BREAKING: At Least 3 Children Hurt in Elementary School Attack

At least three children were hurt in a shooting on Wednesday at an elementary school in Anderson County, South Carolina, and a suspect was believed to be in custody, the Greenville News said.

The shooting at Townville Elementary School, located near the Georgia state line, was reported just after 2 p.m., the newspaper said.

The incident drew a large police response and prompted an evacuation of the school, located 100 miles (160 km) northeast of Atlanta, the paper said.

Reuters could not immediately reach the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office for comment. {eoa}

Mainstream Media Covers Kids Who Pillage and Plunder; But Not Kids Who Pray

When you dropped your kids off at school today, you probably saw a bunch of students gathered around the flag pole.

Those kids were part of See You at the Pole—a national prayer gathering.

Some 2 million young people woke up before sunrise to pray with their classmates. Many of you posted photos on my Facebook page of students praying in your hometowns—from Staten Island, New York to Stinking Creek, Kentucky.

There were first graders and freshmen holding hands on this cool autumn day to pray for our nation—to cry out, as the Psalmist said so many centuries ago.

This year’s theme is “We Cry Out—A Generation Seeking Him!”

“Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face” (Ps. 24:3-6).

See You at the Pole is a yearly tradition that started in 1990 in Burleson, Texas. What began as a small group of teenagers turned into a global movement. And today, some 2 million students in all 50 states will petition the Almighty.

Lord knows we need it, folks.

As inspirational as this story may be, it’s unlikely you will see these young people on the evening news.

It seems that kids who pillage and plunder generate more ratings than kids who pray.

But truth be told, the only prayer our nation has may be as a result of those kids.

This Myth Is Destroying the Country

It’s often said, “There is only one race—the human race.” While the phrase has become almost cliché in repetition, it happens to be 100 percent accurate, both scientifically and theologically speaking.

From Ferguson to Baltimore, Tulsa to Charlotte—and on college campuses from coast-to-coast—a great divide is sweeping America. It is fueled largely, if not entirely, by half-truths and outright lies. Truth is irrelevant. Only the narrative matters. When “Hands Up Don’t Shoot™” can do so very much to further “the cause,” it matters not that it represents a holocaust-denial-level of detachment from reality.

Which tells you everything you need to know about the cause.

This is by design. These embers of racial division are purposely fanned to a red-hot flame by certain political leaders, “social justice” warriors and “community organizers”—cut principally from the same ideological cloth—in order to permanently ingrain a turbulent level of cultural division based solely upon the varying shades of people’s skin. This, in turn, is intended to provoke widespread governmental dependency and, thus, one-party political control in perpetuity.

Yet, even at its core the idea of racial division—of race itself—is a myth. To sub-divide humanity based upon nothing more than varying levels of skin pigmentation is to rely upon the weakest of genetic markers.

And “race” really does signify nothing more than skin color.

Science dispels the Myth of ‘Race’

In a Feb. 5 Scientific American article titled, “Race Is a Social Construct, Scientists Argue,” journalist Megan Gannon writes, “Today, the mainstream belief among scientists is that race is a social construct without biological meaning. And yet, you might still open a study on genetics in a major scientific journal and find categories like ‘white’ and ‘black’ being used as biological variables.”

“In an article published today (Feb. 4) in the journal Science,” continues Gannon, “four scholars say racial categories are weak proxies for genetic diversity and need to be phased out.”

“It’s a concept we think is too crude to provide useful information. It’s a concept that has social meaning that interferes in the scientific understanding of human genetic diversity, and it’s a concept that we are not the first to call upon moving away from,” notes Michael Yudell, professor of public health at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Under the latest genetic research, race is “understood to be a poorly defined marker of that diversity and an imprecise proxy for the relationship between ancestry and genetics,” he adds.

While not directly involved with the research, Dr. Svante Pääbo, a biologist and director of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany, agrees wholeheartedly with its findings. “What the study of complete genomes from different parts of the world has shown is that even between Africa and Europe, for example, there is not a single absolute genetic difference, meaning no single variant where all Africans have one variant and all Europeans another one, even when recent migration is disregarded.”

Still, as the researchers likewise note, “Assumptions about genetic differences between people of different races have had obvious social and historical repercussions.” Indeed, there are those on both extremes of the political spectrum with a vested interest in making sure these social and historical repercussions remain as inflamed and catastrophic as possible.

“Race” is a divisive means to a selfish political end.

It is not a scientific reality.

God’s Final Word on ‘Race’

We love labels. We love to pit people against one another and lump them into neat, fixed little categories of put-upons, most often based upon outward appearances: black vs. white; Hispanic vs. Asian; tall vs. short; skinny vs. fat; old vs. young; abled vs. disabled, and so on.

Yet these divisions are artificial. They’re man-made. Every human being is created by a holy God, in His image and likeness, and imbued by Him with infinite worth and import. There is only one true and transcendent physical division, and that division was both created and intended by God to become reconciled as one flesh through the holy bonds of marriage—this, to propagate the human race: “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Gen. 1:27).

Male and female. The XY and the XX. Immutable distinctions with a beautiful and bountiful difference. That’s it. All other physical divisions, especially racial divisions, remain artificial.

Our bodies, you see, are merely outward shells. As the great Scottish author and theologian George MacDonald once wrote, “Never tell a child ‘you have a soul.’ Teach him, ‘you are a soul; you have a body.'”

We are souls. We have a body—an outward shell or “Earth suit” as one of my favorite professors used to say. Why on God’s Earth are we so deceived to believe that we must separate ourselves and hate one another based upon superficial, almost cosmetic outward appearances?

“Now I urge you, brothers, to closely watch those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the teaching which you have learned, and avoid them” (Rom. 16:17).

To be sure, Christ Jesus alone can dissolve these divisions. “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is generous toward all who call upon Him” (Rom. 10:12).

These are not financial riches, but riches of love, life, spirit and salvation.

As a man with an Italian wife, a black sister-in-law, a Filipino uncle and biologically-related half Filipino cousins, a step-grandmother who illegally immigrated from Mexico, biologically-related half Mexican aunts and uncles, and dozens of foster brothers and sisters from across the globe, I have learned firsthand throughout my life that “race” is truly meaningless—it’s less than skin deep.

Until we learn this as a nation, we will remain a nation divided.

Yes, love is the answer. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34).

There is no political fix to this problem.

It’s a spiritual problem, requiring a spiritual fix.

And His name is Jesus.

Will Barack Obama Be The Next UN Secretary General?

In slightly less than four months, President Barack Obama will be without a job—unless he has another one already lined up.

Rumors are swirling that Obama is already lobbying to take the job of United Nations Secretary-General when Ban Ki-moon’s final five-year term expires on Dec. 31. Those rumors are similar to ones made in the final year of President Bill Clinton’s second term in office.

And like those 16-year-old rumors, these latest ones are false.

For starters, the process of replacing Ban is already well underway with 10 candidates—mainly from Eastern European nations—under consideration. The U.N. Security Council, which is required by Article 97 of the U.N. Charter to make the appointment of a successor, is already holding straw votes over:

  • António Guterres—a former Portuguese prime minister and U.N. high commissioner
  • Dr. Srgjan Kerim—a former Macedonian foreign minister and President of the 62nd U.N. General Assembly
  • Dr. Danilo Türk—a former Slovenian president and former U.N. Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs
  • Irina Bokova—a Bulgarian and current Director-General of the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
  • Natalia Gherman—a former Moldovan foreign affairs minister and former deputy prime minister
  • Helen Clark—a former New Zealand prime minister and current administrator of the U.N. Development Program
  • Vuk Jeremić—a former Serbian foreign affairs minister and President of the 67th U.N. General Assembly
  • Susana Malcorra—current foreign minister of Argentina and a former U.N. General Secretariat cabinet chief, serving under Ban
  • Miroslav Lajčák—current Slovak deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs
  • Kristalina Georgieva—a Bulgarian who currently serves as European Commissioner for the Budget and Human Resources

After two rounds of straw ballots in the Security Council, Guterres is the current front-runner for the job. But Georgieva is a brand-new candidate, having joined the race Wednesday morning. The next round of unofficial balloting will take place next Wednesday.

Throwing President Obama into the mix would not just ruffle a lot of feathers, it would require some unprecedented maneuvers, both at the U.N. Headquarters in New York City and in Washington, D.C. While it’s not a written rule, it has been the longstanding custom that the U.N. Secretary-General should not be the citizen of a country that is a permanent member of the council: the U.S., Russia, China, France, and the United Kingdom.

Additionally, General Assembly resolution 51/241, adopted in 1997, stated that the appointment of a new Secretary-General must be done by taking into account a candidate’s region and gender. Of the eight secretaries-general so far, none have been women, and none have come from Eastern Europe, Australia/Oceania, or North America/Latin America.

Even if an Obama candidacy overcame those hurdles, there’s the fact that Ban’s term ends 21 days before Obama’s term as president ends. Although there is precedent for the position to remain vacant for an extended period of time—particularly during the Cold War when the U.S. and Soviet Union often failed to agree on a candidate—the last four secretaries-generals’ terms began immediately at the conclusion of their predecessors’.

For that to happen, Obama would have to resign the presidency in order to take the new job, which would make Vice President Joe Biden the 45th President of the United States—albeit for just three weeks—until the winner of November’s general election could be sworn in on the constitutionally-appointed date.

This Truth Can Sustain You When Your Willpower Runs Out

Transformation is this mysterious process that results in a “thorough or dynamic change in form or appearance.” Yep, I have transformed. There’s no doubt about it. But to do it, I had to admit my weakness in order to access His strength. It was there all the time, but I had no access because I was trying to do it all!

Changing Habits

God is the author of change. If I am going to transform, I need Him. I must seek and deeply long for Him and for His strength, His power and His might. I must deeply long for His face and His presence continually (Ps. 105:4).

Changing a habit is pretty easy. We do it all the time, but transformation is a process of surrender, obedience and commitment.

Change is possible on willpower alone, for a short time. However, willpower runs out eventually even for those with the most determination. We need God’s help in order for change to be lasting—in order for change to become transforming.

Transformation is a complete lifestyle change. It’s not possible on self-effort alone. Most of us have been raised to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps, to make it on our own, to try harder, reach higher, fly longer. God has designed us to accomplish great and mighty things, but only if we recognize the Source of our ability to even breathe.

God’s power to transform is available to all believers. It’s actually a simple process, but for some it’s oh so hard to step into.

I Am Weak

The Apostle Paul was pretty hard-headed, actually. I mean, God had to blind him and speak to him audibly to get him to believe. Then, later, God determined Paul needed a constant reminder of where his Source of power resided.

God told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9).

“For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor. 12:10), but only through the strength of God. However, He won’t barge in and take over. He will patiently wait until I tell Him, “I just can’t do this. I need something only You can do, God.”

In order to be strong, I have to have Paul’s mindset. “So I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in hardships, in persecutions, and in distresses for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor. 12:10). And then my weakness becomes a portal for God’s strength! How very cool is that?

Toward Transformation

After I surrender to Him, though, there is another step. It’s not enough just to lay on the floor feeling weak. We have to seek and deeply long for His face. This is far from an idle process. It is active. It is ongoing and it is necessary to obtain total transformation.

Moses saw God’s face. When He returned from that face-to-face encounter, his face shone so brightly he had to put a veil over it (2 Cor. 3:12-15). Ah, but God tells us today that there is no veil necessary. He will be with us continually if we want Him to, if we seek Him.

Seeking Has Results

Here’s the thing about seeking God: Once we find Him, we must go with Him wherever He goes and do whatever He does. If not, we have ceased to seek Him. Seeking is not only an action in and of itself, but it results in an action.

Are you seeking? Are you deeply longing for His face? Do you really want His presence? Are you willing to do what He wants instead of demanding He do what you want?

Transformation is a process for sure. It begins with total surrender of everything, especially the things we think we can’t live without, to God. Nothing happens without surrender. If we seek Him and long deeply for Him, surrender will naturally be the next step. {eoa}

The Senate Votes Overwhelmingly to Override 9/11 Bill Veto

The U.S. Senate voted 97-1 Wednesday to override President Obama’s veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, a bipartisan bill meant to offer the families of victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to sue the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over its potential involvement.

The lone vote against the bill was Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), although he gave no reason for the vote. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has already said she supports the measure and expects it to pass the House when it is brought up.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has not yet announced when a vote will occur. It faces a much more uncertain fate there, due in large part to opposition from House Armed Services Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-Texas), who said he is concerned about the bill’s potential long-term consequences.

CIA Director John Brennan and Secretary of Defense Ash Carter have both publicly stated their opposition to an override, saying it will have a negative impact upon the CIA and U.S. military if other countries take reciprocal action. Senators who had been on the fence about the bill said they ultimately voted for the override because they believed Congress could effectively deal with any reciprocal acts.

The JASTA vote fell against the backdrop of continued negotiations over federal funding to help the citizens of Flint, Michigan, with their contaminated water system. During debate on JASTA, Reid announced there had been a break in those negotiations—suggesting he may have tried to filibuster the bill to get a concession—a break that was later confirmed by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

A vote on funding for Flint is now expected to occur during a lame-duck session following Nov. 8 general election. That had been a sticking point in getting a vote on a continuing resolution to fund the government beyond Friday—a bill that McConnell said would be on its way to the House later in the day Wednesday.

Guess How Much Donald Trump’s Campaign Took in After Monday’s Debate

Less than 24 hours after debating his Democratic counterpart, Hillary Clinton, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was celebrating another “win.”

In a statement sent to the media Wednesday morning, the Trump campaign announced it had raised $18 million. The campaign said the 24-hour haul was a signal of “momentum of historic proportions.”

“As a result of Donald Trump’s huge debate win last night, we had a massive fundraising day bringing in more than $18 million,” the campaign’s finance chair, Steven Mnuchin, said. “This is a movement to Make America Great Again. We are grateful for the support of millions of Americans across the country. With this kind of energy and generous support behind us, we are going to have President Donald J. Trump in the White House.”

The campaign said it launched a “national call day” following the debate, breaking its fundraising team into smaller teams—similar to how contestants were grouped on Trump’s reality TV show The Apprentice. The teams were:

  • Team YUUUGE: Lew Eisenberg, Cara Mason, Woody Johnson, Carie Bock and Allison Macintosh
  • Team MAGA: Steven Mnuchin, Elliott Broidy, Ray Washburne, Brandi Marks and Amanda Ober
  • Team IRREDEEMABLES: Michael Cohen, Anthony Scaramucci and Lindsey Reynolds
  • Team DEPLORABLES: Roy Bailey, Gentry Beach, Tommy Hicks, Alden Wood, Rachel Kelley and Mallory Hunter
  • Team Trump Digital Fundraising: Brad Parscale
  • Team Trump: Governor Mike Pence, Chairman Reince Priebus, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and Eli Miller

“The National Call Day was a tremendous success,” Trump Victory Finance Chairman Lew Eisenberg said. “Many donors came on board as Donald J. Trump rolls on to victory.”

Following the announcement, the campaign made a push to exceed $20 million. As of this writing, it was less than $1 million from reaching the goal prior to the 1 p.m. EDT deadline.

North Korea Crushed Christians Under Steamroller, Hung Them on Crosses Above Fire, New Report Says

North Korea has crushed Christians under a steam roller, hung them on crosses above raging fires, herded them off bridges and other devastating forms of torture, according to a report.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide issued the report earlier this month to call action against the Communist state, which is the top persecutor of Christians worldwide, according to Open Doors.

The horrifying report reads:

Christians usually practice their faith in secret. If discovered, they are subject to detention and then likely taken to political prison camps (kwanliso); crimes against them in these camps include extra-judicial killing, extermination, enslavement/forced labor, forcible transfer of population, arbitrary imprisonment, torture, persecution, enforced disappearance, rape and sexual violence and other inhumane acts. Documented incidents against Christians include being hung on a cross over a fire, crushed under a steamroller, herded off bridges and trampled underfoot. A policy of guilt by association applies, meaning that the relatives of Christians are also detained regardless of whether they share the Christian belief. Even North Koreans who have escaped to China, and who are or become Christians, are often repatriated and subsequently imprisoned in a political prison camp.

Open Doors reports 50,000-70,000 Christians are in North Korean labor camps that hearken back to the Holocaust.

To halt the abuse and torture, Christian Solidarity Worldwide, who released the report, asks the world to step up.

Specifically, they are calling on the United Nations to intervene:

  • Hold regular briefings on the human rights situation in the DPRK with the participation of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and other relevant experts
  • Ensure that human rights are central in any dialogue or negotiations, whether bilateral or multilateral, between the DPRK and any Member State
  • Call for the adoption of a Security Council resolution addressing human rights and impunity in the DPRK
  • Support the referral of the human rights situation in the DPRK to the ICC, based on the United Nations Commission of Inquiry’s finding that crimes against humanity are being perpetrated
  • Investigate the possibility of creating an ad hoc tribunal of international lawyers and judges, past or present, to assess the evidence given to them and to maintain accountability regarding the crimes against humanity that are occurring in the DPRK
  • Support the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in their mandate, look to expand their capacity and ensure their continued independence, sufficient resources and security are maintained
  • Establish a human rights contact group on North Korea

The Key to Ministering to Trauma Victims

It is often necessary for personal ministry to take place regarding traumatic moments. I personally believe this should be part of the ministry of the church.

I do not think professionals should be the only ones helping others break free from a traumatic past. Often, it simply takes a loving friend with compassion and knowledge to walk them into freedom.

The key in ministering to trauma—with the goal of long-term freedom—involves bringing the person to resolution. When resolution occurs, the person remembers the experience but is no longer tormented by it.

The power of those tormenting memories can be broken first by addressing the spiritual tormentors that came in at the traumatic moment; they are the ones who came in to keep the torment intact. Removing these “back seat drivers” gives the person room to receive the love of God and develop a renewed perspective on life.

In ministering to trauma, our goal has never been to make the person forget the event or erase it from their memory. The goal is to remove the torment and inward conflict over the event. Remembering the event without the torment gives the person the ability to express their testimony of what God has done in their life to set them free. The testimony of the believer is one of the core weapons we have to defeat the enemy’s work.

In addressing traumas, the power of forgiveness is imperative. Those who wronged us or failed to love and protect us must be forgiven, or we will never be free from our past. Without forgiveness, there will never be proper healing of the past.

In addition, the love of Father God needs to be understood so that perfect love can invade us in power. Coming out of agreement with what the enemy brought in is a very key component of walking out of the bondage. This involves repenting and turning from fear, rejection, self-hatred, guilt and whatever else seems to still be in operation. Each one needs to be removed in the power of the Holy Spirit. {eoa}

Report: Hillary Clinton Didn’t Receive Highest Security Training

According to new documents released by the State Department as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton never received the highest security training required by the State Department.

The 46 pages of documents released Tuesday show that Clinton’s top aides, Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin, received the training. According to a Daily Caller report Wednesday morning:

Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and Huma Abedin, her deputy chief, both completed required training on the handling of “Special Compartmented Information” (SCI) when they entered the department.

A document signed by Mills Jan. 29, 2009, and one signed by Abedin the next day indicated that both officials “Completed SCI indoctrination,” or top-level security training.

Missing from Tuesday’s release was any signed document confirming that Clinton completed the SCI training course.

Classified documents in the SCI category cover some of the nation’s most deeply guarded secrets, including material obtained by U.S. intelligence agencies through signals intelligence, human intelligence and satellite intelligence.

Human intelligence relates to “human assets,” or spies embedded in foreign governments or informants working for the U.S. among “state actors,” such as terrorist groups.

The Daily Caller News Foundation filed its FOIA demand after it was discovered that Clinton’s use of a private email server and a Blackberry device had violated State Department security protocols. They also interviewed U.S. Army Col. Jim Waurishuk (ret.), who oversaw security protocols as deputy director for intelligence at the U.S. Central Command and served on the White House National Security Council staff.

“It’s hard to believe, particularly as it was her first year in office as secretary of state,” he was quoted as saying. “The standard process is you will get all your security indoctrination done immediately upon taking office.

“I don’t care if you’re a GS-1 or a private or a four-star general or president of the United States. You’re going to go through your security indoctrination, particularly in the position of secretary of state.”
