Should America Have a Muslim President?

Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson was asked, “Should a president’s faith matter?” He replied, “Well, I guess it depends on what that faith is. If it’s inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter.”

The questioner then asked, “So do you believe that Islam is consistent with the Constitution?” Carson replied, “No, I don’t, I do not. … I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that.”

A firestorm erupted. Several presidential candidates quickly quoted Article VI of the Constitution, “No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” But Carson did not state that a Muslim is disqualified for office. Rather, he stated that he considered Islamic law (Sharia) and the Constitution to be incompatible.

Is this true?

To paraphrase Carson, the answer depends on the kind of Sharia in question. There are five “schools” of Sharia, ranging from Hanbali (the most fundamental, embraced in Saudi Arabia and by the Taliban) to Hanafi (the most liberal, dominant in Turkey).

In addition, Sharia can be related to governance in three ways:

One: a completely secular Muslim nation (Turkey, for example).

Two: a dual legal system where the government is secular but Muslims can bring family and financial disputes to Sharia courts. A similar approach is practiced in America with regard to the Amish and Orthodox Jews.

Three: a “government under God,” where Islam is the official religion and Sharia is the source of all laws (as in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates).

The theoretical compatibility of Sharia with the U.S. Constitution depends on the approach to Sharia one takes. (For more on this issue, please see my Is Islam Compatible With American Democracy?) My purpose today is neither to agree with Carson nor to criticize him. Rather, it is to consider the backlash his comments provoked.

This is not a practical question, as no one is discussing an actual Muslim presidential candidate. Nor are Carson’s supporters and detractors engaged in an academic discussion of constitutional and Islamic jurisprudence.

It seems to me that some on both sides are motivated by fear. Some are afraid of encroaching Islamic influence on our country and culture. Others are afraid of encroaching evangelical influence on our politics and society.

However, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and self-control” (2 Tim. 1:7). Jesus warned us, “Do not fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matt. 10:28).

There has never been and will never be a perfect government. Imperfect people make imperfect laws, which they enforce imperfectly. When we fear for the future of our society, let us turn to the one whose kingdom will endure 10,000 millennia after the last earthly nation has fallen. Let us speak his truth in love (Eph. 4:15) and live for His eternal glory. And let us remember that we are in His hand, always (John 10:29).

Yesterday was a significant day for me personally for two reasons. The first is that my mother died on Sept. 28, 2008. She stepped from death into life, from our fallen planet into God’s perfect paradise. Her homegoing reminds me that earth is not my home.

The second is that my spiritual mentor, C.S. Lewis, came to Christian faith on Sept. 28, 1931. No one knew then the global significance of his conversion, least of all Lewis. But millions of people around the world have been touched by his reasoned faith. His conversion reminds me that God will use today’s obedience for eternal purpose.




5 Prophetic Signs in the Heavens That Converge in 2015

A key theme of my book, Blood Moons Rising, is how five prophetic signs, including the four blood moons, are warning that we may be coming upon a very turbulent period for mankind. And as I will discuss, this is already happening. However, I believe that, starting in September and October of 2015 through 2016, it may get progressively worse.

There are five great signs in the heavens that all converge in 2015. Among these signs are the blood moons which culminate with the fourth and final total lunar eclipse on Sept. 27, which also happens to be the High Holy Jewish feast day of Sukkot. It is very significant how all the other signs seem to be converging in September/October 2015, and all during High Holy feast days.

A blood moon is a total lunar eclipse. It is called a blood moon because of the reddish color that the moon takes on as the earth passes in between the sun and the moon. 

After Sept. 27, we will have witnessed 4 blood moons; all four having occurred on high holy feast days that God had appointed for the Hebrews as recorded in the ancient Scriptures. This is significant because the ancient Rabbis reveal that when these signs occur during God’s appointed feast days, it means that God is warning of something big about to happen.

By the way, we also experienced two solar eclipses in the midst of these blood moons, which are considered to be an omen for the world. 

God revealed in the book of Genesis that the heavenly bodies would not only be for seasons but also for signs. In the Gospel of Luke, God revealed that before the end of days there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. 

As if the blood moons and solar eclipses of 2014 and 2015 all happening on God’s appointed feast days were not enough, in Blood Moons Rising I reveal how the seven-year Shemitah, the 50-year Jubilee and related prophetic cycles are all converging in September/October 2015 and why this is so significant for mankind. 

We should take considerable notice of what has happened in the past two Shemitah years. Let’s review what has already taken place since the first blood moon of April 2014:

  • The emergence of the ISIS terrorist army.
     
  • Global economic and financial instability persists and may get exponentially worse in 2015/2016.
     
  • A massive exodus out of Syria by refugees.
     
  • Russia has moved significant assets including troops to the border.
     
  • Since 2014, there has been an alarming increase in the rate of violence and civil unrest in America.
     
  • In America, police shootings and policemen being shot has escalated since 2014.
     
  • In 2015, America entered into a nuclear deal with its sworn enemy, Iran.
     
  • Many already forgot that in 2014 Israel engaged in a war with Hamas and other terrorist groups.
     
  • Relations between the West and Russia have eroded since 2014 to Cold-War levels.
     
  • We experienced an Ebola virus outbreak in 2014 that even reached the USA.
     
  • In 2014 and 2015, three nations defaulted on their debt—Argentina, Greece and Puerto Rico; the latter being a U.S. territory.
     
  • In 2014, the USA started bombing missions in Iraq against the ISIS terrorist army. The USA built up a coalition of 10 nations that pledged to fight against this ISIS terror group. Yet to date we have witnessed little, if any, progress to stop this army 

I can go on and on, but I hope this makes my point.

I believe that the heavenly and prophetic signs that are converging right now have never been as important to heed. In my book I reveal and explain other significant prophetic cycles, such as the 49- to 50-year Jubilee and seven-year Shemitah cycle, which are also converging in 2015, and why this makes the 2015/2016 time frame as the most significant period for the unfolding of end-time events.

The One Issue Obama Is Using to Destroy Religious Liberty

At a recent Democratic Party fundraiser, President Obama reportedly said:

“We affirm that we cherish our religious freedom and are profoundly respectful of religious traditions … But we also have to say clearly that our religious freedom doesn’t grant us the freedom to deny our fellow Americans their constitutional rights.”

This is a perfect example of the incrementalism by which rights are diminished, relegated to second-class status, and eventually dismissed altogether.

President Obama’s comment may sound innocuous on its face, but what he’s actually saying is the First Amendment is to be subjugated to his own vision of society as implemented through his own view of the Fourteenth Amendment — a view which for our nation’s entire history was never even seriously considered right up to a few years ago.  It’s noteworthy that President Obama also publicly opposed same-sex marriage in the not-too-distant past — a fact which should tell us (and his current swooning supporters) something about his convictions. The “constitutional rights” to which he now so confidently refers are actually nonexistent in the text or meaning of the Constitution, only imposed on the nation through one ill-formed opinion of the Supreme Court.

On the other hand, the First Amendment (which he fails to even mention) has plainly and openly provided protection as the first of our Bill of Rights for centuries (since the founding of our country), clearly protects wide-ranging and robust religious practice, speech, and action, explicitly protects the “free exercise” of religion (which protects far more than the “religious traditions” and “religious institutions” the president references), explicitly prevents the government from “establish[ing]” what citizens must believe (in West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, the Court said, “no official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion, or other matters of opinion, or force citizens to confess by word or act their faith therein”), and has been consistently held by the courts to provide strong and wide-ranging protection from government interference and coercion in religious matters.

Thus, with one off-putting comment, President Obama attempts to use “rights” which aren’t even mentioned in our primary written legal authority (the Constitution) to denigrate rights which are clearly protected by the first provision of the Bill of Rights of that same Constitution.

As it’s said: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” 




Why Are These Republicans Helping MSNBC Create ‘Global Citizens’?

Stephen Colbert, Facebook Chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), the Chair of the Democratic National Committee, were among those appearing at the Global Citizen Festival on September 26, broadcast by cable channel MSNBC.

Incredibly, despite the left-wing slant of the event, Republican Senators Thad Cochran (MS) and Bob Corker (TN) lent their names to the Honorary Congressional Host Committee for the gathering, while Republican Rep. Charlie Dent (PA) was listed as a participant.

Labeled as an effort to eradicate poverty by 2030, the movement to create “global citizens” is actually designed to make the U.N. into a world government to manage a transition to a new worldwide economic system. It’s being called “sustainable development” but amounts to a system of global socialism—redistributing wealth from the United States to the rest of the world.

By the standards of this group, ordinary American citizens are considered greedy consumers, who, according to socialist presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), have too many choices of deodorant and sneakers. He believes a central government should decide on what should be produced and for whom.

The Global Citizen Festival takes this theory of centralized planning to the international level.

In an Orwellian version of “Uncle Sam Wants You,” MSNBC had announced that “MSNBC wants YOU to become a Global Citizen.” Their live coverage of the event, which was held in New York City’s Central Park, was hosted by Alex Wagner, Willie Geist and Janet Mock, and included performances by Pearl Jam and Beyoncé.

Officially, the Global Citizen Festival was supposed to promote 17 Global Goals, also known as Sustainable Development Goals, including that of taking “climate action” to address “climate change.” This was not defined in specific terms, but in December the U.N. holds a climate conference intended to produce a new treaty, which Obama supporters say he plans to implement through executive action, bypassing Congress.

When Pope Francis spoke to the United Nations on Friday, member countries officially “adopted” these Global Goals, which are supposed to be implemented by 2030.

However, the U.S. Congress has not been consulted or asked for a vote on the global agenda, and Republican leaders have been silent about the United Nations attempting to implement on a global basis what Congress has not passed in the form of legislation.

Republican Congressional leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner, gave Pope Francis a chance to promote aspects of the global agenda when he spoke to the Congress on Thursday. In his address, the pope referred to his encyclical on climate change, “Laudato Si’,” and urged action “to avert the most serious effects of the environmental deterioration caused by human activity.” He added, “I am convinced that we can make a difference and I have no doubt that the United States—and this Congress—have an important role to play.”

Yet Congress has not been called upon to accept, or reject, the “global goals” adopted by the Obama administration at the U.N.

Despite congressional silence, or acquiescence in the cases of Republican Senators Cochran and Corker and Rep. Dent, the U.N.’s goal of global socialism is out in the open, although few in the media even mention it. However, Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, has said publicly that the plan is to begin “the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, [changing] the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the industrial revolution.” The period 2015 to 2030 is when this transition from oil and gas is supposed to occur. The plan is nothing less than the overthrow of the global capitalist system that is powered by the use of energy and resources for the benefit of humankind.

Veering off into another cause dear to the hearts of the far-left, among the individuals providing on-stage video messages and commitments, was Juan Manuel Santos, the President of Colombia who just signed a “peace deal” in Havana with the Colombian narco-terrorists known as the FARC, who have been waging war on his country for 40 years.

Santos was actually photographed making the deal while holding hands with Cuban President Raúl Castro and a top FARC commander.

Former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe called the deal a surrender to terrorism and says it gives Marxist guerrillas an opportunity to rehabilitate themselves and infiltrate the political system.

With “peace” breaking out all over without a peep from Republicans in Congress, those using Google Chrome as a search engine on September 25 found a notice on the bottom of the Internet page urging people to click on a link to learn more about the UN’s global goals to “end poverty, climate change, and injustice.” That link led to the U.N.’s “sustainable development goals.”

As the channel leading the effort, MSNBC declared that through its partnership with the Global Citizen Festival it was “committed to connecting our audience with the stories and values that bring purpose and action to our global community.” This clearly means more media manipulation and liberal bias, in order to make the UN, a body always plagued by corruption, appear to be worthwhile.

In addition to MSNBC, other media properties sponsoring or broadcasting the event included NBC News and CNBC.

Additional corporate partners include The Huffington Post, Yahoo!, YouTube, and Wikipedia, which together have the ability to influence and propagandize the American people with pro-U.N. messages.

Not to be outdone, movie theaters around the country and the world promoted the so-called “Global Goals Campaign” through a 60-second ad narrated by Liam Neeson (as the voice of God), and featuring animated creatures (as UN officials) calling on the nations of the world to “defeat climate change.”

But that’s not all. “We’re working to get the Global Goals onto every website and billboard, broadcast on every TV station and radio station, in every cinema and classroom, pinned to every community noticeboard and sent to every mobile phone,” the movement announced.

So look for America’s young people to get indoctrinated about the “global goals,” perhaps through Common Core.

We are truly witnessing a massive international campaign, using most major organs of the media, to “fundamentally transform” the world.

But there’s more. While socialist Bernie Sanders has been quick to attack the “billionaire class” on the campaign trail, those behind this new global citizen movement being put at the service of the UN proudly insisted that a grand total of 137 billionaires had “pledged to use their money for good” in the future, undoubtedly by giving more money to far-left and pro-U.N. causes.

It was announced that something called the “Giving Pledge,” defined as “a campaign that encourages the wealthiest people in the world to give most of their wealth to philanthropic causes,” had “been signed by 137 billionaire or former billionaire individuals or couples.” It was originally announced in 2010 by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was among the “notable younger pledgers.”

Zuckerberg was also among the attendees at Friday night’s White House state dinner for Xi Jingping, the President of Communist China.

This crowd has apparently decided to ignore the lack of human freedom in China, and regards the communist regime as a trustworthy player to bring about a new global state. {eoa}

CNN Commentator: Carson and Trump May Have ‘Blood on Their Hands’

Following statements by Dr. Ben Carson that he would not “advocate” that a Sharia-compliant Muslim be elected president, and a non-comment by Donald Trump who brushed off a question about American Muslims at a town hall meeting, a CNN commentator has said the two men may “have blood on their hands.” CNN panelist Rula Jebreal warned that their words may inspire someone to commit anti-Islamic terrorism at a mosque.

Did their comments really cross a line, or they being persecuted for speaking the truth?




Did ‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Willie Robertson Just Endorse Donald Trump?

Willie Robertson “does like me some Trump.”  

“Here’s the deal. We’re both successful businessmen. We both have pretty big shows on television,” the Duck Dynasty star said at a Donald Trump rally. “We both have wives that are 1,000 times better looking than us, so I like Trump.” 

If the Republican front-runner gets Robertson’s vote, though, it’s one away from Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.  

Robertson pledged Jindal his support in July, Charisma News reported.  

“Last week, my friend Bobby Jindal announced his campaign for president. I’m excited he is running. Bobby has my vote,” Robertson posted on a fundraising page.  

He continued: “I know the values Bobby has. He is a good man. An honest man. A godly man. And I’m proud to call him a friend. … We are blessed to live in the greatest country in the world. We need Bobby’s leadership to help fix the mess in Washington. I’m the kind of guy who really likes smart people—and Bobby’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever met in my life.” 

Media have questioned Trump’s faith values before, but the business tycoon was present at the Values Voter Summit recently.  

At the Summit, Trump told CBN’s David Brody he is a praying man.




How Not to Cheat in a Relationship

When you Google “cheating,” you come up with a lot of websites that will help you do it. That tells a lot about our society.

On your wedding day, cheating is the farthest thing from your mind. You may even think: We love each other. That will never happen to us. It’s important to realize that none of us are above it.

When you don’t take the measures to protect your marriage from cheating, you will find yourself even more vulnerable to temptation. How to not cheat in a relationship is to continually practice activities that keep you from it.

Here are 3 things my wife Lauren and I do:

1. Realize we are not above it. The minute you think it couldn’t happen to you is when your guard goes down. That mentality will put you in a much weaker position and make you more susceptible to wander. It’s important to be alert and focused on your commitment to your spouse.

2. Reading Scripture. God’s word is instrumental in both Lauren’s and my life. It keeps us focused on His ways rather than our own, which helps us hold to what is right both morally and in our relationship.

3. Talk and pray about it. Talking about it keeps us connected and on the same page. It ensures that nothing comes in between us. Similar to reading Scripture, praying about it focuses our minds and hearts on the right things. However, it also invites God’s protection over our marriage and His daily renewal.

Will Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards Answer to God for Selling Baby Parts?

Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest said that when Americans see Cecile Richards sitting before a Congressional Committee, “It is the culmination of years of work and careful analysis of a horrific business model that ends the lives of 1 in 3 infants who die in abortion.”

AUL called for hearings in 2011 when introducing “The Case for Investigating Planned Parenthood,” which detailed numerous troubling issues with the mega-abortion provider, including mishandling federal funds and failure to report sexual predators who use abortion to destroy the human evidence of their crimes. Those issues are magnified today in images from the Center for Medical Progress videos showing Planned Parenthood top officials discussing the profits they make from selling dismembered infant bodies and body parts for experimentation.

“It’s time to defund an abortion industry, that fights health and safety standards for women, so that they can keep profits high and standards low,” said Yoest. “Cecile Richards must answer for her inhumane business model and detail what she is doing with millions in taxpayer dollars. Monetizing the end of an infant’s unborn life is her gruesome expertise.”

Richards takes the stand before Congress about a week after Yoest testified before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee that examined ending taxpayer funding for abortion providers who violate the law. In an exchange with Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA), Yoest challenged the panel to bring Cecile Richards before Congress to address the six troubling legal issues raised in the CMP videos.

“The burden of proof is on Planned Parenthood, to show that they are not violating the law while profiting from trafficking in infant body parts,” Yoest said.

Richards is scheduled to testify later today before the House Oversight Committee about taxpayer support going to Planned Parenthood, noted by the committee to be “approximately $1.3 billion in total revenue, of which $528.4 million (41 %) is attributed to ‘government health services grants and reimbursements.'”

As a scandal-ridden Planned Parenthood uses political maneuvering to force taxpayers to handover scarce Medicaid funding to the leading abortionist federation, Americans United for Life Action called on the U.S. House to support H.R. 3435, the Women’s Public Health and Safety Act, sponsored by Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI). The bill would explicitly permit a state to exclude abortion providers and facilities where abortions are performed from its Medicaid program.

“It’s scandalous that a program set up to fund healthcare for the poor has been hijacked by a greedy abortion industry, working overtime to seize resources from real healthcare providers such as the now expanded Community Health Centers,” said Yoest. “As we’ve seen with our own eyes in the Center for Medical Progress videos, Planned Parenthood profits from the death and dismemberment of unborn infants. It’s time to redirect those funds to lifesaving care.”

In a letter to representatives, Yoest noted that the vote would be scored by the legal arm of the pro-life movement and observed that this change in Medicaid funding is already under way. “At least two states, Indiana and Arizona, have enacted laws restricting abortion providers from participating in their Medicaid programs,” she wrote.

AULA also supports House efforts this week to set up a select Committee on Planned Parenthood under the jurisdiction of the Energy and Commerce Committee, similar to the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

“It’s time to open the books of the abortion industry, to determine what they have been doing with more than 1 million tax dollars every day, and whether the inhumanity of trafficking in human remains is illegally continuing,” said Yoest.




Donald Trump’s Message to Christian Conservatives

Donald Trump delivered the following remarks at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., last weekend. They have been edited for space and clarity. – Ed.

Thank you very much. I see these beautiful teleprompters. Believe me, I’m not using them. You know I said if you run for president you should not be allowed to use teleprompters. Get these things out of here.

Most importantly, I brought my Bible from First Presbyterian Church, Jamaica [in Queens, New York]. And this was written by my mother with my name, my address, with everything. In case I lost it, somebody would return it.

You know, in the old days, if you lost something, they returned it; today a little bit less so. But I saw this and I said I have to bring it and just show it, because it brings back so many memories.

It’s really an honor to be here. And, you know, David [Brody] is a fantastic guy. He’s done an amazing job. And we had some big news today with [House Speaker John] Boehner.

I just am so tired. I’m so tired of the political. We don’t have time. We have a country that’s in such danger and such trouble. To be politically correct, every word is measured. And I can do it – but who wants to do it? We have to get to business.

But we’re going to have a very interesting period of time. And maybe it starts today, because Speaker Boehner – you know, some people like him on a personal basis. But we want to see the job being done properly. We want people that are going to get it done.

I don’t understand. They get elected. They’re full of vim and vigor. They’re going to change things. They’re going to get rid of ObamaCare. They’re going to do all of these things. They come down to these magnificent vaulted ceilings that you see all over Washington. And what happens? They become different people.

We are so disappointed in the Republican Establishment. In all fairness, you have a certain group of 10 percent, 12 percent of Republicans that are out there fighting. But when Obama and the Democrats hear that they have no support [from their own party], there’s no way that the Republicans can win. They’re left hanging so many different times.

If they actually were unified, and you said four very important things that you’re going to stand up for, you’re going to win.

When you hear the Democrats, they’re very, very good. They say, “It would be so wonderful for us if the government shut down.” And the Republicans say, “Oh, they want it to shut down. Oh, that would be bad.” We’re playing right into their hands.

Do you remember when a small group wanted to impeach Obama? And then the Democrats said, “Please impeach him. It would be so good for him. It will make him look so good.” Do you really think they want him to be impeached? It’s so sad.

I mean, you know, like, you have this clown, Marco Rubio. I’ve been so nice to him. But he’s in favor of [illegal] immigration. It was the Gang of Eight. It was terrible. And then he went down in the polls. And you have to stay, “If you believe in something, you have to be true to yourself.” But the Gang of Eight – you talk about weak on immigration, nobody’s weaker.

Bush, who by the way, along with Rubio – is in favor of Common Core. I mean, I think of it. From a Christian standpoint, you want local school representation. You want local. Common Core is a disaster.

And all of a sudden he goes down in the polls and all of a sudden he starts changing his tone.

But you never really change your tone. You remember that.

And also, when you’re elected senator, you have to go and vote. It’s so important. You can’t say I can’t vote. And he’s got the worst [Senate attendance] record. And he hit me. And I said why is he doing that? Sometimes the Republicans do it, because they want to get into the publicity cycle. And all you’re doing is hurting yourselves.

Now, we have so many people that can be and should be attacked. We have a president that is extremely bad for everything that the folks in this room stand for – I mean, extremely bad.

You know, freedom of religion – so important. We just don’t see it.

Take a look at a thing like the Iran deal. We talk freedom of religion, look at the Iran – how long is this whole thing going to last when we have incompetent people – grossly incompetent people negotiating these vital deals?

Israel is in such trouble with this deal. Did you know in that deal probably it says – and nobody even understands what says, which is a problem – but probably if Israel ever attacked Iran, we’re supposed to come Iran’s defense. Do we know that? At some point, something might happen. The deal is horrible. The deal is horrible, from any standpoint. And we have to do something. It’s going to have to be renegotiated.

You know, I love bad deals, because you buy them cheap. I buy a horrible, horrible contract. The poor guy is dying with it. He’s getting killed. I buy it cheap. I then go and fight and make it a great contract.

That contract, that [Iran] agreement has to be changed. We have no choice, because if it isn’t you’re going to have nuclear proliferation – it’s already happening. You’re going to have potentially the destruction of Israel. It has to be changed.

One of the things in that contract that I cannot believe, is that we’re giving them $150 billion dollars. They’re ordering missiles from Russia. We cannot allow the incompetence that we’ve had going on in this country.

We have to use our greatest negotiators. We use political hacks, negotiating deals that they have no right doing. And by the way I have to say, to the women, it’s all fellas over there. They haven’t figured out that women are smarter than men. They haven’t figured this out yet.

Take a look at another thing – and, look, nuclear’s so important – but you have four prisoners. By the way, it used to be three at the beginning, now it’s four. One of them is in jail because he’s a Christian.

You walk in at the beginning, not the end, of negotiations and you say, “Fellas, you got to give us back our prisoners. You’ve got to do it. It would send a great signal to the American people. It’ll make the deal much easier.”

If they say no, you take a walk because you know you’re not going to get anything.

You take a walk, and I guarantee you, as sure as you’re sitting there, that within a short period of time they call back. You’ll have your prisoners – you will have them.

You need the right messenger. If I’m the messenger, you get those prisoners back!

But you need the right messenger. And in the case of the prisoners, they never even asked. Can you believe it? Both Obama and Kerry said we didn’t want to complicate the negotiations.

It’s time. I’m a business man. I made a tremendous amount of money – a tremendous amount. I don’t even believe it myself.

I’m self-funding – I don’t want to have the lobbyists and the special interests put money into my campaign. I’ve turned down millions and millions of dollars. I actually feel foolish because it’s so anti-me. Yet I was in Iowa two weeks ago, and I said to the people, “Do you mind if I take millions of dollars? I promise you I won’t do anything for the people giving me the money.” And they all stood up and they said “No, no, no.” It was really important.

You look at another thing, trade. I always say I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created.

A woman stood up [at one of my meetings] and asked why I didn’t sue people. I’m a giving person. I believe in God. I believe in the Bible. I’m a Christian. I love people.

But the woman stood up. She said, “Mr. Trump, I’m a big fan of yours and I’m going to vote for you, but I don’t know if you’re nice enough to get elected.” I said, “I really think I’m a nice person, but let me tell you something: I really think this is going to be an election based on competence.”

We owe China $1. 5 trillion. Think of it. They suck our money out, they take our jobs, they do everything, and we owe them money. How does that work?

Japan. We owe them the exact same amount, $1. 5 trillion. They sell us cars, biggest boats you’ve ever seen coming into the harbors, loaded with cars. So they send millions of cars over here. We sell them beef. The farmers over there don’t want it. Half the time they send it back – so we take it back. That’s not good beef by the time you get it back.

But – but you look at the imbalance, the U. S. trade [deficit]. China, almost $400 billion a year. Japan, $75 billion a year.

Mexico – first of all, we are going to build a wall, and it’s going to be a real wall, OK? If people like it or don’t, we’re going to build a wall. And it’s going to have a big, beautiful door, and people are going to come into the country, but they’re going to come in legally. And when people graduate number one in their class from Harvard and Yale, we don’t send them out if they want to stay in the country.

You know, there was a case the other day I read about where somebody – a great student at a great school – couldn’t stay. From India, couldn’t stay in the country, no matter what. And they forced him out. And he founded a company a few years ago in India [that has] 5,000 employees, one of the most successful companies. We could have had him here, and we force them out.

So we’ve got to be smart. We’ve got to be tough.

We can’t allow our veterans to be treated the way they’re treated. They’re treated horribly. They’re treated horribly.

And our military? If I win, we’re going to make our military so big, so strong, so powerful nobody will ever mess with us, folks.

But we have to be careful, as Christians. The progressives are pushing – the progressives are pushing to an extent that, if we’re not careful, we’re going to have some big problems – even bigger than we have right now.

The word “Christmas” – I love Christmas. I love Christmas. You go to stores now, you don’t see the word “Christmas.” It says “Happy Holidays” all over. I say, where’s Christmas? I tell my wife, “Don’t go to those stores.” I want to see Christmas. And you know, other people can have their holidays, no. But Christmas is Christmas. I want to see “Merry Christmas.”

So I just want to thank you for the – it’s been an amazing group of people. You’ve been amazing. And to have such a fantastic room. But I just want to thank everybody. You know, I got into this and everyone said, there’s no way he’ll ever do it, he’s got this wonderful company.

I do. I have a wonderful life.

But I see what’s happening. I see what’s happening with the country. I see so many things going wrong, so many things that are caused really by incompetence, that can be straightened out. We can straighten it out fairly quickly. I will tell you if we don’t stop it now, however, at some point it’s going to be too late. You’re not going to be able to turn it.

People said I would never get in the race – so I did it. Then they said, he’ll never file form A, which is basically a single page where you’re signing your life away. I signed it. Then they said he’ll never put in his financials, because maybe he’s not as big financially as everybody thinks. I put in almost a hundred pages, like the biggest ever filed by far.

And every single two or three weeks, when the polls come out, they said, “Well, now he’s reached his cap.” I started at 6 (percent). It went to 9 (percent). It went to 12 (percent). And it went to 20 (percent) and it went to 22 (percent). Then it went – and then the other day, in a Fox poll, it went up 2 more percent.

In fact, with Evangelicals in Iowa – just came out – I’m number one at 29 (percent), substantially ahead of anyone else.

The only thing I get angry at is that I like fairness. Somebody said, do you have thin skin? I don’t. If I’m wrong about something, I don’t mind, the media can do whatever they want. But I have thin skin when I’m right about something when I know they’re doing a number on all of us.

The reason I ran is because I want to make this country great again. And we’re going to do it. We’re going to do it. And we’re going to do it a lot faster and a lot better than anybody thinks is possible.
