life. And hope is the confident, favorable expectation of the life we can have in Him.

Double for Your Trouble

Now, I do realize there are many things that can happen to us that aren’t so enjoyable. And that can make it difficult to grasp the idea of enjoying life. So, think of it this way: What are you hoping for? What are you expecting in life? What are you looking forward to? Focus on that.

My negative outlook was due to my attitude about all the bad things that had happened to me. I was stuck in the pain of my past, so I didn’t believe anything good would happen in my future. Because of all of the negative things that had happened, I was programmed to believe that negative things would always happen. I lost hope.

Well, God was there, and He knew that. But over time, He kept loving me and dealing with me, promising me what Isaiah 61:7 says: “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours” (NIV).

That’s an amazing promise for us all—a promise of double for your trouble! Double the blessing … double the joy … double the peace! Now doesn’t that inspire hope in your heart?

Of course, this double-blessing promise isn’t for the double-minded. When you walk it out in everyday life, there will be times when doubt, fear, unbelief and weariness will come against you. It’s in these times you will need to fight a good fight of faith. You will need to guard your mind against negativity about your situation. I encourage you to find out what God says about it and then stand on the promises in His Word.

The Bible tells of many times when people encountered Jesus and He touched their lives, and how they wanted to stay with Him and follow Him. But He sent them home—back to everyday life—to live out and share with others what He’d done for them.

They had to hold on to what He had done for them. And in the same way, we must hold on to whatever He promises us and be confident that He is working in our situation. Hope releases the power of the Holy Spirit in these times.

Hope

I want to encourage you to make a decision to cultivate an attitude of hope in your life. Speak positive things about your future and refuse to be negative. You may not always feel hopeful but don’t give in to your feelings. Catering to bad feelings feeds and empowers them. But standing our ground and not giving in to negative feelings starves them and causes them to lose their power over us.

Just ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Line your will up with His and get excited about serving God. You could become a person who inspires others to become prisoners of hope!
